Katie and Lauren are awesome! From the time I made the appointment to the time for my bridal hair and makeup, the experience I had in this salon was very pleasant while they follow the safety protocols of the state during this pandemic.Katie did my hair style, we had a trial few days before the wedding. She was very nice, communicating well to me with what style I want, and done her work very well. Made sure I’m comfortable all through out the procedure, no heat/pain on my scalp. Hair products are very good. No unpleasant smell and no damage done to my long black hair.Lauren did my make up, she have good techniques and products. She is also very nice. She was very committed to her work and it was done well despite of having her covid shot the day before our appointment. I‘m so thankful to all the salon staff.It was a great service over all.

They were very accommodating, with taking me in as a last minute service. They were able to wax my eye brows which I needed done badly and was not able to get an appointment any where, but they did, and I was very thankful.......

They do such an amazing job that you can get your hair done and you have made a very positive impact on the way you feel about your self esteem and your self

I had my hair cut by Trevor. Trevor was super great, very nice, always double confirmed what he was doing was what i wanted, and was overall a great person. I just got a chunk of hair cut off, and Trevor gave me nice layers that helped lighten everything. The whole team seemed really nice and it was pretty busy when I went in. They screened me before I came in with a few covid questions, and took my temp at the door. I saw regular sanitization as well. Nice to see they are looking out for their customers and employees.My ONLY complaint is that when it came timeto wash my hair, the water was pretty cold. Trevor apologized since the water had been basically running all day. I don’t think I’ve ever been to a salon that couldn’t keep their water warm through a busy day. It wasn’t ice cold, but it wasn’t comfortable. Not sure if they need a new water heater or what.Other than that, my experience was great! Definitely will be my go to salon from now one!

Lisa did an AMAZING job on my hair! I went into Salon Moxie with a few pics of what I wanted to go for with my cut and Lisa knocked it out of the park! She was super friendly and when I had questions she addressed them with keen knowledge. This is the first time I have gone completely out of the box with a haircut and I am so in love with this do! Thank you, Lisa and Salon Moxie for helping me get out of my rut and feel so confident, edgy and tough! I will definitely be coming back in the future.

I have been getting my lashes done religiously by Emily since August. I absolutely love her and her work! The atmosphere is so relaxing in the entire salon. Every employee makes you feel welcome. Best experience Ive ever had in any salon. Thanks ladies! 💕🤗

10/10 recommend this place. My hair was a hot mess after I got it permed last year (at a different salon) and a lot of it ended up damaged/frizzy, and I decided I was just going to grow my natural color back out and stop messing with my hair. Came here to get my hair cut and get rid of all the damage and it ended up short and I absolutely love it. Shows off my natural hair color and I feel so much lighter! 😊 Very friendly atmosphere, and the pug hanging out around the shop was definitely one of my favorite parts. I will be back, for sure!

Salon Moxie did a great job with mine and my bridal party’s hair and makeup. They listened to exactly what we wanted and executed it with plenty of time for pictures. I was glad we did the trial so that I could have the pictures for what I wanted and they were able to experience my hair and skin. I felt beautiful and I thought everyone else looked beautiful as well.

Nichole was amazing! I just moved to the area and she made me feel comfortable and welcome, she was efficient and did beautiful work on my hair !! Cant wait to go back! 🤗

Realized my review from last summer is no longer up here so reposting with the update on what they did to fix their mistake. Not usually one to post negative reviews because everyone has bad days, but there is a difference between bad days and just plain bad customer service. Still angry about this experience.Went in to touch up my BLONDE hair because the roots were growing in. Somehow, even after explaining what I wanted, talking about touching up the blonde and getting the brassiness out while KEEPING the natural root color that I have and doing a “rooty blonde” I came out with BROWN hair. Not what I wanted AT ALL. And the new color in the roots is almost a RED color. And then I was told that it would be $120 as opposed to the $80 that I booked the appointment for, but if I had gotten what I had booked the appointment for, it would have been the $80 AND exactly what I wanted. At NO POINT did the change in price come up in the conversation with the stylist. And when I expressed my dissatisfaction at the fact that it wasn’t even CLOSE to what I had originally communicated, I was told I could book another appointment at full price to get what I originally wanted and had communicated. I came here because my first experience was absolutely great and the stylist (same one mind you) did exactly what I wanted and the staff was extremely friendly. This time, the staff became rude and defensive and blamed the miscommunication on me and I was told that I should have called in to book the appointment for what I wanted (which, if you remember, I booked it for exactly what I wanted in the first place). Absolutely frustrating and demeaning experience with Salon Moxie. The only good thing is that the cut came out beautifully. Horrible communicators.UPDATE: I was contacted by salon Moxie the day after I posted my original review and was told that, if I scheduled my new appointment within a week of my dissatisfied visit, they would fix my roots and do a zone foil on my hair at no cost if I would remove my review. I agreed - there’s no reason to keep a bad review out there if the salon makes a reasonable effort to fix their mistake. So I removed my original reviews and booked the appointment for the next day. First of all, I pulled up NUMEROUS pictures of exactly what I wanted my hair to come out looking like - roots darkened closer to my natural color and blonde highlights all around like my hair was before I even came in the first time. The stylist (Stacy) explained to me that a zone foil was just around the front to lighten up my face - okay whatever, I’ll take it. At this point I was starting to get a little worried that it wasn’t going to turn out. When I asked Stacy if she wanted to see any pictures of me with my natural hair color so she could get the roots as close as possible to it, she declined sayin that she remembered the color of my roots just fine and she didn’t need to see any pictures. I figured it would be okay because all the other pictures that I showed her had the dark roots like I wanted. Absolutely wrong on my part. The zone foil turned out horrible - where everything was a flat brown color before (one of my coworkers told me it looked like I got it from a box), I now have bright blonde chunky looking highlights on the front half of my head and nothing in the back. And my roots and the majority of the rest of my hair is colored to a almost strawberry blonde color. At the end of the appointment, Stacy asked me how it looked. And when I started to say that my roots were still not even close to my natural dark brown, she ROLLED HER EYES AT ME. Not only that but she started throwing nasty looks at her coworkers that once again felt completely demeaning. At that point I just left, because I’m not about to see if someone can fix their mistake when they’re so obviously rude and unprofessional - I was far too worried that she would intentionally do something that would make it look even worse than it did when I left. NEVER going back to that “salon” again.

Beautiful salon. Rustic yet sophisticated elegance. This place has everything including a super friendly and inviting staff. Receptionist was truly lovely (to speak with as well as to look at). I went to have eyelash extensions and although it was expensive and a little lengthy of a procedure it was worth every penny. The eyelash expert, Emily, was an extremely confident and skilled young lady with a calm, professional demeanor that was extremely comforting. A+ for Emily. A+ for Salon Moxie.

The experience here is awesome. When you walk thru the door you are welcomed by the receptionist. The customer service is excellent. The stylist have many years experience and are all very talented. Highly recommend for everybody looking for a new salon and stylist

There are so many salons in T.C. but this one I found so much better than the rest. Salon Moxie has a great atmosphere, great music, complimentary coffee, fruit flavored water and the staff are very professional. Dont get me started on the head massage before your cut. Nearly puts me to sleep everytime!

Just left there... already scheduled my next appointment. Wish I would have found this salon years ago.

This will be long so bare w me. I called the salon in search of someone to do a specific bridal style. When I was getting scheduled the soonest they could see me was just short of a month out from wedding date or the same week as wedding. I told them same week wouldnt work as I have MANY other things to get done week of. (I also didnt see the point of a trial that close to wedding bc what if I didnt like it then I wouldnt have time to figure a plan B out which is what ended up needing to be done here). So obviously I took the date short of a month till wedding. I told the front desk the specific style I wanted (Hollywood wave), never did she tell me they wouldnt be able to accomplish this style and just booked me. They called a few days before my apt to confirm which is when I asked if my hair shld be washed or a bit dirty bc I know my hair hold better on the dirtier side. The front desk told me most definitely without a hesitation WASH IT. So I did. When finally came time for my appointment right off the bat the stylist/owner told me she didnt have the skills to complete that specific wave but could do something similar . That is the only reason I agreed to continue but let me say- I was not happy bc had I known that I wouldnt have waisted either of our time. But since I didnt know until in the chair w wrap around my neck already and she stated she the could come close with something similar- I agreed. Plus not to mention I just drove 40mins to get there from Benzie AND payed my sitter extra to come early. She starts my hair and while doing it I could tell by the gallons of hair spray and re going over it she was struggling to get it to hold anything. (I wanted to tell her she needed to hold the iron more than 10sec per curl to get anything to hold,, but why give her pointers when Im paying her to supposedly do a better job than I can do) I told her that the front desk had told me to wash it or I wouldnt have and thats what she put the blame on, my clean healthy and natural uncolored hair. I could tell she 1) didnt plan enough time for this appointment bc she started rushing as I had to work at 3 (I told them this before during confirmation time and again when I arrived) --apt started 1:30! And didnt finish me until 2:55!! and 2) didnt do any preparing for the style I wanted by knowing ahead of time what I wanted and just expected to wing it. Well she failed miserably. Came time to pay. She knew I wasnt happy and offered to have me come in day before wedding to pre curl it so it will for sure stay day of wedding and come back for actual curling again day of---- FOR AN additional /double styling charge! 😂 Pay her twice bc she cant get anything done with it in 1 session, I dont think so.. I payed them and left bc I was already going to be late for work at that point .. Called back the next day expressed my frustrations, Could not give me any sort of refund but offered me a complimentary brow waxing. Looking at me for almost 2 hrs day before Im pretty sure she could see Im VERY blonde and have no brows. I draw them in bc of this. I also expressed this to her but thats all they could do for me.. Im livid and you see why from the picture (its the one in their photos with the angry emoji, Google Hollywood wave-nothing like what I got*Edit, photo isnt showing not sure why🤔🤔)). So unprofessional of them. Shame on you Salon Moxie.

Awesome staff and great work done

I had my first visit to Salon Moxie today. I was VERY nervous as I have extremely thick, somewhat unruly hair that is very tough for most hairdressers to cut/style. I had not been to a professional in at least 4-5 years and had resorted to my mother (ex-hairdresser 35 years ago) just trimming my hair all one length for what I realized was turning into a very dated boring hippy look which is not ideal for a 30 something professional. I got up the nerve to call Salon Moxie and schedule an appt with Amanda and could not be more happy I did. I gathered some photos knowing that my hair was not the same texture/thickness as the girls pictured and Amanda took the time to listen to me and also explain what was possible for my hair from her perspective. My new haircut is PERFECT! I will definitely be coming back as the experience was great and the whole staff was professional and sweet! :)

Salon Moxie is phenomenal! I am writing this review for my bridal updo in particular, but this salon has impressed me on so many levels that I refuse to go anywhere else for my hair and nail services now. Salon Moxie was professional, knowledgeable, timely, and accommodating on my every request and far exceeded my expectations; the ladies of Salon Moxie are truly masters of their craft.Arriving at the salon for my trial updo was a lovely experience. The salon itself has a homey/modern vibe with a great central location near downtown Traverse City. I was greeted with a smile from the receptionist and offered a hot cup of coffee or cucumber-infused water as I sat down (nice touch)! My stylist was wonderful; she was right on time and helped me to relax as I settled in. As a full-disclosure, I can’t imagine I was an easy client. I truly wanted to be, but I simply didn’t know exactly what I wanted. My stylist was friendly and extremely knowledgeable, but most importantly, she listened. Her updo solution to what I was trying to describe was exactly as I hoped, and she demonstrated great skill and experience along the way. By the time I left, I was absolutely sure I had made the right salon choice for my wedding.The day of the ceremony went seamlessly. Salon Moxie arrived on-site (early even!) and finished my bridal updo and make-up, as well as the bridesmaids’ in the time they said they would. The bridal team from the salon were wonderful to work with and were somehow able to perform their job smoothly and efficiently around the chaos of that morning. My hair and make-up couldn’t have been more perfect, and I adored my French pedicure that I received earlier in the week. Thank you Amanda and Heather!Last but not least… the PRODUCTS! Seriously, they are amazing. Salon Moxie offers natural, organic and vegan options in nearly everything they carry. The cosmetics they used on me were all organic and derived from flower petals – so cool! The make-up didn’t cake, wasn’t greasy, and best of all, it made every photo of my face look almost photo-shopped. Amazing stuff. The hair products were equally as fabulous. My ceremony took place on a beautiful day, right off of the water, but it was WINDY. My gorgeous ringlets stayed intact all day long, and more importantly, they were still soft to the touch (I hate crispy hairspray hair)! I was so impressed by their shampoo, conditioner, and hairspray, that they are all I use at home now.I would definitely recommend Salon Moxie...I would give them 10 stars if I could!
