An incredibly rude lady. I needed help completing my return. Federal and Mass have both accepted my return, but RI keeps rejecting it. When I explain my situation she started belittling me, rolling her eyes, and looked visibly annoyed that I would ever try to come to an H&R Block location to get help with an H&R Block product. I do admit I was ignorant to the fact that the location services and online services are two separate businesses. I accept that this is a reality, but her rude behavior while telling me this really took me back. I tried to ask her if she knew where else I could go to figure out why RI wont accept it, and she basically told me she wouldnt help. So, a 1 star experience, and I would never recommend her business.

Called and asked if they take walk ins. Yes. Went there at 12:30pm. Front desk says the woman is out to lunch. Will be back at 1 I said ok I’ll wait in my car. I watched someone walk in. Figured it was the lady so I go in and the lady says “oh good you’re back” well she’s with a person who made an appointment so you’ll have to wait. Why wouldn’t you say that at 1230 that she had an appointment at 1? I would’ve went home and come in at 2 or whatever? But no. She said nothing and made me waste 30mins in my car. So now I’m going to the HR block in Johnston and giving another certified accountant my commission.

I tried preparing my taxes myself with one of the well known online tools, but did not know how to input information from some forms I wasnt used to having. H&R Block saved me the hassle of figuring out if I was doing my returns correctly or not, and also got me more money back than I would have by doing it by myself.

Too expensive and the tax advisor, Michele Lombardi, was rude, unprofessional and dismissive.

Michelle Lombardi was very personable, charismatic, and knowledgeable. It was an easy, quick process.

I was not a customer, but witnessed some very abhorrent behavior this morning when a person from the urgent care asked the staff inside if they would move their car so she could get her car jumped and take her sick children home. The employee, I believe was named Michelle (as that is on her license plate), began arguing with the young woman who asked very politely just to move the car so her husband could pull in beside her. The woman yelled at the young lady that she was at work!!! And doesnt need to hear her sob story!!!!.I was horrified!! As a person who works in customer service, you would think this woman would be more than happy to help someone in need. Instead, she acted with ignorance, disdain, and cruelty. For that reason alone, I would never go to this H and R block. I will take my business elsewhere.

My husband and I visited the Johnston location in February and had a wonderful experience there. We had yet to receive our return, so we decided to call the Smithfield location since it was one of the few branches currently open. The woman who answered was extremely rude since the moment she picked up the telephone (Friday 5/22 at 10am). My husband called to assess the situation and see why our return was delayed, perhaps an incorrect number entered for our account or the wrong coding etc. No matter how experienced an accountant may be, they are humans and could have understandably mistyped- not a problem at all, we just wanted an answer. She seemed very annoyed that he would call and question the reason, and when asked if she would relay the message she answered with “are you serious?” She then asked for his telephone number and when he went to ask another question she quickly cut him off and responded, “Phone number....Phone number?!” At this point we were both quite frustrated (she was on speakerphone) and he told her that he was just going to come down to speak to someone instead. She responded to that by asking “is that athreat?” Absolutely no threat, we just live 10 minutes away and would rather speak with anyone else except for that woman. For a working professional, she should learn how to properly communicate. Unfortunately, neither of us or our family members will be returning to the Smithfield branch because of this.
