I joined the Ladies Challenge and I must say it was the best thing I have ever done for myself. Dani and Thomi are great. They made this challenging but fun. This gym has helped make me stronger, healthier, and happier. I met some great people and had the best time! I am so happy to finally find a workout that I love and will stick with. Thank you!

CrossFit Virginia Beach is without a doubt the best gym in all of Virginia! The coaches are knowledgeable, helpful, and approachable. Even if you have zero experience with Crossfit (or working out in general) I would highly recommend stopping by the gym; the coaches are extremely welcoming and will work to scale the workout for you.In short, CrossFit Virginia Beach is the Bees knees!

I couldnt have asked for a better introductory experience to Crossfit than what I received during my six week Ladies Challenge class. The facility was great, equipment plentiful and instructors AWESOME! Ive already decided to continue with additional classes at CFVB. Definitely come see for yourself.

Gyms and CrossFit was not my comfort zone. Im a runner, after being plagued with injuries I turned to CrossFit. However, it wasnt just the CrossFit that saved me and advanced me further than I thought I could go. It was VB CrossFit and the outstanding coaching staff. Thomi, Rob, Paul, Shaun, Cody, and Megan have all personally invested time help me achieve my goal of becoming and staying injury free. I joined VB CrossFit two years ago, after more than a year of difficult back pain. I was reaching for non-surgery solutions. Within four months I was 95% pain free, daily attention from Thomi, Rob, and Paul help me adapt the workouts to fit me. This approach allowed me to heal and build the necessary fitness to remain pain free. Back pain impacted every aspect of my life and my overall happiness, now two years later it isnt even a thought. VB CrossFit has improved my physical and mental wellbeing.

I absolutely love working out at Crossfit in Virginia Beach. I wanted to challenge myself and decided to do the Ladies Crossfit Challenge for 6 weeks. I gained a whole new perspective on what I can physically do and they taught me everything I needed to know from start to finish. Each workout had a warm up, a workout, and a cool down. I love the family-like atmosphere that I felt. The coaches are very encouraging and are invested into your results. I am surely doing Crossfit for life!!!

Its taken me some time to write this review, not because I didnt want to, but because I wasnt sure how to describe my feelings about this place. When I walked into this gym almost 1 year ago, I had no idea what to expect. What I found was a group of people that welcomed me with open arms. They are knowledgeable, patient and fun to be around. Thomi Gill and Rob Wilson have created an environment that encourages you to push yourself and go beyond what you thought you were capable of achieving. To call this a community would do CFVB a great disservice. This is where we come to become better athletes. This is where we come to be with our tribe. If youre looking for an exceptional team of trainers, a great WOD and a fun environment, look no further.

Crossfit Virginia Beach is one of those crossfit gyms you hear about where everyone sort of instantly becomes family. Thomi and all of the coaches are not only exceptionally knowledgeable when it comes to fitness as a process, but they are impeccable at creating an environment where all members feel welcomed no matter whether youre just starting out or are a seasoned athlete. There is a dedication to the success and wellness of every single member that I havent necessarily experienced in other boxes, and its the reason I would recommend CFVB to anyone interested in making a commitment to better themselves.

I was on the fence about crossfit for a long time, it wasnt until I met rob (one of the owners and a level 2 coach) that I actually started thinking about doing it. Every time I saw him Id ask him tons of questions and for every question he had an answer. I finally stopped by the gym on my way home from work to check it out and knew I had to at least try it. About a week later I was taking my fundamental classes and signed up and its only been 3 months but I wish I started years ago. So far Ive had 4 coaches Rob, Thomi (the other owner and also a level 2 coach) Jamie, and Shay, and every coach is knowledgeable, motivating and care about everyone there, they are some of the most solid people ive met. There is no way I would train anywhere else.

After lifting on my own in a normal gym for years I decided to give a crossfit gym a try and found CFVB after some online research. The main reasons that I decided on CFVB were because of the experience of the coaches (just celebrated the gyms 10 year anniversary) and the 3 weekly specialty classes (olympic lifting, powerlifting, gymnastics). In the beginning I was a little skeptical of going outside of my comfort zone by working out in a group and trying new exercises, however I very quickly felt at home and started showing up 5 or 6 times a week. CFVB is very focused on safety, mobility, and recovery. Thomi and Rob are coaches in every sense of the word. In a short amount of time they knew my limitations, strengths, weaknesses, and when I wasnt challenging myself enough. Thomi and Rob also provide a great balance between having fun and putting in hard work. They understand that working out is a hobby for most but they are also focused on helping everyone improve their performance. For example, following a specific diet plan is not required but if you have any questions about diet they will be more than happy to share their knowledge. Many times they followed up on my questions a week or so later. Something like that was the biggest surprise and the best part of the gym for me; they really get to know all of the gym members very well. All of the coaches and gym members were happy to answer any questions I had and to give me advice. I would highly recommend CFVB to anyone of any fitness level.

If there were more stars on here I would gladly give Rob and Thomi more. As a former college football and baseball player, pro baseball player and college baseball coach, my opinion of crossfit and what it is, is how most athletes view it. A terrible workout or movement done in twenty minutes that is going to end up hurting your joints or body in the long run. I couldnt have been more wrong after going to Crossfit Virginia Beach. It exposed all of my weaknesses within a few workouts that I firmly believe would have made me an even better athlete back when I was playing. Everything from core strength, proper Olympic lifting techniques, body awareness, cardio vascular, muscle endurance, dieting, etc. I could go on and on. With my background as a former college and pro athlete I can honestly say that I have learned more about lifting and my body in the past three months than I ever did while playing because of Rob and Thomi. Go check out Crossfit Virginia Beach. Its more than just a gym, its a family and I now feel like I can call myself an athlete.

I started Crossfit when I was living in Hawaii and kind of ran into CFVB by accident. I received temporary duty assignment to the Virginia beach area for about six weeks and I wanted to keep up my Crossfiting. So I looked on the internet and found CFVB and shot an email to the owner explaining my situation. Thomi was more than welcoming and completely understanding of my situation and instead of trying to make me take some kind of special training session, which I‘ve seen at more than a few boxes, she asked me a couple questions, checked my lifting form and away we went. Those six weeks were great, Thomi and Rob helped me correct imperfections in my form and gave me great advice. I think I learned more in those six weeks than I had in the previous 9 months I had be doing Crossfit. I returned to Hawaii and by using what I had learned my performance continued to improve. Lucky for me I received a follow on assignment to Va Beach and without hesitation, back to CFVB I went. There are two big things which really set CFVB apart from the rest of the boxes I’ve been to, and Ive been to many. The first is the people, from the moment I stepped into the box I felt completely welcome and instantly meshed into the group. While no matter where you go, you typically fall into the group of people who work out at the same time, I feel just as comfortable walking the box and working out any other time of day. The second thing is the trainers. Having not only one, but two, level 2 trainer with probably 5+ years of experience is amazing. If you’ve got something jacked up in your form, chances are they’ve seen it and know how to fix it. It is their dedication and training methods which keep their athletes consistently improving, while minimizing injuries. Without a doubt, hands down, CFVB has been the best box I have had the pleasure WOD’ing in.

Results and growth – to me that is what CrossFitVB is all about and what separates CFVB from any other gyms. Regardless of your current level of fitness, if you are willing to step out of your comfort zone and put in the effort you will get the results you seek. You will learn that you can always do more than you think you can, and you will experience growth in the gym and in life. At CFVB Thomi Gill and Rob Wilson deliver results and growth through superior coaching in classes with people from all walks of life, at any age and any level of fitness. Thomi and Rob meet their clients where they are and provide the coaching needed based on each individual’s current level of fitness – it never ceases to amaze me in a class of 10 to 20+ people, how I can feel like I am the only one in the gym when I am working with Thomi or Rob – I have heard many people at CFVB say the same thing. And the CFVB classes are full of some of the greatest people I have ever met. Thomi has built a world-class gym on a work hard / play hard culture, where everyone is welcome with open arms and people are driven to their individual best in a fun, motivating and supportive environment. I travel a lot for work and have been to many CrossFit gyms and there is truly no other place like CFVB. For anyone who is thinking about trying CrossFit or even just looking for a new gym, all I can say is stop thinking and give CFVB a chance. You won’t regret it and it could very likely change your life. Thanks Thomi and Rob!

I am no natural athlete. I’m not genetically blessed, and I’m sure as hell not capable of going to the CrossFit Games, but I have learned to respect and trust my training. A skill I would never have learned had it not been for Thomi and Rob at CrossFit Virginia Beach. When I first began my journey at CFVB I was immediately hit in the face with the realization that I actually SUCKED at just about everything. I had been training at other gyms in the area prior to coming to CFVB and lets just say that my movement patterns needed some serious TLC. My pull-up technique was wrong, my midline was like a fish out of water, and I lacked any real knowledge of how to do the movements correctly. At that point I had a choice. I could scratch everything I had previously learned before walking into those doors and start over, OR I could quit and walk out. Since I’m writing this testimonial I’m sure you can guess what decision I made, and not a day goes by that I have ever regretted it.I’ll never forget the look on Thomi’s face as she watched me go over head for the first time. It was like a deer in the headlights. She looked at me and said “Your midline stability needs some serious work.” By that point I was a little intimidated. Weighing only 103 pounds soaking wet, I knew that there was going to be a lot of work involved if I wanted to keep moving forward with my training. I accepted the fact that I needed to start from scratch and that’s when things really started to take off. The first few months were nothing but leaps and gains. Everything I did got better. My lifts increased by almost fifty percent, my skills were steadily going up and my knowledge further increased. It was like I was a completely different athlete. Even my mind set had changed. Suddenly I was overwhelmed with this sense of loyalty and community. Something I had never experienced. It wasn’t long before CFVB became my home away from home, and every single person that walked through the door became my family. In the two years that I’ve been with Thomi and Rob and everyone at CFVB my life has not only gotten better, it has actually felt meaningful. There is no better feeling in the world than when the people that have touched your life the most tell you that they are proud of you. When they know where you started and have seen the blood, sweat and tears that you have put into your life and your training. They know the dedication it takes and how hard the grind becomes, but they are also the ones that pick you up when you fall and dust you off. They are the ones that tell you “Hey kid, it’s all part of the process.” There hasn’t been a day that’s gone by since I joined CFVB that I have ever wished I was anywhere but there. I’ve been to other gyms and seen their fancy equipment. You can have all of the nice rigs, barbells and bumper weights in the world and nothing can top the coaching I’ve received over the past two years. My life will never be the same, and I’m grateful for that. I’m grateful for the times that Thomi has reached out to me when I was feeling down and wouldn’t take “I’m fine.” for an answer. I’m thankful for the words of encouragement that I receive from both her and Rob when I feel like I’m hitting a wall. I’ve learned that training IS a process and a long one at that. Changes don’t happen over night and certainly don’t come easy. I’m grateful for every second that I can spend in that gym surrounded by amazing individuals and the best coaching staff in the 757. I’m thankful that every single emotion I take into that gym whether it be fear, pain, or love is always reciprocated no matter what the circumstances may be. I think I speak for everyone when I say bravo CrossFit Virginia Beach. Thank you Thomi and Rob for everything you’ve done and continue to do for us. You are both the best at what you do and I am thankful to have coaches and friends like you.

This is HANDS DOWN the best crossfit facility I have ever had the pleasure of being a member of. I have been a member of gyms in Louisville, KY and in NYC; this one tops them all! Thomi and Rob are 2 of the BEST crossfit coaches in the business. I contacted them after about 2.5+ years of no activity due to the herniations in my back. I sent them my MRIs, came in and tried a class, and just like, they developed a course of action that would get me back to my healthier days! Just 3 months later I am happier, healthier, and most importantly, 25 pounds smaller than I was when I started!!! They truly care about each and everyone of us, and it shows!Dont make a mistake and get lured in by other gyms. This box is the real deal. Did I mention they are the only lvl 2 certified coaches in Hampton Roads??? (thats right, do your research people!). Go to CrossFit VB, you will not be disappointed!!!

I have nothing but good things to say about CrossfitVB and its trainers. I was skeptical before jumping on what most consider to be the crossfit band wagon. I was sure that the monthly fee was too much and even more sure that I wasnt going to be able to keep up with the existing members. I couldnt have been more wrong. Before joining CrossfitVB, I thought I worked out pretty regularly. I would go for a mile or two run in the evening a few days a week, and do some stretching. Over the years I tried a few workout regimens. When I was serious about running, I followed a marathon training schedule and would run as far as 10 or 11 miles on a Sunday. I tried P90x, Insanity, and plenty of other workout videos. However, I never saw any major results from these things. Even worse, I have suffered from severe shoulder and back pain over the course of the last ten years. Ive seen a chiropractor and received regular massages for this condition, but nothing cured it.A friend of mine moved away and joined a cross fit gym in her hometown to keep herself busy. She was sending me pictures, updating me on her results. After a few months of seeing her body shift in positive ways, I was sure I needed to try cross fit. Another friend of mine was interested, so together we researched a few crossfit gyms in the Hampton Roads area. As soon as we saw the website for CrossfitVB and read some of the testimonials we knew that was the place we wanted to go.The owners, Rob and Thomi, along with the other trainers are extremely knowledgable and helpful. I always feel comfortable asking them for advice and guidance in the gym. I never played sports growing up, so a lot of what crossfit involves is very new to me, but I never feel lost because if Im not asking what to do next, theyre showing me. Every class has a thorough warm up and overview on all of the movements involved. And for a newbie like me, they always show me how to scale certain movements so that I can still participate even though Im not quite as advanced as I one day will be. I realize now that working out on my own never worked for me because I didnt have the fitness education to do any of the movements properly or effectively. CrossfitVB is giving me that. This place is changing my body, my attitude, and is even making me a morning person. Thankfully, because my body is getting stronger, I no longer suffer from back and shoulder pain. And even better, Im actually excited to go work out!

First of all, let me introduce myself. I was raised in a small farming community in rural Pennsylvania where hard work was not just encouraged, it was a way of life. I had always been barrel chested and a little on the pudgy side. I had never really worked out before, and accepted that I am what I am. This was until 3 years ago a very special person entered my life (whom I am making my wife in 9 months) and she really made me look at my life, and realize that I need to be around for a while not only for her, but for our children. Last year, during a deployment, I became interested in Crossfit from a friend I was deployed with. I hit it hard, for 5 days a week for 4 months straight and saw GREAT results (30lbs lost, 10% BF lost). However when I got back, I had injured my knees and fell out of the routine. When I found out I was going to be in the virginia area for 4 months, I immediately looked up crossfit gyms and found CrossfitVB.Now that you know a little about me, let me set the tone: You walk into the gym and the first thing that hits you is WORK. this is not your every day run-of-the mill global gym where Hanz and Franz work their beach muscles. This is where pain and accomplishment live. DO NOT, I repeat DO....NOT.... walk into this gym thinking youll magically walk out a monster. You will be pushed to your physical, but more importantly your MENTAL edge. Now that youre thinking why on earth would I go there??? let me introduce you to the instructors. I was admittedly a bit intimidated to be instructed by two level 2 instructors, but that immediately went right out the door as soon as I met them. Rob runs you through the intro classes (three 1 hour classes) and his instruction is more than just pick it up, put it down. He goes over the finer points of the movement in order to maximize results and minimize injury. Once you can start attending group classes, Rob will be one of your instructors. He makes things light hearted and fun, but has a WEALTH of knowledge and loves to share. Also, you will meet Diablesa (she-devil). Thomi loves to torture you and make you hurt, HOWEVER it could not come from a better place. Both of these folks have NOTHING but your best interest at heart, and truly love what they do. I have only been attending classes for a month, and I already feel like part of the CrossfitVB family. Speaking to my fiancee last night, I told her I am really scared that I have set the bar SO high by coming to CrossfitVB, that when I go home to find a gym, nothing will compare. That is how this place leaves you feeling. I will always think of CrossfitVB as the place that I (a notorious non-self-motivator) WANTED to come to work out.If I could sum up this place in 6 words, it would be what I said when I was leaving todays workout to come home after a very painful 6 x 50m backwards sled pull (155lb), I was barely able to walk, and the only thing that could muster was to look at Thomi and say I hate you, but thank you. It sucks, It hurts, I wanna die, but I know it is in my best interest.Thank you so much to the CrossfitVB Family.
