The transmission for my car went and after calling the Acura dealership they recommended I contact Troy Transmission for the repair- It is a great family business who are reliable and helpful to the questions I had about the issue with my car. Unfortunately the old transmission was having trouble being repaired but they decided to install a new transmission instead for no additional cost which I really appreciated! The new transmission now works great for smooth gear shifts and the D5 light is no longer flashing which is a good sign and the one year warranty ensures that they will help if something happens again within that time. The steering wheel controls went sometime from when I brought the car in to the time I picked it up and they were kind enough to ensure that it was made right without any charge, I highly recomend this business for any transmission or other car repairs to have done!
Great place great people and awesome work..If I have any repairs needed I will be back.
Troy trans, did a wonderful job on my wifes car. The trans works great. Thank you fur all yer hard work....
Went there to get my transmission rebuilt because a friend I knew worked there. The receptionist which is the wife of the owner, when I called a week later to see if my van was done, she told me they ran into a problem and the radiator busted so I asked them where they going to fix it because it broke in their possession and she said no it would be around another $700 to get that fixed. And I caught her up in a lie because I said I was coming to pick up my van they said nobody touched it with a wrench yet, however when I said I was coming to pick it up because nobody touched it and I would take it somewhere else they told me the transmission was already out and ready to go back it so I asked her if I buy the radiator would they put it in she disagreed and said they had to use their parts and get their own radiator and it would be $700. So the next couple of days I went to pick up the van they pulled it out of the yard and did not ever test drive it with the radiator running. Now two years later the warranty is expired and I would not bring it back there to get it checked out after I had the radiator replaced because I was afraid that they would mess up something else and now the transmission is slipping I have several codes that I will upload the pages later and even when I agreed to pay the $700 for them to put the radiator in the lady at the front desk disagreed because she had a problem with me because I caught her up in her lies and said that they would not fix it I had to have my van Towed home which cost me another $150 and left without my car even running.Don’t ever go to the shop they were terrible it was a rude experience and needless to say now I have thousands of dollars of work to get done at another shop which I can trust
Best auto service Ive received since I started driving. Ive had about 4 cars already in life so, as you can imagine, Ive dealt with so many mechanics. Ive had incidents where a mechanic would help me and then Id find out from my dad that they actually played and overcharged me. The thing I love most about Troy Transmissions is that their staff is HONEST and FAIR. My top two requirements for my mechanic. I never go to anyone else and Ive never regretted the decision.
Great work! Fixed my transmission issue!
Good service.
Very personable and friendly. Reasonably priced. Quick service.
Troy Transmission rebuilt 4L60 for my 1996 Jimmy that didnt even last 8,000 miles off the rebuild. They didnt properly replace the transmission filler tube, which only takes 1 bolt on the bellhousing to secure it, and they didnt even bother replacing the grommet that costs $2 resulting in a continuous ATF leak until we replaced it ourselves. Not only that, now 8,000 miles later the car struggles to shift into second gear, and hardly third. I was really hoping for a more honest job, not a waste of $2,000.
I took my 2009 Saturn Vue to Troy Transmissions yesterday for a jerky/slipping transmission (car chugs when accelerating or decelerating around 40 mph).Mike did a very thorough road test and diagnostics check, and determined the problem was in the engine (ignition) and THE TRANSMISSION WAS FINE!The fix was much easier and much cheaper.Thank God for skilled and honest mechanics like Mike - I will not take my cars anywhere else from now on![PS - The comments about a rude receptionist are way off - Darlene was polite and professional, I even got free popcorn in the waiting room.]
Fixing the car isn’t the issue,Any number of people can fix your car. The issue is trust. Can you trust this mechanic to stand by his work and honor his warranty? I can trust Mike! I can trust him because he did just that. After he rebuilt my transmission and I had a leak he went back in and made it right. No games no bull just made it right per the warranty. Good family owned business. I would definitely recommend this place.
Great service. I have taken classic cars and new cars to Troy Transmission, and they always give great service. Fair prices, quality service, and honest people are what make this place great. Mike and his wife are great!
I came in recently due to an issue with my 2017 ford escape transmission. I previously had the vehicle towed into Elder Ford and after being unsatisfied with their quotes, I figured Id give them a try. Not only were we able to take care of the issue at a significantly reduced cost, but we were also able to to entirely replace the transmission with a used one rather than rebuilding the current. I dont write reviews ever but I felt that Mike, the owner of the shop, and his wife Darlene took great care of me. I actually felt like they truly wanted to help me and they did. As I stated before, I do not normally write reviews but I had to make an exception. A truly great experience. God bless.
I have owned 4 Safari/Astro vans over the years. I always had the transmissions rebuilt by an eastside company. Each transmission that was rebuilt lasted over 150,000 miles with never any issues. The owner finally retired so I needed to find a new company. Someone suggested Troy Transmission.I had my GMC safari van transmission rebuilt by Troy Transmission. The transmission only lasted 38,000 miles and then It began to have major problems. The gears were slipping and it leaked transmission fluid.I immediately took my van back to Troy Transmission to have the owner - Mike - look at the transmission. Mike said that the transmission fluid is leaking out of the shifter shaft seal. I asked him to fix it. He could not fix it because his shifter shaft seal removal tool was broken. Seriously? The tool is $10 at NAPA auto parts. In addition, Mike left the keys turned on in the ignition with the engine off which ran my battery down.I left Troy Transmission and went over to an auto repair shop to get an honest evaluation of my transmission. They put my van up on the hoist. They showed me that shifter shaft seal was leaking very very little and it is also above the transmission fluid level. Therefore, it is nearly impossible for the transmission fluid to leak excessively. I did add leak dye detector a few weeks prior. Using a special light the auto repair shop showed me that transmission fluid is leaking badly from the front main transmission seal. Basically the transmission has to come out of the van and be repaired. The transmission should have lasted at least 75,000 miles without issues. It lasted 38,000 miles. That is pathetic.I am very disappointed. They did a hack job on my transmission.I do not recommend Troy Transmission.Shame on you Troy Transmission!
Awesome people, super friendly with great prices
Never regret going to Troy Transmissions. Fair prices and good work. Much better than going to a dealer.
Was very good at getting quick and complete repair on my older car. Only did what was necessary.
This place exists to work on you car. NOT get your money. I was concerned about my transmission oil that is over 100,000 miles old. He made some decisions that I was skeptical about but Im glad I went with them. I had concerns O2 sensor replacements because there were recalls and I wanted them to service the part. In that case we chose not to service the part but he gave me a list of recalls that I didnt know about. Pretty cool! Ill let this family owned business work on my truck again FOR SURE!***This is a 100% authentic review.***
One of the last few HONEST trans shops. I have been referring friends there for almost 20 years nor. If you visit, tell Mike Jim sent you and says HI.
Today will be my second car back in this shop. They did a great job with my blazer and Im trusting them again.
Called to get an estimate and the lady that answers the phone is RUDE and so unprofessional. This company will lose out on business because of her. If I’m calling to get a quote and you have caller ID what’s the point of asking my name or information STUPID. Learn to provide great customer service because she is horrible and then you hang up the phone rude, just rude.
Excellent experience
Great people!
I took my pickup truck, i.e. 2004 Chevy Silverado two Troy transmissions about 18 months ago and they had to rebuild the transmission because we got stranded on I 75 and had to get towed back. At that time the truck would only drive for about a half mile once the transmission got warmed up. So we took it to Greg and he rebuilt the transmission. He also put a transmission cooling system in place. He says that I should have had one in their before and that would have saved me the transmission at this point. This is the second time Ive had the transmission fixed. But the first time anybody mentioned anything about keeping the transmission cool.I do a lot of driving and keeping my truck going is a priority. Our office is in Shelby and sometimes we work as far away as Ann Arbor or Brownstown or Grosse Isle. Often times when we are working we are busting out basement floors to install plumbing and other waterproofing items and we have to dig out trenches and pits and break a lot of concrete. We put all that stuff into a trailer and haul it to a recycling yard or dump. We get weighed a lot and with a full load and passengers we are usually over 9000 pounds. Pushing that much weight up the side of a mountain of trash requires a good transmission. So that is why I like to have Greg as my advisor and mechanic for the transmission. So now I have a new problem. There is a vibration somewhere under the truck is not bad right now but any vibration is bad when youre pulling a lot of weight. So Greg is going to get it back and go over it already talked about it, and it may be U-joint or other bearing. This is the kind of thing that tells me that I need somebody I can trust who is a craftsman at their work. I would recommend Troy transmissions to anybody.
The only place I trust to service my vehicle
Took my car here didnt see it for 2 months nothing got fixed, they ruined the interior of my car with black grease finger prints, currently sueing them in a lawsuit for all my money back they got from my warranty company.
Called today their web site says free diagnostic testing and the rude lady that answered the phone said thats if you get it fixed their very misleading and when I told her it was misleading she copped a attitude and hung up hate dealing with lying people running businesses will never do business their!!
