As I was looking for apartments in Scottsdale, I came across this location and it was everything I was looking for. The leasing agency was very accommodating & made the process very smooth & made me feel at home. Their amenities are top notch & the community was a good vibe. Even though I didn’t end up leasing at this complex due to moving dates, I would recommend it to people who are looking for a great location with luxury amenities!
After living here for almost 6 months, I can say that this is by far my favorite community Ive ever lived. The property is beautiful. The location is perfect. And there is even a private dog park for my dog to run around in! Maintenance team is very responsive with very fast turn around times. The leasing team & management is exceptional and will go out of their way to help in any way they can. 5 stars all around!
The maintenance and cleaning team must have been updated after reading the older reviews, we moved in a month ago and so far it’s been great! Our maintenance guy Joel was super friendly and very responsive! The cleaning team is always out in the mornings, the dog park is huge and we love the pool.
I like the place it has a good location to the fashion square and old town Scottsdale. Community is pretty nice here. Our maintenance requests have been taken care of in a very prompt manner which has been great as I have had problems with requests in other apartments I have lived in. The one gentleman Joel always seems to be in a positive mood and happy to help. Overall it’s a good spot to live.
After paying the $250 application fee and going through the loops to dispute an incorrect background check; they don’t even have the decency to reply to me by a simple email. I’ve emailed multiple times Over the past two weeks and have received nothing. A simple no would been appreciated; but just being blatantly ignored after going through the entire application process speaks a lot on the quality of the workers here. For 1800, I found a much larger and equally updated unit down the street; and a place where the workers actually reply to you.
I moved in recently, about 4 months ago. I must say I was surprised at how professional and polite the staff were. I see that new management has recently took over and I can see the commitment she has to improve the property even further. I will say a lot of owners dont pick up the dog feces but at least there properly beautification that does there best to take care of that. Overall I’ve had no issues with management or my apartment. Definitely recommend.
Fantastic location, beautiful apartments and great amenities. Its a 2 min walk to Fashion Square. Community makes repairs and adjustments and listens to their tenants. I would recommend The Moderne and see if it is a good fit for you.
Place is nice and great location. My apartment did have a lot of “cosmetic” issues upon moving in that they aren’t able to fix... so scuffed up floors and burnt walls is something I’m going to have to pay to live with. I can also never get ahold of maintenance. The package room is also always having problems and the front office gives me attitude for no reason with any rare question I have. Would have given 4 stars if the office had better customer service and wasn’t rude ☺️
2 stars. I only say 2 because it deserves a star for its location. But otherwise? 1 star. Let me tell you the MANY reasons why.1. For starters, the garage gate has been broken and wide open to ANYONE for the entirety of my time here at The Moderne (which is almost 9 months now) For a complex that prides themselves on luxury you would think that if I am paying over 2,000 dollars a month in rent, that common things like GATES would operate properly.2. Let’s talk noise. I received a call one day from management (which is shocking in itself to begin with) They were calling to tell me that after countless DAILY noise complaints from people living downstairs (which I had not been aware about) they needed me to essentially move to a smaller apartment in the building (but still pay the 700 dollar fee) OR, they said I had about 30-60 days before I was possibly evicted. What were the noise complaints you ask? Walking. I was walking. Alone. IN MY HOME. But apparently that is not aloud. I do not blame my neighbors for complaining at all, because after finding out that multiple people deal with this issue, I fully blame the people who built the place. Luxury? Funny.3. Maintenance. Im not really sure that this complex knows what that is to be honest with you. When you first move in you are given a checklist of things that need to be repaired. I filled that out with many things wrong with the unit upon moving in. 9 months later....nothing has been fixed. There was one time where it was allegedly being looked at and they tried entering my unit with ZERO notice. Luckily my privacy lock was locked. They never returned after that, after many phone calls and requests. Lights are out all over the complex, and Im pretty sure the hallways NEVER get cleaned. Really unsettling to think about especially during a pandemic.4. Customer Service. Dont even try calling the office because they will NOT answer, nor will they get back to you if you leave a message. If they do, expect it to be at least 3 days later, and for them to talk down to you like you have no idea what youre talking about. I have experienced better customer service from a 24 hour gas station attendant in the middle of nowhere.5. SECURITY! Security is a joke here. The building claims to have security 24/7 however, not once have I seen them. I recently experienced a situation in the complex where I witnessed a very violent situation happen in front of me. I finally called security about 20 minutes later after I searched for a security number for those 20 minutes. Surprise! There isnt one. You have to call the office and wait through a 2 minute voicemail to be connected to an operator who quite honestly, wont do much to help you. God forbid it was a situation where I was actually in serious danger. This wasnt the first time I needed security and didnt get it. Had some rando knocking on my door at 3 am and trying to get in a few months back. Told the office and they did nothing. Scary to be a woman living alone when you feel unsafe in your own home.So basically. Dont live here. 2,000 dollars a month for 1 bedroom?! Go spend 2,000 dollars a month on literally anything else.
I feel like such a Karen for leaving this long review, but I only lived here for 8 weeks and just moved out. Giving 1 star for the location and 1 star for April and Zach in the office being so nice, but theres so many issues at The Moderne that I urge people not to live here.1. 24/7 Security is a joke. Never seen a security guard on the premises. The gates are always broken and open through the night even after they emailed the residents saying they re-did the entire gate system and fixed it. The package room door has been broken since before I moved in (held together by duct tape)--I have had packages stolen and also seen other residents empty packages (the stuff was stolen out of them and the empty boxes left in the package room). The magnetic gates to walk onto the property are never locked. There was an active shooter on the property in the last two months.*When I first tried to get renters insurance I had to get special permission from the company I used to insure The Moderne as there have been so many cases and claims made since it opened ~5 years ago--I called back recently asking if they could share the claims and they told me most were for burglary and personal injury and have already had to pay out in the hundreds of thousands, yikes.2. The gym is very dirty. It looks as though maintenance never regularly cleans the gym--the residents do not because the cleaning wipe canisters are broken and you can never get a wipe out. The equipment has stains on it and are sometimes sticky (gross), theres missing free weights and the mats are so old and gross that they are tearing and provide no actual cushion.3. NOT pet friendly--I believe this property when first built was no pets allowed and they changed it trying to get more residents. Putting two pet waste canisters on the far edges of the property that they never empty does not make it pet friendly. There is no real grass and only two small patches of turf within the property itself that are not cleaned regularly by maintenance. The site map has grass areas that do not actually exist around the entire property. The plant beds have large sharp rocks that arent good for pets to go and make it difficult to pick up pet waste. I have asked other residents where they take their dogs and they say they walk all the way to the surrounding neighborhoods. Also, theres ALWAYS urine in the elevators, hallways and stairwells from pets. Ive put in two service requests to have those areas cleaned, and numerous other residents are too according to some of the other reviews here.4. I have seen other reviews about noise complaints and I got a call on a Monday about a noise complaint regarding a loud party I was having on the previous Saturday. Except I was not at the property that entire weekend nor the previous three weeks. I had already stopped living there and was waiting for my lease term to run out after my notice to vacate. They told me I was in the wrong, described my apartment location to me and then threatened to evict me if I received another complaint. I checked my apartment after that a few times to get mail and before my movers came to fully move me out, and my place had not been broken into by anyone. For paying $2,000/mo for a 1-bedroom apartment, this is NOT worth it. Not one thing about The Moderne has been luxury living. This is the only apartment Ive lived in where I do not feel safe nor are the common areas clean. I used to live at a Mark Taylor property (currently do again) and a maintenance crew came EVERY MORNING at 7-8am to clean the entire property including the pool area, gym and BBQs. Ive only seen crews here once a week and all they do is use leaf blowers in the plant beds and move dead leaves and dirt around and onto residents patios. The pictures online/the leasing office make it look super nice and there are modern looking finishes, but dont be fooled. Like I said, I bought myself out of my lease after only 8 weeks and had already come across all of these problems.
Living here was a great experience but I moved out 6 months ago and they still won’t return my security deposit. Every time I call they either don’t pick up or give me some excuse as to why I still don’t have my money back.
I love living here. Everyone is so nice and the area couldn’t be better! The staff is quick to respond and very timely when you need something fixed.
The office staff have been amazing. Really appreciate Cori and Candice helping to get me settled in. Their cheerful attitudes, professionalism and attentiveness has made moving day a bit less painful. Still painful... but a bit less. :)
If anyone need a good costumer service and someone that will truly try to make you safe and calm at the most important place - which is home, you should talk only with Cori. This girl is amazing, service oriented, and very helpful. I live in the moderne for almost 3 years, and she’s the only one that truly tried to help me and didn’t ignore my requests! Thanks Cori you are so special and kind.
The amenities here are fantastic! Everything is calm and quiet. I couldn’t ask for a better place to be living. Looking forward to renewing my lease!! The staff is great and very helpful, always on top of things and do a great job making everyone feel welcome!Thank you Tyler, Candice, And Cori you guys are amazing!
I have to say it is really hard to leave this place! I just resigned a lease for a second time while my boyfriend has resigned 4 times! It is by far the best place to live if you are interested in luxury apartment living. Candice who works in the leasing office is a joy to work with, she is helpful, friendly, personable, and welcoming! Can not praise her enough!
Lived here for 2 years and loved it. Property and facilities are great and well maintained. Front office is very friendly and always helpful. Location couldnt be better - just a short walk from Fashion Square Mall, Harkins Movie Theater (best seats in town), Old Town, etc. We lived in an exterior 2 bed/2 bath unit which was great, and prior to our 1 year renewal we had looked at a few other comparable apartment complexes and found the rates here are very competitive. Only moved out because we bought a place in same area but would absolutely return in the future. When we did leave, the GM (shoutout Edwin!) and his team couldnt have been more supportive and were very flexible/reasonable throughout the process. No surprises, no hidden fees - this place is truly as great as it looks.
I have never written a review before, but in this instance I felt I had to just to express how bad the Moderne (Scottsdale) is. Do not live in this building, point blank. The staff, with 1 exception (Ashley) are incredibly unhelpful, and need multiple follow up emails to get anything done. The flat slab construction of the apartments means that you can hear everything in the apartments above, below, and to both sides. Everything. The garage door never works, there is 0 recycling for the whole community, and the pictures on their website are far more glamorous than the place itself. If you do find yourself unlucky enough to live there, take pictures of everything upon moving in, because they will charge ludicrous amounts of money for anything. Attached image is a carpet, which they said was beyond repair and needs a $500 replacement. (No one was available to do a walk through before my move out date, so I received this charge 2 weeks after I had left, without any way of defending it.They are claiming a shadows are stains) It is identical to how it was when I moved in. There is no freight elevator, the standard elevators themselves routinely stopped working, and the whole place is in need of a renovation.A/C stopped working at least once a week, and was noisy when it returned. I regret spending any time there, and if you wanted an honest opinion after living there for 3 months, the building next door (not sure the name but looks much cleaner and has lots of trees / plants everywhere) looks much nicer, and I wish I lived there instead.
I looked at the apartment complex remotely and was put in contact with Tyler. He was extremely helpful and responded immediately to the massive amount of questions that I had for him. He went out of his way to make the sure the experience was as smooth as possible (especially since I could not go to the property in person because of Coronavirus). It was a great customer service!
Searching for apartments during the Covid times was a little bit more difficult as places were not touring, offering limited hours, etc. I was very impressed by the Moderne and their staff during this time. Cori was a diligent and a tremendous help to me during my application process all the way up to signing a lease. Im excited to live in a luxury residence right near the heart of Old Town, Scottsdale!
Very professional and polite staff. Cori was amazing and she helped me with all my needs. The property manager Tyler was very helpful when I spoke with him. Quality apartments.
Tyler is the absolute best!!!! Everything from going above and beyond to accommodate our move in date to even coordinating staff to help us lift 100 pound delivery boxes! He is very professional and can actually answer/solve all problems. I am very sad he will have to go back to Dallas - let us hang on to him!! :)
Moved in only 2 months ago but weve had a pretty good experience so far. Maintenance has been prompt and professional, facilities are generally well maintained, and everyone in the community is very friendly as well.Cori did an excellent job of helping us find the right apartment and assisting in the move in process. She has been a delight to work with and is usually my go-to for any questions/concerns. Cori and Rachel have also gone above and beyond to help me track down packages that were lost in the luxer lockers. That said, here are my two gripes:1. The daily leaf blowing. I understand the need to clear out dust and leaves, but a daily cadence seems excessive and unnecessary. Why not once or twice a week? I promise a few leaves on the walkway is a non-issue.2. The luxer locker is almost ALWAYS backed up, which makes the package finding process a nightmare. Itd be nice if management could address this matter by asking the community to be more conscientious about using the luxer lockers as a storage space.
I have been so impressed with community manager Shonna coleman. Extremely kind and caring. She was very professional with my needs . A real human with a welcoming personality. Shonna takes the Moderne to a new level.
Tyler at the Moderne is amazing!! He brings luxury living to the Moderne. He even went out of his way to bring my check to my workplace at Versace. It felt very exclusive and stepped their game up immensely!
I love living here but as long as the neighbours have trained their dogs to not pee in the elevator each time i walk in everything is good (:
Nobody ever answers the phone. We have called multiple times and just get directed to voicemail or a third party agent who doesn’t have accurate information. Even when you go in person, there is usually nobody there. I really don’t understand how this is a consistent thing. No, it’s not just a holiday thing. I been living there for 4 years. This is a consistent thing!
Love living here! Great location. Great amenities. Friendly neighbors! Clean as well!!
Candice is fantastic! She is always helpful, and full of energy. There isn’t a day that I don’t see her where she doesn’t have a smile on her face.
I moved to the Moderne at the end of May 2019 and I LOVE my new home! Beautiful property and units. Not to mention the proximity to great restaurants and shopping! A huge shout out to Carmelo for going above and beyond. I looked at 8 places in 24 hours ( I was moving from CA) and the last place was the Moderne. I wish I had gone there first! Carmelo listened to my preferences and found just the right apartment and location for me. He was amazing during the entire process and still is today. Thank you Carmelo and Moderne Team for making my out of state move way less stressful. You guys rock!
I previously wrote a good review about the moderne because I was solicited to do so in exchange for a deal on my rent. But, in light of recent events I’ve decided to remove that review and share my true experience at the moderne. If you’re considering living at this “luxury” apartment you should take the time to read this. The Moderne is about as luxury as a Nissan Altima with leather seats. Property is never up kept, doors are broken, holes are in the walls, and magnetic locks are constantly not working. Today in fact, I was locked out of the parking garage because the door handle was literally missing and the door couldn’t be opened. Last week, my apartment was illegally entered by management with no notice whatsoever. I was not home and entered my unit later that evening to the belief that someone had broken in to my apartment. Management claims that they did give me a notice. First they said in email, then on my door, then under my door and finally in my door. None of which happened and I was one of dozens of units to not receive this notice. The day before this happened they sent out an email saying that “someone” had covid. For all I know that could have been my neighbor, and maybe they entered my apartment right after theirs with no notice to either of us, putting my safety in jeopardy as well as invading my privacy. Steer clear from the Moderne and JLB properties. No one has called me back and the property manager Shonna huffs and puffs when I call, essentially calling me a liar. I’m sure someone will call me after reading this review, but ask about their occupancy rate and you’ll know that this account is valid. Good luck in your apartment search!
Ricky in Maintenance was great! He called before coming to reconfirm pending service requests and arrived as scheduled. Very professional and corrected all issues . Thumbs up!!
The staff here made me feel very comfortable. Customer service is key and this place exceeds what I expected. Although I did not lease with the complex due to closing on a house.... Brianne made me feel very relaxed and comfortable. Victoria was also amazing making me feel at ease and she made sure I was being taken care of, which I was.I def. recommend this place. It is a really beautiful complex.
Everyone that works here are cool
I posted a 5 star but will now be changing it to a 1!! I ended up not moving in after all. The staff was so friendly at first..... then I brought my sister and niece (bi racial) to view the complex and everything changed. They treated her like she was trash!!! Not a place I want to live at..... Not sure if they hate biracial people or children in general but my niece is a sweet little girl who doesn’t deserve to be treated nasty! It was a few months back so maybe their is new management..... Either way I will never live here!!
JLB properties has chosen to keep Amenities closed despite Governor orders being expired. Other pools have resumed normal use.. Mark Taylor Properties, Camden properties, Scottsdale Grayhawk pools just to name a few. Texas based Management has been extremely unresponsive in this matter and according to their perception they do not have plans to open the pool. Pools are literally Chained closed. With so many options in the valley certainly won’t be choosing JLB properties..
Just moved out after 2 years. Sundy, in charge of leasing, is amazing. She goes above and beyond the duty of getting you to sign a lease. I joked that she was my in-state mom. Great people at the Moderne. Make you really feel at home, with awesome office staff that are looking out for you. Will miss this place.
Sundy was amazing from my 1st visit and through the on-boarding process. The complex is great and I really appreciated how accommodating Sundy was. The grounds and complex are pristine and its proximity to dinning, shopping, grocery and errand running are second to none. I couldn’t have asked for a better leasing experience or apartment. I’m glad to call The Moderne my home!
I dont get calls back and the make you feel like your opinions do not matter
Best place to live in Scottsdale, Carmello was great, he went above and beyond to make sure everything went smoothly and my home is perfect. Endless upgrades and wall to wall amenities. Very luxurious and affordable.
The woman in the office is just rude! I understand I showed up only 45 minutes to closing, but I deserve respect! I will take my business elsewhere..... Over priced and you have to use a key fob to access the elevator and you have to use it to go to every single floor! This is a huge hassle whenever I have delivery and I have to go to the front of the building just to pick up food ??? For those two reasons (Plus many others) this place is absolutely awful and I will be renting elsewhere. Hire nicer people!
A few friends live here and have convinced me to move here. Hopefully the staff is as nice as every says! :) Looking forward to signing a lease
Pet friendly. But not safe for pets.My dog was attacked and a chunk taken out of my dogs head the first week.❌Aggressive dogs off leash.❌ Feces all over the property.Management does not uphold any of the Pet rules.
Ive been to apartments all over the valley and The Modern are rt at the top, Sunday Johnson was a pleasure to work with.
This place is amazing! My experience was nothing but positive. The best part of it all was my leasing agent, Sundy. Not only did she make the leasing process an absolute pleasure, but she was with me throughout my entire lease for any questions I had. She was so great that I would purposely wait until I knew she was working to ask for anything. If you are considering this apartment, ask for Sundy!
The gate to enter the parking garage has been broken for over a month. When there are only two entrances to the basement garage it is a big inconvenience to not have one working. It is unbelievable that it would take a month to fix a gate, but it has and still isn’t fixed. This is something that should be fixed or replaced in a few days. They must not care or have no clue how to run a property.
Old Town living at its best! Ive rented at The Moderne for over a year and love it here. Everything is top notch and brand new. Management always goes above and beyond to take care of the residents. The amenities are excellent and the proximity to shopping, dining, nightlife, hiking (Camelback - Cholla Trail) is all within walking distance. Dont look anywhere else!
This place is as loud as a college frat house. If you choose to live here be prepared to live with noise above or next to you, management staff that do not enforce rules or change rules on you in mid-lease, and sub-par appliances. The apartments may look nice, but I have had maintenance replace my thermostat 3 times, replace the faucet, my hot water heater broke, and my dishwasher always leaves my glasses dirty. The dog owners seem to allow their dogs to poop everywhere. The summer is much worse when the stench come across when you walk outside. Then the staff doesnt really enforce the rules on where dogs can do their business. They will also change your rent payment options in mid-lease on you. If I could get out of my lease I would be leaving. Not worth the money for the sub-par accommodations and noisy neighbors. It take a lot more than casino night to make a place worth while for rent.
The service is bad every time i put a service request it takes 5 days to be done after i have to call multiple times! feel like i begging them to fix stuff !...
A little more expensive than most, but you get what you pay for. Well appointed, professional, responsive, clean. Its an awesome walking location to Old Town with a great youthful, but respectful, vibe. Our unit was virtually brand new. We had a few minor maintenance issues when we moved in and the team was there in minutes to fix and make it perfect. Great pool area with grills, firepits and new putting green! Almost regret buying a house and having to move out in a couple months. Highly recommended. Tip: do a unit with a garage or a 4th floor unit as we got a 3rd floor unit and sometimes hear neighbors above with heavy footsteps. Not a huge deal, but noticeable sometimes.FWIW, havent had the experience Douglas mentions below as all the people we have met love it here.
Carmelo is by far the worst office staff this place has ever been graced with. Thank god he is a temp. I would not live here so long as he is working there.
I have been a resident for almost 2 years now and could not be more excited for my lease to run out. This building would be better managed by MONKEYS. So incredibly disorganized, Beyond unprofessional staff. Its a joke. EDWIN is incompetent in his position and does not know how to run a facility. VICTORIA is even more incompetent in her position as this is literally her first job like ever. Dont trust these people.I have I have had my rent checks withheld for over 2-3 weeks before depositing the funds at least 6 times. I have had my rent checks LOST by the staff. I pay nearly 2000 for a 1br. 2000 dollars is a lot of money for you to just lose.I received a notice saying I owed late fees on the check they lost. Upon inquiring about the matter, they showed me a copy of the check I had given them but told me that couldn’t find the original check. I was told I need to manage my money better even though they were the ones who lost the check?!DO NOT LIVE HERE. RUN FAR FAR FAR AWAY.
Great front desk staff and excellent location. I just moved in and I love it.
I attended Casino night last week and it was a blast! Wonderful event, amazing staff beautiful luxury apartments!
Great front staff! Very accommodating and pleasant
