Very nice waiting room! We came here for our Smog Test. We did not have an appointment this morning and took a chance this Saturday morning. It was easy! They took our car immediately and said she could wait in their nice waiting room!

Ive never been so happy with a service that is normally seen as mundane, confusing, or frustrating. Santa Monica Motors and team helped me with everything I needed for my car.First and foremost, I was greeted with the warmest hello. They were so helpful, open, and honest through my visit there.Through casually talking, they told me they also did vehicle registration there (I was moving from Texas to California, and was still confused with what all had to be done, in what order, etc.). Not only did they saved me from having to go to the DMV again (5 stars right there), but they explained the entire process from beginning to end, and made the transfer so easy. They even changed my plates for me.I cant thank them and recommend them enough!

While making an appointment over the phone, service was incredibly helpful and prompt. Brought my vehicle in and my quote was very fair, they beat my dealer by $100+ and my work was done in 24hrs!Would highly recommend

I made an appointment well in advance specifying that I needed a vin verification and title transfer. Upon arriving they informed me that I not only could not do my VIN verification but could not do the title transfer without the verification. They were not apologetic and it was a very frustrating waste of time. They also have not taken down the sign claiming they provide verification. Will not be returning.

A neighborhood staple and the only place I go to for my annual smog check and maintenance on my truck. They are always professional, courteous, knowledgeable and go above and beyond in contacting you to explain the issue to ensure you’re comfortable with any work that needs to be performed before it’s done. Each experience is white glove service without the exorbitant cost.

I was looking for alternative to Dealer for servicing and realized my favorite Smog Check place also does regular car maintenance and servicing. (Also a neighbor recommended them.)Made an appointment for Oil Change and Inspection. Good updates. Don texted a list of recommended repairs (with pics of my dirty filters and brakes) and I called to confirm the work.Now, car runs great. Happy Customer. I will return.

My experience started with a call. The person who answered the phone was professional and provided me with more than enough information so I was prepared for my visit. The gentleman that met me upon arrival was courteous, assuring, and thorough. They usually suggest you carve out 30-mins for the smog check, but my car was done within 10 minutes. The cashier that processed my payment was efficient. All in all a great experience and I will certainly be back in the future!

This is a great place to do smog certification. I have used them before. It is a great place to do smog certification during the pandemic. Lots of thought went in to how they handle you and your car with the minimum risk of exposure. On top of that, the process was fast. I highly recommend Santa Monica Motors.

I drove in without an appointment, and was promptly met at my car and told I would be able to be in and out within 30 minutes. I went to pay, was offered a very comfortable indoor seat as it was cold and windy, was honored with a discount, and was out the door in about 20 minutes. A great service; a great experience.

I went here for my smog test, everyone was professional and polite. I was greeted right away pulled into a spot, my information was entered into a iPad, I then waited in a nice area outside under an umbrella. The service was super quick, got a text when it was done, went inside paid and was out of there. They even have a 10 dollar coupon online that I used towards my service. I would go back again.

I am so glad I found this place! Amongst other things my air conditioner wasn’t working and I didn’t want to spend a fortune on these fixes. I called beforehand and they were super helpful. Went in for my appointment and I was relieved that everyone was wearing a mask and there was contactless check-in. They did a great job and it was in my budget! Definitely going back here for any car problems, wishing I would have found them earlier!!!

My experience with SMM this past week was 5 star service! I have an old car (2001 Ford Focus zx3) that I want to keep running as long as possible. It’s had an incredibly annoying vibration (the whole car vibrated) for years. I’ve taken it to several mechanics who said “oh it might be this or that” with no concrete solutions. Finally the vibration got bad enough that I decided to pay the $ to have it fixed. SMM diagnosed it very quickly and sent text messages with pictures, descriptions and a quote within a day of me dropping off “ol’ blue”. My car was fixed within two days and drives like it’s brand new!The lobby is also very nice and the employees at the desk professional and polite. Ray was very nice and helpful at explaining the process. I feel the prices were fair. I will always bring my cars to SMM from now on.

Ive been coming to this place for over 10 years for our 3 cars (my own, my wifes and my sons), most of the services were for smog certificates, several times were to fix engine oil leaks, replacing starter and oil changes. Overall, the staffs and owner are very professional, honest and knowledgeable which gave me great confidence with their work.

I’ve always had a positive experience here - they’re extremely helpful in explaining the details of the service and have quoted me lower than what I’ve been quoted at a Nissan dealership (I have a Nissan). They almost always get the work done same day or next day, and have easy interfaces to provide quotes/updates to the service and they text you when you’re cars ready. In general, the staff are always so helpful and friendly. I definitely feel like I can trust Santa Monica Motors with my car. Highly recommend

Ive been getting my smog tests done here from several years. Always great, thats why I keep going back. This visit was same as always: fast, efficient service. A nice touch was the $10 emailed coupon I received. I made an appointment but didnt really need it. Fortunately, there were no other customers there when I arrived, so I got in and out very quickly. Service was friendly and helpful. Ill go back next year for the smog check of our other car.

My experience at Santa Monica Motors was disappointing only in regard to the price. I am still struggling to understand the amount of money paid for the services rendered, and this may cause me to look elsewhere for future needs. However, in every other way my experience here was efficient and professional. I especially appreciated the efforts they were taking to make customers feel safe regarding the pandemic; at one point a gentleman wiped down something he had handled with sanitizer before handing it back to me. If price were no object, I would certainly return.

I first tried out John and Eduardos shop after the local Lexus dealer told me I needed to do $5000 of work on my out-of-warranty car. They quoted me a price of around $2500 for the same work and did a fine job. Since then theyve proven that they are trustworthy and do quality work. I happily recommend them.

Santa Monica Motors provides a safe, friendly and excellent “contactless” smog check experience. Masks are worn, distances are kept, and there’s even an option to pay via text without ever stepping foot inside. This place is a total scam. I went in for a smog test and they failed even though emissions were clean. There was a piece of tape on the air duct and they failed the test...so that I could go to a buddy of theirs for expensive repairs and then come back for a re-test. They had the nerve to call me and suggest a completely different error than in the printed report.

I wanted to share a most pleasant experience at Santa Monica Motors yesterday. I needed a smog check and the gentleman who first assisted me was there, just as I pulled in the parking lot. In pre-covid days, there was a room to wait in with free coffee, etc, but those days are gone. Not their fault. Besides, it was a warm day, so being outside, under a big umbrella was no big deal. In fact, the smog check was completed before I had a chance to check all my emails on my phone! The gentleman brought me inside, where I paid Bob, the really nice owner who has been there for years. Everything couldnt have taken more than fifteen minutes. I highly recommend SM Motors when you need your next smog check.

Ive been a customer of theirs for several years, and they have always taken good care of me and my cars. There have been two separate recent instances where I have had to show up unannounced, and they have managed to fit me into their busy schedule and have service completed in the same day. They are honest, dependable, and responsive, and I highly recommend them.

Excellent service! Highly recommend. I stumbled upon this place for a smog check - they took me in right away, I was in and out in 15 minutes. The only problem with the speed was that I was having such a delightful conversation with Bob and would have gladly waited longer to chat with him more :) ! It’s a bit pricey at $69.95 but there was a $10 off coupon they told me about so it wasnt as bad and I prefer to support small local businesses. Definitely check them out and make sure to say hi to Bob!

Great experience. Second time going here for smog test. The guy knew who I was before I even told him why I was there. Girl on the desk was extremely friendly and helpful. Expected it to take longer than usual as it was midday when I dropped off the car. Took all of 15 minutes. Would definitely recommend. Very happy customer :)

They may not be the cheapest game in town, but they are very professional and I’ve had only good experiences. So, it appears those extra $$ are going toward competence, which is reassuring. Also, during this pandemic, they are really making a good effort to distance and sanitize things.
