Theyve been upping their prices and now its $40 for a cut. Thats fine but my fade was barely blended, spots were missed, and my sideburns were messed up. Happy to pay extra but not when the quality isnt there

I got a haircut there early summer just before things got scary again with Covid. I went back and despite the mask mandate in indoor businesses in Somerville, not one person was masked. I left without a haircut

PSA: Do NOT go here if you have AFRICAN AMERICAN or BLACK HAIR. I showed Brendan several photos of exactly what I wanted. He even took measurements! Yet, he STILL miscalculated and chopped off most of my hair on top of my head. He admitted to his inexperience with black hair after the fact. He also didnt apply any rubbing alcohol on my edges after he was done, even after I told him I am very prone to razor burns/bumps. The 2 stars are for nice and clean atmosphere. I will not be returning!

Called to get an appointment and he goes on to tell me hes fully booked and hangs up. Horrible customer service. So they are expensive and worthless.

Friendly staff that took me fairly quickly as a walk-in. The price and service was great for my basic cleanup, which included trimming up around my sides. The price menu for other services did seem a little pricey though. Good conversation with the owner.

I got a very average haircut. Barber was friendly enough.I wouldn’t say it’s bad but it’s definitely not worth $33. I do like they set appointments and there’s a parking garage nearby so it’s convenient but for what you get it’s very average.

Moved to the area a couple of months back and after going to the same barber for 10 years tried The Barbershop in Assembly. First cut with Brendan and he understood exactly what I wanted and even worked to fix some mistakes of my last barber.Been going weekly since- easy online booking system and always professional and on time!

I went here on a whim after my usual barber was unavailable and am so glad I did! I worked with Dom and he did a great job of giving me exactly the cut I wanted, despite not having worked with him before. He gave me some good advice on my unruly cowlick and we set a plan to make it betterment incorporated into my hair once it grows out a bit, as my last barber cut it super short and made it stand up way more than it would otherwise. I will definitely be going back in the future.

Drove an hour to get my haircut by Bao, best haircut of my life. guy knows how to cut hair. Just gained a return customer.

The cuts are good, dont get me wrong. But the reason for a lost star is because of the prices. These are really over the top prices: mens haircut for $33. With tip that can easily bring it up to $38-40. Men get haircuts every couple of months, thats a lot to spend for a haircut. Its not like you even get a shampoo with the cut or any extras, or even the location being in the heart of Boston either. I think this place has the potential to be very popular if they lowered the price to around $25 maximum. Im sure theres lots of potential customers that would switch to this place as their go-to spot if it was cheaper.

Stay away from getting a haircut with Bao. Perhaps he was having a bad day because he wasnt very social and was unapproachable. When I told him what kind of haircut I wanted, he gave me the complete opposite. I wanted to keep it long on the top, but I walked out with a inch on the top. He had the chair spun around (avoiding the mirror) so I couldnt say anything until it was too late. When I told Bao I wanted some adjustments done, he took it as an insult, became passive aggressive and annoyed. Nonetheless, everyone else that worked there seemed to care for their clients hair except for Bao. If you have to go here, avoid booking an appointment with Bao.

Tried calling to see how busy they were, told me they were too busy for the rest of the day and then just hung up. Who needs an overpriced haircut anyways 🤷🏼‍♂️

The place has only been open a month so it is very clean. It has comfortable classic barber chairs with TVs being installed between the mirrors. My barber was Liz and she did an amazing job on my slight fade. She was very attentive to what I wanted, provided great conversation and played some great emo/punk throwbacks on her Bluetooth speaker haha. The haircut also came with hot lather and straight razor around the back and sides. Id recommend this to anyone looking for a new barber and Ill definitely be a returning customer! Tips are cash or venmo - cant add it to the full bill.
