Coach Jay has been a key pillar of my physical fitness before & since COVID Stay-at-home.Ive been with OPEX Fitness since August 2019 and Ive gotten so much stronger (measurable muscle gain) and more skilled in the moves I want to achieve (e.g., handstands, box jumps). Ive even come to enjoy doing burpees for fun for sometimes and I look forward to waking up to see my program every day.When COVID Stay-at-home orders hit LA in March, Coach Jay was immediately able to convert my program to work out from home (with minimal equipment) and Ive been doing that for 5 months so far. I havent missed a day of fitness and Ive even hit some of my fitness milestones during quarantine thanks to Jay. Physical fitness and movement is such a big part of my overall health during these COVID times. If I were with a big chain gym, I would not have gotten the support I needed to pivot to at-home fitness. I would not hesitate to recommend OPEX and Coach Jay to anyone who is serious about movement and fitness for health.
Opex has been such a positive influence in my life in the past year.Before COVID, when I was still travelling for work and leisure, I was able to work out just as much as when I was at home, with personalized WODS, using whatever equipment I had available to me. During COVID, my coach again kept us in track, by programming at-home workouts, still coaching remotely and providing feedback. His motivation and accountability were key to making gains while staying at home: I got my Double Unders during lockdown! I felt guided and supported during those months.OPEX has transformed my way of looking at exercising from a chore to an enjoyable part of the day. When you know that a workout was programmed just for you, there’s no anxiety or guessing if I will be able to it or not. Since I have a say in what my goals are and every workout feels relevant and necessary: I look forward to getting better at the things that are important to me. I can now snatch, do wall walks, push ups, double unders, and Im working on progressions for my next goals: handstands, pistols and pull ups.The OPEX philosophy of working out as a way of bettering yourself and being fitter to support all the other aspects of your life really clicked with me: everyday movements like picking up my bike/ groceries/luggage and carrying it a couple of floors up, hiking, are now a breeze. I can’t wait to see what gains I make in the next 12 months.
