I was trying to figure out how much my car was worth on Edmunds and CarMax popped up with an offer to buy my car at a fair price. Went to the CarMax store and they confirmed that price. Price is good for a week so I can find a replacement.

Car Max was great. This was the second time Ive sold a vehicle to Car Max. I got 3300 more for my F150 than another dealer offered. The process was pretty quick and service was great. Im glad they are now here in Scottsdale.

My experience was great!My in store offer matched my online appraisal to the penny, and went very smoothly without any haggling.It would have gone even smoother but I had to come back the next day to finish because my bank had closed, after I wasted time going to another dealership that claimed that they would meet or beat the CarMax offer and then failed to follow through and actually offered $1500 less once I was there in person.But CarMax kept their word, and I probably won’t waste my time anywhere else from now on when buying or selling used cars.Thanks for a great experience!

Went on the 20 min test drive and wasnt 100% sure if we wanted to buy that day. We didnt feel pressured and got to take it on the 24 hr test drive . let the kids see it and how it worked for our family and got it after the 24 hr test drive. They made the process very simple! I was also pleased that the whole process took only a bit more than hour and I left with a check for the full amount. All people I interacted with were courteous, professional and friendly.

At first, it was a pleasurable experience. 14 days later, however, I got a call that my financing had been reversed, and that my trade vehicle had already been paid off, so was not able to get my original vehicle back. On top of all this, they want me to drive 4 hours to bring the car back, and then I am left up to my own devices to get back home, yet another 4 hours. I am sure there is a legality involved about having paid my trade off before the financing was truly official. I was forced to go out and try to find another vehicle since I would be forced to be without a vehicle.

I really like CarMax and this is my second purchase. The App is great, Financing as well, The people are also great. The reason for 4 Star is the process is sooo slow. I spent 3 or 4 hours prior to my visit talking and documents to CarMax and at the location we had to repeat the entire process again making it almost 5 hour marathon from 11 am to 3:45 pm. The reason I was told was because I was trading in my formerly purchased CarMax purchase, we excuse me. They knew that two days before and I had an appointment for the appraisal at 11 am.

I had a very unique situation when selling my car. Everyone went above and beyond in providing me with the best service as well as helping me navigate what I needed to bring in to make the transaction go smoothly. This CarMax location is great! All the staff inside are very helpful and friendly! Very different from other locations, they are more exclusive and you get to work with the same member from start to finish. I did a last minute finance change and they were quick and easy to work with! I needed some documents sent the same day and they sent it within minutes. The manager was down to earth and loves cars too, easy to talk to. Everything went smooth, I did a trade in too and got a pretty fair deal overall. Worst case, the offer stands for 7 days so no pressure on the sale/trade in. I’ve done a number of buy and sales through CarMax in AZ. I personally worked with John Dales through this transaction who owned a few of the same brand car I bought so he definitely knew what he was talking about. Very friendly and patient guy overall, I definitely recommend working with him! I did not feel pressured at all during my time there. Additionally, I had a chance to work with the service department there who were more than helpful in fixing things found after the purchase when I did a purchase inspection at another dealership, which wasn’t much in the first place. They were able to reimburse me for a battery I bought at a dealership easy! Overall, pretty good experience, I’d come back for another opportunity.

The person I communicated with by email and phone to begin the process of appraising my trade in vehicle and selecting a new to me vehicle was excellent. All the details were set. I had all documentation needed to complete the agreements and the paperwork was uploaded to my file. The transaction should be quick and easy. However, after making an appointment and driving 2 hours to get to the dealership, it took over 5 hours for the sales person and manager to complete the transactions. Why did I have to give someone online all the necessary info to upload, and bring copies of documents, only to have the salesman and manager tell me they had to verify (obtain from their sources) the information again? The online experience was great! The in person experience, not so much. Most Importantly, I do feel I got a very fair price for my trade in and I am enjoying my new to me vehicle.

It’s upsetting when a business can’t even conduct honest good business!! Kyle and Dexter are horrible to deal with. Waste of time dealing with them. Go to the Tolleson location! My car came back with the full initial quote value and is the only good thing with Scottsdale Carfax. Seems like computers could serve the customer better than these two. Will be contacting the BBB.

The associate who helped me - I think his name was Jerry - was very courteous, professional and generally very pleasant to work with. The managers who stepped in occasionally were also very courteous and communicative. The entire process was very fluid. This is the fourth vehicle I have sold at Carmax and you just can’t beat the convenience and consistency.

Easy way to sell a car without, risk, pressure to buy another, or other hassle. Jerry at the Scottsdale branch was terrific to work with.You dont get top dollar but it was quicker and easier than trying to find a private party. You start with the CarMax online appraisal, which was quite a bit lower than the Autotrader online appraisal, but STILL more than a dealer would give you as a sale or as a trade in.

Carmax should learn a few things from Carvanna, a few items are 1, buying process is cumbersome and much longer with carmax, further carmax should and needs to list the actual vehicle color name rather than just say (white) when the model may have 2 different whites. I biggest issue was I test drove the truck once it was ready for test drive thinking, wow its loud, must be a factory sports exhaust however found out it was a aftermarket exhaust which was not listed nor reviled. The end to this issues was that I paid $1200 for a new dealer install exhaust .Also, the in door jam dealer vin/tire info/paint code etc. had been bleached or wiped out so that you cannot see any info and mind you this is a 2020 truck with only 10000 miles, seems a little shady to me. At the end of the day I love my truck and spend $1200 to fix a custom back to normal which Im sure carmax will not reimburse me for . I was more impressed with carvanna and vroom.Mike D.

The problem with CarMax is that its like a Catch 22 for those with credit scores under 700. You will pretty much walk out of there with a car but youre going to suffer from high interest rates. The customer service is good but when you go online to set things up, they dont make it clear what you need to bring and because I was not told of a certain piece of information I needed on addition to having to go through bank statements with their finance person, what should have took 90 minutes took over 4 hours. I am already looking into alternative financing

Recently sold my older car to this team and it was an incredibly easy process and took a reasonable amount of time. I used their quote calculator online first and made sure to clean my car up as best as possible, as I wanted to make sure I didn’t blatantly give them a reason to offer me less once I showed up. I was a little worried because online there is nowhere to indicate windshield cracks or damaged lights, which I had both.Ultimately you show up, they start the paperwork, then you pull your car in so the agent can take a million pictures. Those then get sent to someone (not sure if that’s someone in the building or offsite) that decides the official offer. That’s pretty smart because it’s less stressful not feeling like I had to convince the person I was working with - as they had nothing to do with the decision. I received the same full offer that was given to me online - yay!We had to do some additional paperwork because I still had a small loan on the car, but that was pretty painless too.I’d definitely go this route again if I need to get rid of a car. Very happy.

The initial day to look at cars and possibly decide on one was good. So I decided on a car, traded in my car. When I went a few days later to actually drive it and look it over I decided that I wanted it. So the person who was helping on the final end of the sale wasnt helpful, knowledgeable about how everything works inside the car. And he said that he wasnt allowed to get inside the car with a mask on and show me how to set everything up. I went home upset, frustrated and feeling like I shouldnt have purchased this car. Im not a techy person. A few days later I had off and I called the dealership and told them how I felt. I had to go back again which angered me further. They got a man to help me and teach me how to program the music, etc. He actually got in the car with me with a mask on. Thank you John.

The process to sell my car was great at the Scottsdale CarMax location. I worked with Andy Baker and he was awesome. I got CarMax offer first and decided to get about 5 other dealer offers. They all ultimately did a bait and switch on the amount, which resulted in me taking CarMaxs offer. It was fair and seamless. Had to see what else was out there, but with the haggling, change in offer, rude service, pressure to buy another car, and lack of communication; CarMax was the best deal and best service - Hands Down.

CarMax was very easy to work with as long as you dont mind working with different folks on the phone (even if they do say you can reach them directly-its not true). It didnt really matter because each person did have access to detailed notes about us and the vehicle we were interested in. All the salesmen I met face to face with were great and I was able to access them directly. We love our new-to-us Chevy Bolt! we also really liked not haggle over the price. We paid cash and were given the total costs days in advance. Low stress car shopping!

Long story short, Solomon was horrible. He sold me a car and never transferred the vehicle to my closet location. Few days later the car was on hold for anther buyer. Carmax did absolutely nothing to correct their mistake. Save the headache, shop elsewhere.

Im an employee at the call center for carmax.. I went to purchase a car yesterday with all the documents that they requested.... When one of the supervisors was assisting me she ran my credit several times (which i was approved)to only let me know i couldnt purchase a vehicle cause i didnt have enough hours on my last paycheck stub which could have been disposed to me prior to running my credit. She also didnt take advantage of helping me look for a car that i could get with what i was approved for based on my hours... This wasnt an iconic experience from this location

Some companies will send you a check in the mail a few days after you give them your car. Not Carmax. They gave us a check that day and we deposited it immediately and the funds were available the next day! We were there no longer than an hour and a half. Buying experience was just as easy as the first time I used CarMax.However, in the first 90 days, I have had to get new brakes, a new serpentine belt, all new struts are needed (which I dont have 1200) for, I replaced the batteries in both remotes and had to change a headlight.With the above mentioned, I am disappointed

I stopped online instead of running around to dealers, had a vehicle shipped in from another state, did a test drive when it got here, then went in to sign the finalized paperwork which was mostly completed before so that was really nice.
