Joe and Tim were awesome. They brought us a wave runner to long lake. It worked awesome. They even brought out extra gas cans to help keep it full. Great service! Thanks for fun on the water fellas!

Ive rented boats from ABR for many years. Joe and his team are great to work with and make the whole boating experience fun and easy. I cant wait to return to Traverse City and get out on one of Joes boats again next summer!!

We rented a ski boat for a day and had a blast. Jonah the delivery driver, was prompt and showed us how to use everything. I only wish we rented it for the whole weekend instead of just one day.

My family recently had a reunion near Elk Lake. We decided to use American Boat Rentals for a day out on the lake. We rented a pontoon on a Thursday for $450 which we felt was a bit high for a mid week rental, but we all really wanted to get out on the water. The boat was delivered to the Elk Rapids marina at 9 a.m. And after a lengthy instruction time and boat check over my cousin drove the boat from the marina to the dock of our lake rental. We shut off the boat to load everyone up and as we prepared to leave the boat would not start. The ignition actually FELL OUT and back behind the dash area. We called ABR to tell them what had happened and they send someone to fix the boat. But even after they fixed the ignition we still couldnt start the boat. As it turns out our battery connection was bad as well. This whole situation took 3 hours to resolve, and we were unable to get out on the lake until after noon. The next day my aunt called the owner Joe to see what compensation he could give us. After a long breakdown of all the fees he said he could only reimburse us $25 for our loss of rental time. My whole family and I were disgusted by how poorly the boat was maintained as well as the terrible customer service.

Rented a Glastron MX 175 ski boat and 3 person tube. They brought a 1987 Four Winns boat that was hard to start and wouldnt idle for more than 15 seconds. Was promised the boat would have a 25 gallon fuel tank and we wouldnt run out of gas for our 8 hour rental. After about 2 hours of boating we were at half a tank. The tube they provided us was suppose to be for 3 people but only 2 could fit on it. When they came and picked up the boat we were on E and only got 4 hours out if it not 8. I followed them to the nearest gas station to fill it up which we had to pay for. Only 17.5 gallons fit in the tank. I called the owner who said it had a 25 gallon tank and the gas gauge must be off. I did a search while on the phone with him and all four winns of the model they gave us came with an 18 gallon tank. And if the gas gauge was off it should have been fixed before being rented. I highly recommend you choose a different company for your boat rental. Nothing but headaches from this company.

We rented a ski boat from ABR on 8/13/14. The reservations and delivery process to Lake Ann went well. The first indication of a problem was the difficulty ABRs delivery person had when trying starting the engine, and keeping it running. These problems continued for us throughout the day. The key issue was the lack of engine power. A 125hp inboard should be able to easily pull an experienced skier up and out of the water. This boat could not, and even struggled to plane out when tubing. Take a look at ABRs website - it touts new 2007 Glastron ski boats. Mine had 600 hrs on it and was obviously in need of an overhaul. ABR was unresponsive to my follow-up email. OTOH, the boat was spotless, they gave us a couple extra hours, and we had a great time cruising and tubing.

Called on was a dick!! Never call these guys again
