I paid 2 cat deposits plus paying monthly for them to be able to live there. When we moved out they charged us an extra 600 on top of our security deposit. Id like to know why the deposits werent put towards the total. If you like living somewhere where they want no evidence of you existing this is the place for you. (This includes children)

While the place is outdated, ( I believe they are working to make updates, though) I rated it 5/5 because of the staff. Lisa and Kimberly in management/leasing are fantastic- as well as all of the helpful maintenance staff. I had issues which were *mostly* building related, and they always made sure it was handled in a timely manner, and never made me feel like I was being a bother. It is difficult to find a property with such great management. Would definitely move back!

Park Forest Apartments is a quiet, clean, friendly space, and I attribute my positive review to the management staff, Kimberly and Lisa. I recently moved in, and my experience has been so smooth and enjoyable. From the moment I reached out to Kimberly and Lisa to inquire about an apartment to the moment I moved in, Ive always felt like I was being helped and supported along the way. Anytime I had a question, they were quick to respond. They also had a great system for move-in to maintain safety and health, since were in a pandemic. Im sure that my experience will continue to be positive, and I cannot emphasize how happy I am to live in a clean apartment!

Do NOT rent from this apartment complex. My roommate and I were very mistreated. For starters, when moving out of here we cleaned our apartment and made it spotless, and they held our entire security deposit and charged us for cleanliness of the apartment. They then proceeded to say we were not allowed to dispute this issue in person or on the phone, only through via mail. We paid for professional carpet cleaners to clean the carpets, and they charged us for new carpets because it was not up to their standards, and would not discuss the issue with us. Extremely dishonest business who just want to scam you out of your money. The maintenance team was awful. We would call for things to be fixed multiple times, and never have anyone come, and if they did they would partially fix it for it to just break again. They were extremely lazy and did not care about the conditions of the apartment. The maintenance men also would come into our apartment unannounced and without us knowing. As two women living alone in an apartment that was extremely unsafe and uncomfortable. This apartment complex also claims they are pet friendly but then proceeds to use so much salt on their sidewalks that it would burn my dogs paws. When I would walk him in the winter he would start limping due to the salt hurting his feet. The conditions of the apartment are also not good. Everything breaks in this place. They kept increasing the rent but would never fix or update anything there. We had a leak one time in our ceiling from the apartment above streaming into our kitchen light. The light would fill up with water. The maintenance men finally came to look at it and he told us to just watch it and didnt fix anything. This complex is not worth your time, or money, and is run by incredibly dishonest people.

Park Forest Apartments is only open to take your money. Ive had a rocky time living here the past 2 years. When my lease was finally up, it was brought to my attention that I was not going to get any of my security deposit back. While I understand most places do not give it back in full, they withheld everything. They claimed the carpets were not cleaned to their standards, after I spent money on a professional cleaner to clean them. They charged me an extra $700 on top of no security deposit for them to replace the carpets. This was absurd due to the fact the only part of my carpet that was messed up was a fray near the entrance. I will be taking further legal action with this situation. I advise everyone to stay clear of this place.

I have only the most positive things to say about my experience at Park Forest Apartments! When I moved in a few months ago, my 1 bedroom apartment was very clean and the fridge and oven were brand new. Since moving in, I have greatly enjoyed living in this quiet and peaceful neighborhood. The apartments are centrally located in the State College area and are nearby lots of handy stores & restaurants...not to mention that you are only a 5 minute walk away from the beautiful Tudek Park which is a perfect place for a stroll. The office staff offers some of the friendliest service I have ever encountered and they are available to answer any questions you may have. The maintenance team is also highly capable and responds quickly to any needs. Would definitely recommend this apartment complex to anyone looking for an affordable and cozy apartment in State College!

Very lucky to have Park Forest as my first stop in the US. I had a nice life here. The environment, the neighbors, the facilities are good for family life. Kids can play safely. The staff are always friendly, warm-hearted and efficient. After I moved out and cleaned the apartment thoroughly, all the security deposit was returned. Awesome! Highly recommended to new comers.

People run through stop signs and my upstairs neighbor is the loudest person. My daughter is afraid to sleep in her own room bc the neighbor is up all hours of the night.

The apartments are very old, and the floors are very weak. The apartment was acceptable 6 years ago because of the low monthly rate. Now, the monthly rate is so high but the quality of the building is still poor.

I thought I would write a review while we are still living here. We moved in to PFA in Aug. 2016 and it has been such a positive experience. I have grown very fond of our little one-bedroom apartment over the years. The price is what first drew me to rent here while going to grad school at Penn State, along with most utilities included. We only paid electricity. The most positive aspect of living has been the management. Lisa and Peggy have always been responsive to our needs or concerns and are always patient and understanding. Maintenance takes care of any issues quickly and efficiently. The location is terrific! Two stops on the Cata NE line, across the street from Tudek Park, and close to many stores. I would highly recommend living here. We will be moving back to California and will carry good memories of living at Park Forest Apartments.

Pros: Almost 2 years living here in the 2BR. Rent is very affordable even with the electric bill even though the buildings and appliances are pretty old. Maintenance is very responsive and management is super friendly and more than willing to help you through issues. Pet Friendly is a plus and right by the park / dog park too.Cons: It was nice that the heat was included in rent. However, living on the second floor was awfully hot all of the time. Even in winter, thermostat could be set to 50 and it would still be sweating hot. The AC unit that comes installed in the wall helps cool it down a little, but still relatively hot in the living room most of the time. Would be nice if people were also more considerate and cleaned up after their dogs too.Update: The only unfortunate thing is the cleaning fee that was tacked on when we moved out. We thoroughly cleaned the apartment throughout the day and night prior to our move-out and were still charged $200 to our security deposit.

Ive lived at Park Forest Apartments for 2 years. From going through the process of signing my lease, to now, the management staff have been amazing friendly and responsive. I feel known personally despite living in a large complex, which has been very appreciated! My one-bedroom apartment is spacious, clean and well-equipped. Any time I have had any maintenance issues, they have been resolved quickly - sometimes even within the same day. In my opinion the location, near Tudek Park, is perfect - its right on a bus line, and there is a lovely cycle path to campus and downtown. The monthly rent is very affordable for living in such nice surrounds, and in such a great community. I would stay for many more years if I were not having to leave town for work. I would highly recommend living at Park Forest Apartments!

I have lived here for four years and I love this place. Recently, I appreciate what they did for my wife and me. I am a PhD student here. My original plan was to graduate this spring, then my wife and I didnt renew our apartment from July since we thought we are going to move to another city. But for some reason, I cannot graduate in the spring. Meanwhile, my wife is pregnant. So we cannot move out of State College so soon. Then if we look for another place in State College, it will become such a pain. Then we go to the office and talk to them about our thought and our situations. Unfortunately, by the time, they have rent our apartment to some people already. Then office staff here did a lot of thing after that and made some arrangement. Luckily, we are able to renew the current apartment, which make our lives so easy. Personally, I think Park Forest is a a great option for college students, if you are looking for a quiet and comfortable residence, responsible and friendly office staff.

I have lived in Park Forest Apartments for 2 years now, and I really like it. People complain that rent is too high, but I think its moderate compared to other 1 bedroom apartments around State College. Maintenance is very responsive and is not creepy. The staff in the office is also responsive and friendly. The only concern I have is that these buildings are older and I did have a problem with carpenter ants in the summertime. There must be some holes in the foundation of the building. The office was quick to act and got them removed immediately. The other annoying thing is the fire alarms go off from using the oven. Overall, I really enjoy the apartment. I think its incredibly cozy, and I like the gas stove. I also like that we are allowed pets in this complex. Compared to Toftrees, its a good price.

A very nice little apartment complex. Very reasonably priced 1BR for the area, plus almost everything (cable, internet, gas) is included in the rent and it has its own busstop so its very easy. I lived at Park Forest Apartments for three years and honestly, living here was great and I had no complaints. The complex is located within walking distance to several grocery stores, Walmart, great restaurant options (like Champs, Waffle shop, the Greek, etc.), shopping, a fitness center, and Tudeck Park. In addition, several bus lines run in front of the apartment complex, making it easy to get to places in town if you dont own a car. As for the apartments themselves: I lived in a one bedroom apartment and it didnt feel cramped at all - my bedroom and living room were spacious! Management and maintenance were awesome to deal with as well. Lisa and her management team were always friendly and accommodating and the maintenance guys were timely and efficient when they had to do work in my apartment and they always got the job done on the first try (Ive never had to request maintenance multiple times for any one maintenance issue). Overall, Park Forest Apartments was a great place to live! Its quiet and perfect for grad students.

Park forest office told me that they wouldnt take my security deposit out of my account untll I got approved for the apartment. They tried to take the check out twice, including once after I got denied for the apartment. They took out a total of 3 fees out of my account that I didnt authorizeWhen I contacted them, they told me there was nothing they could do. If they are this dishonest before I even sign anything, I can only imagine the hell it Is after you are under a lease. Will NEVER even consider renting from them again.

The rent is cheap, but for good reason. The apartments are some of the most run down in State College. On move in day the apartments were clearly not cleaned well beforehand. Once we moved out, we made sure to clean the apartment to better standards then when we had moved in. For our efforts the rental office slapped us with a $200 cleaning fee. The kicker is that we were only allowed to argue this fee via written letter. Throughout our rental period we also delt with faulty appliances. I would not recommend renting here.

I lived at Park Forest for three years. The management team along with the maintenance crew are truly wonderful and caring people. Anytime I had a problem with my apartment, Lisa was quick with letting the maintenance crew know that something needed fix. They were always nice when I spoke with them with any issue that I had.One of the many reasons why I loved living at PF was the pet friendly atmosphere. The landscape was always up to date. There were even dog bags on posts throughout the complex for owners to pickup after their dogs made a mess :o) Other tenants were pleasant when I would walk my dog.The apartments have new carpets installed along with air conditioners and other appliance. I liked that the apartments had light coating of paint and the carpets were light in color too. It didnt make the apartment look dark. You cant find another place in State College that has FREE cable and WiFi! Plus my electric bill was cheap too! And that Park Forest Apartments were in walking distance to Wal-Mart, Trader Joes, Wegmans, and many restaurants. If you ride the Cata Bus the stop is right in front of the Apartments. You cant beat that!I am really going to miss Lisa, who is the property manager, along with Sean, who is the supervisor of maintenance. They along with everyone else made my three years at Park Forest wonderful.
