Upon move in our unit was extremely dirty and we had to rent a carpet cleaner to make the floors look, feel and smell remotely clean. Upon move out the unit was spotless and better than we found it. However management has sent us photos of a unit which is CLEARLY not our apartment and refuses to lift the cleaning charges. We have even provided them dated photos proving that they are sending pics of the wrong unit but they refuse to listen. They are even claiming that 4 people moved out of our 3 person unit, even more solidifying that they are sending photos of the wrong unit. They also refuse to pick up the phone and return our calls. Very unhappy with our move in and move out experience.

Don’t live here they screw you over and charge you for things you had no control over (like sending your keys in by mail in advance of move-out day and the USPS not delivering on time and then charging you for it, a messed up couch which would constantly peel every-time you sat on it and you’re charged for “not detailing it when we moved in”. We even had mold in our bathrooms which they did nothing for, they just painted over it. Just would not recommend wasting your money here.

This place is horrible. I had signed a lease a year before move in date in order to secure my room at a lower cost, and still ended up paying close to $100/per month more than my roommates. When everything happened with COVID (including two deaths in my family that we had to pay for funerals for), they were less than sympathetic, not allowing me out of my lease. Ive been paying close to $700/month for a place that Ive never stepped foot in.Make sure youre reading all of the reviews before making a decision as well, as they like to send out texts saying that the first ten people to leave a review for them will get free food from the office.

The apartment you see on the tour is NOT the apartment you get after youve signed the lease! My daughters apartment had broken cabinets, disgusting build up on bathroom and kitchen floors (corners were black and the molding was caked with something we couldnt identify). Carpet in bedrooms was stained and matted. Also, the utility set up is a complete scam! They charge a service fee every month to collect the utility bill (in addition to the service fee to collect the rent) but you dont have the option to pay the utility company directly. Final bills are over estimated with no chance of a refund.

Terrible place. 1 star is a generous review. All the airducts in the apartment had dust all through them. Dryer didnt work even after they came out to fix it twice. Hot water was rediculously hot, would burn your skin on contact. Had a visitor come up and park right in front of the visitor parking sign. Came outside to see the truck being loaded on a tow truck. I asked the tow truck driver what he was doing and he said it wasnt visitor parking. I asked him where visitor parking was and he called someone who worked for The Bryn (on speakerphone). Their exact words were its right there where youre at. Still had to pay $120 to have the truck dropped. They marked the truck with yellow paint on the tailight and bed. Had to take it to a body shop to have it removed. Everyone i talked to has had similar experiences. I am convinced every good review here is fake.

To college students looking for off-campus housing: go elsewhere. When I toured the Bryn, I was pleased with what they claimed to offer. However, the sample unit is wildly different from the actual units both in quality and upkeep by staff. The apartment I moved into could not have been filthier (even after management falsely advertised cleaned units). These apartments are gross. In my time living at the Bryn, their management has changed three times. That turnover should speak for itself. With each new management, questions or concerns would continually be met with defensive, unhelpful responses. Personable, helpful maintenance personnel is the only redeeming quality of the apartment complex. The office/management staff is consistently rude and deceitful; they most recently send mass texts to residents incentivizing them to leave positive reviews on Google in exchange for free pizzas. False advertising seems to be a theme at the Bryn.

Internet will go out with every thunderstorm. I remember one summer where every week the internet would shut-off for hours at a time, sometime another one would happen hours later. The apartment itself is filthy and will require manual cleaning by the tenants when move-in begins. Living in this apartment complex has taken a strain on my body, one summer while living here I started to develop a massive number of hives every time I would try to sleep. Eventually, one of my roommates discovered there was mold in the bathroom that may have been causing it and we had to scrub the bathtub to remove it.However, if it was just the filth and unsanitary conditions, even considering I may have developed hives by living here, I would have given this apartment complex a 3/5, but the the internet shutting off spontaneously with basically the strike of lightning, during a time where most of my job interviews and classes were held online, is a utter disgrace. This problem was never fixed during the entire period of my stay. Maybe the owner, who will no doubt respond to this review below should consider fixing that problem especially during a time where the digital world has become more and more important for sustaining a living.

This is my first year living at the Bryn and overall its been pretty smooth. Move in was very easy and safe (covid). When I moved in, only one of my roommates was there and it appears that the cleaning crew did not pay deep clean the common areas because of that (there was a lot of dust in the living room and bathrooms). However, the rooms were clean and mine seemed to be freshly painted. Upon moving in, I went over the list they gave me and requested some repairs.Ive known people who lived here in previous years, and even though past management was inconsistent, the new management has been extremely communicative. The best thing about the Bryn is probably the maintenance team. Every time my roommates or I file a request it is filled within 12-24 hours.Overall for the price (includes all utilities except heat, includes parking and bus pass, and amenities), its a pretty good deal and has a great location.

I think these are great student apartments for a very reasonable price. Although it’s not right next to campus, it’s a very short drive and there are many stores/restaurants nearby. Maintenance has gotten back to us in a timely manner when something needs to be repaired. In the few months since I moved in, I’m very glad that I chose the Bryn. Things were dusty when I arrived, but nothing that was crazy unexpected. The staff has been very nice and the community events are great especially with remote learning.

This place is disappointing. I live in an “upgraded” apartment and this place feels like it’s falling apart. We currently have three huge holes in the ceiling due to water damage (from a leaking pipe) that were never fixed. Our bathrooms constantly grow mold, although we make a huge effort to air the bathrooms out after showers. Windows are drafty and it’s always freezing. Additionally, when we arrived in August, NO cleaning was done. There was trash everywhere. Staff is also extremely rude.A maintenance man even told me to look into living somewhere else next year for a price not much higher than I pay now. I would avoid signing a lease here if possible. Don’t be fooled by the model, your apartment will look NOTHING like it.

It’s a nice place to live for the price it is at. Upon moving in my apartment needed several things fixed and maintenance was very helpful. The private rooms are nice, but my biggest complaint would probably have to be the size of the kitchen. Other than that it’s a nice place to live. The proximity to campus and other restaurants and stores in the area is extremely convenient as well. It’s definitely not glamorous but with a little work it can be nice.

Ive lived at the Bryn for a few months now. In that time Ive gotten to know a lot about the things they offer. One of my favorite things is the gym. Its small, but efficient and the community is very easy going. The people at the front desk are typically accommodating as well as friendly which is awesome! One thing that I would like to point out though is that a lot of the appliances are on their absolute last leg which makes it very difficult. If you considering the Bryn, dont. When my roommate and I moved in, the apartment was NOTHING like the model apartment we were shown. We live in one of the newest apartments and its was not up to par. The model had brand new cherry wood cabinets and granite counter tops with brand new appliances and wood floors. We were told we would get something VERY similar to the model since they were the newest apartments. These are pictures of our apartment. It has very outdated appliances, laminate counter tops that are coming up, and a sink that still hasnt been fixed by maintenance that was made aware of the situation the day we moved into the apartment (6 months ago). In addition to the sink, the only large burner on our stove top does not work, the light in our kitchen is dying, and my roommates toilet constantly runs. We have contacted maintenance about all of the above and are still waiting. Also, when we moved in the apartment was FILTHY. It had not been cleaned since the previous residents. The only thing that was semi-clean was the stove only because it had stove cleaner all in it and had literally 1 wipe mark on the door. It had not been touched since. At first glance it is all okay, but it is short lived. There is paint on EVERYTHING. It is on my roommate and Is mattresses, desk chairs, the desks themselves, the windows, the mirrors in our bathroom, the carpet in our bedrooms, the furniture in the living room, etc. The paint also has hair stuck in it and giant drip spots can be found all over the apartment. I have also found mold growing in both my roommate and Is bedrooms (pictures attached) because the windows are so poorly caulked (if they are at all). For over $800 in rent, it is not worth it. Also, since living here, the utilities have almost doubled. The apartments are cheaply made. My roommate and I can hear people having a normal conversation outside (we are on the 3rd floor) and our neighbors budding up to us and from across the hall all hours of the night. The walls are paper thin so it is hard to get any sleep. And the list goes on.... All in all, we are very disappointed with the quality of living here and would not recommend to anyone. Both my roommate and I are moving out this semester as we refuse to continue to live here.

Overall, the complex isnt horrible. You get a decent place for the price you pay. The location is perfect. Its near a lot of stores, restaurants, and bus stops, which is convenient. My only negative is the condition in which the apartment was left when we first moved in. There was trash and belongings from former residents. The vents were dirty as well as the ceilings. The solution to every problem is to paint over it. My ethernet outlet was painted over and I needed to call the electric company to come fix it.

I have enjoyed living at the Bryn this year. We have had to file multiple maintenance requests but they have always repaired everything really quickly. One thing I dont like is that maintenance only knocks once and then let themselves in. It would be more appreciated if they gave us more time to let them in before they abruptly come in. They have emailed us before saying that maintenance will come sometime during the week, but it would be more appreciated if they gave us at least a 24 hour notice instead of a weeks notice so we could all be more prepared. Living with all girls it can be intimidating when a man abruptly comes into your apartment. Other than that, living here has been great. My roommates and I all love the 24hr gym and free printing room. The Bryn also provides its residents with lots of fun events and free giveaways.

When I moved in, the carpet was dirty, fingerprints were all over the windows, the entire apartment reeked of cigarette smoke, and there was lots of hairs all over my bathroom. It seems like they did not clean the apartment at all before we moved in. Although the apartment was atrocious for some reason the walls were still painted. Painted so sloppily that my desk and chair had white paint splatters all over them. My chair also came with tons of gross stains on it. Management does not care. My apartment has been dealing with a dryer that does not work since we moved it. It shuts off after 5 minutes. Although maintenance has been here twice for it it was never fixed.

Scratch my previous review! I have never met more rude staff when all I asked for was a key to my mailbox (Which I was never given!) I rarely get mail so when I realized that I needed to fetch something from my mailbox, it clicked that they never gave me a mailbox key. My roomates and I were under the impression that only one of us got one because they didnt give us any besides one of us! When I politely asked if I could have one, the girl basically told me there was nothing we could do because we only had a 48-hour window to let them know if we were missing a key from our move-in date. I have never lived here before so tell me how I was supposed to know this??? She said that she could order one for me but would have to charge me... excuse me? Charge me for something that is entitled to me when I move-in and pay rent for? She just shrugged her shoulders as I was clearly interrupting her social time with another desk girl. I dont understand why this apartment complex makes it so hard to get simple things done like retrieving my mail. So happy I will be moving out when this lease is up.

This place is such a scam. Before I moved in, the management claims that the rooms were all going to be cleaned. However, that wasnt the case. The day i arrived, I found used mask and a used CONDOM in my room in addition to all the dust in my room. They definitely clean the place. The horror doesnt end there. Our apartment had many issues that require maintenance such as washer leaks, broken window screen and missing lights. When we file maintenance request, the management just decided to mark the request as completed even though no one came to fix the issue. That just makes their Professional, on-site management and maintenance feel ironic.

Talk about a scam. Decided to look here due to it being cheaper than my previous spot downtown. They show you a beautiful model and say “oh since you have the upgrade this is the exact apartment you’ll be living in!” Yeah that’s funny! The cleaning crew they sent in told us that they have yet to see anything that looks like the model. Also sent out an email with all of their “what we will be doing before move in” due to Covid and NONE of that was done. When the previously mentioned cleaning crew came in they told us our apartment was never cleaned and they have no clue how we were allowed to move in with the shape it was left in. Of course cleaning crew was sent to us after we spent over $300 on cleaning supplies, but that isn’t their fault. Some of the staff can be really sweet and helpful, especially the student workers who you can tell are getting a lot of calls. However anytime I call to the office and I have the unfortunate pleasure of speaking to Cheyenne, I can plan to get short snappy answers or to just get plain screamed at. Apparently the customer service training was only taught to a select few.If I could give you any advice, it would be RUN.

Balcony door was broken for over a year before it got fixed (after submitting multiple work orders) and showers get cold after 1 minute. Water leak from the walls, smoke detector and light switches from apartment above. If that sounds like it’s worth $650 a month then by all means, come here.

The bryn is a great off campus housing facility, with plenty of resources at just walking distance. I’ve been living here for 2+ years and I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my stay. One thing I would like to criticize is the cost: they add cost to everything and it all adds up to be very expensive at times for a college kid. Other housing complexes have cheaper options sometimes.

Poor services and staff members are unenthusiastic and lots of small broken things. You can find a batter place for this price

Their prize is extremely high and will keep going up. They will tell you the electric will be included. But you will find extra 50 some dollars every months depends on how much electric you used. And they dont lower the rent as the coronavirus start since everything is shut off (gym, printing room etc.) Honestly dont live here if you have a better option.

The Bryn is a great place to live with cheap, affordable rates. The apartments are very spacious for the price and the complex has amenities like a gym, pool, and computer lab area. There is plenty of free visitor parking, which is hard to find in the state college area. It is a bit far from campus which can be annoying depending on your schedule, but I have never had an issue with it personally. You get a free bus pass and the bus rides are pretty short (unless Atherton has construction :(...) . The people who work in the office are super friendly and helpful, and I love that I feel comfortable to be able to go to them for help!

Managers and staff are absolutely great! Super friendly people that are willing to try to seek a solution to your problem. The lack of maintenance employees is the biggest down fall. Things that break won’t get fixed for weeks. Biggest problem with my apartment is the black mold on the ceiling of the bathroom and the toilet is not properly installed so it wobbles and smells like sewage. There are many things that are still slightly broken and need to be fixed. When residents move out there needs to be better cleaning and re-painting of the apartment. There are currently pubes painted into the windowsill and hair painted into doors of my apartment from the previous residents. It’s a bit far from campus and can take up to 20 minutes to get there depending on traffic. There are plenty of stores for food, clothing, cleaning supplies ect. Which is very convenient.

My family and I visited the Bryn in the Spring of 2019 and were shown a beautiful clean, mold free apartment. Everything they showed us looked beautiful including the clubhouse, the weight room, and the pool area. Sadly after moving in my college student this Monday we were given an apartment with 40 year old barely working appliances, dirty and moldy floor areas, baseboards, all counter tops in the entire place coming apart, paint splatter all over carpets, mattresses, and furniture, and black as night window and window coverings. They tried telling me the place had been cleaned in between tenants which I know is a complete lie because there was food dripping down the side of the fridge, the microwave was small and covered with food, and there were crumbs and visible large pieces of dirt under the furniture. To say I am extremely disappointed is an understatement, my sons girlfriend had the same experience here but in a different building, and by the looks of these reviews most of the apartments are in this sad condition. We wont be renewing the lease anytime soon, youd think the management would be more receptive since reviews like this seem common but guess the bottom line is that they only care about money and not about the health of its tenants. On a positive note I have been able to place multiple work orders, we shall see if they are ever addressed. The staff in the clubhouse couldnt be nicer, shame they have to deal with all the complaints.

Although the apartment itself is decent, the maintenance and front office is horribly disorganized. I’ve been living here for almost two years and our back screen door has been broken ever since we moved in. My roommates have put in multiple requests to have it fixed and maintenance has done nothing about it. The front office has blatantly lied about the efforts they have put in to get the door fixed

If anyone is thinking of living at the Bryn I advice to stop. Due to the global pandemic with COVID-19, I am literally stuck and cannot travel without potentially contracting the virus myself and spreading it (due to living in high risk zone). I have talked to the Bryn and asked if it is possible to break the lease or work something out and thy simply said NO. I also emailed them about subletting more than a week ago and till today they have not replied me. And today upon reading the lease agreement once again I have found numerous concerning areas about the recurring payments of the monthly rent. Both numbers are significantly different from what they originally offered compared now. For any college students who wants to live at the Bryn I advice NOT TO, but if you are still willing to take the risk please have a trusted individual read the lease multiple times as it is worded extremely complicated and have a lot of tricks. Also for any questions on the apartment, never email (they will just make the excuse that they have over 600 emails to read and will eventually get to you), always call and ask for confirmation over and over again as they will change whatever they please and say its within their contract.

No help at all. they tell you lies at the front desk and cannot help you with any issue you are having. I was told about the pool being open in 2weeks, 2weeks later i was told it was going to open at the end of next week, then i was told it wasnt open at all. Then i signed a PPA when i did not intend too (error on my end) and when i called saying that i am upset with this outcome, they said they couldnt do anything and that when i renew my lease i can sign for a guarantor. THEN when i called for the last time, they told me I COULDNT HAVE A GUARNTOR FOR MY RENEWAL. I am upset with the management style of this place as i have seen the false information that they are so willingly to give. I will say they do have decent sizes for their prices and the area is nice and quiet.

Edit - The problems have not been fixed regarding the internet, if you have a job or require internet for schooling then do yourself a favor and find a more reliable place to live. Dont live here if you want stable internet. The whole apartment complex has shaky internet and the main office has been told repeatedly to fix the problem, yet nothing has been done. Also dont live here if you want to live in a clean and sanitary environment. Several units are left unclean and in completely unsanitary conditions. The level of incompetence is high. You have been warned.

I’m going through a tough time right now, and I can always count on Carl in the leasing office to be there to listen to me. I’m ecstatic I chose such a caring place to live this year, and i’m really glad so renewed my lease for next year. I feel like family with all my neighbors as well ❤️

Due to the COVID issue and having all classes online, students are having difficulties traveling back to the school for this fall. However, there isnt a termination clauses so basically youre trapped to this lease and they dont even care about their tenants and this crazy pandemic situation. Even if you negotiate with the manager by changing the full year lease to a half year lease (the monthly rent for a half year lease is way more expensive than a full year lease). Theyll just claim that their short-term leases are all sold out. If you found someone who finally wanted a half year sublet, you will need to pay double sublet fee, one is when you transfer the lease to the other person and youll need to pay the other when the other person transfer the lease back to you at the end of the fall semester. I really hope that they can at least eliminate one of the double sublet fees or help us change the duration of the lease. But looks like they dont know how to sympathize their student tenants in this situation.

The apartment was as disgusting as can be when I moved in. I had to submit a ton of maintenance requests. The fridge was leaking and is still leaking. It was also filled with expired food and smelled gross. There was food in there that was three years passed the expiration date. The balcony door blinds were broken. The screen door doesn’t close. The ceiling fan shook even after maintenance “fixed it” a couple of times. The ceiling was dripping on my bed during my first rainy night at the apartment. I put in a maintenance request for a stove top burner and it still doesn’t work. The microwave was very old and rusty which I told the front office is a safety hazard and they refused to replace it. The toilet seat was broken. The dishwasher was broken. These were the things that occurred when I moved in. I also found myself submitting plenty of maintenance requests during my stay here. Sometimes the catabus will get full during class rush hours and they’ll have to leave some students behind at the bus stop. That’s probably not something that the front office can help with but it is a downside to the location. Some pros are that the place is walking distance to several places such as Walmart, McDonald’s, college buffet, target, champs, and other stores. You get a queen sized bed and lots of closet space with mirror doors. The apartment is also furnished. I paid $485 per month for rent which I think was somewhat fair given the cons I mentioned above.Overall, this place is ight.

This property have no idea of the whole COVID-19 situation around the world. Travel bans are all around the world now and students are not able to come back to US to continue there study. They dont consider anything of those students but only want them to pay the rent. This property only cares of how much money they could earn but not your life or health situation. The management of this property is also terrible. They do not replay to any email and the way they replay to your conconers is really rude, cause they only cares about their profit.

Carl Bostick is very professional and dependable. He loves his job and cares for the students and their parents. No matter what the task is or questions he is asked, Carl always has a solution to the problem. As a parent of a student, I feel comfortable with my child living in off campus housing knowing that Carl is responsible and very reliable.
