I have been going to Tuffy in Troy for several years now. Always up front, never pushy or trying to sell you something you don’t need. I had a noise in my front end, to it to the dealer and several others and was told they couldn’t find anything. Had my oil changed yesterday and asked if they could check it out. At first they didn’t find anything but when pulling it out of the garage they heard the noise, so they put it back up on the hoist and found the problem! I love it when a business goes the extra mile for the customer. I recommend these guys to anyone. Strait up and efficient.
When we deal with big chains of auto shops, we pay more to receive professional service and we trust that there customer service will help when there is a problem. This place is a franchise of Tuffy, so everything will be managed by the owner at the front desk not Tuffy.Every thing started two months ago, I was impressed by their cheaper quotes & and courtesy rides after dropping off the car. First service was fine, second one the delay started you may spend a day to identify the car problems even you drop off your car 7:30 am.Third service was about air conditioning, i asked to check the air conditioning problem and stated it may need Freon charging, I spent a time from 7:30 am to 2 pm, finally they said you were right, it needed Freon. I paid 100$ and left, just arrive the home to find out the air conditioning isn’t working, I returned to the shop to tell them. The owner told me schedule a new appointment and we will take care of this 100$ in the final bill. I did. As usual dropped my car at 7 am and no updates until 2:30 pm, when I returned to the shop. The owner told me you need to get air conditioning compressor and valve. He offered quote of 850$ including labour, and he mentioned this is after removing 100$.I got the quote and compared only the parts with auto Zone prices to find out that his prices is more expensive around 220$. I thanked the shop and asked for the possibility of refund the 100$ of the Freon which charged based on his primary assessment of the problem. The owner refused and told me (the Freon in your car).I reached out to tuffy customer service which told me this shop is franchise and they can not help.
Been going to Tuffy of Troy for about 10 years. John is an excellent communicator and has the most skilled crew working with him. The job is always done sooner and cheaper than expected. Will be back Tuffy! Thanks again
I visited this place last week as I hear a noise from the rear wheels. They came back to me with a suggestion to change the rear shock absorbers for $430. I agreed, and It was done.Three days after, I heard a loud noise from the rear wheels of my car, after I entered a gas station. I have been direct to the place, The front desk guy was not friendly at all, and he told me he can not do anything at 2:30 pm, and I need to return tomorrow. I waited until 6:30 pm to just identify the problem. He told me at 6:30 pm that the rear shock absorbers were broken and accused me of driving in a bad way leading to this. He offered to replace them again for $430. I showed him his documents of life guarantee and he told me that does not include bad driving.I refused his offer and have been to another auto shop the following day close to this one. The repairman showed me the broken rear shock absorbers, they are not the same model, and one of them was not replaced recently as it was covered by rust!!!!!I will file many complaints against this place in different places.Dishonesty is a big question for this place. Save your money and time and do not go there.
Ive trusted the care of several of my vehicles thru the years to the experienced friendly service here. I HIGHLY recommend them for any type vehicle they care for!!!Just give them a call... 😀
Johns Tuffy is the best shop around the Royal Oak/Troy area. Their prices, their parts, their service, their dedication to finishing your vehicle on time, the quick service & accommodation for any & all vehicle types in regards to work & parts, as well. I have taken my previous Toyota here, I take my 15 year old F-150 here, I also take my brand new Jeep here. All the work completed is consistent, trustworthy & very well priced - you always pay what they quote you. From major body work, to engine work, brake systems, exhaust systems all the way to something as simple as an oil change & tire rotation - they will do the job thoroughly & parts will be ordered right away to ensure the job is done & done fast. I always feel they go above & beyond to make me feel taken care of & to ensure I understand exactly what is going on with the vehicle & the services they will be providing. The warranty on their services speaks to how much they trust their work & you should too. Call ahead - they get pretty busy on account of how many people are loyal to Johns Tuffy. I am a Tuffy girl. Tuffy for life!
I do not understand the good reviews this place has gotten. Our experience was a nightmare! Took our sprinter in to have a couple of injectors replaced. I came back from a vacation a day early, because that is when they said that they could work on it. Was told two or three days. Ended up being five (plus) weeks. The worst part of it was the dishonesty. They kept saying things like by the end of the week and 95% chance done by Monday and it was still over 10 days past Monday. Almost no communication on their part. Nope, we had to call them to get lied to. Working with them was the worst experience that I have ever had. Husband had to rent a car to make it back to Alabama to be in time for the kids and grandkids to celebrate Fathers Day (and then drive all of the way back to get our vehicle back.) I understand that things can happen, but the way that they handled this was horrendous. The stars that I gave them was from when we first took the van in, they were very nice at that point. I can not seem to change it. They dont deserve any stars for the work that they did for us.
Tuffy Troy is a service center I can depend and rely on ANYTIME I have issues with my car. (Ive been a customer for many years)The owner John and staff are very helpful, knowledgeable and professional.*Recently, I had to have my car towed in after working hours. I recieved a call at 8:00 A.M. the next morning with (axle shaft) diagnosis and the car was repaired and ready for pu at 11:40 A.M same day; which also Included an oil change and replacement of a broken hose clamp.Thank you again for a job WELL DONE!
Great place with great people! I brought my class B RV mercedes sprinter van in and these guys went above and beyond getting my problem resolved. Just could not ask for better service. I will refer all my friends to this shop in the future if traveling thru Michigan. Thanks again to Mike, John and the guys for helping me out.
Very good price for oil change considering the amount of work performed. Been elsewhere and the same service is not performed.
VERY helpful with an immediate issue my Prius was having even though they were quite busy.Three thumbs-up!!!
We’ve been coming to John and the guys for years. They always get the job done correctly for a fair price. If you want to come to a place where you don’t have to worry about being treated correctly, bring your car here.
Great Customer Service as always, the staff does a very thorough and comprehensive inspection every time. I’m always very impressed with the quality of their work. I would highly recommend them
Thorough service. Staff gives time to go over work done.
Very helpful... 5 star customer service... They made a tough situation easier. My daughters Caliber run like a dream now... I feel better when she drives it.. now that its fixed completely & safer to drive.. Thanks Tuffy team great job.
Great place to go when you need help with your mechanical needs. The owners work with you and legitimately want to help you out
Ive taken my vehicle to John & his team several times, and theyre always able help out. Theyre often able to get you in the next day & return your car in the same day. Once I stopped in unscheduled on a Sat, & they had me back on the road within a couple hours. Great service, would recommend!
The best guys to have working on your car! Reliable and honest. Clean shop best prices in Michigan! John and Mike are willing to go the extra mile to help you.
Superior customer service. Trustworthy, straight forward and willing to go above and beyond. So thankful for their help.
I have been going to Tuffy in Lansing for a while now but moved to the area recently. This place was amazing and quoted me $200 cheaper than a competitor. Their work was fast and excellent quality. Really professional and personable employees. Great place!
Excellent Social Distancing Service!!!They came and picked up my car and serviced it, took it through the car wash, and brought it home to me. My car needed a wash bad and I didn’t ask them to do it and they did it no charge. It came back looking like a sparkling new car!!! The work they do is top notch. I had no personal knowledge of the crew before I went and they treated me like I was a part of their family or personally recommended by someone and I will take my car to them as long as live in this area. Thank you!!!
Used to bring my car to John and Chuck back in the late 2000s before I left the area. I just recommended them to a relative recently and decided to write a review. They were just moving in next door to there bigger shop when I left. They always treated me fairly. Do their best to get you in if In a pinch. Prices were very reasonable. They give it to you straight, tell you whats wrong and give you options for what needs to be addressed and what you can leave alone.
They dont pull any punches, they get the job done when needed, reasonably priced, have had lots of work down there. You cant beat their oil lube and tire rotation for only twenty bucks and they also give your vehicle a safety check, John and crew will go the extra mile to make sure your satisfied with their services and most of all they stand behind their work, they didnt try to weasel out of or throw disclaimers at you when a problem with a covered service or faulty part was bad, they made it right!
Received a quote over the phone that was honored in store with no issues. Repaired only what was needed when other places insisted on a full replacement. Made an appointment and was out in 45 minutes.
John and Mike were fantastic when I needed new breaks. Great price, friendly and fast service! Would 100% recommend to anyone in need of any car service.
To be threatened by the owner (John) to never come back or Ill have problems and be sorry.Lets start my saying that I have been going to this Tuffy for at least 6 years. I like to fix my own cars to save money but when I can not fix it myself I bring it hear. When I first started to go here they were running a promotion that was for lifetime oil changes. I thought awesome how could I pass that up. I payed the full amount due for the lifetime oil changes and had ok service. It would typically take a hour to a hour and a half for them to complete the job.Fast forward to today 6 yrs later. Yesterday I went in there for a oil change like usual. They completed it and then when the owner John went to give me the keys he told me that we were all done with this. I asked John what he meant by that. John said that I would not be receiving anymore oil changes. I told John that I bought the lifetime of oil changes. John said that he didnt care that he would be breaking that contract and didnt want to see me again in his establishment and continued to threaten me by saying not to come back or there would be problems and I would be sorry if I tryed to take him to court over this issue. He also did this with one of his service write up guys sitting right next to him. John was saying that I was playing a game with him and that he was fed up with me because he wasnt making any money off of me.This is not ok and I hope people see this to know the real owner of this Tuffy (John)
Terrible place to get your car fixed.... PLEASE DONT GO HERE! This was the worst experience I have ever had with a auto mobile company. First, they had my vehicle for a month claiming they were locating the issue. Which costed me a world wind of unexpected money. I had to rent vehicles every week that cost $200 a week so there was much urgency within the issue. SECOND, they charged me $775 for a COIL PACK & tow for 14 minute drive. Initially they misdiagnosed the vehicle and attempted to charge me for a $700 part. So I went the cheaper route and had it shipped from Ohio for $400. THEY NEVER NEEDED THIS PART AND THE VEHICLE WAS DOING THE SAME THING I BROUGHT IT IN. (so more wasted money) It was the most bizarre experience ever. When I would call to check on the vehicle to see where they are with locating the issue it was ALWAYS something... Either the technician was out on vacation, dentist appointment, doctors appointment, just had teeth pulled, basically anything they would tell us. I informed them that I need the car as soon as possible many times, and I know things take time but it seems as though they had absolutely no urgency at all. After the misdiagnose, they began to look for other areas to correct the issue which took another 2 weeks. They claimed they would work with the price however they even added things to that. John literally argued my husband down and stated hes charging so much because they had to find the problem. However DIAGNOSE IS FREE and finding the problem is there job. I thought customers pay for labor and work being done? But because he had to try different things, that was a extra charge. So that just shows me there lack of knowledge in regards of this. Basically as young people, we got scammed. Payed $775 for a simple coil pack and was without my vehicle for over a month. The experience was literally the worst experience ever, from the time frame to the final cost and I wish I would have just towed it else where after the misdiagnose and wasting money with that, but John ensured my husband that he would be able to correct it and would work with the price. I knew it wouldnt end well though. I have told all my friends and family, and my job which is a huge company that by any means necessary DONT GO HERE or you will be in a financial bind after being scammed. I had to post this, because anyone that can avoid this place, SHOULD avoid it. I dont want them to keep scamming people.
Great place my 1st time there. Clean
John is the service person very polite very informative I think John tried to save me some money he may have save me a little money theyre pretty good we use them for our service vehicles I think they do good work. Im used to doing a lot of work myself I Ive got an old and I work 45 hours a week got to let somebody do the work now I really cant afford it so expensive now but they do good work. Used to doing my own stuff and saving money
Always our go-to for car repair. They are reliable, affordable and help you out in a pinch!
I think they do good work my job uses them I would like to go there but I cant afford them
Ive been bringing my car needs to Johns Tuffy for almost 15 years for many reasons, but the over-riding one is they do great, reliable work for a fair price. The people are nice, and thats a definite plus, but my own experiences as well as those of several people I have referred there, have always been excellent. Ill keep on going back!!
I have been reaching out to Tuffy,Troy for all the concerns I have with my Truckfor almost for 2 years and counting. The staff is been very helfull, gets you a better understanding of the issue and the fixing process and prepare you and your vehicle to feel good. Also, watch out for their discounted price for regular maintaince services.Highly recommend!
Ive been coming here since my first car (2009) very trust worthy and they work with you. They will recommend what items need to be done now and what can wait. My whole family uses them. Also when ever somebody I know needs repairs I send them to Johns team.
I received excellent service from Chuck and his staff throughout the entire process of having my vehicle repaired. The team of employees at Tuffy of Troy listened to the issues I described I was having with my car; were considerate and pleasant in assuring that they could help fix my car’s problem; provided me with a timely diagnosis of my car’s issue; presented me with all the options that were available to fix the problem(s) with my car; were straightforward with me in terms of what it would cost for each repair; and advised me fully of their opinion as car professionals what would be the best avenue for repairing my car relative to my circumstance. Not to mention, they fixed my car quickly without sacrificing the quality of their work. Most importantly, Chuck and his staff were pleasant & upfront with me about the repairs that my vehicle needed, and were happy to assist me in getting back on the road. I unequivocally recommend visiting Tuffy of Troy with any of your vehicle needs.
I have heard nothing but great things about the Tuffy Crew. They are highly recommended as I will be having 2000 dollars worth of work done to my car by them. Very Knowledgeable and professional staff. Definitely will be taking my cars to them from now on. Awesome job Guys!!
Great team, great work, great price!
Ive had all three of my vehicles serviced and repaired here and have had no problems. The work was done promptly and finished when they said it would be done. The prices seem to be in line with similar shops, and they have coupons for dollars off as well. The work that I have had done by them was, oil changes, exhaust systems, shocks and struts, and brake repair. They replaced a broken motor mount on one car that the dealer had missed. I know this because the car always shifted hard from first to second. I had numerous oil changes done at the dealer and they never said anything about it. The first time that I went to Tuffy for an oil change, Chuck said it was broken. It didnt cost a lot so I had them fix it. Now the car shifts much smoother, Im assuming the hard shift had something to do with the broken motor mount. So Ive been taking my cars to Tuffy for a few years now and have had no problems. I recommend them if you want reliable service, friendly customer service and fair prices.
Ive been bringing my vehicles to Tuffy every since I moved into the area over 10 years ago. John and Chuck and the team have terrific knowledge, offer repair alternatives, and let you know the best way to repair your vehicle. I always use them for regular oil changes (Oil Changes for life program is awesome). I have been satisfied with all the repairs, and their team is willing to go above and beyond the ordinary to help keep my vehicles on the road. Thank you John, Chuck, and the team at Tuffy Troy!
Fantastic work
I would recommend John and his staff for my future auto service needs. They are extremely honest and very knowledgeable is regard to a wide variety of manufactures both domestic / foreign (mine was a Volkswagen) and the maintenance and problems. I recently moved back to MI and will trust Tuffy Troy with all my service needs. They have also taken care of my 76 yr old mother and deceased father for many many years.
We had the buggy towed from brand X because of an extremely high price. I wont name the competitor but it rhymes with Hell Fire. Jim could not have been more supportive of me being remote helping my student driver who was about to get rooked. Professional affordable and flexible. Wish I lived closer they would get all my business.
The team at the Troy Tuffy always does a great job. Every time I take my car here, they are honest and always work to get me a good deal on my parts and labor. I also like that they take the time to pay attention to other potential problems and let you know the severity so you can either wait or fix it right away. Thank you for being a wonderful car repair shop!
Started off with great, friendly service, but I paid for an oil change and tire rotation. I had a mark on my front driver side tire, so I could easily tell if they rotated my tires. I went out and checked, saw the mark, and went back in and asked if they rotated my tires. John said yes, and assured they did. Once I mentioned the mark he got someone to do it, but if I had taken his word for it, I would have gotten robbed. He didnt offer me any kind of coupon or apology. Awful first experience, and Ill never return.
Been visiting John and his Tuffy family with my cars for 2-3 years. I trust John and his staff. Family feel and atmosphere. I love that last time I had a question I was able to speak directly with the mechanic who did the work within a couple minutes of calling. Pricing always seems fair and I always really appreciate the explanations provided as to why something didnt feel right with the car.
I have been trusting Johns Tuffy with my vehicles for the last 10 years. I always leave feeling like a received a fair deal and that the work done is reliable. The guys always make sure I get to and from work while they have my car and with rare exception have my car back the same day.
John and his team are people to be trusted. Just last week I referred my daughter to Chuck and John, as I was out of town. My daughter conveyed to me that they even fixed a few small items we did not talk about. I find it very comforting to know that Ihave local resources I can have faith will competently repair my families vehicles at a fair price. Thanks guys.Jeff
They are nice guys, but they really try to rip you off. Every time I would take my car in there, they would find some other thing wrong with it that needed to be fixed too. But they were never pushy when I said no just please fix the original problem, so I went back a few times with minor repairs.Well, the last straw was when I recently brought my car in for some leaking coolant. I figured there was a hose leaking somewhere because the coolant was spraying in the engine compartment but not dripping out from beneath the car. They called me with a quote of $1200 to fix my car, saying I needed a new radiator and a new heater hose. Now, even if that had been true, no way on earth would it cost that much to replace those things when the parts cost under $200. I asked them not to do the repair, and when I went in to pick up the car, they told me that coolant had been just pouring out of the car faster than they could add it - which was not true in any way. When I checked the coolant before driving it home, it was full and there was no puddle under the car.I took my car to another shop who found nothing wrong with the radiator or the heater hose and instead found two small plastic Y shaped hose connectors had cracked. They replaced those, and $300 later my car is running fine with no more coolant issues. Save your money and find a new shop that wont try to take advantage.
John and Mike were fantastic when I needed new breaks. Great price, friendly and fast service! Would 100% recommend to anyone in need of any car service.
Always GREAT service by John and the guys at this Tuffy! The work was done as told and the pricing is very competitive!
Much better than I expected. John was able to get my car in and fixed with new mufflers, new O2 sensor, and a fuel system maintenance, all in the same day. And they came to get me from work!Prices for labor were fairly reasonable as well. Overall, very pleased.
Tuffy has always treated us fair and with respect. We have been bringing our cars to Tuffy for years. They work with us to make the best possible decisions without breaking the bank. We really appreciate the professionalism and friendly staff. Even though we have moved out of Troy, we will drive the extra distance to use Tuffy! Thanks guys.
John, Chuck, and Mike are always professional and exceptionally courteous. They perform any service with lightning speed and results are very satisfactory. Give them a call the next time your vehicle needs service!
I would recommend Tuffy anytime and, I am so happy to always come here. They are always respectful, actually show they care and they are always very nice.I always recommend them to anyone who needs repairs. They also dont do repairs you dont need and they go through and give you a detail report of the repairs you need, which i find really awesome.
My wife and I have been taking our two vehicles to John and his team for years. They are always quick and honest about any necessary repairs and/or services the vehicles need. Weve come to trust their recommendation. Having known John and his family for my entire life, I know he is always going to do the right thing for us and to keep us safe on the road.Forgot to mention he always orders an Uber to pick me up. Nice touch!
Ive been going to this Tuffy for years now because the crew up there is great. They always take good care of me and my car, and I trust them, which is probably the most important thing in dealing with a mechanic. In the past Ive had their quotes looked at by other people and the consensus has almost always been that I was getting a fair value for my money. Ive referred several friends up there, and I recommend them to everyone.
Great place, great people doing great work. We have been taking our cars here for years and they do everything from oil change to major work. Very helpful, very knowledgeable, very honest. Highly recommend.
This was my first time at Tuffy and I believe them to be one of the best places to get work done on your vehicle. I came in for just an oil change but I also asked them to take a look at what was hanging down from my car. They not only did the oil change but also fixed what was hanging down free of charge. As far as the waiting room and customer service go, They are great. They have two computers for customers along with magazines, television, drink vending machine, and coffee. I asked if I could buy the magazine I was reading because I wanted the recipes out of it but the man at the desk told me not to worry about it and said I could have it. I will be having them do work on my car from now on.
I have a recently purchased 2000 Jeep Cherokee. I knew it would come with some problems but I never expected a cracked cylinder head to be one of them... After having a horrible experience with the seller who lied his way into a signed contract for this lemon, I found myself in desperate need of some honest help. I went to three other places that refused to work on the car given my financial situation (as a recent college grad) and the fact that I was also dealing with what turned out to be a shady warranty service. When I finally made it to Tuffy, John, Chuck and the rest of the gang told me that my circumstances were not a problem at all and that they would take on my case no problem. Not only did they patiently wait MONTHS for me to finally get the money I was owed from the warranty service, they never charged me for storage of my vehicle nor did they make me feel like anything less than a respected customer; most other places wouldve gotten fed up with me, cut their losses and told me to head elsewhere. Chuck in particular helped me work out parts and prices to fit my budget countless times, while still providing me with a safe and reliable vehicle in the end.The work they did on my car was second to none and I have been singing their praises ever since. If you care about your car and the people that work on it, do yourself a favor and go see John and Chuck at Tuffy first... it will save you a lot of time and youll be much happier when its all said and done.Sincerely,Josh Robertsowner of the no longer terminally ill White Jeep Cherokee
I took my Toyota to a dealer and the dealer identified that the rear brakes were worn out at lesser than 3 mm. He recommended to resurface the rotor with new brake pads immediately. He quoted 350$, I thought it was costly and took my car to two other shops for second opinion. Both of them said it is useless to resurface the rotor and suggested a full rotor/ brake pad replacement with a quote around 300$. My wife suggested Tuffy, I took my car to Tuffy and they were very honest with my cars condition. They marked the rare brake pad condition as amber ~4 mm which can run for few more miles. They recommended a resurface as the rotor has got material. After resurfacing and putting in new ceramic brake pads, they quoted a reasonable 195$ (they even applied 50% off the new ceramic brake pad). Absolute value for money and they saved me more than 150$.They did run other test on my vehicle and showed my transmission fluid was worn out in an image. I am not sure how the Toyota dealer missed this. I decided to take my car to Tuff always. You save bucks and finally a big peace of mind as well. They did book an Uber to drop me off in home :) 5 stars!
I always come here when I need my car serviced! The team provides excellent customer service and is very detailed with the work as well. Highly recommend to all.
I have been doing all my oil changes, maintenance including repairs from Tuffy from last 4 years for all my cars. They are good at service. I really like their complementary pick-up and drop-off options. They have very good waiting area with free wireless internet.
Very positive experience. Had brake work done same day and they had my car back to me within 3 hours. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. I will definitely go back.
Trustworthy, knowledgeable, comprehensive mechanics at a good price.
These guys are the best. They really do a great job. I have been using them for years!!!
My family has been pleased to work with Tuffy for about 3 years now. Theyve taken care of 2 of our cars. They are friendly, honest and give good service.
Ive been going to Troy Tuffy for a few years now with my 2000 Expedition. Theyve always given me great service, telling what needs to be repaired now, and what can wait. I trust them enough to send close friends and family.Never had to return for a second repair, on anything. Ever.
Thank you John, Chuck, and crew. I was filling up my tires 2 or 3xs a week in sub zero weather because of leakage. After taking my car in and they brushed and cleaned all of my aluminum rims, I havent had any problems after 2 weeks. This is why I travel 50 minutes for their services. Ive been going to them for 8 years now and happy with their services.
They just do good work. No BS.
Has is my son-in-law recommended this place to me. They fix the problem with my car,but they also drove me home and pick me back up when the car was ready!
Wonderful people that work here. Got off work to find a flat tire. Not only were they about to close but the weather was horrible and they helped me out big time. Thank you all so much for your help and Ill be going back for routine maintance.
I have my vehicles serviced from time to time with Tuffy for last 6+ years now. They have demonstrated trustworthy and efficient. The problem seems to disappear and never appear again. Their recommendations are long lasting.
Tuffy Troy handles the bulk of my auto repair needs for 3 different vehicles. I find them to be trustworthy, knowledgeable, and fair on price. I can always depend upon them!
Consistently great service! Used them for years on 5 different vehicles and they know what theyre doing. Never have to worry about them recommending unnecessary work to make money off unsuspecting customers. Highly recommend!
John and the guys are the best.I have 5 vehicles serviced by them. They always inform you what needs to be done for safety and will never sell you what you dont need.
I had been looking for a place to take my car forever. Every place I went, the staff made me feel incompetent or treated me with little to no respect. Until I found Tuffy in Troy! I never feel like I am being talked into work I dont need. They talk me through everything until I understand it. I doubt I will ever deal with a dealership again. Tuffy is the only place I trust and feel respected. Thank you Tuffy!
Best in the Business! Finally, A Mechanic I can Trust 100 Percent!
John is a very honest guy, his guys have been there for a long time. Extremely honest and does good work
John and his team do fantastic work for a great price!
Great service at a good price. The waiting room has WiFi, TV and coffee. Honest place and you can trust what they tell you.
You can be satisfied after their work. Explaining all your concerns will be answered with friendly smile.
I’ve gone about 5 times with 3 different vehicles over the years and they have always treated me good and honored their work.
They thoroughly diagnosed my brake problems. Their report matched the symptoms I reported. They explained the root cause on the rear brakes and how this problem caused the front brakes to degrade prematurely. They gave me the options for what to repair, where to economize on replacement rear rotors and then gave me a discount on better quality pads. They kept me alerted to their progress and the work was done at the time promised.
This is the best auto service center that i have been too that actually gets the job done right. I would recommand bringing your vehicle here you wont be disappointed. Prices you cant beat.
Chuck and John are very professional. They supported me through the replacement of two tires and their rims. They informed me very well and did not pressure me to make any decision. The personnel of this store are very professional overall. In addition, the shop has a very well suited waiting room. If you come here, make sure to get the care club deal. For 60 dollars you can get a value of over US$400 dollars, including more than 3 oil changes.
We just received a thank you card from them that is signed by hand, with a coupon in the mail. It makes us feel like going back again. :-)
Great place to get cars and truck fixed
Tuffy acted with integrity and made the job right for me.
This group is genuine. Give em a call when you need service. I’ll be back.
Chuck is the best. Fair, honest and always looking out for the customer, always!
Take your car somewhere else, anywhere else. I took my car here to get the timing belt changed, and they ended up screwing up my engine and had for over two weeks. When I got it back, a sway bar link (I think is what he called it) was broken, and had to get that fixed too. Best of all, they only wanted to give me $30 a day for the additional rental car fees I incurred, even though THEY are the only reason I needed a rental car for 2+ weeks...My engine light came on a few months later, and the poor service and huge screw ups on my last visit at Tuffy made me wary of their competency when it comes to auto repair. I decided to get a second opinion at Autolab in Madison Heights. He pointed out to me that he didnt think Tuffy performed the repairs correctly, and that mechanic certification numbers were not present on any of my invoices. He recommended that I get the Secretary of State involved.Upon contacting the SOS, they decided to do their own investigation into the matter. They revealed to me that one of the two mechanics that worked to fix my engine was NOT certified in engine repair, which is unacceptable. The repairs had to be performed again under the watchful eye of a SOS master mechanic (apparently thats a thing?).I wrote this because I know its hard to find a mechanic that you trust, especially when you know nothing about cars (like myself). This was one place that I decided to give a try, but I can honestly say that if youre looking for an auto repair shop you can trust, you should omit this one from your search.FYI, I take my cars to Autolab in Madison heights now. His original recommendation to get the state involved made me confident that he runs his business with honesty and, more importantly, within state regulations.
This guys gave me the worse experince ever had, took my truck to get doors fix and got it back even worse and a $750 bill, now they want more money to do it right. Will never used them again, do not recommend using them.
I would not go here! We paid $250 to get our exhaust fixed! Once he called and said our car is silent and now ready to go we drove all the way there to find out our car was even more loud than before. Then he wanted us to pay another $600 to fix the issue they broke and told me if we drive it off the lot something will blow up!
John and his whole crew are crooks! I would never take even take my childs tricycle to them. They had our work truck in repair for MONTHS with no resolution! They finally repaired it. Ive come to find out that they never fixed it correctly and Ive paid a real mechanic to take care of the original issue and the issue of their ineptitude to repair anything properly. DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!!!!
I have been going to Tuffy for 5+ years now and they always take care of my car!!! When ever I have questions they are always there to help its like a family there!! Thanks guys!!!!
I have got a good service here, I did oil change and safety inspection... after that I never faced any issue. Thanks tuffytroy team.
Very honest folks to work with. They were recommended by a friend and I am so glad that I took their advice.
I came here after being told that I needed a new alternator (I think because I had mentioned I thought the problem was my alternator). I wanted a second opinion. So, after spending an arm and a leg for the diagnosis from another shop, I drove on down to Tuffy. I told them exactly what I told the guys at the other shop, and after checking it out, said I just had a bad battery. They replaced it for very, very cheap and I was on my way. My car has ran good ever sense. Thanks Tuffy, I will ALWAYS go here.
Friendly, casual, knowledgeable staff. Good quality service. Fair price.
I first went here for basic tune ups and checks on the car. The basic prices seemed decent and the customer service seemed awesome. I was really looking forward to having a new mechanic I could trust to take care of my care.A week ago I take my car in to fix the upper radiator hose and was quoted 400 bucks for half an hour of work. They said the part could only be ordered from the dealership and it would cost 270 bucks... for a HOSE and a piece of PLASTIC.I thought that was crazy, but if that was the only place they could get it, then thats what the price had to be. I did a couple of quick searches and found the part brand new I needed for between 100 to 130 bucks, between half to almost one third the price.Because tuffy seemed so great, I wanted them to do the work. I called them and said I have the part and would like to bring it in. They refused to do the work with my part. Claimed liability issues(plenty of other mechanics like belle tire have no problem using customers parts). So the only way they will fix my car is if I pay 400 dollars for plastic and a half an hour of work instead of 100 for the labor. You lost my loyalty and my money. You get 2 stars because aside from this I still respect your customer service, just not your business practices. Good luck Tuffy.
