Awful AWFUL apartment building. The apartment was falling apart when I first moved in and 2 years later it was actual garbage. Carpet made my skin itch, wall paint was coming off, and huge cracks in the wall. I was happy to get my security deposit back but found out they took 350$ because of pet damage. Not sure why Im charged that when they charged me a monthly pet fee of 25$ to begin with. Please live somewhere else if you can, ANYWHERE else.
I remember living here as a child, I must say it was awful back then in 1989. My parents were treated like garbage by the property manager as well as the other tenants in the complex. It is sad that some things never change, you guys can do better!
DO NOT LIVE HERE. If I could give zero stars I would. I have a list of complaints a mile long, but I will focus on them most recent incident. I have been with no heat for 3 days IN DECEMBER. My apartment is less than 50 degrees at this point and could be considered unlivable. The heat went out on a Saturday. Not only do you have to call the line and the leasing company at least 3 times to get an answer, but when I did it took almost 5 hours until someone came to my apartment. AND IT WAS NOT EVEN A DONNYBROOK EMPLOYEE that answered the ticket. The person who helped me was wonderful. Went out to get heaters as a temporary fix, but could not fix the furnace BECAUSE DONNYBROOK HAD NONE OF THE CORRECT PARTS. In fact, the issue was because they jammed THE WRONG PART into the furnace originally. I STILL HAVE NO HEAT AND CANNOT GET IN CONTACT WITH ANYONE. And this is just one of so many issues. I also have a giant crack in the wall of my apartment I called about 2 years ago. They covered it up BARELY and said they would be back to fix it later. I bring it up every time someone is in the apartment and THERE IS STILL A GIANT CRACK IN MY WALL. One time someone threw up in the building hallway and when I called, they said non one could come fix it until Monday. So it actually just sat in the hallways for two days. Never look at the air filters, they will make you sick to your stomach. They couldnt have changed them in years for them to look the way they do. Never expect anyone to come fix anything in your apartment for at least 3 hours after you put in a call. The apartment they will show you is nothing like what you will be living in and they definitely will skip over the mouse/rat problems. I have lived here for three years because it is in a good location for campus access, but it is overpriced, old, and dingy. And my loyalty to them clearly means nothing for they treat their residents with absolutely zero respect. Donnybrook is horrible, live somewhere else. DO BETTER
It was a great experience living there. My wife and I had to move to the west coast.I have a question though regarding the washer & dryer ( because I loved it ) what was the brand for the washer & dryer? I want to buy one, so hit me up please. Thank you.
If I could leave no stars I would. I moved in a month ago and already have a mouse in my place. I am confused since I live on the top floor as to how but Im guessing the state of the building. Ive contacted the office twice in a row asking for pest control. They say that they will be by Thursday and no one ever shows up! The first time they did they basically did nothing! DO NOT SIGN A LEASE HERE !
The Good: Management has always been prompt and helpful, as has maintenance. The people managing the day to day and taking care of work orders at Donnybrook have always, in my experience, been helpful, friendly, professional, prompt, and available. I have nothing bad to say about the way that these apartments are managed whatsoever! Also, Ive yet to see any mice or roaches anywhere. My apartment has been great from a pest standpoint. The Bad: I have never experienced walls as thin as these in any apartment Ive lived in previously. I can hear indoor volume conversation from the apartment next door. In the middle of the night, I can hear the fan that my upstairs neighbor turns on for white noise to help sleep. There is virtually no insulation between walls and you will hear everything. This might not be a deal breaker if these apartments werent essentially TU dorms. Expect loud partying frequently, lots of drunk college kids, and lots of late nights. This isnt necessarily a bad thing, but for anyone working normal business hours or anyone that enjoys calm, this can be tremendously annoying. These apartments are also a little pricey for what you get in my opinion, but thats probably a premium for being so close to TU.I would recommend these apartments for students, as you can afford to stay up a little later on weekdays and would be able to meet plenty of other students. For working adults, I would recommend looking elsewhere.
The staff is great, friendly and fully available. Deliana was wonderful in helping us move in, and other staff members have always been pleasant. However, young college students are the predominant residents, which in my experience, has come with a lot of partying, loud music, screaming, marijuana smells seeping into my apartment, etc. From a community standpoint, I would not recommend this place for anyone who is not a young college student. As for the unit itself: We got the 2017 remodeled unit. When we first moved in, blinds were broken, the tub was poorly refinished, and the kitchen countertops were a different color than what was promised. Also, mold grows around all the windows, especially when its colder outside. A plus was that the toilet was brand new, and they installed a new, still-in-the-plastic toilet seat. My biggest caution to you is that the walls are dreadfully thin. Regular conversations can be heard through them. This will be VERY problematic for working professionals who need sleep. As I mentioned, parties here can be loud, late and frequent.Overall, if you are a young student looking to make friends, this place may be perfect. If you are like me, and are an older student with a job, I would not recommend. I really wanted a short commute to the university, but that may be worth sacrificing. I wouldnt be surprised if most apartment complexes in this area for this price have similar setups in terms of community and unit quality. Hope this was helpful!
I have lived at Donnybrook for almost a year and a half. I live in a renovated apartment, which is very nice. In my time staying here, the staff is always kind and courteous, ready to answer as many questions that my roommates and I have. Maintenance is usually pretty quick to respond to any issues we are having. There was however, an incident over winter break, and our tub was backing up, even when we werent using it. Turns out the pipe was bad, so it took about a week and a half from the time we reported the issue until it was fixed. Many people have reviewed saying there are issues with bugs or rodents (knock on wood, we thankfully havent had major issues like that). We do stay on top of it by having bug traps placed around the apartment (mention it to the office and the exterminator will come by).Its on the edge of four stars for me. The one thing that held me back was that the carpet and walls are made of cheaper material or paint, so of course it looks great the first year, but who know what it will look like 5 years from now. Overall great location to TU, Towson Center, and food markets. I would recommend Donnybrook to others.
BEWARE. The first few months here were great, and the maintenance workers have always been prompt and helpful. However, Donnybrook decided to put in washer/dryers in halfway through our time living there (which was not disclosed when we signed a lease). It turned into a major renovation project which took months and went on way past the deadline. They told us we were not allowed to use half of our apartment or we would be fined. For months we lived out of the corner of our apartment, which was covered in plastic wrap and dust. Construction workers came early in the morning, played loud music while we slept, and generally made us feel uncomfortable in our own home. One day, they even left a hole in the exterior wall so it was open to the elements. We contacted the office to complain multiple times but they told us there was nothing they could do, and said that we should be grateful that we were getting a washer/dryer for free (even though we were moving a month after they were installed). To top it off, we were charged for a damaged carpet when we moved out. Management was overall inflexible, uncaring, and talked down to us. Before you sign a lease, make sure they wont pull something like this on you. Get it in writing!
When I first moved into Donnybrook I really liked it. We moved into a newly renovated apartment and had no problems. However, a whole year later we have had numerous issues like mold growing on our windows, little weird bugs crawling on our walls, leaky windows, the paint on our walls chipping and falling off. Recently, we got a whole new maintenance staff that is very unprofessional. I am so happy I am not renewing my lease here and I will not recommend anyone to live here. Over 2 grand a month, FOR WHAT?
Ive lived at donnybrook for over a year now and its great. The management is really nice and understanding and they do their best to fix any issues youre dealing with. Personally havent had issues with mold, bugs, or mice. The distance to campus is nice and the bus stop is in front of the entire complex when needed. Yes, there are some parties and people who blast their music but its not crazy like the colonies. Experience here so far is great and I plan on staying here the rest of my time at Towson.
At first it was decent. Then they had construction workers STOMPING on the roof at 7:30 AM!!!! So there goes any sort of sleeping in. You can still hear them even with earplugs in. It is ridiculous. They will also mow the lawn at 8AM on random days. You will probably have to call maintenance at least once a month. (I gave two starts because at lease maintenance is responsive and somewhat nice). You are paying for location. They also raised our rent when we decided to re-lease, and when we emailed them asking why they responded to our other question BUT DID NOT TELL US WHY OUR RENT WAS INCREASED! So unfortunately we will be stuck here another year. Hopefully things will improve.
The only thing that warrants a star for Donnybrook Apartments is the location.Donnybrook is overpriced solely on the advantageous location. The monthly rent is ridiculous as the bedrooms are absolutely tiny, as is the bathroom. My roommates and I live in a renovated 3 bedroom, 1 bathroom apartment and we requested dark carpets and when we moved in the carpets had not been replaced. Renovated apartments are never fully renovated here. The paint is peeling in every room and on all the doors. In our first three months of living here we had 8 maintenance issues which seems like a lot for an apartment that is supposedly updated. The maintenance staff is usually very nice, however, this morning we had a serious issue with a scheduled maintenance visit. We received written notice that in the next week maintenance would be coming to replace air filters and smoke detectors, check bathrooms and kitchens, and clean windows. Maintenance showed up at our apartment at 9am on a Friday morning POUNDING on the doors and screaming to announce themselves, we were all sleeping at this time and before anyone could get up and open the door they entered the apartment, saw that someone was asleep in the living room and continued as if it was not an issue. They proceeded to, again, not knock, but pound on the bedroom doors where residents were asleep. One of them continued business as usual with one of my roommates still in her bed as if it was no big deal. I was appalled at the situation and still do not understand why they could not come back later, as there was a weeks window, WHEN WE WERE CLEARLY ALL ASLEEP.We have been lucky with bugs, mice, and mold, only having a few issues with ants in the kitchen and some mold in the bathroom. However, there was an incident we were made aware of by another resident of TOXIC mold that made their apartment inhabitable which the leasing office staff was rude and negligible towards. We are VERY disappointed with the experience we have had with Donnybrook and will not be renewing our lease. DO NOT LIVE HERE!!
1. Nothing but obnoxious college kids throwing parties during weekdays2. Constant construction/maintenance on a weekly basis. (Whatever work they were doing below me, shook the walls and one of my valuable wall decor glass products broke, they park in the parking lot that is MEANT FOR RESIDENTS!!! Therefore taking up space to park, always yelling at each other, not talk but yell)3. Its not a very safe area as in theres sketchy random people always walking through the yards of the complexes4. The walls and floors are SO thin, you can hear word for word from your neighbors. Whatever your neighbors are doing, you can hear them.5. Has a problem of the these certain type of small bugs that always end up on the walls. I have to kill 1-2 every day...6.. Overall, the leasing office have been nothing but nice and pleasant except one person.
I dont live here anymore, but the time spent there was nice.
Didnt get an email about when they were going to send in guys to install the space for the washer and dryer, otherwise this apartment is fantastic! Little to no problems so far!
Bad customer service. Rarely pick up the phone during posted business hours. Don’t expect anything to be done correctly the first time. Odds are there’s also a mouse or bug problem in your apartment. Laundry rooms are musty and your clothes smell dirty as soon as you take them out of the wash. I only live here because they gave me free rent for a month and I can walk to school lol
I had mice, the paint on the walls was a slop job and would all chip off. Insanely small bedrooms, mouse feces under the stove, all my food was freezeburnt, insanely small kitchen, the bathroom tiles were cracked and the shower was all moldy. Overpriced due to proximity to campus... Bedrooms and windows had no molding. The windows would leak during the winter and leave puddles of water on the window sill. Constant solicitation from random Jahovas Witnesses and fraudulent BGE employees. Kind of a party hive...(Not as bad as colony tho)... The streets are unpaved, parking is a bloody nightmare, need I say more? If you have a car, and you want to live closer to campus so you dont have to buy a parking pass, buy that parking pass and live someplace cheaper (id recommend Henderson Webb apartments)Not during my stay, but just as I was leaving, there seemed to be a bunch of people who moved in on my block that walked around with pitbulls (or some kind of bull dog) off leashes. Trashy and dangerous.
Ive lived in this community for over a year now and most of the reviews here I would say are quite overblown. Some of the buildings are older but most have been or are being renovated. Yes, its not perfect and has its issues occasionally but the leasing office and maintenance crew are always on top of the game when things go wrong.Ive never had any bad experience with roaches, mice, or mold. Ive seen the occasional weird bug and such but thats just natural honestly, youre never going to be able to avoid every pest all of the time. Whats important to me is the effort they take to make things right. Things arent five star quality but its certainly much better than most places in Towson that youre likely to find for the price and closeness to the university (just a ten minute walk).
The management sucks, very little warning is given for when maintenance is going to enter your home, its loud, and theres rats in the wall. 2 stars because the maintenance crew are cool dudes.
Before moving here I was hesistant because I had read reviews complaining about the quality of the apartments and the management. I have since lived here for about 5 months and I find that the previous reviews are incredibly wrong. Yes, the apartments are old and a tad a run down... but they make up for it by being fairly inexpensive and extremely close to campus. The management on the other hand are really amazing. Whenever there is an issue they do their best to fix it in a timely manner, and they really work with you. I feel comfortable calling them and asking for help when there is a problem with my apartment, or if I just have a question. Im very glad I moved here, and I plan to live here for the rest of my time at Towson.
Its convenient because it is near Towson University but thats about it. I knew someone who had a mold problem, then I discovered that I had mold. I tried to tell them and they told me it was dust.
I lived here while being in college two years ago and it was not a pleasant experience. First things first, there was a continuous appearance of micr running around. Not good. When the leasing office was comtacted, they began to tell me that it was normal and that besides laying traps there wasnt much they could do. There is also the issue of the price. I lived in a two bedroom and the apartment itself was the size of a closet for almost 1300 dollars every month ontop of having to pay almost 3.00+ for laundry. I was happy to move out because I wasnt sure how much more I could take. I dont recommend living here at all.
The majority of the tenants, if not all, are students and as a former student tenant heres my complete obvious review.1. The management company does whatever they can to squeeze every penny out of you. To pay rent you must either mail it in or pay online. To pay online youre charged a convenience fee so you pay to pay your rent. Everyone I know who lives or has lived here have said they never get their deposit back. Donnybrook puts in new carpet after most tenants leave routinely but charge you for it. A friend was charged a complete bath tub for some obscure reason.2. The leasing office/ maintence staff are usually pretty nice but incompetent. I moved my bed and a bookcase half way into my lease and found black mold behind the furniture. I was told its because I didnt let walls breathe afterwards they came in and used Lysol spray to wipe the mold off. 8th grade science tells me the mold didnt grow on the surface, it grew through the surface.I complained about my downstairs neighbors playing loud music and shouting in the morning, afternoon, and evening. They even banged on my door and neighbors yelling through the door after someone called the cops on their party. After complaint multiple times I was told all the leasing office can do is write them a letter asking to be mindful with their noise. Im all for music and parties but a party on a Tuesday during finals is crossing the line.3. The washing machines here are horrible. Half the load comes out dry and the management company doesnt do anything since a third party company control the machines.4. Parking here during school hours suck since everyone and their mother park in front of the buildings to go to class. That one I understood and honesty is the least of your worries.5. If you find reviews anywhere else that are kinda odd but not negative, its because occasionally theyll run a leave us a review and enter a sweepstakes thing.6. At the beginning of our lease we were temporarily asked to leave so they could renovate our apartment and hike up the rent which is volunteered for. What we didnt volunteer was received go the same hike but not getting the complete renovations others got. Our kitchen was renovated but the bathroom wasnt touched when others had their bathroom, foyer, and kitchen renovated.
My twin son moved into donny brook i looked at the tub it was old as hell dirty the finish on the tub was gone then they moved out they took there deposit said the carpet needs to be replaced the tub needs to be refinished people dont be leave any thing they say they take your money i saw the carpets i cleaned them they looked good they say different so when the accuse u of the capet and tub needs to be replaced dont believe them they dont replace it they wait for the next person to rip off.they are no good kids dont move in it sucks!!!!! And im going to report them
Close to campus, free parking, noise level is pretty low on weekdays, and not too crazy on weekends
Terrible management. Fine if you never interact with them.
Great place to live...
Such a comfortable apartment!
Horrible and dirty place. Filled with roaches and rodent. This place mints money out of college kids. Avoid at all cost.
Management people are nice and helpful
Love it here :)
