I booked a rental using Priceline, and my email told me my pick up time was 6 pm. When I showed up to the location at 6 pm, the office was closed, and there was a sign on the door saying that there were new office hours. The office hours had not been updated anywhere online, including their website, Yelp, or on Google. I was never called or emailed to be informed that I should come pick up my vehicle before my designated pick-up time. I ended up having to Uber to another location and get the same vehicle type at double the price that I initially booked it for. As a result, my weekend trip was delayed, and I ended up having to leave the next morning instead of that night - leading to a series of disruptions in my plans. When I later called this location asking for at least a refund on my first booking, the manager I spoke to was extremely curt and refused to issue a refund. Instead, she suggested that I call Priceline and say that the vehicle wasnt available (and to not tell them that the office was closed). When I asked her what should I do about the fact that I paid double for my second rental booking as a result of their negligence, she refused to help and said I would need to speak to somebody else from Hertz. Terrible experience - better to rent from a more professional Hertz location (or better yet, a different company altogether) because the staff here is extremely negligent and unprofessional.

Customer service was phenomenal from pick up to drop off. It was an easy and seamless process The agents were very thorough, answered all my questions, and provided phenomenal service. The car rental process should be a model on how a rental car process should be.I highly recommend this place for the lower rates, awesome service, and great cars.I will definitely be back.

Car rental was fine. The lady at the front desk was talking to me with her mask off and was offended when I requested that she put her mask on and got defensive. Didnt appreciate the customer service. We were told that they are enforcing that all cars be returned clean or theyll charge $300. We also had to go out with the Hertz phone to take any pictures of damage, the customer service rep handed us the phone and didnt come out with us.

Connie and this location is my favorite car rental location nationwide. I travel a lot (140k+ miles annually) and this is the best customer service Ive seen anywhere. Hertz as a company almost lost me due to other bad customer service in the Bay Area, but Connie and her location got me back!

This is like a small place that is agent for the car rental companies. Can be easily missed on the main road. Not all service is available here. Better call before you come in case the service required is not offered. I saw a few customers turned down while returning my car there.

The worst customer service support experience I’ve EVER witnessed at any company. It’s flat out appalling this branch is till operating. To make an extremely long story short, the only thing going well for this location is their manager, Connie. She’s a very pleasant and decent person. Besides that, it offer nothing but misery and disrespect. Im a military, Vietnam war veteran that has served for this country. Im now retired and spend my free time with my family. Especially my special needs son that I mentioned above. I had rented the car for his birthday and we drove an hour north to Fairfield to see his mother to celebrate his birthday. We came back on Monday, September 23rd. When I had arrived back, I entered the complex in the mid-afternoon time. A young, Hispanic woman in her 20s, that was working had a terrible and miserable attitude. She was snarky, inconsiderate, and almost threatening when approaching and talking to me. Since I was arriving after my rental return time, I had asked her if it was possible that we keep it for the rest of the day and returned it in the morning because we had already been charged an extra day. Keep in mind, she hadnt even gone outside yet to check the vehicle, check the gas level or the mileage. She hadnt even STARTED the checkout process. However, she said no, she ripped the keys out of my hand, and said that it wasnt possible since we had already come into the lot with the vehicle. She was one of the worst, and most rude people, let alone employees I had ever dealt with from any company in my 64 years of life. It was absolutely and utterly ridiculous and appalling to be treated this way. ESPECIALLY A VETERAN WHO SERVED TO PROTECT THIS COUNTRY. I then told her I wanted to speak to Connie, the manager, she had told me Connie wasnt in. I then proceeded to leave the building feeling threatened and discouraged, I saw Connie arrive as I was leaving home into my Uber. I called the store number to speak with Connie about the matter. The young, rude employee picked the phone up. When I had asked her about speaking with Connie, she had told me Connie wasnt there. However, I HAD LITERALLY JUST SAW CONNIE WALK IN WITH MY 2 EYES. Ive already filed a complaint about that employee and Hertz wrote back to me saying they had her back. I’ve already told everybody I know about this ordeal and all of my employees as well will no longer be using hertz... especially this awful branch. If you want to avoid disrespect, lying, and being insulted/cheated as a hard paying customer then STAY AWAY from this garbage mess. I would’ve given a 0 star if that were an option!!!

Picked up a cheap rental car just now from Hertz, Im not complaining about the fact that the car was dirty in and out and every body panel was damaged. The problem is that Hertz informs you at pick up that the car must be clean or they charge you a 200 dollar cleaning fee. I had to hassle with them about the condition, not necessary if the car was clean, seems like Hertz is just trying to find a way to increase your rental car cost.

I find these reviews completely strange. Ive always had a wonderful experience here. The staff is well trained and experienced from what I can tell. My car was available even on times when I reserved last minute at the counter. If they didnt have the type i chose they upgraded me :-). Im not sure why but I guess everyone else must really just have bad luck or something.

Best car rental in town. Always acknowledge gold member status. Same manager since my first rental in 2015. I always rent here rather than at the airport. Catch a cab your there in 8 minutes.

Ive been here twice and so far both times took about 15 minutes. First time was a red Fiat and second time was a baby blue Nissan. Cute cars, but were not 100% clean -- there was a shopping bag in the car and some marks here and there, no big deal. The ladies at the front desk were nice and easy going.

Whats up with the grumpy lady at the front desk??😬. I swear God she has the worst attitude I went to return a truck today July 2 at 9 am and she was hella grumpy I forgot the lock code, and asked if they had a tool to break it, she let me suffer trying to open the lock. Next time I will use another rental company.

The customer service at the Alum Rock location is exceptional. Very friendly, happy and helpful people. So different from my regular car rental counter experiences.I had booked a car for the San Jose Airport location through Travelosity, but did not notice that Travelosity actually booked it at Alum Rock about 10 min from the airport. Since it was a pre-pay the airport location could not change it without a large additional charge.I had to take a taxi to the Alum Rock location. The woman at the Hertz counter there offered to pay for my taxi and deducted it from my bill. When I returned the car a week later they gave me a FREE ride back to the airport so we wouldnt have to pay for the taxi. This generosity and caring saved me over $70 in cab fares. This is a family owned business and everyone there was exceptionally caring and friendly, definitely 5 stars!

The service in general was alright, but the employees doesnt seems to know their businesswhen i returned the car, i told the guy i went through cashless toll, and i dont know how to handle it (never paid cashless toll before)he told me Dont worry about it, they will send you a mail and you can pay onlineafter couple weeks, i get charged with 30$ violation handling fees by Hertz, and that doesnt cover the toll fee !I dont recommended this company at all. if you are looking to have joyful experience with no surprises, pay a little more, and get a car from a company that respect their business

I found a good rate for a rental car on line from this location. I got a sedan upgrade from the size I rented. Their check out process was quick and though. They noted all the scrapes, dings, and scratches on their form as we did a walk around prior to turning it over to me. The return process was just as quick and easy, a check of the mileage, gas gauge and any new dings (none) were made. They verified what I would be billed, matching what I signed up for. All good😉

I rent cars regularly from Hertz, and this is by far the worst location Ive been to. When I arrived there was a backup of confused and disgruntled people waiting for the attendant. The attendant was having people call the Hertz hotline to adjust their reservations. She was yelling at people, and being unnecessarily mean to everyone.The car reeked of McDonalds, and was unwashed.Also, the location is 15 minutes from the airport and without a shuttle. So after the Uber rides both ways, it comes out to the same price as getting a car at the airport.

I rented a car there last week. The ladies at the front desk were very friendly, and professional. The white Kia, was very dinged up good thing they took notice..gas was 3/4 full..I returned it full. I appreciate they were open Sundays easy to return. Only thing I negative I can say which needs improvement better vacuuming and car smelled like smoke.please Air out the car and use Air freshers with each new rental.

Terrible! When I showed up to get my car, they had NO cars. Not a single car available, despite my advance reservation. Their solution? Go to the airport and rent a car there, then trust them to adjust the charge. Instead, I requested that they call my cell phone, when a car gets returned later that day. No phone call. No car. No way to run a business. Renting from Hertz really HURTS!

This place cost me about 4 hours of my life and almost 50 miles on my grandmothers car. The employees are completely incompetent. We experienced complications too intricate for me to elaborate on, all in the name of renting a car for one week. Use enterprise or dollar, any other rental company.

This review is related to the Alum Rock location in San Jose. The 3 star rating is for the fact that they did provide me a vehicle, and in a timely manner. It took about 10 minutes to get a car, and 5 minutes to drop off. Prices are comparable to other rental agencies in the area. But! Their customer service is terrible. Terrible in the sense that while in the office, or calling, the woman working there had a pretty poor attitude, almost as if she hated her job. This negative energy was very obvious. As a service company, the entire experience is important to the customer, including the time spent at the rental office. Word of advice, hire happier people that don’t make the customer feel bad for renting a car.

The staff is great the parking is tragic. Keep in mind this is more over a storage facility that has an add on car rental company.The parking area is connected to there main storage facility entrance. Their is a constant flow of traffic ranging in vehicle sizes and pedestrians. There is also another fenced area but cant recall if its a part of the storage place or a whole other entity, possibly apartment complex.If you are renting a car from here get dropped off or be prepared to have an additional patient skilled driver that doesnt mind waiting around and reparking mutiple times.The location is bitter sweet since it is literally right next to the 280/680 freeway on/off ramps. Heres the bitter part, for me anyway, like most Ill just fill it on the way. Although theres a gas station right across the street the freeway on and off ramps make a constant traffic flow. You have to go through a vast amount of irritating u turns with short light changes and defensive driving. Which may leave you, at least for me, in a forget it state and leave you paying a ridiculous amount per gallon per the norm for any rental company.Upon my return from my trip i was approaching the return time and had another 4 hrs or so to go. I called in to ask how much for another day or latest time i could drop off at. I was not able afford an extra day but they were pretty flexible in return time. My intentions were to haul butt back as my B plan but the rep helping me said let me look into something. Was on hold for a while but well worth it after they came back. Instead of charging me a whole other day they just extended my contract and modified it to a different package rate. This allowed for another 3 days only paying a fraction of what it was for 1 additional day. Realistically I needed those extra days. Traveling with kiddos to various attraction sites there was no way i would have been able to unpack clean out and clean up a week of kid mess. Additionally it helped with my Sanity and Safety, not having to stress on the time and being a speed demon.Overall good experience the staff was courteous but have intervals of extreme workflow. Go prepared and with a lot of patience not for the company per say but more for the locations environment. My experience with the staff weighed out the frustrating parts of the environment.

Reservation and no vehicle!!!If I could give this place Zero Stars, I would!!!!Never will I rent from this place again!Do not rent or trust this place! We reserved a 7 pasanger SUV for a planed family trip, and when we went to pick it up at the alum rock herts location, they didnt have it!!! It completely ruined our family plans!!!!Our total time lost was from 10 to 2:30! This place blamed the airport hurts, and the hertz 1-800 customer service, said they werent responsible! But the 800 # said they could reffer me to a towing company to see how they could help me!!!!🤔 Really!!! I couldnt believe this was happening!! Nobody wanted to take responsibility!They finally got a hold of somebody from hurts SJ airport! Barbara We ended up driving ourselves in one of their rental veicles from the alum rock location. Supposely to exchange it for the Nissan Pathfinder 7 passenger vehicle we requested in the first place!When we arrived at the airport, we had to check in the five passanger rental veicle, to exchange it for the pathfinder, then still waited their for 2 additional hours. Finally they told us they were going to give us a large SUV, not the pathfinder! This Large SUV had had a dent on the side, I felt like I was driving a bus!!! Not only that that SUV chugged Gas like Water. It was a complete nightmare!

AVOID AVOID AVOID Can I rate this place LESS THAN ZERO?I reserved a car and when I arrived they did not have any carS. Their solution was I go across town to the airport and rent a HERTZ CAR FOR THREE TIMES MORE than my reservation. Now Im wasting more of my time trying to get my deposit back. Never give this place your business. Unfortunately, I reserved from here through Expedia before I read the reviews.
