Horrible move-out experience. Staffs were unprofessional and rude the moment you told them you are moving out. Despite being reminded three times they “forget” to reserve the elevator and parking spot for us, leaving us with a big uhaul and nowhere to park. They also cancelled our mailbox weeks before we moved out without any notice so we completely lost all of our mails in that time period.Note to management: customer experience don’t stop the moment tenants move in. It should be the whole journey, including moving out as well. We might not live at Valdok anymore but we could still refer our friends here. Run your business with long term vision.
I would give 0 stars if I could. Do not move here!!! This business is just concerned about money and not concerned about providing positive customer service to it’s residence. We were residing here during pandemic and carpet was rarely vacuumed. We only were aware of one steamed carpet cleaning the entire year we were there. We didn’t have access to amenities due to COVID and were not given any discounts on our rent/storage/parking fees. Management is very poor. You will not get deposit back and will get added fees upon move out. We even attempted to negotiate outrageous fees with the help of BBB and management did not budge and did not care about our expressed concerns. Lots of bike theft with no concern for improved security. Best part of the building was Krystal and her husband who provided fun activities each month and freebies. Maintenance staff also nice and helpful.
Valdok Apartments is a terrific creation by the entire team- developer, architect, interior designer and contractor+++. Its a very personal and sentimental to me because the developer chose to name it after Valdok family who owned and operated CPA business for decades. I personally had an opportunities to meet and spend many evenings with Mr. Valdok.Taking clues from the Nordic Heritage, the architecture and interiors seamlessly bring the aesthetic and experiences together creating a warm, naturalistic and comfy feeling as one wonders through various spaces all the way to rooftop.Sample unit we toured was amazingly simple, warm and aesthetically pleasing reminding me to upgrade my own home. Just beautiful. So many words could be used to describe this- simple, carefully detailed and coordinated, warm, comfy, contemporary and rooted in nature.I had an opportunity to travel in Norway this summer. The experiences walking through Valdok truly reflect the Norwegian spirits.Great job and congratulations to the entire team.
I am extremely impressed with this community and their leasing team! Madison gave me a wonderful tour of the community and Gina has been super helpful with answering all of my questions. I am very excited for my preferred move-in date to approach and apply for a new home at Valdok!
Lived in Valdok for a year. Apartment/building was great. Location was great. Front staff was great.Overall really enjoyed my time there and recommend it to anyone moving to Ballard.
I moved here just before the lockdown and have had a great experience since. These apartments are located downtown so that comes with the noise of the city and other things that are natural and normal to those that understand city and apartment life. That being said being stuck in lockdown and working from home and going to school I really wasnt bothered by any noise, I think the location is off the main street enough and Ballard is not as crazy as Belltown area. Also living in apartments you run into the normal things that need fixed and the maintenance crew has always been great and quick to respond! the staff is great and professional and have always been quick to address any questions that I have.Reading some of the comments I am not sure if people understand apartments lol the rent does not include paying for the amenities unless you want to reserve a community room for a party you have to pay. Also to address the security. This is really important to me and the parking garage is only for residents but there are ways that motivated individuals could get in if they wanted. I have made a point not to leave my keys in my car or unlocked or items in my car and I have not had an issue. I have heard of the break ins and have always seen emails from the community of increased patrols and other measures that were taken. Also the building requires fob entry and requires it to operate any elevators.Personally as far as apartment living goes I think these apartments are amazing and one of the best I have lived in.
1. Bikes are stolen constantly. The upside is that they dont charge for bike storage for that reason. However the bike storage area has massive windows where you can clearly see all the bikes. When I left, there was a massive break in and someone stole multiple bikes.2. No accountability. A staff member said they would set up our electricity account and email us the password so that we can pay the bill. Not only did they not email us the password, they also entered the wrong address. The bills were being sent to another unit. The city ended up charging us a late fee because we never received these bills AND we couldnt log into the account. The staff refused to take responsibility for it let alone respond to our messages.
My wife and I just had to move out of our Valdok apartment for family reasons. We have moved around apartments a lot over the years (8 different homes in 8 years) and I have to say - Valdok is by far the best apartment experience we have ever had. The staff is absolutely wonderful - from the Front Office to Maintenance, there was always someone available and happy to assist with any problems that came up. But its not just the staff that great. They have THE BEST package delivery system (Amazon Hub and Front Desk Assistance). The Lobby, Gym and other Amenities were all top quality and well maintained. Overall it was a great experience - and I would highly recommend it to anyone who is interested.
I have really enjoyed living at Valdok and recently decided to stay for another year. Scott and staff have been so helpful so I am very appreciative.
Move in during a quarantine was amazing. I wasn’t able to see the apartments due to the social distancing but everything online was accurate and Scott was so so helpful and responded so quickly to phone calls and emails! I couldn’t have been happier with the experience. Love living at Valdok!
Very rarely write a review but felt this was one worth the effort. My wife and I, recently relocated to Seattle from London and having now viewed many apartments throughout, confidently say Valdok is the best weve viewed for our requirements.Gilbert, was our point of contact, very professional and generally a really nice guy.Notably, everything we discussed in person is what we received following our visit, nothing hidden or unexpected in our lease. We move in Saturday and both very excited! Thanks again, Gilbert and the team
DO NOT LEASE FROM THIS PLACE! Your stuff will be stolen! There are regular thefts in the building and the management team is unwilling or unable to do anything about it. Cars are broken into in the buildings garage, and bikes are stolen from the bike room with shocking frequency. Management knows this happens and cant/wont stop it, and will not try to make it right. The fact they charge $200 a month for parking in a garage with this many break-ins is some kind of dark joke.Edit for Response: I called the office and discussed my specific concerns before submitting the original review to give Valdok a chance to address them. I was told that theft was a fact of living in this building and nothing could/would be done about it, nor would Valdok modify rent, fees, or amenities to make up for these problems.
Gilbert goes above and beyond to ensure a smooth rental process. He truly does his best to make you feel at home and welcome. Love living at Valdok 2 and it’s all due to the help of Gilbert!
Valdok Apartments offers beautiful apartment homes that are well designed and constructed. I loved everything about the studio home that Im very proud to call my new home. I cannot wait until my move in date! Elijah Rice is a phenomenal Leasing Professional! He is so incredibly knowledgeable, very professional, extememly patient and super funny. The amenities are awesome and the one month free rent is both generous and smart. I highly recommend considering to make Valdok Apartments your new home!
Such an incredible building! Beautiful apartments and world class amenities. Definitely recommend to anyone in search of a new home! The staff is so friendly and they treat my dog like family!
I very much enjoyed working with Gilbert to tour my new home! He was extremely proactive in helping me find exactly what I needed and helped make my leasing experience smooth and easy. Valdok is an amazing community with wonderful staff who are willing to go the extra mile to ensure your living experience is fun, relaxing, and comfortable. The apartments are extremely spacious and equipped perfectly for modern living.
After checking out many apartments in the Ballard area, Elijah made us feel right at home. The units, amenities and staff are all great. They have been incredibly accommodating getting us settled after our move from San Diego.
If you are searching for a new place to live, I highly recommend you stop by Valdok. Elijah, the leasing professional, has been extremely helpful in making sure that I find the right unit. Elijah has been able to answer all my questions, responds quickly to all calls and emails, and has made the entire leasing process easy. I am very happy that Valdok is my new home.
After a long weekend of apartment hunting, I toured Valdok with Gilbert and I was sold. The building is modern and sleek with controlled access garage and bike parking. The units have clean lines, great appliances and USB outlets. And the community game room, co-work spaces, fitness center and amazing rooftop are amenities that you do not find everywhere. Everything is brand new! I was among the first 20 units or so to move in and have had virtually no problems since. The leasing staff is always quick to help and friendly as can be. Highly recommend to newcomers like myself or Ballard natives.
I lived at Valdok for a year and was one of the first residents in the community. This was my 4th apartment complex I moved into while living in Seattle and I had nothing but an amazing experience while living there. While there were normal apartment foes, management was always very responsive and available in their offices for resident feedback. My neighbors were beyond friendly and volunteered to help me with my pets anytime I went out of town. The community planned events to get neighbors and different residents to meet each other. Upon moving out, the leasing office provided me with all of my options and estimates for move out fees and even credited me back more than anticipated.
With only a limited amount of time in the city, we did an extensive amount of research on neighborhoods and apartments to see the as many available units before making a decision as we move from California to Seattle. I called someone at Valdok, told them specifically what we were looking for, and booked an appointment. On Saturday at 11 A.M. there was no one inside the leasing office to buzz us in. We stood outside in the cold for 10 minutes until a friends resident invented us to wait inside. Multiple residents came into the lobby looking for the office staff and were disappointed that none were available. We waited another 10 minute (now 11:20) for someone to casually walk by and ask if we needed something, and we informed him we’d been waiting for our 11 A.M. showing. He didn’t apologize or offer any explanation. It took him two minutes to ask us if we wanted an traditional 1/1 or an “open” floor plan. We told him, as we’d told the rep on the phone, that we only wanted a traditional apartment. He briskly told us none were available, and then we left. It was a tremendous waste of valuable time for us, and a huge disappointment.
I appreciate the Valdoks updated apartments (i.e. the build, style, and layout). I also appreciate the updated amenities that we have access to like the rooftop deck, fitness centers, and the co-working lounge. My boyfriend and I wanted an apartment that felt like home and the Valdok definitely comes close to providing an apartment space that feels like our home. My only complaints would be the rising cost and lack of security - weve had numerous break-ins in our parking garage. Multiple fire-alarm scares in the dead of night where individuals somehow broke in through the apartment entrance in order to set off the fire alarm in an attempt to break in and steal from units. Having recently relocated to the Seattle area, it came to my attention that these sort of incidents are common occurrences with apartments in the Ballard area. This may be true, but I am not a fan of the lack of communication and lack of honesty received from our apartment staff. Incidents are kept hush-hush. Its hard to get a real answer or the real story from management. This is our home and our lives too, not to mention were paying a pretty penny to live here. At the very least, they should be telling us the truth and what actionable items are being done to prevent these incidents from happening in the future. However, it takes a long time for management to act on complaints. Management staff often seem unorganized and frazzled when we ask them for assistance with missing packages or errors on our bills, etc. In conclusion, yes, these are luxury apartments, but the cost, lack of security, and management staff are beginning to influence our decision to start looking at other options for 2020.
Working with Gilbert has been an amazing and rewarding opportunity! Not only was he attentive in exuding the top of the line customer service, but he really went out of his way- above and beyond- in accommodating any and every need expressed to him when helping us choose the perfect unit to call home at the lovely Valdok Apartments! His genuine posture of service and transparent communication definitely added to our overall experience with the entire house search process, from beginning to end. Definitely ask for Gilbert at Valdok Apartments- you will not be disappointed!!
I’ve had a great experience with the community from the tour with Gilbert to moving in! If you’re in the market for a new place to call home I’d definitely recommend stopping in!
This place smells so good you can smell it from the street. Thank you for pleasing my nasal passages.
Gilbert was very helpful during the tour/application process. Looking forward to moving in. Thank you.
Hello! I wanted to take a moment and share my experience thus far with Valdok. I am moving from out of state within a very small window of time. Without even seeing the place, we said yes to Valdok and couldnt be more excited! The staff, Stephanie + Jess, have been nothing but outstanding. Giving me details on the apartment, along with answering all of my random questions....they are true rock stars. Moving can be VERY stressful and Stephanie has been able to really support me through this move. So for anyone interested in moving to the Ballard area and want to find a talented group of people to help you along the way......Valdok is the place! I will update this review after my official move in...but so far......5 STARS!
It’s been great living here. People from the leasing office are friendly and willing to help.
Valdok is an amazing complex, excellent staff and management. Gilbert and his team went above and beyond with making my move a smooth transition, words cant discribe how much the entire staff made me feel at home before I was even able to move all my things in. I was gifted a bottle of champaygne witch was a nice touch. Then the next night I got an email that Valdok was providing pizza for all the residents... not just like a pizza party they literally ordered two large pizzas of my choice and had them waiting for me when I got off of work! Wow! Neighbors are very easy going and Valdok is in a great location. Wendys, Safeway, Walgreens, Ross etc are no more that 3-5 mins away. 7-11 is literally across the street for all of your conscience store needs. The interior of my apartment is about 900FT for a 1 bedroom witch is great considering we are in Seattle. Oh and the amenities are amazing. The gym is top of the line, who needs LA Fitness even if it is right down the street ... Its definitely one of the most beautiful places I have lived in. I would highly recommend moving here !
Gilbert is your man. He was very patient with us through out the entire moving process. Overall, great leasing staff. We appreciate them working so hard to ensure customers happiness.Aminities are the best compared to nearby apartment such as urbana, oden, Ballard on 20th, Wilcox, Etta. Voldok has lots of different floor plans that are suitable for every family. Definitely recommend booking a tour if you are in the neighborhood.Tips:Internet > Get your internet via Wave G $60 a month (no contract), installation can be done in 24-48 hours. Wave technicians set up the wifi within 10 mins. Xfinity also offers optic fiber wifi, your bill will be around $60-65 (with 12 months contract)Parking > plenty of parking inside the building. The parking garage is very secure.
I had previously written an in-depth review but for some reason the post was never posted, not sure why.
