Everyone showed up on time and was polite and courteous, and the work was completed in the timeframe we expected. Communication was great. Totally recommend!

First rate installation of a 3 head mini~split heating cooling system. This spring (2021) my wife and I decided to add air conditioning to our house. Our dwelling has living space on 3 levels. We met with six contractors. Half recommended whole house air conditioning, the other half suggested a ductless heat pump with mini splits. Since our upstairs bedrooms get very hot, we thought the mini split solution was the best. Based on their reputation, long history of serving the south Puget Sound region, and price, we elected to go with Narrows Heating and Cooling. From our initial meeting with Chris Calhoun to our remote control instructions with the installation team leader, our experience was exceptional. Finally, the quality of the Mitsubishi product is outstanding. The interior units, which provide cooling in the summer AND heating in the other months, are very quiet. If youre considering a change to your heating / cooling system, I strongly recommend that you include Chris in the contractors you contact.

I have a multi-level mid-century modern home with inefficient floor-to-ceiling windows along most of the structure, the main living floor had been pretty much uninhabitable in the summers, so we finally decided to get air conditioning installed. I shopped around to several HVAC companies, Narrows Heating and Air Conditioning was by far the most knowledgeable and cost effective. Chris did an excellent job assessing our energy gain/loss and Im pleased to say that after multiple 90 degree-plus days the AC is unfazed and our house remains ice-cold and comfortable. They also installed a heat-pump/gas furnace combination system that efficiently keeps us cozy in the winter. The craftsmanship was well-done, the installation crew was courteous and clean. Very pleased with their work and would recommend them to anyone!

We knew we were going to put in a ductless heating system using the Tacoma Public Utilities rebate and/or zero interest loan program. We thought it would be for just one floor.Matthew at Narrows Heating & Air Conditioning came out to assess what we wanted, and offered some creative solutions that enabled us to expand that vision into two floors using a mini split. Their pricing and timelines were about the same as other bids we had, but this creative solution to our space won us over (thank you, Matthew!).Installation started and finished on time each day, and overall. The installers were clear with their scope of work, cleaned up as they went, and asked clarifying questions if they needed some guidance.Of particular note, the install team was a journeyman and an apprentice. The journeyman was very positive in the way he was instructing the apprentice, and that really says a lot about the character of this crew.I have recommended Narrows Heating & AC to everyone mentions they are thinking about changing their heating situation.Quality work by quality people.

As a construction company, weve used Narrows Heating & Air Conditioning on several projects. Theyve always done a great job and been fantastic to work with, so it was a no-brainer to contact them for work on our new office. Reconfiguring the layout of the building interior caused the existing basement ducted system to no longer be effective for the upstairs. Chris worked with me to select appropriate equipment for a ductless system to serve the upstairs portion of our office. Narrows Heating & Air Conditioning coordinated directly with our Electrical Contractor to ensure a timely, hassle-free installation.

Installers were clean, courteous and did a nice job. However, I made it clear from the onset that we were was installing new heat pump system to prepare home for sale and salesman stated that warranty would be transferable to any new owners. After installation and payment, I received the actual warranty which stated it was NOT transferable. Upon follow-up with salesperson, he assured me in writing that it WAS transferable and they would send me paperwork and instructions how to effect that.Now, 6 weeks later I have not heard anything ! So far, until corrected, I am NOT HAPPY at all !

It was great working with Narrows Heating & Air. We wanted to replace our furnace with a heat pump and get air conditioning to our second floor, which has no ducting to it. Chris with Narrows was the most knowledgable tech we had out to give a quote, and he steered us towards a split system that accomplished all our goals. His quote was both the most flexible and efficient solution that was pitched to us *and* the most affordable!The install went very smoothly. When there was some confusion about air filter spacing on the first day of install, they fabricated custom ducting to satisfy our requests. Additionally, when the existing ducting appeared to not be able to support the new system, as the quote had assumed, they tore out and re-did much of the existing ductwork for no extra cost and no delay in project completion date.Really just a great pleasure to work with. Highly recommended.

We had a very old outdoor air conditioner unit replaced. They moved the unit to a different location and re-worked the ducts, to cool more efficiently. The unit is quiet and the upstairs is much cooler than with the old unit. The installers cleaned up and youd never know they were there. It was a 2 day project, and though expensive, was a good decision. My neighbors had recommended Narrows, and we will too!

Narrows was by far the most expensive solution out of my three choices, but also had the solution that made the most sense to me and seemed like a guaranteed solution to my extreme heat issues upstairs. The crew was great and the workmanship was outstanding. They did a beautiful job with the install. Now I am having concerns about one of the units being able to cool to the set temp on average days. I cant get any action to address my concerns. Im not crazy. Ive had houseguests and they agree something isnt right. So as long as your install works great out of the gate this is a company Id recommend. If you need some follow up after the fact, this probably isnt the way to go.

Not sure what happened, but they didnt show up even closer to time. In fact, they didnt show and I cancelled. I had thrown my back out but still drove over to our other home and waited outside in the cold. I called and was told he was on his way. I wanted 20 more minutes with no check in, no phone call, noting. I get that theyre probably busy,, but I work too, and I cant afford to wait for companies who cant even call to let me know that theyre running late

This company is so reliable and professional. They are service orientated and respectful of the homeowners property (even leaving their shoes on the front porch!). They are prompt and will arrive early and wait until the scheduled appointment time before knocking on the door. The installation staff headed by Danny communicated to us through the complete project. The installation staff made sure that I knew how to use and operate the new system before the left. Danny provided a one-on-one guide through the remote to the new unit. Beside the new install, I have hired them for years to do my annual maintenance on the homes AC and furnace system. The bid was very competitive and I was more comfortable going with the super quiet Mitsubishi brand. The installation was quick and clean. Ash the foreman, explained the entire process before they started and then gave us a status update at the end of the day. Two days for installation and they were done. Global warming, bring it on!

From start to finish everything at Narrow was kind and professional.Although they were not able to come out as soon as some of the other vendors in the area to give us a quote, they were upfront about the timeline expected, and by far the most thorough in the inspection to make sure we would be purchasing the right equipment. I was looking to upgrade my 1981 furnace with a more efficient heat pump. Chris came out to my house and provided me with an estimate (my 4th overall) for my 2000+ sq ft, split level house. Chris inquired into what I was looking for, looked over the area, took some measurements and provided me with a detailed estimate for a new heat pump and air handler. Chris outlined what I would need to meet my basic requirements, along with the pros & cons of other units available. Trane has a reputation of high quality and I was pleasantly surprised the quote was competitive with other top brands. After talking with Chris, reviewing his proposal, and looking over other’s reviews, I knew this was the right company for me to go with to update my system.The installation was completed just as Chris stated. Narrows installed a multiroom mini-split in the summer of 2020 to replace baseboard heat in the winter and window A/C in the summer. I received 4 bids, and Narrows and Mercurios were neck and neck - the other two companies were significantly higher. I ended up choosing Narrows as I slightly preferred their Mitsubishi system to the Daikin that Mercurios uses.My experience with Narrows was great. The quote, financing, and installation went smooth and installation was done right on time. They have a lot experience working in older homes - my install was semi-complicated but it wasnt a problem for their install team. Chris, the owner, did my bid and I could tell he was more knowledgeable than some other companies people. He listened to my concerns as my converted attic bedrooms bake in the summer so he designed a higher output unit to provide more cooling power to those bedrooms. One year later, were experience record heat and the system is working flawlessly - the upstairs rooms are a cool 68-70 degrees.As for the product itself, the Mitsubishi mini-split works great and Ive noticed a total reduction of about 10-20% of my energy bill in the summer and winter - the mini-split is significantly more efficient than baseboard heat and window A/C units.

Our gas furnace recently started making some strange noises, and Narrows were quick to send someone out, identify the issue, and fix it accordingly. Due to my profession, I had relatively small windows of time in which I could meet with them, yet they made it work without any issues. I would recommend these guys to anyone!

Chris and his team of installers did a fantastic job on our Mitsubishi ductless installation. We installed three units on an upper floor and they were very creative in running the refrigerant lines in the most ascetically pleasing manner and didnt take any shortcuts that would have made the install easier. The installers were pleasant and followed CDC guidelines as well. The system works fantastic and we couldnt be happier with the work.

A recent residential installation of an electric Coleman furnace with a TRANE electronic air cleaner and necessary duct work for my basement was the second major work Narrows has done for me. The first was installation of a Trane Heat Pump and electronic air cleaner about 10 years ago. Both installations were done professionally and on time. Their work appears superior to me. Both times I think I received a commercial quality system for a residential price. Their maintenance on the heat pump has been meticulous and the system works very well. In sum, when I decided to replace my basement furnace, I simply called Narrows. I highly recommend the company.

This installation team was awesome and took extra time to answer several questions. Ive been in the construction industry for over 20 years and am an educated buyer. I do a ton of research before making a purchase like this (high-efficiency heat pump), and throughout the process, Narrows was our clear choice (we got SIX proposals for various systems), and their install team was equally awesome. I would highly recommend them for any HVAC work.

We have a 1940 home with a 70’s addition in Tacoma, we have thought about adding a HVAC split system to the addition portion of the house for years. It was cold in the winter and miserably hot in the summer.I knew I wanted a local company to complete the project. I had 4 companies bid the project, and Narrow’s was by far the most professional and comprehensive. The owner, Chris, met with me. He really knew his stuff, and when we made a decision to expand the scope to 3 rooms, he was right there for the pivot. He identified unique solutions to our setup and even noticed electrical pros/cons that the other companies did not see.On install day, Ash and Jeff came. They were clean cut, non-smokers/vapers, and excellent at communicating and working around remote school/work schedules. They walked through the job site, reviewed their paperwork, and walked us through their plan and timeline. They were able to be flexible and take advantage of breaks in remote school and work meetings, and stayed on time with the job. Throughout the time here, they kept our home clean and dust free, wore booties and masked at all times. And, went through the operations of the units, so we were up and running immediately! Ash made sure we knew what to do and what not to do. They were great guys!Our home is much more comfortable, I am looking forward to the summer to see how the AC side of the system works.

I had a great experience with Narrows from start to finish. From scheduling my free estimate through install. They made everything super easy to do and understand. They took the time to make sure I understood my options and my product. Would definitely recommend!

The attention to detail on the part of the installers was above and beyond. I can not say enough about the team they sent to my house.

Their estimator took the time to evaluate the house and installation to determine capacity needed (most others did not). The installation was on time with a minimum of disruption. The crew cleaned up the work areas before they left. The bill was the same as the estimate.

Narrows has been there for us for the last 20 years with furnace maintenance, installing ducts, new thermostat and most recently a new water heater. The process of finding the best hot water system for us and for our needs was done carefully and thoughtfully and the installation itself was just as professional. We are always grateful.

We had 3 bids and Narrows was the best rate, they were very professional and did an amazing job they even ran it under the house making for a very nice install. The AC is wonderful. I just wish we did this years ago. I highly recommend Narrows Heating and Cooling.

My old AC unit finally gave up after years of keeping up with a full-on western exposure. With the age of my equipment, I made the decision to replace my heating and cooling system. Chris from Narrows Heating & AC gave me a couple of options for replacement that was easy to understand. The install of the equipment went easy and the new system is working great! I never knew I wanted to control my heating/AC unit with my phone, but I like the idea I can turn the AC or heat back on from the airport after a vacation!Great service!!7/18/2014 Previous reviewI came home to my extremely HOT south-west exposed house during the recent heat wave. I got 4 bids on a new heat pump split system for our newly remodeled home. While not the lowest bid I decided to use Narrows Heating due to previous positive experience using them when I was a building engineer. They were very professional and thorough during the installation. After 2-3 years we have had a couple of minor problems caused by rodent infestation. While the problem was not with the installation or the equipment- but with a pesky mouse- they quickly responded to my service call and diagnosed and replaced a circuit board that was damaged due to a mouse nest. They then covered the board under warranty- above and beyond what they needed to do. This exemplary service is not so common these days- and very much appreciated!I have and will continue to recommend Narrows Heating and their stellar sales and service team to anyone who is looking for a trusted quality HVAC company. No one really looks forward to replacing their furnace and the substantial investment this requires. But when the old one breaks down, you have only one choice. That being said, my experience with Narrows Heating made the whole experience a pleasure from start to finish. With Chris Calhoun on the front end educating me on my options and diligently following up on all my questions or concerns, I felt assured that I was getting only the best in product and services. The installers were punctual, pleasant and friendly, and also gave us an excellent orientation to our new purchase.Narrows Heating was also instrumental in assisting us with obtaining excellent financing and working with the bank during that process. I honestly cant think of a vendor experience in any recent history, that was as smooth and professional as ours was with Narrows. With no reservations, I would very much recommend any other family consider them for their household needs.

Chris C. at Narrows H&AC was quick to respond to my request and very informative about my options for the installation of my split ac/heating unit. Installation was quick, taking a bit over half a day. This included the electrical, running the ducting under the house and handling a unique aesthetic request. The city inspectors also were glad to hear who had done the job, as Narrows does it so well every time it makes their job easier. Ive had the unit from the August to December and it keeps my little house at a great temperature regardless of what is going on outside. I would recommend Narrows H&AC to anyone looking for the services they offer.

A rare company that will look out for YOUR best interest and not just try to make the most $$ off of you. Chris was so courteous and professional in his evaluation of our home for our heating and cooling needs. I was so impressed with his knowledge of the industry and what would work best for our home. He was careful in walking us through his recommendation and I was so pleased with his genuine desire to equip us with the most efficient and cost-effective option for heating and cooling our home. He could have easily sold us additional items and drive up cost but it was clear that was not his intention. Their company motto proved true that the customer is their top priority. You feel that when working with them! I cannot recommend them more to you based off my experience.

The staff was courteous, professional and neat. Chris was patient with me while I tried to decide where to put the units in my house, and brought special pricing and financing to our attention during the pandemic pause. We asked for one change from the electrician and he promptly re-routed. Ash and Dylan worked quietly as my husband and I were both working from home. Im picky. I like things perfect. I only use Narrows Heating & Air Cond. because they perform to my standards. The copper piping and wiring and the whole install of our new compressor unit is straight and clean and works perfectly. I used them when we built the house more than a decade ago. They were great then as well. The new unit we got is incredibly efficient and cut my electric bill. Go Narrows and the gentleman Ash who really knows what he is doing.

We had 3 bids, they were comparable but Narrows was able to beat out the other 2 by working with us and within our budget. Quality work and when there was a minor issue, they did not hesitate to send someone back out to check it. Overall satisfied with the work. If you are in Tacoma, they will help you get the TPU rebate.

The folks at Narrows are very professional, courteous and honest. They answered all our questions regarding different brands of A/Cs and what was compatible with our current set up. Several years ago we had Narrows install a new air handler in our house and they did a terrific job then. Yesterday we had them install a heat pump to attach to that heat pump. As before the work was impeccable and the workers were professional and competent in their work. Would recommend to friends highly.

This is the second heat pump system Narrows H&C has installed for us (upstairs) and they performed just the like the first time. Chris came out to make an assessment and gave us an estimate. We agreed on a date in about 3-4 weeks. The crew showed up around 8 am, installed the unit, cleaned up and were out by 3:30 pm. A week or 10 days later, two inspectors from the City of Tacoma came out and inspected their work, signed off. My husband and I are baby boomers, so we expect good service as well as good value from our experience. Narrows went above and beyond to ensure we got that.
