Front office didn’t answer the phone during the two weeks that i have been constantly calling and did not return calls to the voicemails i have left. Then when i show up to the office the lady answers the door with an attitude and instead of helping us she is telling us to just call the office. There were two people in the office and they were trying to get rid of us instead of helping us at all. Horrible customer service and the area was dirty.
Shae’Da is the only reason I am giving the stars, she is honestly be the best so if you choose to live here have her always help you. A lot of bug, mice, problems. Also we had black mold in our apartment and they tried to tell us it was not mold. Neighbors loud.
The people in the office are rude except for Shadae. Misha at the front desk has been rude in every encounter that i’ve had with her. She gets smart with you, she’ll tell you that she doesn’t know the answer to your questions and talk down to you. One day I showed up at the office because they were not answering my calls and I had gotten locked out, I knocked on the door and nobody answered. I called again and still no answer. I waited at least 10 minutes before she came to the door and the first thing she asked is if I called first… I explained to her that yes I did but nobody is answering. She proceeded to get smart and say “well i’m the only one here” She has horrible customer service skills and should not work at a front desk.
Were you guys planning to salt, shovel, or plow at Kenilworth at Charles? Stairs, pavement, and roads are completely covered and very slick. I was able to shovel a few hundred feet and some stairs myself but like... a little help would be nice. Y’all must not worry too much about premises liability risk management!
I loved living at Kenilworth at Charles! The office staff and maintenance are very nice and get your problems handled quickly. We fortunately didn’t have any problems with mice while living here like other reviews mentioned. The only reason I didn’t give 5 stars is because of the noise level. We were a first floor apartment and could hear EVERY footstep from our upstair neighbors. At first it was bearable but the last few months drived us crazy. Living next to the stairs doesn’t make it any better! You can hear everytime someone comes in and out and every time they walk up the stairs it sounds like people are hammering at the wall. You can also hear the mailboxes open and slam close because they share the same wall as the bedroom wall. I wouldn’t suggest living on the first floor that was our biggest mistake but other than that it was great living here!
We haven’t moved in yet but I wanted to take a moment to shout out Shae’Da in the office. Not only did she help us find the perfect apartment, she helped us understand the application process, which location would be best for us, she checked in on our progress and let us know what other steps we would need before move in. Shae’Da is 90% of the reason we signed a lease here, she made us feel right at home!
MICE,MICE AND MORE MICE!!!! It is disgusting!!! Nice maintenance men though.
This place is the worst . I Have people above me who party all night. Ive made complaint after complaint to know avail. It sounds like the whole entire house is shaking. Do not I repeat do not move into this building where this complex. You will wanna be out as soon as you move in. They show you the top floor so you dont hear all the noise is youre going to be here
Management really needs to put no soliciting signs on building entrances.Contstant knocking of energy supplier solicitors got really frustrating. They lie to trick people with different stories just to get your electric and gas choice IDs.No soliciting sign is the least they could do.
Lived here for 2 years in college from 2015 - 2017, affordable price with nice interiors considering the location and other apartment options. This is one place I would recommend living in. Management service was commendable.
Mice problem. The pest control offering by apartment is not helpful at all. Thin wall and noisy neighbors. Won’t recommend to anyone.
I’ve never written a review before but my experience here was so terrible that I had to share. Honestly don’t live here. I truly regret it, as it was a last minute decision. I wish I listened to all the bad reviews as they are true. The walls are super thin where I can hear everything from the neighbors above me including conversations/arguments, intimate moments, each and every footstep, washer/dryer noises, bathroom noises, cabinets/ pots and pans being used, etc. My apartment literally shakes as the neighbors walk. This has caused me to have trouble sleeping and the noises wake me up every morning. I have filed noise complaints and nothing has been done. Leasing and management say this is “communal living” though I’ve lived in two different apartments buildings in the Towson area on ground level and never experienced anything close to this. I promise it’s not worth your money to deal with this. DON’T DO IT.
Honestly wish I had listen to these reviews before signing here.1) The Owner David is Great! But the individuals who work in the leasing office are awful. Worst management I have ever seen. They are rude, unorganized and even undermined my lease and the law. Shae’da in the front office had rolled her eyes and even gave out residents information to me which was irrelevant to the topic of conversation we were having but made me feel like my information isnt safe.2) The walls in my apartment are paper thin. I could hear the conversations from the people above me, it sounded like people were in my living room.Save your money and go to a better complex.
I must admit, this is my first time writing a review and I would like to express how awful it is to live at Kenilworth at Charles. They initially asked my roommates and I which unit we would prefer to live in, and basically gave us everything opposite of what we had asked for. We signed a lease for a unit not on the ground floor level, and closer to the shuttle, however they changed our unit last minute and did not meet any of our small requirements. We have filed many noise complaints of which they refuse to settle and responded with it is part of living in a communal residence. Billing issues also came up where they gave us a late fee for a payment their automatic payment processor couldnt process, and seemed clueless where the fee even came from but still demanded it. People working at the front desk of the leasing Office will only give you attitude and a dismissive tone towards college students. One good thing about the complex is their maintenance. They are very quick and funny/nice workers. however, DO NOT LIVE HERE!!! Not worth your money or energy dealing with these clueless people.
Rent is extremely too expensive to be a 3 star property
Im never one to write bad reviews, but after my recent experience living here I feel that its best to warn others about the careless management and ridiculous leasing terms of this apartment.Ive lived here the past two years. The first year was fine, but this year has been nothing short of a consistent battle with the leasing office and maintenance. Cockroaches and mice came first, and exterminators had to be called 3 times within a 2 month span. The real kicker was when our vents collapsed in our apartment. We spent over two weeks with our entire apartment covered in plastic as they ripped holes in our floors and ceilings to move our venting system. NO HEAT WAS IN OUR APARTMENT WHEN IT WAS 19 DEGREES OUT. When I asked if we would get a rent decrease or any benefits? A decrease in rent? Anything? The response was that unless the apartment was unlivable, we would stay there. Space heaters that circuited our electricity every 5 minutes and barely worked? Men in and out of our apartment all day for over 2 weeks? Basically no heat in the winter weather? Sounds pretty unlivable to me. We received absolutely nothing from this leasing office, except for degradation from the management as they tried to downplay the situation. When speaking with the leasing office, the supervisor continuously talked down to us as if we didnt understand the terms or conditions of our apartment or lease. The final issue came about when I told them we had a gas leak as well. I got met with a response of Oh, ok, sure... you dont because we had our maintenance supervisor in there today and he would have smelled it. I had to repeatedly ask this supervisor for someone to check our apartment for a GAS LEAK that could have been very harmful, to only have them come over and confirm that we did in fact have one, shocker.Living at this apartment complex has been nothing short of a nightmare. My roommates and I have had to go to Continental Realty Management multiple times to try and fix situations that should have been easily resolved with the leasing office. Every time I walk into this leasing office I feel horrible. The power trip that this management team is on, and the manipulation they use against students and young professionals needing a place is horrendous. They squeeze you for every dime you have, and push you around to a point where you feel incredibly uncomfortable. I cant wait to move out of this place. Please dont live here.
These apartments are so nice and spacious and the staff is beyond helpful! You will never find a “perfect” complex in a college town, but this area is wonderful. They feel more like condos than apartments. Definitely worth the cost!!!
These apartments are great for students and are a good amount of space. The newly renovated apartments are great with brand new washers and driers. The apartments arent perfect, (ie. paint and minor nicks and things on the walls) but theyre great for what you pay for and the location. The maintenance team is super responsive and prompt and come within hours of submitting a request. The shuttle to the university is convenient. The leasing office staff is always very nice and welcoming.
I just moved in and my experience so far has been wonderful. Compared to other housing options in the area, Kenilworth at Charles is offered at a great price and includes all of the amenities I was looking for. The units are spacious and clean, the neighborhood is safe and quiet, and the staff at the leasing office seem super friendly. My one complaint would be that we have had some maintenance issues that have taken a while for the staff to get to, but otherwise, A+!
I did not want to write a negative review because I liked the people working at the desk and they were very kind. However, no one knows the answer to any questions. They will overcharge you and never tell you when or why. They are essentially scamming college students and I cannot warn people enough. If you are looking for an apartment in Towson- do NOT move here. The apartment quality is not at all worth the price and management has no idea what is going on. Save yourself the time and money- move somewhere else.
The lack of security at the complex is astounding. Constant unsolicited strangers - the leasing office did a whole production two years ago claiming that they have put preventative measures in place to stop this issue. I’m still having people knocking on my door asking to see my various bills. Mail is stolen. Drunks will knock on your door and try to force themselves into your apartment. Only benefit is the location. Other than that, I recommend that you do NOT move here.
Decent place to live. Fairly good dollar to square foot ratio (since I had the deal 1250$/month for 2bed, 1.5bath). Has a balcony, which is a plus. Trash is close. Has a pool. Central air. Washer/dryer in unit. Carpet helps dampen sound a bit. I had prompt response from maintenance for routine issue ( couple hours after filed). Seems to be a lot of young/college age people. Some families. Parking is fairly close (usually). Online payment.Parking isnt great because there arent enough spaces for residents (and subsequently visitors). I commonly have cars parked behind me. Can still hear neighbors through walls and especially windows. Package delivery sometimes goes to the office and takes a while to be sorted.I think that covers most of it superficially.
Everyone at the Leasing Center has been really nice. Maintenance responds quickly but are rude. Mostly college kids in the area so it can get loud at times. The walls are thin and you can always hear your upstairs neighbors whenever they walk around.
Very accommodating to their residents. Great maintenance, responds right away with any concerns. Kenilworth does a great job of keeping up with the appearance of the facilities as well!
Great location and good maintenance response time. I have had a few issues with pests, but it may be a result of living on the ground level. Overall I am satisfied with the space and management.
The walls were paper thin and because of that, we would receive noise complaints even on friday and saturday afternoons. This place is so unfriendly towards it as well, they told me that I should Listen to music through my headphones to not disturb my neighbors, as some people are more sensitive to music than others If you are a college student looking for a college friendly living environment, look elsewhere. They will charge you outrageous rates and try to deprive you of the most basic pleasures of owning a home.
I, and many people that I know, had the worst experiences living in this apartment complex - to the point that it has pushed me to decide on never renting an apartment again. Friends that lived here had such bad pest problems (mice, roaches, etc.) that they had to be moved to another complex by Continental Realty. My former roommate and I had plenty of issues of our own in our two years there. We were lied to CONSTANTLY.We loved our apartment layout and how cozy it was, but we hated everything else. The staff was so rude to us. They invaded our space for a little over 3 weeks to install a washer and dryer that we would only use for 2 months because we were moving out. Workers were waking us up early in the morning and making an absolute wreck of our living space. We had multiple billing issues, which turned into us owing them a good bit of money. We would lose power and/or water without warning.I could go on and on about this place, and I will share with anyone who asks, but the main problem we faced was with the property manager. She frequently lied to us. Anytime we walked in, even in the beginning, she had the worst attitude. No one in that office was actually helpful, so we went directly to the district manager at Continental Realty. We felt like people in the leasing office took advantage of the fact that we were young, with no experience in renting an apartment before. Working with the district manager was much more pleasant. She, along with other people in her office, were more than happy to help us. So maybe try another Continental Realty property. Before you brush this review off by thinking “why didn’t you guys just move out then?”, understand that this complex is in a prime area. We were full-time students who also worked part-time. When I wasn’t at school, I was at work, and vice versa. I won’t speak for my former roommate in regards to personal things, but moving was not an option for us. For me, it was because my mother was undergoing aggressive chemo treatment at GBMC (the hospital located only a bit further up Charles St.) for the entirety of our second year there.Bottom line: You will probably REGRET LIVING HERE. We sure do.
Very friendly staff. Apartments are spacious and cozy. If there’s an issue, maintenance gets on it quickly! Love my apartment.
My experience here at Kenilworth At Charles has been really great the staff in the leasing office took really good care of me I moved in back in November and the apartment I chose was not what I wanted so Elizabeth and Rachael took the time out to make sure I had what I was looking for and for that I am forever greatful and as far as maintenance Don and Joe are the best the are prompt very friendly and get the job done when I call for an issue they are there ... Thanks to everyone for a great and wonderful experience..
Nice place if you can get passed the fact that youll be living with mice. 8 out of the 9 months Ive been living here I have seen mice.Their exterminator has been to my apartment 6+ times and nothing he does fixes the problem. The fact that management has done nothing to help us or reimburse us for our terrible living conditions is a good reason why I would not recommend living here. They always give the runaround saying theyll send pest control blah blah. They act like they want to help but they have failed to get the problem fixed.Update June 2019: The mouse problem still persists, even after 2 more pest control visits since them reading my review on here. The mouse actually ran over my girlfriends foot and freaked her out. Thank god this is my last month here.
Friendly staff and timely response to any issues you may have. Free printing, coffee and snacks in the leasing office are a major plus!
So far a great experience with this place. Extremely fast and compliant with maintenance requests which is amazing (they show up the same day as the request is filed online.) Apartments are clean and mostly quietUPDATE:Since writing this review living here is miserable. The complex has gotten very sketchy with random people walking around and solicitors knocking on your door saying they are from BGE. The leasing office is extremely unorganized and clueless. They will give you misinformation and dont know how to answer questions pertaining to anything. Theyve ignored several (at least 6) noise complaints and stated that Its just part of living in a communal residence. Apartments are mice infested, they said an exterminator would come, but its just the maintenance crew and they put down sticky traps that wont catch anything. Their own automatic payment system is messed and we were charged a fee based on their mistake and they were not compliant at all to help. Live anywhere else :)
There are a lot of things I could say about this place... I’ve lived here for 2 years and stayed in 2 different apartments/styles. There are some pros, but unfortunately more cons.Pros:•Convenient. By a bunch of good places and not far from Towson U (esp the shuttle)•Space is good and not cramped•Allows pets, though personally I never got one•Leasing office is usually quick to respond to things and you can contact emergency maintenance•College kids, so if you’re one, you feel like you’re around people your age•Elizabeth and some of her staff have been so accommodating and very flexible. I’ve only encountered 1 or 2 rude people but haven’t seen them since last year. Elizabeth goes above and beyond and I’m very thankful for what she and her staff has done for me these past 2 yearsNow the cons:•The rent is pretty tough. And that’s just rent ALONE. Not including water, which is like an extra $50+. And to add Comcast and BGE on top is like a punch to your wallet. Definitely need help from a parent to pay for rent•Lack of parking. When school season hits, good luck finding parking semi close to your apartment. And visitor parking is a joke. 3 spots per lot (in a segment that’s houses at least 50?? Lol). Guests have to do street parking if they’re full and you have to drive down to get them and drive up, or expect your guest to walk from the bottom of the hill and come up•PESTS. This has been my biggest complaint. The amount of pests I’ve encountered in the last 2 years is ridiculous. In the first apartment I had, I had numerous complaints with pest control constantly coming over and looking at the same spots and laying cheap traps and “spraying”, yet they were there the whole year. I knew EXACTLY where they were coming from but pest control never fixed it so I had to invest and lay my OWN traps down and caught them faster than the cheap snap traps (the glue ones with a piece of chocolate on it works like a charm). He was also very rude and I do not recommend him. In the one I live in now, I haven’t had mice problems but lots of bugs: ants, millipedes, house centipedes, spiders, moths, you name it they got it. Also been going on the whole year•Walls and floors are super thin. If you have anyone above you, good luck. Every footstep sounds like a stomp and heaven forbid they host parties. You can hear music through walls and floors and even very intimate moments that I could’ve gone without. And the stairwell when people come in isn’t much better•Maintenance come in sometimes without warnings and often times I’ve had them tell me they came and not leave a reason why, or not leave a note at all•Going back to rude people at the leasing office: I’ve had a couple of situations where I put in requests and they claim to have fixed them but when I looked and inspected for myself, they have not sent anyone out and I called them out on it, to which they did not respond so nicely and I could tell they were getting short with me. If I had not checked I would’ve been given the go around•For the love of god, do NOT lock yourself out after the leasing office is closed because lockouts are $50. And I’ve done them a couple of times. Anything for a quick buck•Some of the maintenance people are rude and judgmental. I’ve only met one guy who was genuinely nice and took the time to explain to me a problem that he fixed.•Personally, I don’t think this is a place for kids. I’ve seen a family in my row and with college kids around, alcohol bottles around, and sometimes the smell of weed in the building, it’s just not suitable. Parties are had and music with extra bass play often. So if you or your kids want any sleep, I wouldn’t recommend•Sometimes your packages end up at the leasing office and they don’t always notify you to let you know it’s there. I’ve had to go many times and ask about itPersonally, I don’t recommend here. I don’t think it’s worth the $ for the quality. Get a townhome w/ friends! Or rent elsewhere. I have been ready to move out ever since I saw my first rat....
Great place to live! Office and maintenance are very nice and respond to any questions or concerns quickly.
Im going to start this off by saying do not do business with continental realty. I brought up my issues with corporate and I was ignored. Would have brought them to court but unfortunately (but fortunately) didnt have time because I had to pursue work in California. If you rent here be careful when moving out. I highly recommend walking through with someone to see exactly what youre going to be charged for because they will try to swindle you. They ended up stealing most of my security deposit. They billed my security deposit to replace their USED rug. The rug was used two times over and I was the third tenant on the original rug. This was bs because I kept the rug so nice when I lived there. Always made people take their shoes off. Always kept it clean. And was billed $350 for them to replace THEIR rug. They also charged me a cleaning fee after moving out even though I had to clean the apartment when I moved in. Kitchen, refrigerator and bathroom were all dirty af. If Im really being pressed, the balcony was really dirty as well. There was a towel rack inside the shower for whatever reason? And I took the bar off to replace it with a mirror and put the piece in the closet. I left it in the closet when I left but was charged $30 for missing towel rack. Piece was probably worth $8 max but thats irrelevant because I left it smh.Dont move here if you dont want maintenance in your apartment for random reasons pretty frequently. They pretty much had a reason at least once a month to be in the apartment. They forced me to have a washer in dryer installed in my unit even though the wash room was right outside my room. I literally had no say in the matter whatsoever I tired to fight it. Contractors were in and out of the apartment for weeks very early morning making tons of noise interrupting my much needed sleep for classes. The only light switch in the bathroom controlled both the fan and the light and the fan was annoying so I asked them to put another switch so I didnt always have to have both running at the same time. They told me they couldnt/wouldnt do it. I later went to a friends party in the same complex and lo and behold their bathroom had two separate switches. I called them on their bs and they made up some lame excuse like the buildings were built at different times or something even though all the buildings look exactly the same lolManagement comes off as extremely fake in my opinion. They act like they care about you and youre living experience but they really dont.So yeah that was my experience with Kenilworth at Charles. Would not live there again.P.S. If you have a pet you must know that the pet deposit is no deposit at all but it is a fee (i.e you dont get it back). AND on top of that you have to pay $25 for pet rent per month. No other place Ive ever rented has had both these fees in place. Its always one or the other or none. I could have excused the rug charge if it was taken out of the pet deposit but it was not. So after paying $1,000 worth of deposits I got $200 back 🙃 And thats keeping your apartment in immaculate shape. If youre wanting a place in the immediate vicinity check out Ruxton Towers its right across the street and your friends wont get towed from their parking lot. They will relentlessly tow you at Kenilworth with veryy little guest parking.
Overall, this is a pretty good place to live especially if youre looking for a pretty quiet neighborhood. The staff is helpful in most cases and maintenance is usually pretty quick to get things done! Only complaints I would have is how thin the walls/ceilings are; it gets extremely annoying hearing my neighbors above me stomping around. Staff doesnt really offer any help with complaints about that. The water will randomly turn yellow when you turn it on, usually only in the tub. Probably the most annoying thing is the visitors parking! Theres literally never any available visitors spaces because there arent that many to begin with; also, they provide visitors passes on Thursdays on a first come first serve basis, so good luck with trying to get one of those for the weekend!
Had mice problems, maintenence came many times to fix dishwasher but never got it working. Their contractors spent an entire month in our apartment installing a washer for future tenants(since I wasnt resigning my lease) making lots of noise in the early hours of the morning. Also there were a few times where we lost water with no warning, and our heat would blow cold air in the winter regardless of maintenence fixes Couldnt wait to get out of this apartment complex.
This complex is great if you work or go to school in Towson. Its tucked away but still close to Uptown and within walking distance to Trader Joes!
So disaponited i just move here less than 3 weeks ago when i go to dump the trash i found a lot of rats there, I had two mices in my apartment and see a snake near the window, the maintenance try to make every thing done But its seems to be normal for them, i was so happy at the beging cozy apartment and nice view but now am felling so uncomfortable cant enjoy my new place
Great apartments, very little visitor parking. Happy so far.
Nice apartments. Really nice management
So Far so good awesome leasing office
Not the best procedures when transferring a lease. But overall a nice place
Little spots for visitors, had friends towed and charged $200+ to get their cars back. Mostly college students in the area so they take advantage, which is irritating.
Friendly Staff Anny Is Amazing!!!!
Walls are really thin and you can hear everything
Good place to live
Worse experience ever
Takes care of residents
Rats
