The gym is OK, decent for the price but the customer service is very poor and I was lied to on two separate occasions about when and how much I would be charged. I would be weary of the discounted start up cost because they will get their money back down the road and when I tried to cancel, they said they were putting my membership on pause however started charging me again without my concern. Watch your wallets people! Traditional gym “promotions”.

They have a good amount of cardio machines. If youre into weight machines you may have to wait on others but they have a great selection of free weights. They have a sauna, pool, and spa. There is also two racquet courts and a basketball court. The club also offers a variety of classes. They are very good about keeping the club clean. I have not experienced any issues with machines being unavailable or broken. All equipment seems to be in good working order.

If you’re gonna let your gym run in the 35:1 male to female ratio at least put up reminders for guys to wear deodorant. Should be an expellable offense 😂 . It’s not funny tho. I would suggest signing up only for a regular membership with them if you decide to join this gym. If you have issues I would contact someone higher than them. The gym is clean and has a nice arrangement of equipment. The knowledge on diet is also helpful. It would have 3 stars for that but the level of disrespect I have received from their lead nutritionist is not okay. A text can get a response at anytime through the day especially when it involves a household with small income that changed (cause of my need to cancel). Left two other gyms and I was finished within ten minutes and never heard from them again. Here I was told I was fine when I left and drove 180 miles away, but surprise surprise. Hope this helps anyone if they are torn between another gym.

The equipment/facilities here are clean and in good condition and the staff are friendly and professional. I would rate five stars but the COVID-19 protocols are not keeping people safe.Masks are inconvenient when exercising but if the people who follow the rules put up with it to keep everyone safe, then members who won’t should be kicked out. Especially late at night there is no effort to enforce the rules, staff aren’t just not seeing it, they’re choosing to not say anything when it’s obvious. You should be searching out opportunities to correct people. Please do better, people deserve to feel safe!

1 star for my personal Trainer, a very good and professional trainer. He helped me a lot and also gave me as many suggestions as he can. However, the other guys made me really disgusted. The only thing they care about is money rather than you. I still remember that the first time and second time i went to this gym, and the stuff showed me different prices of their plans. They just mislead you when you want to learn about the prices. They also charge your fee when you start to your account; However, they promised that the starting fee is low!Pay attention! Do not give your ban account number to them because they can charge your fee every month. You can not schedule your classes for next month, because they have not charge your money. Thats so wired!By the way, it is a kind of rip. You have no choice to stop your membership even you complain and call the service. They will tell you that you can not cancel the membership. The truth is you can cancel it legally. On the other hand, they will tell you that only the manager can cancel the training seasons. The truth is i saw the cancel option on the screen and they just ignore it!!!!!! WTF??? If you want to polish up your service and impress your customers, you should let them know the details. Why hide the screen? Why lie on the programs? Why mislead people to buy your classes????For my suggestion, do not trust the manager and stuff. The only thing that they want you to do is charging the money!!!!!

One update they could use is water-bottle filling stations. Probably the best reason to come to this location, however, is the friendly, professional staff. From Ricky and Paul in Sales to Britni, Kyle and Cody on the personal training side, EVERYONE I interacted with here was extremely personable and over-the-top with their fantastic customer service. At no point did anyone ever pressure me to purchase anything, they simply explained their services/prices and offered to answer any and all questions that I had. I ended up going with the $41/month plan that provides unlimited access to any AZ L.A. Fitness and up to two (free) guests each visit and later signed up for personal training.Unfortunately, I ended up having to cancel my personal training agreement due to unforeseen financial reasons. Britni actually called to check on me and make sure everything was okay, and then immediately processed the cancellation, within 5 minutes of the call. It’s a pretty large gym with a good amount of equipment. Lots of cardio equipment and plenty of free weights. Where they lack is attachments for their cable machines. They have a few different attachments, but they usually only have 1 of each so it kinda interrupts your work. There is an Asian lady at the front desk who is always friendly and greets you with a smile other than that the employees are kinda useless. I’ve personally witnessed them walk by trash cans that are overflowing with trash. I would understand if they were with a client but they were not and a few minutes later I see them just kinda hanging out. They will also walk by weights that haven’t been put away. I understand that that is a never ending battle and people should put their own weights away, but if you’ve walked by a pair of dumbbells 3 time and no one is using them, pick them up and put them away. I understand that you weren’t hired as the janitor, but as an employee if you see something that needs to be done then just do it! The La Fitness in East Mesa is held to a much higher standard.*Update. I bumped it up to 4 stars. I went in today and they seem to have made some changes. Everything was clean and all the employees were out taking care of the club. Daniel even gave me some pointers on improving my squat. He was very nice and professional.

I signed up a few months ago for the training, and while costly, if you put the time in hell help and not waste your money. He knows what hes doing and has helped set up a personal workout plan per every three months. After which he changes it up to keep your body changing. During the time Ive been working out with him Ive seen my ability to lift heavier weights go up, my endurance has increased, and my pant size has gone down (was at 36/37 and now at 32/33 waist pant size). I like this LA Fitness for the reason that it has more upper body weight machines than any other ones Ive gone too (not counting the one in Mesa Riverview). They recently renovated here, so they redid the flooring and I think they might have revamped some of the machines too.The stretching area that used to be in front of the treadmills is now replaced with a turf with is supposedly reserved for personal training. (Seems like a bit of an awkward spot to train if everyone on the cardio machines are watching you.)My only other gripe for this spot is sometimes the pool has a little bit of dirt settling on the bottom and the spa has this icky foam that bubbles up and sometimes has dirt in it.Nonetheless, I am going to give them an extra star due to their good service. Yoga classes here are pretty good; love the teacher who teaches on Tuesday and Thursdays. Also, the front desk people are usually friendly and happily greet and say bye to people as they head out. James the trainer there is also a good pretty good guy; he helped me reverse a charge that accidentally got charged for training by working his manager on it.

CRAZY stuff about the lockers getting broken into--you mean they cant fix or purchase lockers that are safer? I originally wrote this review 3 years ago and nothing has changed! Every couple weeks there are 3-5 lockers in the Mens Locker Room broken into. In many cases they pry the door right off.Plus my biggest complaint about the whole chain is THEY DONT RECYCLE PLASTIC WATER BOTTLES! Corporate Management said: We obey local laws. REALLY? Thats the best you have in 2015??? At the same time, they encourage members to sign up for online billing and payment because its good for the environment! REALLY? Even the Pure Fitness locations they bought out and closed used to recycle plastic water bottles! Yeah, these guys at LA Fitness are the best!UPDATE:The mens locker room situation is a little better. Now, only on average ONE locker is broken into a week--usually by having the door ripped off. Maybe this is progress. Yet, I still dont understand why this problem cant be solved. It does not happen at other local branches! I mean, everyone has to clock in, and I assume a member discovers his locker was broken into within an hour of it happening. The gym KNOWS who were the people most likely there at that time. How hard could it be to identify a few people who were in the gym when multiple break-ins happened? Or, why not put a video camera right outside the mens locker room? That gives more information about who was in the locker room at any given time. This use of technology doesnt affect privacy in the locker room, and could be another step toward capturing the culprit(s).

My wife and I’s experience with this L.A. Fitness has been horrible. My wife originally signed up for a personal trainer a couple months back because she had the motivation to workout, which was a good thing. Unfortunately, I feel we signed up with the wrong location.First off, my wife was told that she was signing up for a “buy one get one free” set of sessions. This would be where her and her sister both would be allowed to book monthly with their own personal trainers but only be charged for one. The trainer, Andre, who signed her up lied to her. She had talked to the operations manager today and he confirmed that this was not the deal documented in her file. So ANDRE JUST TOLD HER WHAT SHE WANTED TO HEAR SO THAT SHE WOULD SIGN UP!Now that is just the tip of the iceberg. Andre also forgot about a scheduled training session during this time, and also just plain cancelled on her. With Andre’s poor attendance and lack of respect for my wife’s schedule, she requested a new trainer. This new trainer also cancelled on her today! So in two months, she has been cancelled on three times! The policy states that if my wife would cancel with that short notice then we would lose that session, however, L.A. Fitness’s trainers feel that they can cancel whenever they want! This is not a good practice. My wife went and spoke to the operations manager today, Aaron Munro, to cancel her personal training contract and he told her it would be a cancellation fee of $400! He had explained to her that she had three days from the time that she signed up to cancel without a fee. THAT IS ANOTHER THING ANDRE DID NOT MENTION TO HER WHEN HE “SOLD” HER ON PERSONAL TRAINING. If he had mentioned this she would have cancelled because the SECOND time Andre cancelled on her was within that three day window. It just seems that operations manager, AARON MUNRO, feels that lying to potential clients is the way he wants his employees to sell his training sessions. And it also seems he is ok dealing with angry clients that have been lied to as long as his trainers get people to sign a $90/month contract. So if you are looking for a gym, yes L.A. Fitness is a nice gym, maybe just try a different location. Aaron Munro and his staff will just tell you what you want to hear and then not deliver.

Im really irritated with the knowledge of the employees and the way they handled this situation. I was on the fence about joining the gym because I was leaving in a month for military training. They assured me that I could freeze my account and I wouldnt have to pay while I was gone. So I joined while they had full knowledge I was doing so under a family account. When I left and I went to freeze my account they told me it was a $10 monthly charge to keep it frozen. Then after seeing I was on a family account they told me there was no freeze option. When I told them that I was given that option they said theyd have a manager call me back. Who never did. I called 2 weeks later to cancel again and I was given the same information with two options, cancel my account or continue to pay the monthly fee. I canceled my account and I wont be going back to them.

I paid $350 to renew my already 10 year membership when they took over 24 hour fitness. Shortly thereafter, they closed that location. Now I drive way further to find that the first two weeks at this location, 3 out of 6 classes attended were no shows by the instructors!!! What a rip off!!! I wish i could get my money back to go elsewhere. They have a huge attendance Nd have the money to pay enough to make it worth a substitute’s while to come in on call.

People complain about weights being scattered etc... Well of course they are. Just like any gym, when its busy the weights scatter. Its pretty close to ASU so theres a lot of college students. I love going in the morning because the place is very clean and everything is put away. The busiest times are between 5-8pm so if you can avoid that time is recommend it. Theyre always on top of their equipment maintenance and keep the equipment clean. They also play a variety of music throughout the gym. The nutrition bar is great too if you need something healthy between the gym and work.

They are not enforcing the mask policy. 1 out of 10 people actually have masks on.

I enjoy working out at this gym. The machines from cardio to weightlifting to the aerobics room are setup in a way where I feel comfortable working out and not setup for display.
