Unfortunately I tried to be a good person and donate money to a good cause and instead I am now getting fraudulent charges on my credit card from this company. I was lied to in downtown Gilbert by two young men at a table who said I would be charged a one time donation of $20 and instead I check my bank account and I was charged $48!! I am so beyond upset- thanks tor ruining peoples trust for donating money to those in need!!!! Wrong in so many ways!

This organization took my debit card number for a 1 time donation and has been using it for at least 2 years every month. The withdrawals are for $10 so I am not going to try to get the $$ back but I cancelled my card and will get a new one. This has happened to other donors. Shame that an organization that some reviews say does good work is deceitful.

As I am going through the reviews, I see that I am definitely not the only one who has been fooled by this “one time donation”. It has been nearly 2-3 years that they consistently take out money when it was clear that it would be only a one time thing. I have tried time and time again to contact them and nothing works. It seems to me that the only solution is to report it as a fraud risk and get a new card. If you are reading this, DO NOT give them your card information. This is absolutely ridiculous and if this is your way of raising money for children in need then it’s an absolute disgrace.

Like several others, I was initially misled about my contribution amount and was charged more than initially expected, however, I will say after reaching out they did rectify the situation and do seem to legitimately want to do good

Like many other of the poor reviews here I agreed to what I thought was a one time donation to a man outside a shopping center, but it turned out to be a recurring donation. I have tried on multiple occasions to contact and stop these recurring payments, only once I was able to talk to someone. The woman I spoke with (I assume a receptionist?) said she did not have the ability to stop these payments, and that the person who did was out of the office and they would call me back within 24 hours. I received no call back, and have tried since then multiple times to reach out via phone and email. The pitch I was given indicated that backpack and supplies would be given to those in need. What I have found out is that their charity does not provide these sorts of services, and certainly not in the Phoenix area where they are HQ’ed and I also live. After doing some digging, it has been hard to determine if this is a legitimate charity, while there are some good reviews here and elsewhere on the internet, they seem to be too few and far between for a charity that is truly doing good work. Bad reviews appear to come from not only people like me who are just trying to get the payments to stop, they also come from former employees who generally indicate that the work being done is sub-par at best. It would even seem that there may be some impropriety in the financials that is worth investigating. My best advice, don’t sign up to begin with, and if you do just save yourself time and money and cancel your card, report the transactions as fraudulent(so that it will be harder for them to keep doing this), it will likely be the only way to stop the payments.

I had a guy talk to me in Houston about this charity. I don’t usually donate at tables outside of stores but he seemed very educated and nice so I did. I looked you up after and love what you’re doing to help kids.

Approached in New Orleans to make a donation to help purchase backpacks for children. The representative was very passionate and I agreed to donate $10 to the organization. Shame on me for not paying attention to my credit card bill as I see know the theyve been billing $10 a month since February without my express authorization. It seems like theyve been doing this to many other individuals and Ill be reaching out to ChildHelp to provide documentation where I authorized said charges.

I too was misled only to find my one time donation being taken out for nearly a year now. Ive left messages, Ive sent emails trying to stop this draft. My most recent attempts today were 2 voicemails and an email. No replies, but my account was drafted again and since Im on medical leave from work the draft was honored by my bank which charged me an additional $30 overdraft fee. Im extremely upset and feel if you were as legitimate as you want people to believe you would certainly respond to your donors.

Just like everyone else in here I made a ONE time donation outside a gas station for a bag back to help the children in need. Come to find out over a year later I’m being charged every single month $10. The money is not the issue but the dishonesty and miss information is what I have an issue with. If anything lesson learned about believing strangers that work for these predatory companies. You guys should be ashamed to have to do business in such a dishonest manner.

I was lead to believe I was making a one time donation of $10 to buy students backpacks. Six months later my bank alerted me that there was suspicious activity on my card. It seems this ‘charity’ had been drafting $10 every month for six months. Since I did not receive and e-receipt and I could not reach the vendor, the only way to stop payment was to put in a fraud claim and cancel my card. Not a great way to shore up your reputation of ‘supporting children.’

I’ve donated to this non-profit twice. The first time with cash and the second time with my credit card. I was told it would be a one time donation of $10, BUT they’ve been charging my card for the past 6 months without my consent. I’ve tried calling them to see why and what is going on, but no one answers. I had to cancel my card and receive a whole new one because of this. Definitely not making the same mistake again..

It seems that I am experiencing the same thing as many others have. I made a one time donation outside a restaurant in AZ. I bought a backpack. I agreed to this one time donation. I found that they have charged me $10 a month for 11 additional months. I have called ChildHelp directly. I left a message for a person named Lindsey because I was told she was the only one who could help me. I have not received a return call. I also have not been able to get through to someone at Childhelp since. I always get a voicemail. The dishonesty in the one-time donation program is disappointing. Considering how many people have had this happen over multiple states, I dont blame the representatives outside these stores. Shame on ChildHelp for not properly training their employees and/or knowingly leaving out information.

Suspicious fundraising. Third party backpack drive. Employee of third party approached me on the sidewalk and badgered me to buy a backpack for this organization. I offered to donate straight to the organization with a credit card. Just figured out theyve been billing me $10/month since. Now I wonder who really made money off my donation. Sketchy sketchy sketchy. Never felt so used and abused donating to a non-profit. Considering a call to the Secretary of State.

Do NOT give them your credit card!!! I made a one time donation and have months of charges on my credit card. They do not answer the phone or email you back. I had to cancel my credit card and report them to my bank. It is a shame when places like this abuse the few who generously give to charity.

Best organization I have ever had the honor of donating to or working with. No one does better work. Cant believe they have been around for 60 years! Been to star studded events with them like galas and golf tournaments as well as villages and advocacy centers where its dig in and do the work no one else wants to do for these kids! One employee I met was a janitor, and another a cook who had been at the village over 20 years! One dropped to his knees and began thanking Sarah and Yvonne (the Hollywood starlets who founded the charity all those years ago). The man exclaimed,Thank you, youve changed my families lives forever. Now I can certainly agree, they have also changed my familys lives forever! Now having met and heard stories straight from kids grown, who came through Childhelp villages and centers, one man who never had shoes before age 8 when Childhelp gave him his first pair. Another who never felt like she was home, or could unpack her suitcase until arriving to the CA Village after being removed from over 25 foster and adoptive care homes. One grandmother who saw people doing a backpack drive at a Chic Fil A and the ladies gave her the Childhelp Child Abuse Hotline, 18004AChild, she called in to speak with a mastered degree level counselor on the other line. Her grand daughter was promptly removed from the home, turned out the grandmothers worst fears were real, her grand daughter who she just came to visit for Thanksgiving was being abused. This is real people, its happening in our communities in our families and in some cases in our homes. This organization is credited with saving over 10.5 MILLION children and helping to pass EVERY law against child abuse in our country. Nominated for 9 Nobel Peace Prize. Over $.92 on ever dollar they get goes to the actual cause and the actual kids. Whether its tackling this epidemic in our country or just being the BEST non profit they can be...They are THE experts in their field. Thank you Childhelp. Heres to 60 more years and helping 10million + more kiddos.
