American Mechanical has done many projects for me.I continue to experience service above and beyond my expectations that includes during COVID times.The technicians took time to explain how a doorbell camera works, positions and guided my expectations of the camera. Technician was very helpful; even though this service was not for my residence but my father’s. He did an outstanding job. I discovered a freezer in my home wasn’t installed correctly and was concerned about possible electrical issues (or worse, even afire). I called American and was put on the schedule sooner than I had expected. Rodney was the service tech who came out, and was very courteous and professional. He did an excellent job of correcting the problem and left the work area very neat and clean. Jennifer worked very hard to get someone here as soon as possible, while being very helpful and patient. Thank you both for talking care of my problem, and I will be calling on you for additional things I’d like done in my home (I gave Rodney quite a list!). It’s very difficult to find good service technicians today, much less get them to show up for the appointment. Thank you Jennifer and Rodney. Rodney the service technician came out to our house and he was extremely professional.. he discussed what was wrong she showed us what was wrong with our our wiring from the electrical service line to the meter and to our service breaker box. He was efficient very focused on time and did an excellent professional job and had my new service in and back ready to go in one day. We had no water as were on a well and no air conditioning. I would recommend this company anytime they did a great job and always request Rodney the technician. American mechanical also arranged the city inspector and Dominion power come out and finalize the service. I would use this company over and over again for any of my electrical issues. Extremely knowledgeable. American Mechanical was able to diagnose the issue with my AC unit and recommend the best course of action, which happened to be replacing the unit. This was after messing with a home warranty company for weeks and getting nowhere. Scott was able to give me a good price on a new unit and the install was done in less than a week.

Just got the keys to our house ONE day ago. Upstairs AC stopped working today. Called my realtor to ask what to do since this is our first house and inspections yesterday were fine. She said I know a good company and less then an hour later they were here and another half hr my AC was working.

Avi was the generator specialist that came out to check our generator that was not working. He quickly diagnosed and fixed the issue. He listened, understood and addressed all of our concerns. He went above and beyond by checking other things on the generator to be assured it was in perfect working order. For the past nine years we have used a competitor but American Mechanical is who we will be using from now on.

The technician Austin was amazing. If you have aTrane AC unit, go with the company that is a dealer for the brand. So happy I contacted American and I’ll call again for any other issues I may have with my house. Thank you for such great service!!

This company was very accommodating. Duane, who was the technician at my house was very up front with any and all concerns he had and we discussed and created a great solution. He installed my exhaust fan and I am so appreciative of the detail and care he put into putting this into my house. He is very knowledgeable and helped with any and all questions I had. American installed a Honeywell generator for me in July 2020. The next day, I began having problems with one of my AC units. Installers ran two cables, one from each compressor, to the transfer switch. The service man American sent out, said the problem was the compressor. I had my AC contractor come out, and he verified the compressor was in good working order. The second service man American sent out, said the problem was in my electrical panel. I called and electrician, he came by and said the panel was not the problem. The third service man American sent out, found the problem. He said the original installers, had the wires on the end of the cable, touching, which was shorting out my AC system. He separated the wires, and I have not had a problem since. When I asked to be reimbursed for the money I spent on the electrician, and AC service calls, American said it wasnt their fault, that the circuit breaker in my panel was to small for the unit. It is very interesting, that in the 18 years I have lived in this house, I never once, had a problem like this, and havent had one since . I asked to speak with someone in management, but could not get a response. It is a shame what people will do, not to take responsibility for their own actions.

Drew was the second tech to come to our home for an AC issue. He was punctual and determined to find the cause of our AC woes. His diagnosis was spot on and he was back by the end of the week with the parts to correct an issue with the AC drain line. Not only did he correct it, but he found the second drain line that was going to cause the same issue and he was able to correct it the same day. We were up and running in no time. I am very thankful! I do also greatly appreciate the time he took to show me pictures of the problem areas and explain what was happening. It made all the difference. Repeat customer for sure!

Had AC condenser unit and air handler replaced. Was very impressed with complete experience. The estimator Tim was respectful, friendly, and professional, even though I didnt give him the initial impression I was in the position to actally do a replacement immediately, he did not treat me any less different or pressure me which made my decision easy. Scheduling and final installation was on time and completed as promised with the utmost quality and thoroughness. Will recommend to others and consider them first for other future projects or repairs.

The electricians were very courteous and respectful of me and my home. They are very good at communicating and scheduling, and showed up on time. They installed an exhaust fan in my bathroom and the work was very high quality. Its not the least expensive but definitely worth it to have the job done right without any headaches.

And I never received a call back…..Gave a 5 star review after great service on 6/23 and a part was ordered for my generator. I called for an updated on 7/14 and told I would receive a call back. On 7/16 I called again and was told I would receive an update that day. 7/19 still waiting ………..Used them for a whole house generator service very professional and very knowledgeable.

Ryan arrived promptly on time to connect the gas line to our new Trane gas pack. He was very friendly, professional, and efficient during the installation, and while inside installing 3 new ventilation return covers, was very careful and conscious about keeping a clean workspace. American Mechanical - specifically Drew J. - came out to provide me with a diagnostic report and repair / replace plan following a lightning strike on my house. Drews knowledge of Trane systems is extensive and he was very thorough and methodical in preparing the diagnostic. Following his evaluation - he gave me straight answers, the whole story, and no bull. These guys are my new go-to for everything they do.

Shawn, worked quickly and was determined to give us the best quality repair by checking availability of parts. Working non stop he was able to route new lines in a timely manner so water could be restored throughout the complex so everyone could use their water before bedtime.

I have HAD this company for a great period of time (Years) and this past year I had my semi annual service check completed and the technician told us that our flame starter for the gas heater needed to be replaced, told my wife a quote would be sent over. This was completed and was nearly $300 for the replacement, i was a little surprised and looked the part number up myself and was surprised to find that the part itself was $9.89 cents, and looking further into the replacement a NORMAL time of 25 minutes. I began to wonder how many other times this happens as i have spent literally over 20 thousand dollars with this company and was shocked at the mark up of service and replacement of a 10 dollar part to just under 300 dollar quote for the repair. So if I were anyone I would make sure and look at the cost before committing to it, I had another company come in and do the same repair for $125.

Ed Stomach was very professional, proficient, and personable. He serviced our water heater and did a home inspection for free per their new customer policy. He discovered a leak in our shower floor and a couple other things that if left unnoticed, would have cost us a lot in repairs. He offered several reasonable quotes for repairs and options for payments. We will definitely be following up with them for repairs and future business.

One exhaust fan in attic ran constantly, other fan would not come on. Lights had to be turned on individually by pull chords. Fixed fans, rewired lights. Now have a switch near door to turn on fans and lights. Excellent job, in 95 degree heat.

Duane was incredibly astute and knowledgeable, and worked with personal AND home safety in mind, going so far as to take extra time to clean up a few live wires (extremely lethal, look up electricians being cooked alive for 5 hours because they touched a wire and were caught in the electrical current with no help) that the home builder electrician had left stray. I have a 4-year-old and highly appreciated the though. As well, his work was clean and extremely satisfactory. I appreciate even and symmetrical things, and Duane had no problem helping me decide an aesthetically pleasing spot for my exterior electrical outlet. It might not be a big deal for some but it made a huge difference personally. I recommend at least having them give you a quote and meeting a representative, as my rep also answered questions that I didn’t know I had. You’ll be lucky if you get Duane. Shawn was absolutely amazing. He got here within 30 min of my call and was able to repair the damage to my shower valve piping. He showed me each step that he did and explained why he did the things he did and made the changes that he did. He even installed the new knobs, faucet, and shower head which was originally what I was doing that created the problem in the first place. 5 stars, 10 out of 10 will use again if needed.

Had been paying for a service where they service my HVAC system supposedly every season. After them servicing my system for two years, my tenant said she never saw them so I cancelled the service. 6 months later the three year old AC stops working because of mold build up in a drain line. The technician calls to tell me the problem and says it will be $250 to clean a drain line. I get charged $350 because he had to arrive and there is an $85 service charge. A week later my tenant says the AC isnt working again. American Mechanical sends another person who says it will nearly $700 to clean coils. A service which I recently had done on a different property for $150. I tell them I will be looking for a more scrupulous company to complete that service and they again hit me with an $85 service charge. Call someone else, they will take you for all they can, an there services questionable to begin with.

American Mechanical always does an excellent job at a reasonable price. Rodney came out today to give me an estimate on a very complex project. He took the time to understand my concerns and address them. A very nice and professional young man.

Rich and his work mate did an outstanding job ripping out my old hot water heater and installing a new one. They got here almost on the dot (give or take a couple of minutes) from when they said they would and started working immediately. American Mechanical made a stressful experience not as bad. In addition, they provided me with the name of a good water damage company. Very happy with todays service and will use this company again in the future.9/8/21 Update: Phil B. came out to look at a small leak I was having on one of the joints for my newly installed hot water heater. He looked at it, identified the issue and had it fixed in 10 minutes or so. Quality work!!!

My AC went out 2 days before our 10 day vacation. I called several places who were booking out a week or so. These guys understood I was on a time crunch and scheduled me first thing the next morning. As it turned out, I didnt need them to come out and I let them know, but I truly appreciate them putting in the effort to make sure I was taken care of ASAP.

Were having our kitchen remodeled and we asked Dan to raise an 8-outlet installation up so it wouldnt be behind the back splash. He arrived on time, did a great job, and cleaned up after himself. Im very satisfied with his work.

I had American Mechanical install my AC 5 years ago and was happy with the service/price at the time so it made sense to call them for service. The compressor stopped running, all symptoms pointed to a bad capacitor, and reported this to American Mechanical. The Technician confirmed this was the problem. Then proceeded to tell me it was $400+ dollars to repair it plus the $85 service fee. The part that needed to be replaced is a $50 part (OEM price) and literally takes 15 minutes to verify and replace. Then told me that the coils needed to be cleaned and charged $300 for that. In all he was there for an hour and a half. So even if the parts were $100 because they use a higher quality part than the online ones how is $700 in labor justifiable for 1.5 hours of work? Under different circumstances I would have called someone else to do the repairs. But under the circumstances I didnt really have much of a choice. I am the Landlord, and my tenant has health issues and could not delay the repairs.

I had valves replaced under the sink and a dishwasher installed. Preston was very informative and was very friendly. He went above my expectations and completed the job and had me up and running. No more leaks and more water pressure at the sink.

Jon was very helpful in explaining how our generator worked and what responsibilities we had as a homeowner to ensure that our generator continues to work properly. He answered all of our questions thoroughly. We were very pleased with his professionalism and he represented his company well.

Weve used this company 3 times in the past 3 months on our HVAC unit. All three times, the technician was prompt, curious and explained everything in detail. Had the Fan/Compressor Dual Run Capacitor replaced on June 8th by Robert. On Aug. 31st, had the Capacitor to the Fan Motor replaced by Drew. It was suggested that we replace the Fan Motor as well, but we only had the Capacitor replaced. Unfortunately, the Fan Motor ended up dying overnight and we ended up calling American Mechanical back out the next day to have the Fan Motor replaced. Thankfully we just signed up for the Preventative Maintenance Plan. Since the Capacitor that was replaced the day before was no good to us any longer as it did not fit the new motor, we were able to have our account credited after my husband spoke with the Manager. On all three calls to American Mechanical, they were able to come out the very same day we called and service us. When calling a few other companies back in June, they all couldnt fit us in until the next week which led us to American Mechanical. Were definitely satisfied with this company and with the professionalism provided by each of the employees. ♥️♥️♥️

Buyer beware - they charge over $400/hour for labor. For a company as well known and as “reputable” as American Mechanical, we had higher expectations for their level of service.There is a high end AC unit in our home, still covered under warranty, installed by American Mechanical only 3 years ago. Our AC went out Monday, 6/28. We asked for a quote on diagnostic fee before we had them come out, it was reasonable around $80-90. Technician came out that afternoon, troubleshooted, cleared the lines and replaced the Thermostat (covered under warranty). Our verbal quote went from “around $300” to “around $700” after more diagnosing, to exactly $1,469.00 when we saw it in writing. The tech left with the intent of returning the following day to replace an ACF board. An hour after the tech left, our AC cut off. This tells us the work he did, was not the root cause of the issue. On 6/29 he returned to replace one part (ACF Board - also covered under warranty) for an additional $286.50 in labor. He assured us the unit was functioning at 100%. To date, we’ve paid $1,755.50 in labor, for an AC unit that is apparently covered under warranty. An hour after the tech left on 6/29, the AC cut off again - telling us the root cause was never found. Since Monday, 6/28 we have been asking for an itemized invoice outlining parts vs. labor and they have refused to provide since this “isn’t something they do” so we don’t know what exactly we’ve paid for.We had another company come out Wednesday, 6/30 for a second opinion; from the beginning, they called Trane Tech Support to troubleshoot (something American Mechanical never did). All HVAC techs have repeatedly said our unit is high end, high tech so I appreciate the new company going straight to the source instead of executing trial and error at our expense. This new company was able to solve the issue in half the time for half the price and our AC has been working fine ever since.Since American Mechanical never solved the problem and we’ve paid them nearly $1,800 for we’re not sure what, we have repeatedly called since 6/28 for the following: (1) an itemized invoice, (2) photos indicating WHY the thermostat and the ACF Board needed to be replaced and (3) a manager willing to accept accountability. We have received none of these things. It is 7/4 and we still haven’t heard from the service manager. They are now avoiding our calls (manager always seems to be busy when we call), not returning our messages and we’re simply PLEADING for them to do what is right.I’m happy to adjust my review if they hold themselves accountable and accept responsibility. While they have several positive reviews, there’s a chance this could also happen to you. Save your money and trust us when we say TAKE YOUR HVAC BUSINESS ELSEWHERE. They’re capable of doing this to anyone.

Horrible company, wish I would have read some of the reviews before I called someone out to my house but you live and learn. Thankfully I’m only out a service call but the way they operate is ridiculous. If you want to be belittled and taken advantage of they’re great. I hate to even say that they performed a service because they did not. This company is NOT interested in diagnosing an actual problem if they see you have an older unit. Instead the quick and easy solution is for you to go thousands of dollars in debt with a new unit. Not only did they not properly diagnose my issue they told me my unit couldn’t be repaired and that I needed a new unit. I repeatedly told the technician that I wasn’t interested in getting a new unit but reparing my current one for the time being to which he basically told me would be a waste of time and wouldn’t solve the issue (he didn’t know what the issue was because he failed to fully look at my unit) and tried to sell me on finance options. Also, he told me I was out of refrigerant. But how did American Mechanical actually check the pressure of our unit if the blower wasn’t running correctly 🤔🤔 Thankfully, we had another company come out that actually took the time to diagnose the problem (a faulty wire on the blower) and concluded that my refrigerant was only 10 ounces low. Do not go with them unless you’re just wanting something installed and have thousands of dollars to spare or want to go into debt.... When I called the next day to complain I was told someone would call me back which of course didn’t happen. When I called back to see why no one bothered to return my call they claimed their tech did no wrong... frickin joke! Do not go with them unless you just have money to burn because judging by some of the other reviews they’re all about nickel and dimming their customers.

I have to say, we had a few bumps with my first maintenance visit, but after all was done, I satisfied with the service. The rock star for me is Kim, she helped me with her perfect customer services skills. If I ever have trouble again, I know who to call. She gets 5 stars from me.

Called American Mechanical based on a friends reference.Jason called prior to arrival, as expected, arrived when he said he would. Very pleasant, told me about all his years of experience on Generators, very reassuring. Confirmed my decision to purchase 5 year contract was the right chance choice.

Highly recommend! We recently bought a tankless water heater from American Mechanical. Their prices were a few hundred dollars lower than the other companies who gave us a quote. They were also very quick and efficient in giving us a quote (for some companies, we had to wait several days and even pay just to get a price estimate). Installation was great— the gentlemen who came were kind, professional, and genuinely friendly. They also did a great job explaining the system and explaining what they were doing and how it worked. Tankless is expensive, but I really feel like I got a great value and it has really been worth it.

This was the second time Jon was doing a requested job at my home. He was very proficient and professional. He installed a motion sensor light out back and installed updated lights over my sink. He kept me informed on what he was doing alongthe way. The light installation over the sink made a huge mess but Jon cleaned up after himself perfectly. I fully recommend A-1 Mechanical.

Called sixteen days ago to report a condensate leak in my ductless mini split system. The techs arrived the next day; they were polite and punctual. Fifteen days and 580.00 dollars later, I still have a condensate leak in my ductless mini split system. Not quite the gold standard of service I expected. Called once since for an update and the response was less than informative. Will call again and hope for a service that will equal 580.00 minus double talk or generic corporate apologies.

After four cancellations and rescheduled appointments from my warranty provided repair service, I reached out to American Mech and received next day service. The technicians were informative and professional. Parts are pricey but they provided quality services.

My problem with bathroom faucet happened on the weekend but was not an emergency, but I was still able to get an appt.Monday. The plumber was here before noon. He was courteous and efficient and did an excellent job. I am so glad I found American Mechanical and will recommend to all I know.

His professional knowledge and presentation gave me four choices of various KW generators and he guided me to my selection should I choose to AM install.Jason also advised me of improper wiring on my house and that the wiring could be corrected by AM as stated on my quote regarding the various generators.Jason is an asset to AM.

Courteous but no offer to fix the problem outside of a new unit or super expensive, temporary no warranty options. The temperature in the house was over 90 degrees by noon that day. Neighbor was able to put duct tape on loose area and the problem was solved for free.

Very detailed and involved! Tims initial inspection discovered problems we didnt even know we had! Ducting throughout our home was sagging and leaking into our crawlspace!!! And he DEFINITELY knows his stuff! New AC size calculations, and efficiency analysis!!!

They made sure that when they came they where understanding of our needs and schedule very respectful and accommodated us as much as they could down to getting us window AC units just a couple to get us through the night with no ac system . Dennis came out to help us move some radiant Heat water lines so that some termite repair work could be complete. Atomic Plumbing already came out, looked at it for 5 mins and said they couldnt do anything and then charged me $80 even after accepting the job on the phone. Which is BS!Dennis was the EXACT opposite. He knew exactly what was going on. Said it was easy work and had all the tools and materials needed to get the job done! Disconnected some pipes and then even made the system more efficient with better connections than were on there initially to prevent any future leaks. Prices were excellent and he was efficient with his time with quality work.I will never ever use Atomic Plumbing again but Dennis and American Mechanical have a customer for life! Highly recommend you give him a call if you want the job done right the first time!

Services included the preliminary install of a home backup generator. We found the services to be professional, courteous, and timely. Your service technicians: (Rodney, Brian, Chris and Jake ) were knowledgeable and informative about the intended service to be preformed. Rodney got my clothes dryer working quickly, finding that the wire was not grounded on the proper grounding bar, from the rewiring for a Generator not being done properly. He was highly professional, courteous, knowledgeable, and helpful in explaining the repair. I feel very confident in the work he does for American Mechanical.

Shawn and Nick performed a total repipe of my home to replace Quest/polybutylene pipe. This was a major plumbing job and they handled it professionally and without any problems. While the company wasnt the cheapest alternative, I wasnt looking for cheap in a job like this. I would recommend Shawn without hesitation for this service. He made the experience as comfortable as possible explaining each phase. The Drywall repair company they supplied was outstanding!! Once painted youll never know the job was done. Our unit stopped working in the midst of a cold spell. I called a few companies that said were serving members only. American Mechanical responded within a couple of days. They were busy also but were able to accommodate. I had a great experience from everyone I spoke with, any department. They understood our situation, were very professional and knowledgeable. The technician took the time explaining every option available to us. I highly recommend them!

After being rescheduled for a second time over two days by another company, I called american Mechanical and within 4 hours of my call my AC is fixed! I can not say enough good things. The Tech was expedient and friendly. Im very happy with my experience.

I contacted this company because of their reviews. They did not disappoint. My natural gas tankless hot water system was going cold 10 minutes into my shower. Ed came, asked if I had ever done business with them and took a few minutes to tell me about the company and then told me about himself, his experience and he is a Master Plumber, which I appreciated. Then we discussed what was going on with my system. He knew exactly what the issue was. Turns out it wasn’t the system at all. It was the O ring in the shower head restricting the flow (and other technical terms). He fixed it, checked the system and no more issues. He could have done anything and charged a fortune and I would never know the difference. But he was an honest person. Impressed is an understatement. They have earned all of my future business and recommendations. Thank you Ed!

Excellent job! Every interaction I have had with an employee of this company has been pleasant and kind. That speaks volumes! What great customer service.
