I enjoy living in the community. All amenities are good, especially the outdoor pool – it is spacious and has room both for adults wishing to actually swim and for kids. My unit has a large balcony and a controllable AC, which is also great.

Moving in was chaotic because I had a lot of extenuating circumstances. The leasing office was willing to work with me on them, but I feel a lot of information was missed because I was not very knowledgable about the lease signing process. At times, the leasing office was pretty disorganized. So definitely do your research, be ready to ask the right questions, and call or email whenever you have them! My apartment is adorable, and the community is so friendly. maintenance has been kind and thorough. Its loud at the twins because we are literally right next to the highway, however the community is quiet and I feel very safe walking around at any time of day or night. Safeway and several metro stops are within a mile. For the price and the location, you cant beat it.

I lived here for four years. It was a pleasant experience and I enjoyed it. I never had any issues or experienced stolen packages. Yes, the apartments are not all updated and considered luxury, but if you are looking for an inexpensive apartment, Capitol Park Plaza fits your needs. It is also in a desirable location, it is walking distance to the Waterfront Metro (including a CVS and Safeway), the Navy Yard, Ball Park, and the Wharf. I would agree that I heard many of my neighbors conversations through the walls and other residents in the hallways, but it is an old apartment building. This was the number one issue I had. The studio I lived in was also spacious, had lots of storage, and a balcony. Also, the pool is very nice (it is not loud or a party atmosphere, it is family-friendly, and good for exercise). I did move out recently for a change of scenery and my situation changed personally during the pandemic, but I would recommend this place to those who asked me. It was never perfect, but what apartment is?

I called to schedule a virtual tour and it was unorganized. I am coming from a small town and had high hopes for a major city but if this is what is offered I am not expecting much. I made an appointment at 12:30 to view a home virtually. When you make the appointment there is no indication on how the tour will take place so I had to call several times where I kept getting brief answers but nothing substantial. We finally connect and exchange numbers on how to complete the tour. I was told they would go to the unit and call me and forty minutes later the tour never took place. I called the office again and was told they are conducting an in person tour. I have several things to do today and waiting around for someone to value my time was not one of them. I called the number multiple times and never received a response. Dissappointed an hour later and I have still not viewed the home.

I would personally not recommend applying to live here. I submitted an application to move here 3 weeks ago, and my anticipated moving date is 2 weeks from now, but my application has still not been approved. The process was unreasonably drawn out-- I called numerous times to make sure that everything was in and was told it was, only to be called back a couple days later (on more than one occasion) saying things were missing. I was also told numerous times that my application was pre-approved, but that the managers signature was missing which meant, among other things, that a deposit amount, etc. couldnt be generated. I never got a confirmation in writing, nor was a lease ever generated, because the managers signature and final approval had yet to be obtained. After 3 weeks. I want to be clear that that means the application has not been fully approved. I am deeply disappointed because a friend of mine had previously lived here, enjoyed his experience, and had recommended it to me, but, again, I would personally not recommend it to anyone. There are other places in the D.C. area with comparable rates who have a much more organized, efficient, and streamlined application process.

Patiently awaiting the karma of the leasing staff. Specifically, Mayra in particular who put my family’s life in danger and tried to ruin our credit. She believes she is more powerful than God! I’ll never forget, it may not be now, it may not be tomorrow but you will reap what you sow!

Apartment complex is great dont get me wrong, however do not have your packages delivered to your door, because they will get stolen. UPS is the only delivery carrier that drops packages off at the door. All the other couriers leave the packages at the leasing office.

Went there to look for an apartment to rent that was closer to work. Not a great place to live. The good thing about it is that it’s just 5 minutes walk from Waterfront Metro. However, the area in which it is located is not great. The awful smell that greets you when you exit the metro is appalling. Also, the way the building was built. At the bottom is like a tunnel and then the building seats on top of it. You can get attacked in the daytime and night and no one will hear you scream or see anything. The area is very dirty with people seating on the street doing nothing. Also it’s both income restricted and non- income restricted residents which I think it’s unfair. They are mixing lower class with middle and upper class residents together and charging the middle and up class $1,800-$2000 a month on rent. Why would someone wants to pay that much and live with lower class?

The utilities are included in rent for a reason. They are all very unreliable. Water gets shut off a few times a month, there is a bit of a trash problem (but I acknowledge that is probably more on residents not respecting procedures), and they make you wait until the middle of May to have a/c which also only works half the time. Now, I am overall very happy with my life here- it’s just that not having air conditioning on a 90 degree day is a BIG deal.

The views on the north side of the building are wonderful and the living rooms are huge and most of the staff are super great! However, the maintenance coordinator here is completely incompetent. I lived for three months with no heat and for one month with no air conditioner -- and I called maintenance every other day asking them to solve the situation. I also requested a mold inspection three times and the best I got was a maintenance man coming to wipe things away with bathroom cleanser. My shower was recently leaking really badly and it took two weeks, three online requests, two in person requests and finally a phone call until they sent a work man and he fixed it in 10 minutes so it was obviously not a hard problem. I think the maintenance workers do know how to fix things, but they are not managed well at all. Anyways, I would say even though the views are great and the prices are competitive, it is an old building and without maintenance coordinator that can handle anything it is not worth the headache. Calling in my maintenance requests was basically a part-time job on the side of my full-time day job. 10/10 do not recommend. I will be breaking my lease early. Also, READ your lease. They do NOT protect tenants at all. Also, they turn off the water from 9-5 basically once per week...

Crime-ridden, dirty, security just for show, water shut offs every week, rude management, can hear the highway literally nonstop, constantly smelled like marijuana, laundry machines rarely work and are contaminated.Absolutely every single package I had delivered there was stolen. Once, a package was stolen within 15 minutes of delivery. Management doesnt care and refuses to install security cameras to hallways.

I lived in Capitol Park Plaza & Twins apartments for about 4 months in the Fall and I moved out. I want to give a real account of this apartment complex.First I want to say that no apartment is perfect. If you are looking for such I place, I suggest you search your imagination because all apartments will have issues, but we tolerate because it has some advantage over another. Also I cannot speak to the swimming pool or other complaints other reviewers had. I can only talk about my stay. The Capitol Park Plaza & Twins is an older building, so you can expect problems with elevators, so that wasnt an issue for me. Here are a few things that I thought were would help the future apartment dweller:Apartment/ Living AreaMy apartment was spacious and inviting. I had a nice balcony view of the Capitol Building (and construction :-)) but it was cool. My kitchen area was decent and the hot water is HOT…like 100°C…(no Fahrenheit, but Celsius). This is not a complaint, I just didn’t know we had access to water from a lake in Hell. The resident gym is downstairs; so it’s best to use in early morning. This gym is good for calisthenics, isometrics, and cardio. Not weightlifting.Other ResidentsIt offers a mix of people from everywhere so everyone is unique. Neighbors are friendly enough and you always have a conversation with someone on the elevator. Whether initiated or not.The ManagementThis is the cornerstone of Capitol Park Plaza & Twins; I cannot tell you how helpful and resourceful their management team is. I was lucky to work with Mayra, Yelissa, Account Mgr, and that dude that works in the office (sorry, can’t remember names). Whenever there were issues, they were considerate and helped to find solutions. They’re the type of people you want to call if you need help like first responders. For management, I give them 5 STARS!This is a team that really cares. This is a team that really cares.I left because of personal issues, but they made my decision to leave very hard.

Capitol Park Plaza is a great value. At a time when most DC apartments are hugely expensive, this building has one bedrooms at competitive prices with the utilities included. When Ive had maintenance issues, the management has been quick to respond or, if necessary, schedule the repairs.I love living here. Im within walking distance of the National Mall and the Library of Congress. The neighbors are friendly. Theres a little park on the back, and, in the summer, a good pool with lifeguards. All of these things make Capitol Park Plaza a comfortable neighborhood.

Sometimes the staff gets on your nerve but thats personal. Its like a starter home...affordable but not exactly what you want. Great location as far as transportation and its always something going on in the community. The Mall (museums) is close and its in walking distance to everything you would need. Even though I have heard horror stories, Ive never seen a nasty bug in my apartment and for that alone I give them 4 stars.

Capitol Park Plaza is the best apartment find for the price in DC. Going into my 4th year of residence, I have witnessed, first hand, managements attempt to keep up with more trendy (pricey) residences. There is a sense of Home without the unwanted intrusions, the balcony views are spectacular-second to none, and the Staff, including Maintenance, is first rate. I have been treated with nothing but decency and respect- an all too rare combination in the 21st Century.

Would give 4 or even 5 starts but the swimming pool has lifeguards and there is one in particular that is horrible. EVERYTHING is against the rules of the pool. No rafts, no playing really! *Not kid friendly* they make the kids get out an hour before the pool closes, even parents with babies! Also, no one under 18 allowed in the gym.Not a good choice if you have children, or enjoy doing anything in a pool besides swimming laps or floating on your back.

Worst maintenance schedule ever. Literally turn the water off for maintenance 3 times a month at the LEAST, from 9-5, sometimes LONGER. Apartments are good size and pretty big but doesn’t make up for OLDDD appliances . Over&fridge and the laundry equipment is awful. Almost always 3 OOS machines in there. Wouldn’t recommend to anybody for the prices

Mayra and the accounts manager Solmaz are AMAZING. Mayra got me into a wonderful unit with ALL UNTILIES paid. Near walking distance to the metro rail and grocery store. I did not wait long to get into my unit, and it was clean and ready. I saw not one bug or rodent the entire 2 years I lived there. Maintenance was prompt and they fixed everything. The pool manager however, was the WORST, she made rude faces at me behind my back, yelled at my 8 year old cousin, and had an attitude every time I went to the pool. Aside from that I enjoyed my place. I would suggest upgrading the counter colors and paint the cabinets.

Scuzzy apartment complex. Leasing agents with qualities ranging from incompetent to unpleasant. Cruddy paint job in the apartment with cheap appliances. It seems like every couple of months they fumigate for some pest or another. Literally the only reason to live there is the location. Hill offices are a 5-10 minute walk. You could probably do better for $1415/month for a 1 bedroom.

After 3 years of living here Im infested by Roaches and other bugs. The contractor that the building uses as a exterminator fails to kill roaches, and set traps.
