It was the first time going to the gym and surprisingly really clean and really friendly staff
I have loved this gym for about 3 amazing months! trainers are skilled and very friendly!
I like it because it has multiple of weights sets and racks. Everyone is polite as well.
Great gym, has all the equipment you will ever want.
Fantastic, always clean. Friendly employees.
Not the cleanest or organized gym, and the music is god dang awful, but for the price and proximity it definitely fits my needs!
Dedicated staff, pleasant members, 5 squat racks and a lot of equipment.
Great gym, through cleaning, Covid protocol, should have never closed.
I was a longtime member of over 10 years. I loved this club because of the hammer strength equipment and the location.During the pandemic they continued to charge there members 30% of there fees. I told them to stop charging me until they re-opened. I was not paying for services they were not providing.Instead they canceled my membership and raised there rates fro $30/mo to $47/mo.I contacted them to get my old rate back because I did not cancel and was a longtime member that have already been through 3 rate increases with them. They refused unless I wanted to pay fees for the time they we’re closed.Because of there shady business practices I will not be returning.
This is what I call a gym. It has the best range of equipment this side of Golds Gym Venice Beach. Great atmosphere, and a sense that everyone is there to workout. Awesome place!
Great and easy place to get in a great powerlifting workout.
Great gym. Some of the equipment is old but work with no problem; Plenty of machines, barbell lifting areas, free weights, and treadmills. If youre serious about getting into shape and getting fit, would definitely recommend trying out this gym
This gym is formerly Golds Gym, where I have worked out since 1986. There are more free weights and exotic exercise equipment than earlier times. It is a spacious facility with mens and ladies rooms, lockers, showers etc. The staff is very friendly, as I always get to know everyones names. The gym has food items, protein, drinks; and clothing for sale. The members are ethnically diverse, both men and women. My biggest gripe is people are staring at their phones too much, which detracts from making friends. Nobody wants to work out in a vacuum. Its a clean gym, and prices are decent. I should tell you this is NOT a health spa, so dont expect massages, steam room, and a sauna. Plenty of parking.
Best real gym in the Bay area.
Staff is awesome and regulars friendly.
A straightforward choice for weight training in the area. Spacious parking and wide and readily available selection of free weights were the main factors in my rating. Youll almost never find yourself looking around for the right weight.A couple minor details: there arent many safety clamps for the free weights, which made me feel a little less confident when lifting larger weights. Also, the deadlift plates are in KG. As someone who likes following a precise workout regime, this threw me off a bit. There are nice conversion charts on the wall, though. If you can get by with these issues, then its the perfect place!
Dont even consider joining this place. Worst clientele ! Of course, there are many decent members, but the overall experience is dominated by self-centered, inconsiderate slackers reserving equipment for themselves while they go talk on the phone during peak periods, people sitting on equipment paging endlessly through facebook, and others striving for the most inconceivable ways to top the scale for bad gym etiquette.
Everyone is so supportive, both staff and members. I am glad that I have lost some wight and this has helped me in running and living a healthier life! Highly recommended!
Best gym in town hands down. There si a ton of squat / dead lift racks and the way they are set up one can easily do squat and another deads so people often share. Thats the other thing the members most of the time are really good with each other about it.I only quit going because my job moved to fremont but thinking of re-applying because 24 hr fitness is the WORST
Good solid gym that pretty much has it all. Everything you could need for intense to moderate training. There are plenty of machines so waiting isnt usually a problem. Good clean changing rooms.
Come in the morning and there is plenty of racks and barbell space open. Staff is awesome and regulars friendly.
+ Simple weight lifting gym+ Nice Staff+ Nice people who attend the gym+ Fun group classes offered- The bathrooms are clean, but could be monitored a little more- Wish there were 1 or 2 more squat racks
The coaches are super knowledgeable and personable. The atmosphere is incredibly inviting.
It is a big club with many equipment and some better cardio machines that I havent found in other clubs.Crowd: During weekdays, engineers from nearby high-tech businesses and some scary looking athletic but decent people work out here that mind their own business. But on weekends, the teens and 20-somethings take over that want to make the most of their investment and are not willing to share the machines they are working on.Hygiene: Overall is well maintained and mens locker room area is acceptableConclusion: You get what you pay for. It is a good club to use on weekdays only. I will go back to Club One though.
Been a member for years (the former Golds Gym) . Lots of workout equipment for both serious bodybuilders and newbies. Has everything except a sauna, which is usually found in more expensive health clubs.Staff is fine, equipment is cleaned and dusted everyday. Some people complain about the music, but many of the people wear headphones while they work out, not to mention trolls staring at their phones. The music (mostly rock of sorts) is for background, not easy listening.
Pretty solid gym. Often waits for squat racks from 5 - 830 but thats typical of any gym these days. Needs TVs in the weight area so I can get pumped and watch hockey/football at the same time.
A small place that makes you feel like its your own, but forget about busy hours.Overall, the place is clean, the staff working there right now is very nice. You just have to choose what time of the day you want to go training if youre really serious about it, cos sometimes, its frustrating having to deal with noobs right in the middle of an intense workout...
Decent weight equipment. Very good cardiovascular equipment. They do have plenty of power racks but they fill up fast. I try to go as soon as it opens but by 6 am its really busy. Light crowd on the weekend. Overall its my favorite area golds gym when I am traveling. Ps. They sell week passes if you used up your travel pass.
Love golds gym. Well equipped and great equipment and vibes. Gets crowded later in the day so I try to go early in the morning.
This is my home gym. Main thing I love about this one is that it has 5x squat & deadlift racks and sometimes I still have to go to the half racks and clean the weight to do squats. Big nice open areas. Sometimes it gets super busy, but then people filter out and its back to the regulars.
The staff is courteous the facility is clean and the atmosphere is comfortable. My son and I are very pleased to have joined.
They offer day passes you can buy in advance Works well for people who travel a lot.
One of the best gyms I’ve been to !! Clean, friendly and signs that says “ Rerack your weights “ huge open gym !! Has everything you need !!
Great gym with excellent equipment! Certainly not the nicest or newest facility but top quality machines and plenty of free weights.
I was mostly happy with them. The racks get crowded and clips are a little hard to find but nothing too cumbersome. My major grievance with them came this month. I had a wrist injury and I have not been going to the gym for a month. My doctor said that it would take one or two more months to heal so I wanted to cancel my membership. Lo and behold my surprise when they want to charge me for the next month because there is a 30 day processing time for cancelations. I was going to rejoin after my wrist injury healed. But clearly they would rather lose a long term member instead of letting go of a one month fee.
Actually saw a good turnout at 5am here. Must be decent inside
Well worth traveling 20 minutes to get there. Variety of well-maintained equipment, excellent hours, and almost never over-packed
If you liked Golds Gym, American Barbell is Golds Gym. Only the name has changed.
Great equipment and a great environment, the music is terrible however. The music is either not suitable for a workout, or you cant even hear it at times.
Great club, even tho they switched from golds gym.
I dont know why but its somehow better now after the name change. Maybe some staff is different.
Im a travelling Golds member and this location works for me. It isnt one of the newest facilities, but its fairly well maintained.
Amazing gym. Best place to get strong.
Its a pretty clean and nice gym. I find all the equipment I need, also staff is very friendly.
They offer day passes you can buy in advance. Works well for people who travel a lot.
This place is awesome, friendly staff, good machines, weights, and cardio. Dope
On their website, it is mentioned that I can get a 7-day VIP pass. When I went there with a print out, the guy behind the counter (a pathetically rude ass) told me that they dont offer 7 days any more. Its only for 3 days. So I said OK. They asked me for an ID. I am a student in Canada so I told him that. He said Sorry, this pass is for residents only. Seriously? What if I am visiting for 3 months and want to join? Are you telling me that I cannot get gym membership if I am not residing in the US? How does that even make sense? I cannot believe the guy behind the counter treated me as if I was some weirdo who wanted a free pass! I simply wanted to try out the gym! Rude staff. Unclear rules on their stupid website. Never going there again. EVER.
Great gym, good variety of equipment and very clean..
Lots of different workout equipment. Great place to workout,
Great equipment, not very clean though.
All u need for ur workout.
Really clean n good gym
Everything you need is at this one gym. But it is now American Barbell Club and not Golds Gym
Favorite gym to work out at
Has everything a power lifter needs.
