I’ve been living here for well over a year now. 3 stars really is the best rating I can give. The property is old and it shows. Cabling hangs from the roofs down the sides of the wall. Insulation for piping has torn open and been left in disrepair. Certain courtyards don’t have any grass in them. LA big problem for me has been the dog park. Because of the way it is maintained, it is either a sand box or a swamp, depending on how much it is being watered. There’s also a big problem with aggressive dogs that management has chosen not to address despite my several complaints. I’ve personally been hurt twice after my dog was attacked by a larger dog.The pros to living here: location, location, location and the dog park and pool when they are open and in good condition. Now that the prices have gone up on units, it’s hard to say that living here is a good value. It’s also hard to recommend it. I would urge those considering Scottsdale59 to explore alternatives in the same price range.
ABSOLUTELY LOVED LIVING HERE!!! I cant say good enough things about this complex. Leland, the assistant manager, and Laurel and Jeana all helped me when I was moving into my studio apartment. Im super sad to leave this apartment due to unforeseen circumstances, but I recommend this place to anyone looking for a nice apartment in Scottsdale. Leland was such a sweetheart when I was putting in my notice to vacate.Maintenance stays on top of things. Ive never had an issue with my current apartment except seeing occasional bugs which is COMMON in a big city like Scottsdale. Theyre very good at getting pest control out ASAP. After they come, I see no more bugs. This is the only problem Ive had here. All utilities are included as a flat rate. Super quiet complex. Very clean, theres always groundskeepers cleaning the areas. Apartment is located in a safe, upscale neighborhood. Rent here, you wont regret it.
I have lived here for a few years now and sadly have to leave. The staff here have been absolutely marvelous and they are primarily why I rated this complex 5 stars. Maintenance ALWAYS got my work orders done in a timely manner and at times even showed me and my fiancé tips and tricks on how to fix minor things so we didnt have to worry about submitting work orders for trivial things. As for the office staff, Ive never had a poor experience with them at all. Not even once. Leland is a phenomenal person and as long as you understand that he can only do the best he can, he will move heaven and earth to help. I can never thank them enough for allowing our first renting experience to be an amazing one.Now moving onto the complex and apartment itself, the amenities are really nice and well kept. My only real complaints about amenities is that on occasion the courtesy dog poop bags wouldnt get refilled. But to be fair, if you own a dog like we did its not that hard to just go buy dog bags and use your own. But its still a minor inconvenience nonetheless. Both apartments we rented here (1&2 bed) never had any issues with anything inside that were critical. The one time we had a scare was with our dish washer and maintenance fixed it within 2 hours of us putting the work order in. Internet can be a bit wonky at times in the E building and when I talked to Cox it appears it is due to a faulty Cox node. But in usual Cox fashion, they don’t really like to fix things unless things completely stop working. All in all, I would rate this place 5 out of 5. Definitely move in here if you get the chance and you shouldn’t regret it. Hell, if I didn’t have to move due to work we would have stayed here for many more years.
I had a great feeling about this place when I was touring, but since moving in, Ive been incredibly disappointed.- There are tiny gnat-like bugs in the drain maintenance cant (or wont) get rid of.- If I come home in the early morning from work and someone is parked in my parking spot, theres nothing I can do; even if I notify the office once they open, the office cant (or wont) move the other vehicle until end of business day.- Because the boiler and chiller are on the same system, my apartment hasnt had air-conditioning since November 2020. The office sent an email on 3/8/21 (attached) stating they are hoping to have the AC ready to run for the weekend, and as of today, 3/30/21, it is 84F out and there is still no A/C in my apartment.Overall, this apartment isnt worth the price.
ROACHES. The leasing team was friendly and responsive to issues for the most part, but they could not manage pest control. They let one unit get completely out of control with German roaches. For example, after a micro injection I counter over 50 dead just by looking in the front window (no one was living there at the time). The roaches, of course, made their way to the neighboring units including mine. Scottsdale 59 had from October 2020 to March 2021 to try to resolve the issue but never did. It took them until January to even figure out the source of the roaches. Even after hiring a new pest control company, me moving out of my apartment and only using it to store furniture until my lease ended (leaving no food or mess whatsoever), and the “source” unit being vacated, there were still roaches. They had many many chances to fix the issue but ultimately had to release me from my lease early. After the infestation I experienced in building G and hearing about an even larger infestation in building F from the pest control company, I would not recommend living here to anyone unless you like coming home to roaches in your bedroom.
Another Happy Resident😋🐶🐾 — I have lived at 59 since October of 2017 since and drifting the renovations. It’s not just an apt it’s a COMMUNITY. It’s dog friendly, great office and maintenance staff. The location is very central, the amenities are great Out pool is heated and 24 hours, state of the art workout room, 24 hours also. If you are looking for a home you will find it here. VERY SOUND PROOF but our units are for more of the single, more dorm style or New York size. But I LOVE IT❤️🐶🐾 and so does Oliver Thank you
Really great place to live! Very quiet complex, nice rooms and management was great to deal with. Mostly worked with Leland who was super awesome but the other managers were also great, would recommend!
Relocating from Michigan out here to Scottsdale. I’ve lived here for a year now and I renewed my lease. Gorgeous Property, amazing management and on sight team! It’s like living in a resort. Not to mention, the location is prime, close to dining, shopping and hiking. I got to say that Mark, Laurel, and Sarah are really friendly and helpful every time I talk to them. Chris is one of the employees who oversees maintenance and upkeep, he is always prompt and kind hearted. I recommend it 100% over any other apartments I looked at in the area.
Nothing but good things to say about living here! Starting off with my amazing experience dealing with the leasing office, Sarah was phenomenal. After telling Sarah about my horrible experience with a previous complex, she made sure that moving into Scottsdale 59 would be a breeze (the way it should be). Before I even applied for the apartment she let me tour it, day of the tour she noted that the carpet needed to be replaced in the bedroom and that some paint touch ups needed to be done. With in the matter of a day she had both of those things done, and even better, she called me to let me know it was taken care. On top of that she made sure that pest control came before I moved in. She took the time to make sure I was being taken care of, and make the apartment perfect for move-in 3 short days after I applied.I love the apartment itself! Super clean place with hard wood floors and gorgeous appliances (including a gas range stove top!!) The biggest perk, knowing I have neighbors but never being able to hear them because the walls aren’t paper thin. The complex also has quite a bit of fun amenities including; a good dog park, cool pool, lots of places to lounge, barbecues all over the complex, package concierge, and an amazing gym.If you’re looking for a fun complex in south Scottsdale with a leasing office/maintenance team that cares, this place hits the jackpot!
Scottsdale 59 has felt like home since the moment I walked through the main entrance towards the end of August 2018!The updates they’ve made to the complex, both inside and out, are absolutely fabulous!I’ve been living here since October 2018, and it has been the best, first apartment I could have asked for, and I’ve already decided to renew my lease! Not to mention, the rent for this area is absolutely incredible: In-unit w/d AND flat-rate utilities AND close proximity to all life’s necessities??Such a lifesaver!Everyone in the leasing office and on the maintenance crew always has a genuinely cheerful mood, makes you feel welcome and remembered, and does their best to find time to simply chat with and/or address any issues for their tenants.I always feel important to them, and pretty much the entire Scottsdale 59 community feels like a giant, extended family!I cannot tell you how strongly I recommend living here!If nothing else, come in, say hello, enjoy a coffee, do a walkthrough, and consider it!We’d love to make more new friends! :D
So far so good. Staff is friendly. The building is quiet. Nice amenities. It’s nice to have utilities included and one bill to pay. Pool is great. Love the grills. Excellent location for us with a stress free commute into Scottsdale and west Mesa.
So far the best experience Ive had, other places dont carry all included ( peace of mind) prices, and reasonable to your needs. 2018Unfortunately we had to move out due to work being so far away. Leland helped us through the whole process and made it really easy and lovely. If we ever get the chance to go back to that area we are surely coming back. 2020
This place is a Gem.Management is so great, nice, and are willing to work with your needs. The people are friendly and it is a very hip crowd. The rent is fantastic for SCOTTSDALE and they charge a base rate for utilities. At this moment it’s a 5 star
I love this apartment complex! They are amazing! Front office is the best and Leland is amazing! Very fast in handling all situations.
I currently live here and I am about to renew the lease, even though the rent has increased, to me it is completely worth it because the apartments are super clean with hard wood floors and stainless steel appliances, including a gas range top!! The best part for me is the quietness and tranquility, knowing I have neighbors but I never hear them because the walls are concrete. I sleep during the day and I dont even hear the landscapers. The amenities are awesome. If you’re looking for a fun complex in south Scottsdale with a leasing office/maintenance team that cares, this place hits the jackpot! They are very friendly and work with you and your needs. The maintenance staff are very friendly and fast. This is the place to come live at.
If it’s Top Notch Customer Service then go to Scottsdale 59 and find for Laurel.. amazing apartments, excellent management. Definitely speaks a lot about the quality of the community.
Many instances of of disrepair. Heating and air are controlled by facility and even when hot during the winter there is no air conditioning and units get hot. There is no way to cross ventilate as only one window in unit unless you keep front door open. They will charge you for normal wear and tear of shoddy prior repairs. As an example, the tub started flaking big chunks of porcelain and prior resurfacing materials. It is very obvious there was a poor quality repair done before me, however they charged me for the prior bad work.
Moved to Scottsdale just about a year ago now and am VERY happy I landed at Scottsdale 59. The apartment is a great value with excellent location, amenities, size and appliances, but thats all stuff you expect. What makes it great is the superb help from the management team, Laurel, Sarah, and Jeana especially, who have always been friendly to me and everyone I know in the complex. Aside from doing their jobs well, they go above and beyond to promote a sense of community for those who wish to take part with events like Easter Egg Hunts and Christmas parties. The community of people is another unsung benefit in that just about every day at the pool you can find someone friendly to share some sun, conversation and a drink with. All I can say is Im happily renewing my lease for another year and look forward to it.PS: Shout outs to Chris and Joe for courteous and efficient maintenance services.
Extremely happy thus far with Scottsdale 59. We have experienced five-star customer service from Jeana, Mark, and Nicole. We have interacted the most with Laurel, who is super great! Every time we were to receive info we received a call and even email follow-through.The location is primo, the renovations are nice. Ive already seen security actually walking the perimeter of the property. The people that live here are friendly and actually want to build community. My boyfriend and I moved here from a very unfortunate situation where we didnt have hot water for 3 months! The grounds are so beautiful! The gym, pool, dog park and dog washing station are top notch! he community amenities are like resort living! My only beef is there isnt ample parking for guests or others who belong to your unit and the parking lots are quite a trek. TSure the actual building structure is older and comes with problems here and there, but that is to be expected. So far, so good for us! Granted we are newbies, but we are so grateful to have come home to Scottsdale 59!
Scottsdale 59 has been a pleasant experience from the beginning. First we can start with the impeccable staff! Gina and the gang have been extremely friendly; everything from simple maintenance requests to grabbing a cup of joe in the leasing center. We understand there have been renovations which was probably the reason behind the free 6 week rent free incentive which was really nice! I’ve seen both the renovated and original and apartments and they are both lovely styles. However the renovations haven’t conflicted with our lifestyle or living situation whatsoever and it is nice living in a place that is becoming increasingly more nice! We have a wonderful fitness center, heated pool with cabanas and a grill area (can’t wait for summer!), dog park, shuffleboard/bean bag area, lighted paths, many private seating areas for school work, relaxing, hosting, or whatever you can think of. I’ve seen the reviews and I strongly believe it does not reflect the community nor the staff. Yes, there has been renovation of the property in which issues may arise but, in order to change something good to great, there’s needs to be change and hard work. Keep up the great job!
Great place to live! Management is awesome. When I first moved in, there were some maintenance issues that took time to be resolved but the management stayed in touch with the tenants every step of the way. My 2 dogs love the dog park! The pool is great and the staff here is very friendly. Solid experience over the last 6 months here.
I moved in September 2011 when it was Sun King Apartments and have had a great experience in all three of the apartments I’ve lived in. Quiet, friendly, great location. Renovations were a little rough but the outcome of what is now Scottsdale 59 has been awesome and Baron Properties has really transformed this place for the better.
DO NOT MOVE HERE!This place is disgusting and extremely unorganized! I informed management of mold I found in the bathroom. What looked like black mold was at the base of the bathtub and on the baseboard behind the toilet. They “cured” it within a few days with bleach and spray painted over it. They called me back telling me that it was 100% taken care of and that it was “only mildew.” The bathtub had a leak behind the faucet which created the mold. The smell of mold in the apartment still penetrates all of my belongings especially on my clothes. Just entering the apartment you’re hit with the horrific smell! Coming back after a few days away, the smell was unbearable. I informed management I wanted to break my lease because of the mold findings. I am NOT willing to risk my health!! This is not what I signed up for, so I refuse to continue living in this environment. The manager Nicole and Laurel were unwilling to help and told me that this would be a break in my lease. That many people break their lease for different reasons, which is why they couldn’t help. Very inconsiderate of them especially being that this was not my fault whatsoever but a result of the old untreatable buildings. If you’re thinking about moving in, think twice. Their repairs take extremely long! I was given 2 different notices about the same issue they needed to repair that never got done. They kept leaving me letters telling me my apartment was missed and that they would get back to fix my electrical breakers. They even lost keys to my apartment and asked me to take time out of my busy schedule so they could make a replica key. I have seen 2 pitbull breed dogs attack a smaller dog in the court yard at 6:50AM. I woke up to screaming and yelling!! Unfortunately I was misled by the incredibly perfect pictures from their website. Don’t make the same mistake I did. Save yourself the stress and regret.
Im not one for reviews normally but this place really deserves 5 stars. I moved from CT to here and did everything online! The transition was a breeze and the office was quick to respond to any concerns I had.The maintenance management does an awesome job! Any work that needed to be done was done in a matter of a day. Adam from maintenace deserves a medal! I accidentally threw important paperwork in the trash and they were able to retrieve it for me! Pretty sure thats not part of his work description and he didnt need to do that but did it anyways. The apartment is in a good location and central to everything. 15 minutes from airport, 7 minutes from downtown. I live in a studio with utilities all included at a affordable price. Two things I wish the complex had was a pool with a key so no one but the residents can enter! & a gate with a code to get into the facility. Im sure it will happen eventually :) Thank you for the whole team you guys do an awesome job!- Carol From building A
New Update 5/2017. Something wrong going with this apartment owner. I have already paid this month which is the last month for me in this freaking apartment and they just sent me a mail says that I did not pay my rent and they will send it to the court! On my lease I had to pay first and last month and they know that. They are really weird people. I dont know why people would keep renting here!!!---------Please read all the comment. There is a new UPDATE!!!!!If you like work noises every morning at 8:00 AM come here. Im tired, Im moving, my little daughter is getting sick because of that work machines noise every morning. I called them asking them to start work at least at 10:00 AM, but they didnt accept that. Its been three month and we listen to that amazing noise every morning!!!!UPDATE: MARCH 14 2017. Theyve been start working morning about 7:00 clock these days. Im in love with this noise every morning. I cant live without that anymore. I paid 25$ for gym and they closed it before even I use it!! My lease started on Dec 2 2016 and then they closed the pool, so I havent used the pool yet and my lease is ending on June 1st. They told me they want to add more 95$ on the rent started from June 1st. Which is the total going to be 775+95 = 870$ for a very small 1 bedroom with noise doors and crabby paint, and dirty bathroom Its not remodeled. Im so unsatisfied with that, and I am sure that all new good comments you see here are from management. Good luck for them and good luck for everyone who is going to live or move here.
Full of roaches, especially building F. Leland and the rest of the management here will nickel and dime you out of everything, and have 0 issues with taking advantage of a pandemic for a quick buck
Had to find a place to live on 2 days. After being transferred from out of state. Glad i was able to find Scottsdale 59.The staff is great very welcoming. So happy living here i signed another lease.
For the money and location, its decent. Ive never had a bad experience with the office staff. When Ive encountered a problem, theyve always taken care of it. If you want better amenities, be prepared to pay more.
I moved in just about two months ago and have had a great experience so far. While there was some renovation taking place and upgrading throughout, it has been non-invasive and the staff has taken care of any concerns graciously. I would like to recognize their incredible maintenance staff, in particular Sergio, as he came in for a variety of requests such as the garbage disposal, low sink water pressure, shower head change, and thermostat and managed to fix all issues in less than 15 minutes! In addition, the leasing staff has been the best part: friendly, courteous, and professional. Despite the renovations I have not failed to see one or more of the staff members out and about working hard and long to make sure they are on top of everything. The property itself is pleasant and beautiful. At first glance you feel as though you are staying at a hotel but once you reach the central courtyard you are presented with a stunning and well manicured pool and recreational area. The state of the art cabanas, full range grill, fire pit, tanning beds and heated pools make you feel as if you are on a resort vacation. As a regular gym goer and fanatic, that was one of the main selling points for me. The gym is modern and is equipped with a range of treadmills, stairclimber/elliptical, cable machines, free weights, leg press, rowing machine and others in a nice wide setup for ample room and comfort. To top it off they have aggregated an additional yoga/studio room full with stationary cycling bikes, TRX bands, Pull-up bars and is perfect for group workouts or private sessions. I use this almost daily! For the pet owner the property has installed a large range dog park full with a gated fence, doggy disposal stations, and a state of the art dog bath. Corn hole and shuffle board stations, plenty of lounging, private and secure mail room, beautiful landscape and so many other amenities is what has made Scottsdale 59 a great place to live.
My boyfriend and I moved into these apartments 3 months ago with the help of Jeana. She was very welcoming, knowledgeable and genuine, along with the rest of the staff/maintenance, especially Joe, he’s head maintenance. He’s very kind, and is always willing to help if there is a problem. The apartment itself is in the middle of renovations and they’re looking great. They’re very respectful when it comes to working, they never start working until after 9 AM. The location is the best thing about the complex, just five minutes from Old Town Scottsdale & Papago Park, Fry’s is walking distance along with a few other restaurants around. The community is great, and with a big age gap it can be hard to be friends with your neighbors, fortunately we are in a great building (Building E) we often have weekly dinners with the whole block, we have pool parties, bbqs and outings at different restaurants. This complex has given me some of my best memories and friends. I’m so thankful for Jeana and Scottsdale59. I highly recommend signing a lease before is too late, with the renovations, apartment parties and friendly staff, there’s no reason why to look anywhere else. Thank you Scottsdale59!
I moved in my apartment in 1987 and have experienced many changes in all phases. Everything from numerous rent increases, change in management and leasing agents, ownership changes and various upgrades along the way. Once again the property has ownership change, brand change and extensive property upgrades and overall renovation from top to bottom. With all the various crews working on the property doing various jobs I have nothing but good comments on the friendliness, consideration and willingness to be as considerate of the residents while this process goes on. I am anxious to see the finished product when this is all completed. There is always inconvenience when this type of renovation goes on while people still live on the property, but everyone Ive come in contact with is doing their part to make this transition as comfortable for everyone. I am and have always called my place not my apartment, but my HOME and look forward to continual peace, joy and happiness in calling SCOTTSDALE 59 my HOME!
We needed a place quick and they made it easy to get in. However, when we had some good fortune and were able to get out we found out that we were locked in for an additional month on top of the lease. We tried to negotiate a payment plan to pay them for the extra month that they had in the contract and were told that they were sending us to collections. Very disappointed in theyre actions. Id like to rate them on a sliding scale going from decent to bad based on my experience. Ill give them its ok but at this point thats a stretch. Be careful.
We just moved in about three months ago and have had a great experience so far.Incredible maintenance team taking care of any issue.the leasing office management and staff are so friendly and professional. The very pleasant amenities beautiful pool and recreational area and full range grill, Well equipped gym with a full range of new equipments. For the pet owner the property has a large dog park with a gated fence, doggy disposal stations and a dog bath,
Moved in the beginning of July after the leasing office worked with me to find solutions to some of my concerns. Since I have moved in there have been MANY regrets. Getting the items on my move in checklist fixed took weeks. After the first initial repair of some of those items, 3 items continued to be non-functional and I am still trying to get some items repaired. The kicker is when our gas went out on Sunday, September 17th. For 3 days we did not have gas OR hot water. Everyday they told us it would be fixed. We had our hot water returned after 3 days but continue to have absolutely no gas. For a while they offered pizza or sub sandwiches at night, but that was only for 3 nights. We have been offered no compensation or timeline of when this will be fixed. Saturday night we received a text and email saying that we should probably go out and buy a hot plate or other form of cookware because they know it will be SEVERAL more days till we have gas back. Oh but they did say they would kindly reimburse us for the cookware we have to purchase and deduct from next months rent. Golly gee! Reimbursement to buy something that I only need- because you cant get our gas fixed. The fact that they have not put their tenants first and done the right thing by offering some sort of compensation is inexcusable. DO NOT RENT FROM HERE. I am less than 3 months in and locked in for a while. Dont make the same mistake.
I love Sun King Apartments, a friend of mine just rented an apartment at Sun King. The Apartment is clean and roomy with zero issues. The staff in the front office were helpful in his moving in process. If I was not locked in my lease I would move also to Sun King
I’ve Only been living here for 6 months and I’m already seeing lots of bugs it’s horrible! Especially when you have children there’s termites, ants, spiders and don’t forget the mosquitos.. maintenance also takes to long or even forget to get something done for your apartment I wouldn’t recommend anyone to live here for 1,400$ a month plus bugs!
I love this place. Everyone is so helpful and welcoming!!
Scottsdale 59 Property Management: You’re as useless as the ‘ueue’ in ‘queue’Never in my life, have I seen a Property Management team know less about their own property. The invalids in charge of Scottsdale 59, employed by Baron Properties, could care less about the property and care even less about the residents. I work in property management, myself, and know what all goes into the day to day. It’s not a difficult job, you only have to CARE ABOUT PEOPLE! I managed a 3300 SF home portfolio and even with all the work that goes with it, I still managed to care about my residents. You would think the PM team would have some clue about the property; I see them doing tours for prospective tenants all the time. Yet, somehow, the PM team is unaware of when the sprinklers go off, how many times they go off throughout the day, and that the sprinklers are FLOODING the property. I went into the leasing office over 2 weeks ago to voice my concerns and I was told by the PM team that they had no control over the sprinklers since the landscapers control the schedule. Aren’t the landscapers (either vendor or in house) employed by Baron Properties? You are paying them, so either way you should know how much water they use/the schedule/ etc. regardless of who “controls the schedule”. The fault lies within the PM team. 2 weeks went by and the property is still a swamp. I went to the leasing office yesterday 11/14/2018, to again voice my concerns since NOTHING was done with the first complaint. Sprinklers have even gone off and hit people in the face because of the lack of communication from the PM team about sprinklers. Scottsdale 59 advertises as dog friendly by having a dog park, when in reality, it should be advertised as a SWAMPpark. But as mentioned before, the PM team is completely unaware. My furniture and floors in my apartment have mud stains that I shouldn’t be held responsible for. I can only do so much when the property gets more and more saturated with water as each day passes. When I visited the office 11/14 to follow up from the first complaint, I was practically pushed out the door by the gentleman in charge. He could clearly care less due to the time that I arrived at the office. I walked in at 5:50pm, knowing that the office closed at 6, but hoping this matter would come to a solution. As a property manager myself, even though I have office hours, if a resident comes into my office, I am on the clock until they leave. IT’S CALLED CUSTOMER SERVICE. As he was forcing me and 2 other residents to leave, he made a snide comment on how “he needed to close since it’s 6. Keep in mind, it was still 5:55pm. I have never been treated with such disrespect from a Property Manager. Perhaps a training moment is in order? If corporate was smart, they’d fire everyone there and start over with quality people. It is now Friday 11/16 and the park is still flooded/swamplike, the sprinklers still go off in such excess and inconvenient times, and the PM team in the leasing office is completely clueless. Because of the complete lack of heart from this PM team, I will not be renewing my lease, and I will point everyone I know in another direction. I wouldn’t even recommend this complex to my enemies! Everyone deserves to be treated with respect and this team does not treat their residents with respect. That is why I will not renew, will never recommend, and once I move out, if I am charged for “damages” from the mud stains, you will be hearing from my lawyer. If I am charged for “damaging Scottsdale 59 property” I expect to be compensated for the PM team damaging my property. Scottsdale may be the most livable city, but Scottsdale 59 is NOT the most livable apartment.
I moved into Scottsdale 59 in July after finishing up 7 years in the Army. I wasn’t going to leave a review due to the fact that most reviews summed up the majority of the issues but I don’t want anyone to go through what I did. On move in day we were told that the dryers werent going to be up and running for another 6 weeks. After being deployed in Afghanistan 6 weeks without a dryer is nothing, but this wasn’t 6 weeks, this ended up being 5 months. A couple months after we moved in there was a gas leak so we were unable to use our oven and stove for more than 2 weeks. I was really displeased that the apartment complex didn’t take any money off the rent or credit us for next months rent as I had a lot of groceries go bad. Another common occurrence here at Scottsdale 59 is the water is constantly being shut off, whether it’s the hot water, or the water all together. You never really know here. In the winter months the apartment complex turns off the air conditioning which makes the apartments very warm. With fans blowing and windows open the coolest I can get my apartment is to 78 degrees, making it very hard to sleep. My advice to you is to do your research, your problems won’t be taken care of here.
Update: DO. NOT. RENT. HERE.... unless you want hell.... absolute living hell. This property is getting so many additions&upgrades theyre forgetting the fact that the entire buildings on property are filled with mold, cockroaches & bed bugs.We are extremely clean people and due to whatever reason we have been infested with bugs. We have had to clear our cabinents, pull all our furniture out, take our pets out of the home during normal people work hours to have our house bombed for bugs... twice. Might as well keep our stuff in our packing boxes! They moved the office to an upstairs unit so anyone with a disability cant walk up them. Walkways are extremely uneven and dangerous. Theyre lucky I didnt sue them for the time my mom was visiting us and her walker got stuck in a brick walkway that has been addressed to the office more than 5 times through emails, vocal conversations over the phone and in person. Not to mention the fact that they shut your water &AC off at least once a week for 8+ hours a day.. their notices to do that are the night prior 5pm or later and a piece of paper attached to our doors.Last week they forgot to turn the hot water back on and it was off for almost a full 14 hours. They do not care about the tenets living here now. They care about updating, updating and updating. People working on putting new roofs at 7am, no parking spots available due to all the workers and not to mention the workers destroying you belongings on your patios!Extremely fed up and cannot believe that the i humane manor we have received as FULL PRICED tenants. Cant imagine when someone moves into our place after we move and pay almost double!Stay away from this property... it may look nice in the long run but the mold, bugs and horrible customer service will hopefully steer you far away.Over a year ago...Been having a really hard time the past couple of months living here...Been a resident for the last two years and since they have gotten rid of all their old employees that knew how to run the complex and hiring cheap labor as a easy route has resulted in nothing getting done in a timely manner. If you like your AC unit to be turned off or at less than 30% power (according to the new maintenance workers) than this is the place for you. Our water was shut off without noticed multiple times in the last couple months, our longest shut off was for TWELVE straight hours. Our fitness room we all have paid for to use is in construction and has been for multiple months with no foreseeing it open any time soon...our pool isnt on half the time as well as many other annoyances around this complex that used to be fixed quickly...for the money we spend here you would think we would be taken care of but unfortunately isnt the case. Such a disgrace because I really enjoyed the complex in the beginning...normally I do not write ANY reviews about anything online but honestly have been so fed up by the poor mistreatment all the residents have gone through here...If you are looking for a place buyer beware:(
Ive lived here for 4 1/2 years and just renewed. Like any apartment complex, it has its good and bad points.NOTE: In early 2017, Scottsdale 59 (formerly known as Sun King) was purchased by Baron Property Management and underwent major renovations to both the public and private areas. Any reviews prior to mid-2017 (or any that use the name Sun King) will likely not reflect the current state of the complex. The Good:1) The location: Within easy driving distance of the Scottsdale Fashion Square, Old Town Scottsdale to the east, and the freeways and the big strip mall at 44th and Thomas to the west. A (smallish) Frys grocery store is literally a block away, a full-service Albertsons and Safeway are short drives away, and a pretty good breakfast place is at 56th and Thomas.2) The staff: Im always greeted with a smile and theyve proven helpful and understanding. No complaints.3) The brick-and-concrete construction: 90% of the time, I literally have no idea whether my neighbors are even home, let alone what theyre watching on TV or arguing about. You just plain dont hear much through those thick walls.4) The flooring, sinks, countertops, cabinets and appliances are all brand new. The included washer-dryer units are kind of shoehorned in (ours is in the bedroom), but are brand new, fairly quiet and eliminate co$tly laundromat trips. The Bad:1) There is a shortage of covered parking. You get exactly one covered spot per apartment with NO exceptions. Having said that, youre free to park in any uncovered, unmarked spot and there are more than enough of those for everyone. Youll have to walk a little farther but the exercise is good for you.2) Air conditioning is supplied by old-fashioned chiller units that are turned off during the winter months. Given how warm Arizona can get even in December and January, this can be inconvenient (but certainly not a deal-killer). When the A/C units are on during the majority of the year, the apartments can be kept at a nice, frosty upper-60s.3) Satellite dishes are generally not allowed. With all the cord-cutting options available now, I cant say it bothers me.Summary: If youre looking for an apartment complex in Scottsdale with a GREAT location, decent rates, and concrete walls (I cannot overstate how nice those are), you could do a lot worse.
Where do I even begin! I have been a resident of Scottsdale 59/Sun King for over 7 years, in all my years of renting, I have never experienced such heartless, rude, and inconsiderate group of people as I have with Scottsdale 59. Approximately a year ago Barron properties decided buy the property from CRS and start renovating while the tenants have to suffer through the MAJOR construction. We have had to deal with companys coming in and cutting down trees, Painting of the exterior multiple times because they keep changing their color choice. We have had Roofers starting work as early as 5:45 a.m. pounding on the roof so hard it knocked the Air conditioning lose in the ceiling, All kinds of plumbing issues which was resulting in having our water shut of every other day. We have had to deal with plumbers entering our apartment with very little notice to physically cut holes in the walls to prep. for a washer and dryer for future residents. The workers that they hire are very rude, they will leave trash all over the grounds as well as your back patio. The electricity has gone out on multiple occasions, I once went almost 24 hours with no electricity. When I speak to the office management all I ever hear is Thank you for your patience well I am not patient anymore, I have asked to be let out of my lease only to be told NO! I have to pay full price rent yet a majority of the amenities that I once was reviving are now gone so that they can renovate for new future residents. While I am on the topic of not receiving amenities, I just recently went 40+ days with out gas this would not be so bad except for the fact that the stoves in the apartments are natural gas, So 40+ days without the ability to cook in my apartment! I have 2 children and having to eat out every night has cost me more than what I am paying in rent. The office handed out a two burner hot plate as their way compensating the tenants affected by no gas. The hot plate wont even boil water, let alone give me the ability to cook for a family of 4.The past year of living here has been the worst experience of my life, these people came in and have literally ruined peoples lives! People that have just moved in have said this was the worst decision they have ever made, some have even paid to have their lease broken. When this property was Sun King apartments, it may not have been modern and new but at least I was receiving all that I was paying for and wasnt concerned about my water, gas, and electric getting shut off every other day, or construction workers needing to gain access to my apartment. It was quit and peaceful. With in the last six months the property management has changed four times, that should give you an idea of how horrible this place has become to live in.I do not normally write reviews on anything, but I would hate to see someone have to go through what my family and I have had to go through.
I love the staff here they remember you by name and everything its honestly such an amazing experience!
DO NOT MOVE IN!!! Ive had so many problems here since Ive moved in. The A/C leaks and leaves puddles theyve tried fixing it like 6 times, it rained one day and 18 apartments got flooded, the power outlets dont work sometimes, and to top it all off the gas hasnt worked for a month now because of a pipe breaking. They towed my car by accident and refused to pay my towing fee. Im tired of this place and wouldnt recommend this place to anyone because they refuse to take responsibility for anything
It was ok didnt like the fact that the price of my rent jumped from the agreed upon 10% of my rent (which was $67.50 extra for month to month out of $675.00 with utilities includedwhich was in my signed lease) to $150 extra for month to month plus an extra $85 for utilities which mind you was once included again a jump from $67.50 a month to $235 a month for month to month totaling $915 was a bit much for a studio, which wasnt what my lease called for..I cant renig on any of the terms of my lease so they shouldnt have been able to either..otherwise it was decent..if the price wasnt to harsh Id rent again...maybe! 2 1/2 stars.
Best apartment Ive rented so far, washer and dryer are available inside the apartment, very professional staff and clean áreas
I love it here wish i didnt have to move
We moved in a couple months ago and it was amazing. Had bunches of trees to remind me of my home and everyone was so friendly. A month after we signed a year lease they were bought out and everything has gone to hell. All my trees got cut down they destroyed my tennis court which is right by my front door thats from 8am till 6pm! LOUD NOISES ALL DAYY. Also our apartment was getting to 90°, they wouldnt turnt he ac on so we bought a little ac unit to try and keep us cooler, id been having a 102 fever, we got a note saying it violated out lease, which we looked over and over before we bought it, if we dont remove it we will be evicted. And now we get a 5 days notice that everything from the apartment and pets need to be gone on Wednesday for a pest elimination and if we refuse, its 150$. The staff if so nice and amazing but I have no idea what the owners are doing. This is ridiculous.
My friend new place is very nice .. Loved it!
Constantly have to verify my belongings are still in the apartment because they enter our apartment with short to no notice. Shutting the water and ac unit off for renovations is tolerable but having maintenance touch my clothes and moving my belongings is unacceptable.
The place is falling down around my ears....The plumbing is bad, the maintenence crew has no idea about fix even the little things that need fixing, and yet theyve raised the rent twice in 6 months....The owners are remodeling but its just a cover up... Like new paint and flooring but they havent fixed real problems that plague the place...I would not move to place!!!!!
Been here 6yrs had to move. The owners son is making landscape priority and raising rent to cover his rear. Rent is dumb.
This place has lots an lots of bed bugs an roof rats.
