Danny was very nice and thorough. They explained everything that was going on with my car; even showed me pictures so I had a visual. The price was fair, and my problem was fixed in a decent amount of time; due to the nature of why my car was in there in the first place. Needless to say Ill be going back for sure next time my car needs repairs.

Danny is a wonderful man, with a great family business.When we broke down en route from Utah to Vermont we were towed to Dannys.First thing in the morning he dropped what he had going and came outside to look at our vehicle and consult with us on options. He made calls to transmission shops, and puzzled over what he might be able to do to help us get on the road as soon as possible.His shop is staffed primarily by his family, and everyone there is as helpful and friendly as Danny. It was fun to meet everyone and see them enjoying their work together.On top of all this Dannys shop is immaculately clean, and he and his mechanics seem to do very timely, professional work.We cannot recommend the shop enough. Rarely is such professionalism matched with such friendly service. Though having car problems is never fun, the world would be a better place if every other garage was as helpful as this one!! It doesnt get better than this guy for sure. As mechanics can go sometimes......they can be less than what we are after. Never the case here. Danny and his folks will ALWAYS be as honest w/ you as you would want and expect them to be. Cost.......always cheaper then anyone else, nearly 10% or better. Quality of work........excellent. Stands behind his work and will always do it right the first time. Have been going there for over 10yrs. Cant say enough about this place and Danny. Good guy, God loving/fearing......great service.

We have been using Danny as a mechanic for years. I can only remember one time I had to bring back a vehicle twice for the same problem. He put the second part in for just the cost difference with no additional labor. So, the first part was free. My latest visit was a power steering problem. A Firestone shop told my wife it would cost $986 to repair. They also told her the vehicle badly needed another $2,000 in repairs. They were going to try to do all this work without asking until she stopped them. We took the vehicle to Dannys. They fixed it for $289. I wont tell you that you cant find someone cheaper sometimes, but I will tell you that Dannys Car Care is very reasonable and competent. They have proven this to me over and over.

I had very good service here. I had been living out of Topeka for many years so I no longer had a mechanic that I knew. I feel that Danny was honest, did good work, and didnt try to sell me additional services that my pickup may or may not need ( as some places do when they see youre an old lady that doesnt know anything about car repair/maintenance.)

My car totally died on me, and the AAA tow guy suggested Dannys. Danny diagnosed my problem, and even though I didnt have the cash to fix the issue, I was charged NOTHING for the 2 days my car was in the lot, or for the diagnosis. Honest, friendly people there. The experience was as pleasant as it could be, considering I had a busted car. They made it as effortless and amicable as possible. I recommend this place because they turned a stressful situation into a manageable one. A+!

The guy is truly an idiot! Read the rest of his reviews and make your own decision. At no point will a Radiator Replacement make you loose compression on an engine unless it has no coolant in the system and you (the owner) drive it until you lock the engine up after you blow the head gaskets out. Im sure Danny and staff know how to put Anti Freeze in a Radiator. Kinda like putting oil in a Engine.

We first started going to Dannys about 6 months ago when we needed to replace our transmission. He did a great job and the cost was less than expected. We took our other car in a few months later when we thought the brakes needed to be replaced. He told us they did not and didnt charge us anything for looking at it. He also does free used car inspections so you can see if the car you are thinking about buying is worth the asking price. He is very helpful about answering questions and patient about explaining things. He will tell you when something needs to be fixed ASAP and when it can wait.

My family only takes our cars to Dannys. Weve found them to be some of the most honest people weve ever worked with, not just as mechanics, but as friends. Theyve helped us so much with checking cars were looking at purchasing and are very clear in what work needs to be done as well as how soon it needs to be done. I cant recommend them enough.

I had them replace my tires on my car and they did great the first time I came in. After a couple months of having the tires one of them started to leak air so I called them to see if they could patch the tire or something. The lady at the desk said that they are busy and try calling back tomorrow. I called back the next day and she told me that I should call later in the day to see if she could get my car in I called her later and she told me no that she wont be able to do it that day. So I called first thing this week and she told me that she wasnt taking any cars until Friday. She never once in all my calls asked me if I would like to schedule sometime in the future. I finally gave up on this business and went somewhere else. Funny thing is the first place I called did it right and placed me on their calendar to come in and fix my tire and it was within 24 hours. Im done doing business with them.

Danny and his team came highly recommended as some of my family have frequested his shop for years. They have the reputation as honest and knowledgable. I was told i needed a roughly $4000 repair. Turns out it was something else entirely and the repair was about $30. I have a new mechanic.

Danny and his team are great professionals as well as great people. Im from out of town and broke down while getting ready to leave town after visiting some family. They worked very hard, even staying late to finish up repairs that allowed me to get on the road the same day!

I came in just asking if I could buy some transmission fluid. In the course of friendly conversation, he learned I was from out of town. So he took it upon himself, not only to top me off for free, but also put car on a lift and see what was going on for free. This is not a company that routinely does complimentary diagnostics, but he was very generous with me because he didnt want me to be stranded. I couldnt say enough good about Danny and his company. He truly lives out his faith in his work.

My family and I go to Dannys for all oil changes and recently had brake pads worked on. The only place to go in Topeka. Friendly, fast, and honest service.

DO NOT take your car here. Two weeks ago the S10 pickup truck overheated so it was driven in to Dannys and they state a radiator needs to be replaced due to a hole. They replaced the radiator and yesterday, the S10 died again, overheated, and when towed to Dannys he said the motor is fried from overheating and it cannot be repaired, the truck motor has no compression. He says theres no correlation between the new radiator and this overheating instance that has resulted in taking the truck to the junkyard. I told him this is due to one of two issues, neither of which is good: 1) the initial problem was misdiagnosed or 2) the installation and/or new radiator is faulty. Danny refused to take accountability stating only I know there was no leak two years ago when the truck was driven off the lot, I cant speak to what happened between then and now. Unethical and incompetent bastard!

I took my car to Dannys this week for a routine oil change and asked them to check all the fluids. They found the anti-freeze wasnt providing much protection anymore (130,000 miles and I dont recall ever having it updated) and they showed me the gauge from the sample they took. Because I didnt have time before my next business appointment, I told them Id have to bring it back another day. Danny also gave me a heads up Ill need tires in a couple of months but told me hed recommend an alignment first because of the wear pattern on the tires. He doesnt do alignments but gave me a couple of local shops hed recommend - hes simply looking out for a customer. There also wasnt any pressure with scare tactics to get the radiator flushed but told me to watch for really cold weather that will cause problems. This is an honest shop.

Danny is an excellent mechanic. He works on all my familys vehicles and also on our business vehicles. I would highly suggest him to anyone in the Topeka area.

This is a pretty long review but worth reading, I promise!Chose Danny to do a prepurchase inspection on a truck. Ford F-150 Lightning. Really nice and really fast. Was told by the seller that it was pretty much stock, which is what I wanted. Not super handy on trucks with performance modifications, which, whilesd tempting, would only get me in trouble!I live in Seattle, so all of our business is over the phone. Talked to Bri (pronounced Bree) and asked her much it would cost me, and she said its free. I told her that auto shops in Seattle typically charge $75-$100 to check out a car, even for a general inspection. She said that their policy is to do it as a courtesy so a prospective buyer can make an informed decision on a car purchase. Really? I tell her that while I appreciate this offer, I really want a fairly thorough mechanical inspection as well as a body and paint lookover and that I am willing to pay for this service, as I am assuming that their free service is pretty superficial. She said that they do a complete job, and while they are not a body shop, they will give me their honest assessment of the body as well. So i give them the OK.Danny himself calls me (not the other way around!) within 15 minutes with a preliminary report on the truck. Rotors will need replacing. Definiltely not stock. Near mint interior and paint. Asks me if he should proceed further. Why not, right? Says he will put it on the lift first thing in the morning and will report back to me. Sounds good!Danny calls me the next day. Check Engine lights are on signifying issues. Error codes as well highlighting other issues. Structural lowering of the truck that could not be restored to stock status. Test drive proved the truck was extremely fast but very hard riding and shifting....not my thing.So tempting though! Fantastic cosmetically in and out, super low miles, but things mechanically and structurally that I couldnt come to grips with.....so I reluctantly passed on it because Danny put in the time to point everything out and put just as much time as a local mechanic I use here in Seattle, which is very similar to Dannys: independent family owned and run with quality, pride, and value.Heres the kicker: offered him a $100 for his time and hoped it wasnt an insult......and he said he couldnt take it in good conscience. He basically said to pay it forward. If that doesnt take the cake!Cannot recommend Dannys Car Care enough, Thanks to them I made a sound decision on the truck! Its an unfortunate thing when you have to write a negative review, but hopefully the business will take this information into consideration and be better off for it (hopefully future customers will be too).I took my car to Dannys Car Care in Topeka to have the thermostat replaced as they had the best pricing - $200 versus the $400 other shops wanted to charge me.Within a week of getting my car back it began making a terrible (and loud) squealing noise when moving into first or reverse gear, or when turning on the AC. In my research and consultations, I was able to determine it was likely something to do with the serpentine belt being loose and slipping. For an MK4 Volkswagen, this belt is typically loosened to more easily reach the alternator, which is generally moved to reach the thermostat.I called Dannys and let them know what was happening, and that I wanted them to take a look and be sure my car was put back together properly. They said it shouldnt take too long to just look at the belt and I brought it in the next morning.This is where things got dicey.I was right that the serpentine belt was loose and slipping. They even let me come back into the garage to see for myself. However, the owner (I believe he was the owner) claimed that his tech did not remove anything to replace the thermostat. First off, the tensioner hides one of the bolts to the alternator, which covers the area where the thermostat is located. Dannys Car Care claims that they simply pushed the alternator aside to change the thermostat. Before leaving, instead of offering to schedule a day for me to bring it in and investigate further, to be absolutely certain they didnt screw things up, I was instead told that I probably need a new tensioner and I was given an estimate for one.Back at home, I consulted with a local group of Volkswagen techs, mechanics, and enthusiasts who were able to pinpoint the problem from photos I posted of the tensioner and belt. The problem was not my tensioner. The problem was that my tensioner had in fact been removed and, when it was put back on, the bracket was placed behind (on the inside) of the tensioner, instead of on the front (outside) of the tensioner. As a result of this, recognizably easy, mistake, the tensioner was misaligned and kicking the serpentine belt off.Thanks to this group, I was able to go into a local KC garage and work with a tech to fix it. It took probably 5-10 minutes and my VW runs great now (with no squealing).Granted, Dannys may not have been aware that this bracket was misplaced and so they didnt think to mention that as a possibility when looking at my tensioner and belt. However, they claim they never removed the tensioner, which clearly isnt true.To sum up, if you have a complicated car, like a Volkswagen, your best bet is to take it to a shop thats experienced in working on them.
