This is one of my favorite locations because of the basketball court. Also the staff is friendly and there is usually no waiting because they have multiple of the same machines. Overall clean and everything is working properly. They have other things to offer like a pool, locker rooms, sauna, and even daycare but i just havent needed it on my trips.

Overall the gym will get the job done but if there was a better option I prob wouldnt go here. The weights are rarely reracked, they sometimes dont even open on time and a lot of the equipment is kinda beat up. After a year of not being able to go there because of COVID restrictions I attempted to cancel my membership in person. The person there said they wouldn’t be able to cancel my membership only their manager could. They said the manager was only in 9am-1pm and after explaining why that would not work for me because I work full time they said sorry you have to mail in a cancellation form that will take up to 3 weeks to process, no doubt so they can try to charge me for an additional month. What a scam, they are unhelpful, unfriendly, and unprofessional. Do not sign up for LA Fitness. All they care about is squeezing as much out of you as they can and making it as hard as possible to get out of a membership.

Totally adequate facilities. However, the people who use this location NEVER rerack their own weights. None of the staff will do this either. Thus, weights will be randomly on the floor everywhere. The dumbbells are in a completely random order on their rack. This might not be a big deal for some. But if youre the least bit type A, itll drive you crazy.

I was very hesitant to go back to a gym, but needed to. I was impressed with the staff I saw traveling around disinfecting, the abundance of disenfectant for individual use, their seriousness about mask enforcement, and their strict enforcement on capacity, which appears to be less than 10% of posted capacity. Though as a result of capacity limits there is typically a club-style line at rush hour. The staff here is really pleasant and the facilities are nice. They have an excellent array of equipment, including an expansive hammer strength setup. There is an extensive set of free weights as well. They have a pool and an expansive offering of cardio machines. It is hard to not find something you want, except maybe a safety bar for squats (rare at most normal commercial gyms). Hours are good and there is a public parking garage right next to the entrance.I generally feel safe being in there, they seem to go above and beyond local pandemic protocols. Its never fun to be breathing heavily and have that impeded by a mask, when you want cool, fresh air that is circulating outside of it, but its worth it. Why be in there to take care of your health, without taking common sense measures to protect it from a once-a-century threat to it? That would be counterintuitive. Recommended--happy exercising.

Ive been a member of LA Fitness for the past 10 years spanning from living in LA until today. While I had planned to return to the gym after the pandemic, thanks to the handiwork of Managers Jasmin and Jessica, I wont be doing so. Today I went to LA Fitness to cancel my membership due to the pandemic, during the hours directed by LA Fitness Manager, Jessica. She informed me of this hours on a previous occasion when I went in to do so at 3:02pm and she informed me she stopped doing cancellations at 3pm. So much for guest courtesy but I respected the technicality.Upon arriving today, I spoke with Assistant Manager Jasmin who informed me Jessica would return momentarily. After 10 minutes Jessica did in fact return but, after saying nothing to anyone (not even a hello to her co-workers), she promptly took her lunch to a back desk and remained there. Jasmin who clearly took notice, looked at Jessica, looked at me and then proceeded to continue to socialize with the two staff members. Everyone is entitled to a break so I gave it another 10 or so minutes before re-approaching Jasmin and inquiring about Jessicas return. Jasmin asked Jessica until what time she was on her break. Jessicas response was a snappish 2 oclock. At this point its 1:30 and Ive been there 20 minutes and Jasmin tells me I have to wait until 2pm and informs me I have no other options. After pushing, Jasmin eventually tells me I can have a print out form to put in the mail. I inquire about the billing cycle and she responds she can freeze my account. I ask her whether I will be charged the customary $5 for a freeze and she doesnt know. At this point Ive been there almost a half hour, watched patrons walk past me without a mask properly on. Jasmin, in a very patronizing manner, eventually says she can give me a complimentary freeze.I left with an account still active and a resolution to never be a member of LA Fitness again even once this pandemic is over. While I understand that COVID has placed businesses in unfortunate positions, there is no reason why I would give my money to a large corporation that maintains poorly trained and unknowledgeable personnel like Jasmin, and snappish people like Jessica, both of whom exhibit exceptionally poor communication and customer service skills and who further exercise stalling tactics to adequately provide longtime loyal patrons the opportunity to cancel memberships at a time when they no longer feel safe utilizing public facilities.

The reason I give 3 stars is 1. The gym has a nice pool. 2. When I get there it’s not crowded and there are a lot of equipment to work with. 3. My personal trainer (Jamal) is very encouraging, nice and had me doing some great workouts. But the last two stars -4 there are no wipes to clean the equipment after use. -5. The professionalism of some staff. One staff member had his information wrong about my personal trainer, saying Jamal was no longer working there and that he would be working with me. A majority of the time, he talked and was being super negative. He had me do what seemed like 2 workout activities. I didn’t sweat at all. I was very disappointed with him but was happy to find out from my trainer that he was just temporarily relocated for a few weeks, rather than being fired or quitting. The lack of communication or mix up of information was concerning for me because it makes me wonder what else will I have to go through when I gain future information from staff.

Several reasons to give this place one star. 1. Parking is a nightmare. While you can park on the garage next door, you have to pay for it most of the time thats convenient to work out. And it adds up if you are regular to the gym. You also have to time your parking perfectly in order to not having to run over to add some coins. 2. Nobody re-racks the weights. you have to run around to find where the weights that you want are.3. The final and main reason! Cancellation is the worst nightmare. You have to go to your online account and print out a form and send it by mail to California. And they wont cancel everyone in your account (just you!), so you have to send another form for each additional member in your account just to cancel. Very deceptive and deliberately complicated policy just to cancel your whole account. You can cancel in person but the cancellation can be done only between 9 and 5, and not on 31st of December. But of course, you can sign-up at any time but cancellation can only be done during certain times. What a nightmare!!! They give you the worst run-around of any gym Ive ever been to if you ever want to cancel. BEWARE!!!!

When I went to get a membership there were two sign-up-employees available to do that at the time. I waited a total of 20 minutes (yeah I set a timer). By the time the man got to me, there were 3 other potential customers behind me in the line. The whole time, the man and the woman employee were at the same desk with two customers and laughing it up--not even paying attention to the situation happening at the front of the facility. Finally after 20 minutes, the man comes over and acknowledges me and I sit down with him to set up my 4 month member ship (NEVER do a contract here. They will continue to charge you, long after you request to terminate your membership), While we are setting up the account, he asks me repeatedly what kind of membership I want--as if he didnt hear me clearly the first time (I just wanted my membership and go work out; I wasnt trying to prolong it any further). Insolent if you ask me. Then the woman employee comes over and starts giggling with the man and talking inappropriate nonsense with him and then begin whispering to each other while I was right in front of them. He goes on to whisper something like no not not..shh*giggle*giggle*. What unprofessional behavior! One question, are these the sort of people headquarters want running their facility?? Other than some of the unfriendly/unprofessional/disgruntled staff, the machine selection is great, but the locker rooms are uncouth. What this place lacks is someone who gives any f@cks about maintenance. At all. Lights are always out and no one cares. Machines are always broken and no one cares. Pool is moldy and no one cares. I chalk this up to the business structure - the kids up front only get paid on commission, as I understand it. So if you are coming to sign up - they love you and spend a lot of time giving lots of f@cks. However, once youre in...should you report a problem or an issue needing maintenance, zero f@cks. Absolutely zero. Why? NO commission on giving f@cks about maintenance. And its sad. This could be a great facility.

Ive been going to this gym for a like over a year now .. The main reason I give this place 2 stars is due to the fact that they keep some of their equipment in a roped off area . You can only access to the equipment if you pay for a private trainer. It bothers me because allot of the equipment that they have tucked away are things that I use to work out. Ive never seen this in any gym that Ive been in. I usually use 24 so maybe thats why . But its ridiculous . FYI Silver spring, anyone with a membership should have access to ALL equipment !

Closed for weeks to replace wall covering, but water fountain drains are clogged, there are no towels in half the dispensers, the same old broken equipment is there, except for what is now missing completely. loud staff-involved arguments around the basketball court, no courtesy on use or cleanliness of equipment. I disinfect and dry machines when I use them, but now my main focus is on disinfecting myself after being there.

Overall the equipment and classes are ok, though the management of this LA Fitness (perhaps all of them) is terrible. Things remain broken for weeks, months and beyond (including sometimes hot water in the showers and heat in the pool); teachers occasionally dont show up for classes yet front desk staff knows and communicates nothing while students wait patiently for the teacher to appear; theres a huge number of sales staff in the front ready to sell a membership to anyone they can grab at the front door while nobody on staff knows anything about management of the gym; and when you join they market a free training assessment thats really a hoax -- the training staff seem to know nothing about a free assessment but are only focused on getting you to sign up for a long series of expensive training sessions. I might have signed up but was so turned off by their false marketing I wanted nothing to do with their training. I was most recently infuriated to discover that this LA Fitness had been advising members through signs that the gym was closed for a month for renovation. During that time I was going to another LA Fitness thats much less convenient, only to recently discover this LA Fitness in Silver Spring cancelled or postponed its renovation but never had the decency to even email or call members to inform them. With management like this Im amazed LA Fitness is still in business.

This by far the worst gym. They lied about my package and when I wanted to cancel my membership the so called “general manager” said the deal they lied about is Crazy in a patronizing manner, now I’m currently waiting to cancel my membership, it has already been 50 minutes, and the person that has the authority to cancel my membership is with a customer that was behind me.Update: they have finally canceled my membership and the person that canceled it said he no longer wants me to come to the gym because I cancelled my membership.

Due to moving frequently around the country, Ive been a member of many gyms. This one has been one of the better ones.Equipment is adequate in condition and availability/number. The facility is clean - not sparkling, but certainly clean. Employees are friendly, respectful, and helpful.Personally, I look for row machines (they have two) and stair climbers (6 if i remember correctly) for cardio equipment. Abundant treadmills, ellipticals, and stationary bikes fill the rest of the first floor cardio area.Upstairs, weight lifters can find 3 squat racks (1 being a more versatile power rack/cage), 5 bench press stations, dumbbells up to 120lb (I think?). They could use more of the low-midrange weights as it becomes a bit of a hunt for only 2-3 pairs of weights around 40-15lbs which are quite popular. Plenty of weight collars, I rarely had to search for them. The space is a little tight in the free weights area though, so its important to be mindful of yourself and others while exercising or moving.I also used the child care while I was a member. I found the child care room clean, spacious, and supplied with fun appropriate toys and play structures. The attendants were always kind and understanding. Some more actively participating in play with the kids, others remaining vigilant from up front of the room. Karen was critical in helping my toddler adjust to being left behind in the room, and after only a few days, my kid was happily abandoning my arms at drop off. Parents of clingy little ones, there is hope...and her name is Karen! The manager, Chris, was professional and warm every single day I went. He addressed any concerns I had quickly and respectfully. Overall, I really enjoyed my membership here and if I still lived there, Id gladly continue attending.
