It was my first time here and didnt know which stylist is good so I went with whoever they suggested. I had BAD luck!I have long hair and I categorically told the stylist not to cut my hairs length more than 2 inches and to give me layers above that because Im super particular about maintaining my hairs length. She trimmed at the bottom and assured me she wouldnt cut more from the bottom. Then while doing the layers, somehow she decided to chop off another 4 inches from the bottom without my consent. Her explanation was bizarre - during layers we cut the bottom too - how does it make sense when I told her to leave the bottom layer alone!?!? Now my hair is much shorter and there was a weird uneven pointy end at the bottom. I was super disappointed. Ive had many hair cuts with layers in my life and hairdressers always respect the client when asked not to cut the length more than the requested amount.Kat (assistant manager) came by to apologize and offered to make the pointy end even. She was the only one who was professional and kind. But the fact of the matter is that nothing can bring back my length other than waiting for months for it to grow back.I had an appointment for hairstyling for an event the next day and Kat attended to me personally and did a great job with the styling.Im not sure if Ill return but if do, Im not going to let any hairdresser other than Kat touch my hair here.In terms of time, they messed up my appointment thrice, so they should include date and time in the confirmation text they send.

As a paraplegic, Im always a little wary the first time I go to a salon. America and Kat at Bishops are wonderful to work with and the space is absolutely accessible with very little anxiety about how to navigate the shop!They have stylists available who have both experience with curly hair and curly hair themselves, which always sets me a bit more at ease as someone whose hair can tend towards the Shirley Temple sausage ringlet side of things.My husband and I have both loved the enthusiasm that America and Kat bring to figuring out hair color, because neither of us were super into experimenting with our hair when we were younger, but weve been having a ball under their guidance.I originally found the salon by looking for trans friendly salons in my area, because I figured if a shop billed themselves as such, I wouldnt have to worry about whether or not they could handle an undercut with clippers in addition to styling the upper layer.Today I had the absolute nightmare scenario happen and failed a transfer from the shampoo chair back into my own and the whole team was caring and professional and if I had ever had any doubts about returning, which I didnt because theyre fabulous, the grace with which they handled my abject mortification was top notch.Absolutely give them a shot if you get the chance, its definitely worth being in good hands for me.

I wanted a simple layered haircut for my medium to long hair to keep it healthy. I scheduled an appointment online (very easy). I felt as though the price ($53) was very reasonable. On the day of, I entered at my appointment time. There were some walk-ins whom wanted an appointment but had to wait. I recommend scheduling online so you don’t have to wait. The stylist, America was really nice. I’m deaf. I had a typed note that explained that I’m deaf and what kind of haircut I wanted. America was very professional, took my request seriously and communicated through pointing and body language. Bonus, she had a clear mask so I was able to read her lips. I felt very comfortable and I’m very happy with my haircut. I will schedule again.Note: Mask and Social distancing protocols were followed and respected. Felt safe.

I went there for a haircut. It was my first haircut after 1.5 years of pandemic and I was really excited about it. The haircut was so bad that it doesnt even look even on both sides- one side is longer than the other side. It looks very bad and I am highly disappointed after paying so much money.

I hadnt gotten a haircut in a few years and was initially very nervous but my curls were falling flat and the ends of my hair were pretty dead so I sucked it up and booked an appointment with America after reading rave reviews about her and this salon. And thank goodness I did because I walked out of her salon feeling so fabulous! She did an amazing job with my cut, my hair now looks so healthy and my curls are back to life. Its really hard finding someone who understands how to cut curly/wavy hair correctly but she did an outstanding job and I will for sure be back here again for another haircut soon. I went in not feeling great. I’m going through a rough time and it’s my birthday this week and I was just not feeling attractive or awesome like most birthdays. America turned it around and I left feeling gorgeous inside and out. She is truly talented and so kind. So excited to celebrate my birthday in style!

Very nice and punctual. Enjoyed the stylist who washed/dried and put my hair into two braids for my upcoming surgery. I’m so used to fancy salons that I was a little confused when I walked in. I was sure they were strictly a barbershop for men. But pleasantly surprised with the service.

Went to get a buzz cut (undercut design) and I also got a line design. They did an amazing job. Place is really nice and I am definitely going again.

As always, the place is clean and tidy. There’s a chill vibe I like when I go there. Blanca took care of my hair and I seriously love her. My hair is super thick and she helped me cut away the dead ends of my hair. It was over processed since I colored it at home many times.. but Blanca cut away the ends and made it as if my hair was healthy since the beginning!She showed me how much she’ll be cutting, she made sure all my tangled ends are taken care of without hurting my scalp. I’m seriously fortunate to have Blanca care for my hair. It’s been two years since I cut my hair, and I’m really glad I got it cut at Bishops

Went in for a color consultation and America was able to move some people around to take me right away. I offered to come back but she wanted to fix my hair asap. A home highlight job gone bad. IKR! America did a fantastic job and was super nice. She is SUPER talented! America would also agree with that statement! LOL Thanks America for making me pretty again!

Been here twice for a haircut. Both times, in spite of making an appointment with any stylist available, I was made to wait for about 30 mins. The first time, I wanted to get the haircut for all the positive reviews, so I didnt mind waiting. The cut was average, nothing great about it. The second time, it was becoming a pattern. I saw people walk in after me and get their place before mine, while I waited. Frustrated, I cancelled and left. Not worth it if you care about your time.

Very unfriendly and you can see in pic how unclean the cut is leaving strands of my hair uncut and uneven. Definitely not returning back and won’t recommend it.

Jay gave me the first short haircut of my adult life and I feel so feminine and me and fresh with my new pixie ! He made it a collaborative effort and was so patient as I figured out what I wanted as he worked. He even showed me how to style it in various different ways! I love how creative and intuitive the whole process was and I can’t wait to keep coming back to visit as my style continues to evolve. Thank you Jay!

I got a great color correction and plan developed for my hair here with the help of America and Blanca. It was much needed because I dyed my natural light hair with a blue black henna which wouldnt fade! This color correction is thoughtfully done and it takes into account my hair color goals, the weird green/blue henna hues and overall color dimension. Then I just got my haircut by Sandra the other day. She understood exactly what needed to be done to accommodate my length, relieve overwhelming body and fix the gnarly bangs I got from the last spot I went to (wont mention any names but it wasnt Bishops). I also had 2 beers when I got my hair colored

(Update) First time I left the salon I was very upset. My hair looked nothing like what I had asked for. I gave it a couple days and it just seemed to look worse after washing. I called back to express how upset I was and Kat was super nice and friendly. She asked to come back in and she was able to make my hair look amazing. She is very knowledgeable and just incredibly sweet. I went in a badly bleached mess and she calmly listened to my qualms and presented me with a plan to get me to where I wanted. She expertly explained every step and when she was done I was elated with the result. I am going in for my second bleaching with her and I know she will do an excellent job. I cannot recommend her enough.

I love the shop decorations. Very fashionable. Not boring. And they have the best music and videos. . And they have quality hair dresser. And very friendly staffs.

Scheduled an appointment and had Nelgar cut my hair. I showed him two pretty unreliable, poor photos and he was able to recreate what I was looking for. He spent nearly an hour just working on a fade and did a fantastic job. This was my first time here, but I am planning to make it my regular spot.

Soooo I called out to Bishops and the scheduled me with America. I explained how my last cut went & she said I got you. American had great conversation and did an amazing job on my hair. Went here earlier today for a haircut and beard trim and Jay took great care of me. The entire process felt extremely clean and safe. I went in looking like a character from “Where the Wild Things Are” and came out looking like a plus-sized male model. Will definitely use again and would recommend Jay to anyone wanting to look fresh in this area.

Finally a great find for a barbershop on the bay! Very nice staff! Was very easy to book an appointment over phone. I was late by 10 mins (parking was across the street and I managed to go when a BART arrived and got stuck in the line) but the receptionist was kind enough to accommodate me with a drink! Stylist had good knowledge and was able to bring life to my specifications! They took the property time to cut my hair and didnt rush through it even with a customer waiting on! Very clean place! Reminded me of Floyds 99 barbershop stores! Overall a good place to have a trendy haircut or beard trimming!

This salon made my hair so dry. If you have long hair never go there, you would end up regretting. Pricey but you will never satisfied. I have a long hair, i want to make below shoulder but layered infront. She did not even make it. It ended up i dont know what kind of haircut is this. I want it full color she said it will take me the whole day sitting in the bench and charge me $110 per hour. Not recommended and never go back.

I had an appointment for 11 am but showed up a bit early, the staff was ready for me and I didnt have to wait at all. I sat down and showed Nelger a photo of the style I wanted. Nelger proceeded to trim my hair, working a fade in and trimming off a few inches from the top.The haircut took a total of an hour and a half and this may seem like a long time for some but Nelgers attention to detail in my haircut was worth the time, especially since I havent had my hair styled in over a year. Overall a great haircut and Ill be coming back.

America was my stylist and was such a sweetheart 💕 Its super mellow and cool inside the salon. I loved my experience there and my haircut. I definitely recommend it ☺ Especially if you need a little pampering after the stresses of work and covid.

It would have been cool to give a review of my haircut, but they called me when I was legit literally about to park and walk into the salon for my appointment to tell me they had to cancel because the stylist had a client that was really complicated come in. Um...so I should have just walked in instead of making an appointment? Super unprofessional not only to cancel an appointment over a walk-in, but also to cancel an appointment 10 minutes before its scheduled. Some of us have manners and show up early. I declined their offer to reschedule because LOL, no thanks. I apparently will have better luck if I just show up and bump someone else whos already scheduled. Aside from that, I read reviews about this place on Yelp! and yikes! No thanks.

They asked me to come early and then I had to wait for 20 minutes outside. It would have been more if I hadnt walked out. The person who works there told me it will need, 10 minutes to sanitize but no one was sanitizing and the hair stylist was working on someone else. They dont respect your time and especially when the appointment is during the week.

I had a trimming appointment with America today & absolutely loved it! I wanted to try a new place closer to home. Online appointments were easy to schedule and the location is clean and modern. America was amazing and did exactly what I wanted. This will be my new preferred place to go!

It was my first time here but probably last time. I saw good reviews and wanted to give it a try - but very disappointed. My stylist was Bianca. She couldnt communicate with me in English and had to ask another staff to translate her Spanish. She didnt ask me any questions and went ahead cut the front part of my hair too short (during the whole process she also turned my chair to face away from the mirror, so I couldnt see it the whole time, I dont know why). It took like 15 mins only and she said it was done. I looked at the mirror and felt so frustrated. When I asked why there was a weird harsh difference between two sections of my hair, the assistant manager Kat came to help. Kat was very nice and made my hair look better, and she was telling my stylist Bianca basic things while she was repairing the cut (e.g. her hair is thick so you should do this...) I was so surprised... I felt like I was treated by an apprentice, definitely not a professional and got charged $51 for it.

It can be very difficult to find stylists who are good with long mens hair. Serena was excellent. Knew exactly what my hair needed even before I explained what I wanted. She cut and styled it exactly how I had hoped it would look. Im very happy and will definitely go back.

We had an awful experience! First of all, we had to wait over 20 minutes for my reservation. The stylist was just slow!!! He was also slow working on my boyfriends haircut. The appointment was supposed to be 4pm to 4:30pm, we actually started at 4:25pm and finished at 5:10pm. We were 30 mins late for our next appointment. And the haircut was just so-so. Wont try this place again.

Since SC county is allowing indoor services at hair salons, I got my first haircut at Bishops since the pandemic closed everything. I was in and out surprisingly quick. The cut probably took only 10-15 minutes. Just got a simple guy haircut but it was a great cut and I was more than happy.I recommend tipping very generously because salon workers have been some of the hardest hit workers during the pandemic. You kind of take them for granted until you really need one.

Bishops is especially wonderful for me because they are unisex. A la carte pricing makes so much sense for me and my 18 year olds who are both trans. It is not easy to get a boy haircut for a girl in most places. Yay Bishops!

I was at philz next door and was pleasantly surprised to see Bishops next door. Booked an appointment with Jay for 2 pm on Saturday, March 12th, 2021 again for Haircut, Hair consultation followed by Hair color/highlights. I reached there on time, I was asked to wait outside for 1 hour, it was annoying to wait outside in cold but I waited patiently (because I know due to Covid, things might get delayed, so its ok). At 3 pm, I went in after checking at front desk. Jay and me discussed about what can we do on hair, etc (I did feel that he was in a hurry and didnt put much effort in the consultation) and then, when I was all set to begin the haircut/highlights, he said that he would not be able to do the haircut/highlights now and I should come after an hour again for the haircut. So, they asked me to wait for an hour just to do this 5 minute hair consultation, like seriously? Booking my appointment for haircut and highlights and then changing it to just hair consultation without informing me and on top of that keeping me wait for an hour outside, everything is just super chaotic and unprofessional.After my first experience, I had such good things to say about Bishops and Jay,. My husband also started going to Bishops on my recommendation. Not anymore, you just lost 2 customers today.Also, they rescheduled my Saturday appointment to next Tuesday 1 pm with Jay. On Monday, they called me again that Jay would not be available and asked me to call back if i want to reschedule my appointment. Honestly, I didnt care to call back after all this chaos.

They were busy when I attempted a walk-up, but they offered a discount to come the next day - very pleasant surprising. I declined, but opted to return about 2-hours later. America cut my hair: simple, clean fade with minor length taken off the top and thinned to reduce bulk. (asymmetrical disconnected haircut).This person definitely knows how to cut hair, because it was an absolutely fantastic cut! Nice, sociable, courteous, and engaged in cutting hair, they definitely took their time to get it right.I would definitely return the next time I am in town and in need of a professional haircut! Extra kudos if you work for one of their tech companies they have a partnership as you may be eligible for a discount!

I went in for a beard trim. And I had a great experience. They worked on my beard so diligently and to the detail. I did not expect such kind of dedication for a beard trim and I was indeed surprised. Great work. Keep going guys.

My daughter was treated to a few hours of kindness and pampering by the entire staff. America has now cut and colored my 11 year old daughters hair, and both times we were in, she made us feel special. She is a talented hairstylist and just all around lovely human. We will be back for sure. My daughters smile said it all.

America and Nelger gave amazing skin fades both since I have been coming. Excellent customer service by the entire staff to top off the experience. This is my new favorite spot to get a haircut. It’s great how they are next to a Phil’s. Easy parking.

Nelger gave me a good hair cut. The staff at Bishops are so kind. The shop closes at 7:00 pm and I was able to reach there only at 6:40 pm still they accepted me and did a fantastic job! Kudos to the team.

Three cheers for Nelger. A true professional who gave me the best classic cut Ive had in three years -- including this location, other shops, and even other cities! Hes got a pile of color-coded gear everything used appropriately, and has an unmatched eye for detail.

Walked in for a great haircut which was basically a well-done buzz cut. Luis did my haircut and was very friendly and took the time to make sure my haircut advisor (girlfriend) approved of it. They just opened this location a week ago. A bit pricey but got a free tasty craft beer to enjoy while I got the haircut too!Will be back since it was one of the better cuts that Ive gotten recently.

Came in for a walk-in when they opened, they said the next available appointment was an hour from then. I came back and had one of the best haircuts of my life. The barber definitely took care of me, paying very close attention to detail. I will be coming back forsure! Just an FYI my cut took about an hour with beard trim included, dont try to come for a fast cut!

Updated:-Been there to fix the treatment but to be honest I am still not really happy with the results because fact is I have thick hair and keratin wasn’t for my hair but during consultation she suggested me this Don’t trust their consultation they just wanna make money and I don’t have time to go again again what a waste of time and money I wouldn’t recommend them to anyone—————Very very disappointed with this SalonI did research and after reading reviews I drove all the way from union city to Sunnyvale in the hope to get the 5 star services but I have to deal with following issues:- America was my stylist she did the consultation and suggest me to go for keratin treatment as my major concern was I don’t want styling tools to use after wash and As per her advice got color cut and keratin treatment in the hope to get the best results (She was very confident and She is the manager)- She has long nails and she was quite often poking her nails on my neck while doing keratin treatment and color which I find it very unprofessional how can you hurt ur client- loads of hair pulling was involved I reached to the point where I end up screaming that u r hurting me 😡😡😡😡- As per the COVID rule they can’t offer water drinks or beverages but if the customer is there for 4hrs must need some water and when she brought water for me that cup was filled with dirty hairy water extremely annoyed- After all that she was talking to her colleague that I have loads of hair that statement I didn’t like coz I don’t have like really curly hair I have wavy hair but your job is to work on hair and everyone has different hair growth and I love my hair I don’t want hairstylist should complain about it very upset- Their other branches charge less then Sunnyvale branch but I read the reviews (god know if those were genuine or not )as I wanted the best hair services and that’s why I was ready to pay extra but my major concern was to get the fizz free smooth hair even after a wash without using any heating tools and after 4 days I took hair bath( as per instructions by the stylist) and I am very very disappointed upset and angry that I can see same frizzy hair after paying $450 what a ripoff damn angry I would never recommend this place to anyone do not waste your money and Time.....

Update: Having visited a 5+ times now, Bishops is consistently good with good haircuts and friendly staff. Most recently, Frankie gave me a great haircut and friendly to chat with.Luis provided a great haircut experience, first by getting an idea of what I was looking for and then by constantly checking in. Bishops allows plenty of time for each appointment so you dont feel rushed out. They have a very cool, trendy decor and allow you to easily reserve a time on Google.

Julia did a good job with haircut and beard trim. Attentive to details. Took time on the fade and didn’t rush it. That was great. Fades should not be rushed.I’d suggest fellow clients to show the hairstylists pictures of what you want the end result to look like. I think that’s the best form of communicating. I went to Bishops for the first time today, and Frankie cut my hair. Mid range prices, but top quality service - I was extremely satisfied with the cut I got. If you want an excellent fade, Id recommend Frankie.

Walk-in: Saturday @ 9am.The receptionist was kind and friendly. I was told they didn’t have anything until 10am. Left my number in their system in case something else opened up. This gave me a chance to check out the Farmers Market and Food Tents along Murphy Avenue.Came back around 9:30am and was told I had the option of receiving a free haircut with an interviewee. She was incredibly quick, but surprisingly good. She accomplished what I wanted and I walked out a satisfied customer!Definitely want to give this place another try and see how the other hair stylists are like.

I was a drop-in, and overall it was a very pleasant experience. America was my cutter and was also scheduling people, and handling other managerial questions with skill and grace. She listened well, kept me informed about what she was doing, and was both personable and professional. The haircut was what I wanted, and the chance to try a cider Id never had was a fun bonus!

Great haircut! Friendly staff. It’s better to call than book online because you’ll get a more personal experience and better scheduling. America is great and so is Natalia. I have a pixie that I’m trying to transition to a bit longer and they’ve been great at leaving it a bit longer on top with some texturing to keep it from being too fluffy (curly hair probs) and when I got color on my previous visit it was amazing and has lasted and blended really well.

Shelby does an awesome comb over fade! I have Asian hair that sticks straight out, so its hard finding a stylist that knows how to work with that kind of hair, but Shelby did a wonderful job and you can tell they put a lot of attention to detail in the cut.

Really friendly place. Just walked in on their first day without an appointment. Luis did my haircut and he was really amazing in helping me figure out what looks best for me. Will probably go again. Slightly pricey, though.
