Over the past three years Ive taken five ASA classes, totaling 14 days of sailing, with GLSC and Ive found it to be a first class operation. The boats are always in good condition and the instructors Ive had, Keith Forton, Loren Newton and John Waechter, have all been excellent. I recommend them highly. The rest of the staff, especially Joannie in the office is great as well.

I have chartered in the Caribbean, Florida, and Bahamas for years. Charter companies have varied from very good to criminal. This is my first experience with the GLSC and a Lake Michigan Charter and it was all first rate. Professional staff. Professional and very clean on shore services. Boat was in excellent condition. Everything went smoothly. I was impressed with the sailing (this was a short charter; we never got out of the Bay) and will come back. The Gemini Cat we chartered wouldnt be my first choice if it were mine but sailed well and was a lot of fun.

My wife and I recently went through the sailing school taking the basic sailing and basic cruising classes. We are very impressed with the organization (Dave and Joanie were GREAT!), facilities, equipment, and instruction (Caption Lauren was AWESOME!). We would highly recommend Great Lakes Sailing Company to anyone local or out of town as they are a first class operation. Buying an expensive new yacht for the first time is a daunting exercise. Throw in COVID and living 1000 miles away, and it is really challenging for the customer, the dealer, and the manufacturer.I had exactly that experience this year - and the outcome was excellent. The owner of GLSC is also dealer for several lines of upscale yachts. He stepped me with patience and professionalism through the ordering process that was complicated by the COVID crisis. His extraordinary knowledge of the sailing industry gained from an entire career in the business was apparent all along.Same goes for the exceptional staff at GLSC. Every one is helpful and expert. A rare trait these days.I placed my new yacht in the GLSC charter fleet with confidence that it would be very well cared for. That too has worked out beautifully.

We had a great bareboat experience with GLSC and a wonderful long weekend aboard Wasabi. The boat was fun to sail, well equipped and well maintained. The staff were friendly and helpful, and check-in and check-out were relatively quick and painless. We hope to charter again.

Great service, great boat, Great Lake!!

In July 2020 my family rented a 42 foot Jeanneau monohull for five days and four nights of sailing in Traverse Bay. GLSC was very professional in all communications and I was impressed with the quality of the boat, which was named “lucky girl“. Given my limited time in monohulls of this size I was taken through a check out process which was very thorough, covering all systems, as well as a verification on my docking skills. The staff checking us out was very helpful and patient, answering all questions And providing good advice. We were very fortunate with the weather and had a great trip to Suttons Bay, Elk Rapids and Powered island. Would definitely rent a boat from this company again.

I can’t say enough good things about Great Lakes Sailing Company. My wife and I recently completed their ASA 101 and 103 training program, followed by a three day charter on our own. Prior to showing up we had absolutely no experience with sailing.The staff was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. All of our questions were addressed and answered in a way that made us feel confident. They made sure that everything was in order and that we had the information we needed to have a wonderful time.The equipment was well maintained and clean. The facilities at the dock included a wonderfully clean shower and restrooms. There were even flowers in the restrooms. We had access to a great kitchenette / TV lounge, and even to a free washer and dryer.The office staff and owners are very friendly and helpful. They made sure that I understood exactly what the paperwork was all about, and we had no issues on this front at all. In my book this says a lot about the people that we do business with.We had certain expectations going into this vacation, and we walked away feeling more than happy with the entire experience. How often can you say that about a company? I can’t say enough good things about Great Lakes Sailing Company.

Great organization, great instructors and great management team. Have completed all my ASA certifications with Great Lakes and I could not be more happy. I highly recommend their sailing instruction and the vessels are kept in excellent condition. Very clean, comfortable and inviting; but most importantly equipped with all the necessary safety equipment and in excellent mechanical operating condition. I highly, highly recommend chartering and learning here.

For the past three summers Ive enjoyed sailing on boats Ive chartered at Great Lakes Sailing. In 2013 my son and I took a class that was taught by Capt Dan Spyhalski who was one of the best teachers I ever had in any subject. In 14 and 15 I chartered boats and took my family members out. This year I hope to join the flotilla in June. These are good people with good boats where most anyone can have a great time.

Great boats, very well cared for and all of the crew are very helpful. I have chartered for last 3 years and never had an issue.
