This was our first time going rock climbing. It was a little intimidating, but after the class I and the practice we really loved it. We are looking to find a rock climbing soot in our area. It was a definite workout. Upper body. The coaches were very helpful and explained it very well to make u comfortable. It is a great experience and we cant wait to come back.
A great climbing gym with unique setting in a beautiful part of town. They have a good amount of bouldering on diverse wall angles, and 50-foot lead/toprope above the bouldering wall.Another thing I love about this gym is how everything is build around the individual architecture. It gives it character. This is one of my favorite climbing gyms, and I always like to stop by here whenever driving through New York.
Great experience and amazing personnel. These guys and gals know their jobs to the best of theyre abilities. They have knowledge that they freely share which is amazing in todays world. Keep it up and Ill keep coming back!
I missed this place. Great setting, interesting holds, challenges for all ability levels from climbing grades 5.6 to 5.13+, 40ft+ walls with auto belay, top rope, and lead climbing so you can climb even if you dont have a partner. They even have a party wall for groups. The bouldering is fantastic with all types of holds and surfaces including slab, vertical, and extremely overhung at 45°, 20°, and 90° surfaces among others.
Bouldering is set well and consistent. The rope climbing is mundane due to the lackluster wall geometry (mostly dead vertical, no real cave to speak of,) hence the 4/5 rating. Current training facilities are adequate. Staff are great, very friendly and helpful. No birthday parties, which is nice. Once they complete the expansion and add more bouldering and a Tension/Moonboard it will be very solid.
Great place to climb!! The staff is amazing, extremely knowledgeable and friendly.
Always love our trips here. Its a great and unique gym with lovely staff!
Jaw Dropping is the only way to describe this place. The gym has been open a little more than two months. I went to take a tour of the place and probably have fallen in love with rock climbing.First off, the staff are extremely accommodating. My daughter and I were given a full tour of all the amenities of the place. Our guide answered all our questions and explained different memberships in full. This is much more than just a climbing wall. It also has a full functioning fitness area. It includes cardio equipment, weight machines and free weights, too. There is a huge yoga room that is also part of the facility. Fully functioning men and women locker rooms really seal the deal.Their prices are ridiculously good. Not only do you get access to the multitude of walls, but also access to all classes and weight equipment. I am looking forward to returning to Central Rock to get my climb on!
Great experience! Super friendly staff, walked me thru how that facility works and all the options for a first time user. There were kids classes going on at the time I was there and those looked very cool if you have young kids that are into that.
I am new to climbing, and have had a great experience so far. I have been bouldering every other day since my membership and enjoying the atmosphere.I signed up online easily for their belay class so I can start utilizing the rest of the gym.
Loved this place! Wish the membership were cheaper.
Got a membership and regret nothing, my bf and I did the intro to belaying class (he’s climbed many times and picked it right up, where as I’ve never tied my own knots before ) anyways it took me quite some time to get the hang of it, but the crew member who was teaching us I believe his name was Eli was super patient and really helpful and didn’t get frustrated once when I couldn’t figure it out ... eventually I did so if I can do it so can you ! Everyone at the gym is super friendly and more then willing to help you. It’s pretty clean and spacious people are generally good about following social distancing and wearing their masks so it definitely feels like a safe environment both for climbing and anti COVID 👍🏻🙌🏻
This is a really great place with really great staff. It is clean and well maintained. They are strict with pandemic measures, and any time Ive had an issue it is is promptly resolved by the staff.
A ton of of space to climb in a pretty gym. Bouldering routes are set very well but I found that top rope and lead routes consistently lacked innovative setting and felt like ladders of differing difficulty.
Best Yoga class going every Sunday 11 b there or b square
New to climbing and absolutely love this place. Recently signed up as a member. Love the physical and mental challenge climbing provides. The staff is super helpful. Now that I’m a member i have taken the strength classes and it’s really helping advance my climbing. Highly recommend! Looking forward to having something new to do this winter.
The staff was nice, the equipment was good, it was limited space because of Covid. The walls were fun and over all it was a great time!
Clean, bright, friendly, always a good time.Ive been climbing here for ten months now, taken a number of their classes, and participated in a few of their events. Staff is always nice and great for advice on gear or technique, and the price is really great. No autobelays makes it difficult to top rope if you dont have friends in the sport. But the member community is great and helpful if youre not too shy to approach people for climbing partners.Problems for bouldering and top rope/lead change regularly, but stay long enough where you can project something just outside your comfort zone.
This gym presents a clean organized space that is good for working out. They are working hard and doing a good job to protect a members.
Friendly staff thats great to our kids!
Great gym, good coaches
Its a decent climbing gym, but members have lost their ability to give free guest passes. Now its half price for guests.
Nice place, good people, service. Thanks 😊
I joined with my teenage daughters 3 months ago. We all agree that the gym just feels good with a very positive atmosphere friendly staff and fellow members. It’s a great way to spend time with your family, encouraging each other while getting in shape. The climbing problems are changed often and there is a lot to choose from of many different levels of difficulty. Stop in and see for yourself. Frequent deals.
The gym is amazing, clean, and change their routes often. They are also great if you have any questions via email or phone! I highly recommend anyone to climb here!
Friendly staff, clean equipment, large variety
Great atmosphere and friendly environment. The classes are amazing. I love this place so much I lose track of time. They have classes with amazing instructors. Id recommend getting the membership. Its worth the price.
My little girl had her birthday party at Central Rock. She has not stopped talking about how much fun she had. The staff went above and beyond to make sure the kids enjoyed themselves. Dana, Lou and Aiden were AMAZING, professional and so accommodating! Some of the kids were first time climbers and a bit apprehensive at first but the staff put them at ease. By the time we were done the kids were mini rock climbing pros ☺️ Thank you for the wonderful experience!
After going a few times I joined Syracuses CRG last month. Initially I thought it would be a means to fill the void of ADK hiking for my son (age 6) & I in the winter months. However, thanks to the friendly & accommodating staff, I can tell you that we will be going even when hiking presents itself as a viable option in the spring/summer/fall. The facility presents a physical and mental challenge while, at the same time, promoting teamwork and verbal communication in a world dominated by digital communication & social media. 10/10
Was a great time with very friendly staff
As a beginner climber looking for a holistic gym, this place is perfect. The facilities are fantastic. Lots of different climbing and plenty of options for all skill levels. The staff are exceptionally helpful and personable. The fitness room has treadmills, weight racks, free weights, and plenty of exercise equipment (medicine balls, resistance bands, weight belts, etc.). Highly recommend checking out this place for a day visit or to sign up for a membership.
This place is awesome! The staff is great and super helpful. They keep everything clean and keep all the bouldering and routes interesting. They change often enough to be adventurous but stay long enough to let you work at problems. All sorts of climbing for all sorts of people!
The employees are very knowledgable and approachable. I never felt intimidated while I was there, and there were people of all ability levels using the facilities. Speaking of the facilities, they had a variety of features and training sessions you could choose from. Whether you want to do a yoga class, or are looking for the most extreme free climbing routes, you would not be disappointed with Central Rock.
Central Rock is great climbing wall with a nice vibe, I only used the bouldering walls so Ill focus on those. The bouldering walls are a good height with fun and interesting setting across a wide range of grades, allowing both experienced and beginner climbers to get something out of a visit. The problems are also changed frequently so youve always got something new to try.
Amazing climbing gym! Very clean and well laid out. The staff is very friendly and helpful, and there are many options for both bouldering and top rope climbing. Instruction courses are offered, and there is a nice fitness gym in addition to the climbing gym. I look forward to coming back again soon!
It’s a great place to climb! It has plenty of routes of all different difficulties so there is always something to climb for any age or experience. There is a gym with cardio and weight equipment along with a yoga studio down the hall from the climbing area. It has a lot of cool activities for members and camps for kids as well! I have been going here for the past 6 or so months and it’s always a great experience. Great staff and awesome climbing!
We had a wonderful time. The staff is amazing, very knowledgeable and patient. We felt very welcome and they went above and beyond our expectations for our first experience at their facility. We will recommend it to friends and we will definitely be returning!
Consistent setting and working hard to facilitate the development of the climbing community. If i had kids, i would take them here. Probably have them join the team too. The gym invested in high quality holds from the best companies in the biz, which makes for a great climbing experience.
What an amazing way to spend an afternoon! Aside from being great exercise, it’s a nice boost to your confidence & self esteem. We took our 8 & 10 year old—-they did great and want to go back. Greg was a great instructor and was super motivating. My husband & I are going to go back for the belay class so that we can take the kids ourselves. Greg mentioned after school programs & summer camp specials... definitely a great idea for anyone looking to keep their kids active
Love this place! Great community and allows me to enrich my experience of outdoor adventure. This place is more than just a gym. It’s a way of life!
While I love this gym, I find it aggravating to workout around so many unattended children. In light of my struggles, the staff has been more than helpful and kind in attending to them. It’s probably best to go for an evening climb when the kids are asleep!
Wow! Ive been a member at CRG for 2 months now and am consistently impressed by how friendly, knowledge, and helpful the staff is. The culture is inclusive and community driven. The fitness classes and weight room is a super valuable plus. I strongly recommend it anyone interested in climbing or fitness in general.
This is a great gym for all levels of climbing and makes it really easy to progress. Has bouldering and top rope/lead climb, and a small gym for cardio. If you want to top rope you need a partner because they don’t have any auto belays but that’s not really an issue since everyone is pretty friendly and you can always hop into another group if you’re going solo. Overall would recommend if you enjoy climbing since it’s the best indoor climbing gym in the Syracuse area.
Been going here for about a month. Staff is always great. Routes are great for the beginners and advanced climbers alike. There’s something for everyone. They also change the routes enough so you never get bored. 10/10 would visit again.
Very fun and welcoming atmosphere. Lots of amenities and great for all ages!
My 13 year old son came here for 2 weeks of camp over the summer and LOVED IT. The gym is very professionally run with a huge emphasis on safety. A fun, supportive environment for kids of all ages and abilities.
Amazing place for all levels. This easily became my second home after moving to Syracuse a month ago. Great people and a fun atmosphere!
Did the intro to belay class on Groupon which got us in the door.. love it here! We got a membership! Definitely something fun to do with a significant other or friend.
CRG is a great place to climb/train. There is a weight room/yoga classes, hang boards and lots of ways to enhance your climbing skills. Employees are great as well as overall experience!
Well done gym. The route density is just right, enough to stay interested but spaced out so that youre not bashing limbs into other routes. The building itself is pretty too, bug windows are a plus
Great place!! came here with friends and got a good sweat going. Good routes for beginners and offers good amenities. V10/V10
This gym is a beautiful facility and the staff is always willing to chat, hear members suggestion, and work towards improving the gym to help accommodate its members! What a fantastic way to get exercise and challenge yourself both physically and mentally. Love CRG.
Awesome place got me hooked and I cant stop! the first time I climbed here the staff was super welcoming and I learned a lot. The community here is amazing and its worth a visit!
Amazing. My kids first time, but went with some out of town family that had climbed before. We were all impressed with the facility and th staff was amazing. Kids can’t wait to go back.
Im so glad this gym is in Syracuse! Great climbing and they make an effort to do events and create a community. Happy to have been a member since you could pre-register!
My first time here and it was very welcoming. The routes are great and have something for every skill level. Ill be coming back
Well designed center with plenty of climbing options and bouldering options. Fitness center on site is included with a membership, and everything is clean and well kept. Staff is incredibly helpful and friendly. Tried it with a day pass, then joined.
Had a great experience here! The employee who set us up was so nice and even came around to check up on us midway through our visit.
Perfect gym for a beginning climber like myself, there are advanced climbs as well in both bouldering and top rope. They rent/sell climb supplies and provide fitness/yoga classes with a fitness gym and yoga room.
If you are looking for something to do in the Syracuse area check out this awesome climbing facility. CRG is a family friendly gym with tons to offer from yoga and fitness to bouldering and rope roping. Take a class and try something new with your friends!
This gym is an indoor rock climbing paradise. I have been to plenty of gyms and this is my favorite bouldering experience. They have something for all skill levels.
This gym is an indoor rock climbing paradise. I have been to plenty of gyms and this is my favorite bouldering experience. They have something for all skill levels.
I was very excited to find this gym upon moving to Syracuse. It’s newish, clean, has routes for all abilities, smaller walls and taller walls for top roping, classes, fitness classes, and yoga. Really great space!! Plus the staff are always very friendly :)
Climbed at CRG for one Summer while I stayed with family in Syracuse - hands down one of the best climbing gyms Ive been a member to. I recently moved to Boulder, Colorado - and I miss climbing at CRG. Highly recommend taking the lead climbing class if you want to really progress your climbing! There was an issue with terminating my membership after I moved. I sent them an email and received a call within half an hour. They explained to me their policy but still did everything they could to help me and the issue was promptly resolved. From the awesome employees, well-set routes, and exceptional customer service, I will definitely be climbing at CRG whenever I am back on the east coast.
When CRG Syracuse opened last December, I took the belay certification class so that my young children could rope climb. The staff was so inviting and encouraging that soon I started to climb, too. (Yes, you can teach a 46-year-old mom a new trick.) Im still addicted and the staff is still so friendly. CRG is a great combo of truly experienced/talented climbers and plenty of families/beginners. Give it a try!
Frequent problem turnover. Helpful and friendly staff. Open good hours. So much fun!
Best place to climb is Syracuse by far. Routes are well set and maintained and changed on a regular basis. Membership isnt too expensive either.
Rock climbing is a great hobby to pick up and a great exercise! CRG is friendly and fun! The staff is nice and knows what they’re doing. 10/10
This is the place to go!!!! They are affordable, clean, offer a variety of climbing as well as a gym and yoga room !!! Beginners feel welcome and there is a lot for advanced!! The staff was incredibly personable, friendly and helpful! I highly highly recommend !
Id never been climbing before and this was a great place to start out. It was some of the best exercise Ive ever had, and was fun to see a range from kids and new climbers to super skilled people.
I drive over an hour to get here and it is totally worth it! The bouldering routes are interesting and they have good holds. The lead climbing is limited in the overhanging wall, but overall the setting has drastically improved compared to last year. The boulder bash comp is so much fun and I have found many people participating in it who ask for advice or gladly share beta. If you do choose to come here I recommend paying a visit to the nearby coffee shop, but DO NOT GO TO THE BOULANGERIE. I REPEAT, DO NOT GO TO THE BOULANGERIE. Other than the nearby boulangerie, it is a great gym with delicious food nearby. 10/10🔥🔥🔥
Have a great time everytime there. Staff is helpful and friendly. Great place to develop your climbing skills
Such a great place to climb, run, lift, and yoga! Staff are extremely nice and the facility is clean. Its also family and children friendly.
Such a fantastic gym. The staff is super friendly and helpful, facility is clean, and there are lots of options for climbing, cardio, and fitness classes. I am glad to be part of this community!
Being new to climbing, I was at first intimidated by the high walls and new sport but the friendly staff and entire community at CRG is committed to sharing their passion of climbing with experienced climbers and newcomers alike. I love that there’s no need to have additional memberships at a gym or yoga studio since it’s all available here. They set new routes regularly so there’s always a challenge waiting for you- Thanks CRG for this exercise oasis in Syracuse!
Dope climbs, great staff, high quality fitness classes. This is easily the best and most fun way to stay fit!
Friendly people, great environment, Awesome workout. Very glad to have them nearby!
This gym is great whether you want to boulder, top rope, lead climb, take a yoga class or train in the weight room. All the staff are very friendly and always willing to help!
Fantastic rock gym. This place is great. My only complaint is about the membership price which seems a bit steep.
Central rock gym In syracuse is a great climbing gym. The staff especially Josh is very friendly and helpful. We had a great time I will definilty be back !
The best rock climbing gym I have been to thus far. Amazing staff and friendly environment...love this place
Awesome place, friendly staff. The mats are too comfortable and clean, would probably take a nap if it was socially acceptable
A great place. Staff is friendly. Other climbers are friendly and helpful making it a welcome environment. Josh catucci is a great addition to the CRG staff.
I just recently got a membership here and I couldnt be happier. The routes are great, everything is clean and well maintained and the staff ar for iendly and helpful. My only complaint is the price of the membership which seems a bit steep to me. But if you pay the price its an excellent climbing gym.
Great atmosphere & supportive learning environment. Amys yoga classes are wonderful.
Good clean climbing gym with lots of different routes and a good range of difficulties. There is also alot of bouldering which is nice and the routes are changed frequently.
Great place for beginner climbers interested in bouldering and top rope! Gym is very clean with new routes set weekly.
Awesome place lots of fun with a friendly staff. Would highly recommend trying it out.
So many ropes! So much climbing! I really had a blast and Id love to go back.
The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. Always a great experience here :)
Great community and gym with a lot more beyond the awesome bouldering and top rope climbing!
Great for all levels of climbers. Large clean gym with friendly staff.
Great space, plenty of challenging boulder routes, and tons of top rope options. Great value for the day pass.
The routes and yoga classes are both great ways to spend your free time
Great gym... Great staff!! Awesome climbing and many different activities !!
Climb on you crazy kids. Easy to get started, loads of fun, we are coming back for sure.
Best thing to happen to Syracuse since the creation of the internet - fresh climbs updated often, poetic setting of boulders, and friendly place to spend a few hours going up and down a wall.
