Wow. I scheduled Mike to come tune my piano, not because I felt it was out of tune, but only because I know I should have this done every year or so, and its been around 4 years since our last tuning. This piano is only about 30 years old and is in great shape, so I felt it was clearly more of a routine maintenance call than a real need for tuning. He came this morning and in addition to tuning, he recommended that we adjust the reaction of the keys, as he pointed out to me that they were not as responsive as they should be, which I agreed to.Well, I will tell you, I never expected to have a completely new experience playing my piano! The tones are clear and bright, and the keys are responsive to even the gentlest touch! It is an absolute joy to play this piano, and I feel like Im rediscovering my love for the art. I am definitely saving Mikes number for my future tunings and would recommend him without hesitation to my neighbors. Thank you!!

Mike refinished a piano for me that was my grandmothers. It had been in a flooded house and so had some issues. When Mike brought the piano back we could not believe it was the same piano. So happy with the quality of work and his attention to detail. Would highly recommend his services.

We have a really unique piano and Mike had to almost completely redo the inside. He did a fantastic job!! Michael @ Piano Utah was professional, knowledgeable, and friendly. My experience with him from beginning to end was positive. Most of all, he really took my old Baldwin Classic upright from rags to riches. This piano was given to me and had been beaten up pretty badly by a house full of kids, and probably had never been tuned or maintained. Michael opened it up, cleaned out the Monopoly money and the odd toys, diagnosed it quickly and accurately, and got to work on a stretch tuning and a desparately needed action adjustment. He was finished after a couple hours of work during which I greatly enjoyed his company and conversation. Once he had closed her back up and I sat down to play my Baldwin, I was blown away with how great she sounded. The piano was not only in tune, but the keys were more responsive and had quicker release, the sustain was clear and bell-like, and the harmonics made it sound like a much bigger and much newer piano! I was very impressed with Michael himself and the work he did. The results of his work on my piano far exceeded my original expectations, and his price was very fair.Im going to have Michael back to my home in a few months to fine tune it again and shave the hammers down. And I would definitely recommend you invite him over to work on your piano if you value your music and love the sound of a beautifully tuned instrument as much as I do.

I had my piano tuned by another COMPANY. In the process, he broke a pin. He didnt know how to fix it - he would do some checking and get back to me. Several months and phone calls later, I was told they couldnt do anything for me as they were no longer making parts for my piano. Its a pin - not a specialized part. I called Michael of PIANO UTAH. He came the same day and repaired the broken pin in @10 minutes time. I am SO HAPPY to have my piano repaired.. I highly refer this very professional and CARING young man!

I can’t recommend Mike enough for the fine job he did tuning our piano which needed a lot of work as it had never been tuned. The price was very fair as he had to do a double tuning. He was prompt getting back to me with questions I had as well as being on time for the scheduled appointment. He has a BA in music and knows his stuff. Mike was very personable and engaging with the family— what a great personality he has! He made sure we knew we could be noisy and could go about our usual business at home as he tuned the piano. We are thrilled to play the piano again and have sound as it should. Don’t hesitate to go with Mike Smith. I will definitely be using his services again.

After more than a decade and a few moves, our piano was in dire need of a tune up. Piano Utah came highly recommended by a neighbor of ours so we called them up. Michael promptly came over and performed the necessary maintenance on our piano. Then returned for a second visit later on to make sure everything was tight and sounding great. He was very friendly and professional about everything. Our piano has never sounded better! We highly recommend him and his business.

Michael of Piano Utah has been absolutely amazing! He took a genuine interest in our 1932 Marshall & Wendell baby grand piano, explaining every component and all options for restoration and sound improvement.
