Easy rental car place to get in and out of. Shuttles are slower right now due to lack of staff. Running every 6-12 minutes.

The Google maps which leads here is very confusing I always miss the turn. So look out for the SJC rental board at the airport itself that would be helpful. You will find all the major car rentals here. Its open until 11:00 p.m.. If you have a reservation you can pick up the car anytime which is 24/7.

Conveniently located across from the SJC airport terminal, a brief couple minute walk across the street. Car rental counters could be quicker if more staff were working but those who were there were helpful and knowledgeable.

Place was open & easily accessible from airport. Just not a Fox rental fan.

The rental center is great. The service vendors not so much. They dont know how to staff according to schedule. They should know the number of reservations coming in at a certain hour and should staff up. Line was long. Took 45 mins to get to a pre reserved rental. Fox.7 or 8 people constantly in line...1 agent.. not cool.

Great airport, great rental facility. Pay attention when you ring for the elevator, it could be in the next bank over ( there are a lot of elevators).

Its some distance from the airport. You had to go cross the street from it. Normally at main entry but wasnt offering service there for Enterprise other rental car service were for what ever reason. You had to go to the 6th floor. Service is excellent once you get to them. Just thought it was little to far with luggage and all. (I dont know if they offered a shuttle to the main car rental service if they do I would do this instead).

The city of San Jose posts signs to different parking lots that you have to pay to get out of and doesnt have signs telling you how to get to the rental center. THEY ROB MANY PEOPLE EVERY DAY

Not a ding against SJC Rental Car Center, but a major ding against Thrifty Car Rental. Be advised slow processing/check-in, heavy pressure to buy extra insurance, and (surprise) car not ready, but for a upcharge a bigger car is available immediately.

Please be patient if they are busy. They are very busy because they are very popular. They will provide you with excellent customer service when they get a chance. Please be patient.

Budget rental return was confusing as...

I am allegedly high status with Enterprise but this is the only location that doesnt upgrade. Entire rental center empty but staff was apathetic.

Out of cars. Had to wait for someone to bring a car back.

For an in-airport rental car center, the SJC Rental Car Center is one of the most organized I have been to in my travels. Easy to find from anywhere in the airport, there is no need to go anywhere else to find a car. Only when on the far end of the airport might you need to take a shuttle one stop. Otherwise, a simple cross of the street will get you there.

Nothing to complain. Across the street of SJC, Enterprise has been my only choice for stable car rental quality, this works for me very well.

Very convenient from terminal B. Just a walk across the street... no bus needed! Pickup and drop off with National was flawless. Much improved versus what they had years ago with the off site one.

Overall a gold facility with all rental agencies and they have alright inventory most of the time. Staff at Hertz and Nationals are sometimes helpful, just sometimes.

Im going to start at the end. Youre returning your car and thinking about security and getting to your terminal. Returning your car could not be easier. Its a very easy path from the highway to the rental return ramp. The return process is very efficient. The shuttles are frequent.

Five stars when flying in/out Terminal B. 4 stars for A, strictly for convenience.Located next to Terminal B. Staff is always friendly and helpful, directions to cars are straight forward and everything, including the exit, is well marked.Same for the return. Easy and convenient.

There are a lot of cars to choose from there. It is very easy to find the rental car center. The cars are so clean.

If you fly southwest its perfect but California taxes hardcore on rentals😞

Close to airport, one stop away from all terminals. Easy to get service on Avis. Well laid out with clear markings. Only downside is you have to spiral down and up after taking the rental and for returning the car.

A modern airport car rental center you can walk to from the terminal! Its a huge parking garage with different companies on different levels. We didnt have any problems finding our way back to return the car.

Super efficient. Shuttle from the far terminals to the Rental Car center. Walking distance from closer terminals. Every company has their space, easy to see when you walk in. Lots have self-service kiosks. Get your info about which car to take away. Bathrooms on the first floor. Then go to the garage floor for your company, check in, get a car and be on your way. Lots of new cars, low mileage (less than 1000 miles; one guy in my group got a car with 6 miles on it). Return is just as easy. Great signage to the garage, also to correct floor for your company. Quick check-in and get across the street to the airport terminal.

Great rental car pickup and drop off facility. Rental car companies, on the other hand, are a different story.I am AVIS Preferred. I have NOT ONCE arrived at the AVIS area with my vehicle ready to go. I have ALWAYS had to go to the AVIS Preferred desk to clear up one discrepancy or the other. Sometimes, its been faster to go to through the regular que.

Slow service. I got a car with scratches all over the body and all on the wheels. The car window is jammed on the half way down. And the price is ridiculously high with all the extra taxes and service fees. But theres no other choice to rent a car close by.

Easy place to drop off a car, just stay left as you drive into the airport.

No parking but the lot gives you free 8 min access so get dropped off. After that it is all fairly self explanatory.

Why is this garage 6 stories high while airport terminals are single story? It might be convenient to build a garage for all major car rental companies in one building. To me, its a humbug to drive in and out of this lot.

Maybe this was an off day, but check in and pick up was anything BUT a breeze. Dollar car rental was understaffed, and very slow. People with no reservations and no grasp of the language tied up the few agents that were there. We waited almost an hour to get to the desk. We had a reservation and once we were helped, the experience was quick. Maybe there should be a line for prior reservations.

O really like how this car rental is organized - it is easy to get car and to return it back as well. I mean it is easy to find return location, no need to get between multiple forks, like in SFO.

The facility is really fine, but why are the big agencies clear at the top of the building. Dang near got dizzy driving down the ramp...all 6 floors

Fast, efficient.

Layout was not well thought out.Bus from rental center.No skyway with slidewalks to terminals.Look at PVD for a reasonably thought out rental centre... SJC looks like they didnt put any thought at all into placement and transportation... diesel transit buses to move people from the terminals in a metro area full of people preaching the green agenda.

There is a lot of Rent-A-Car places there at San Jose Airport easy to get to jump off airplane and go straight to Rent-A-Car Place pick up your car

Check out the specific rental companys offers you want beforehand. Know what kind of car you want because getting a car is easy but getting the car they advertise is almost impossible.Example, advertise full car - camry, offered cars - kia optima, chevy Malibu, nissan Altima.Getting the car and dropping off are extremely easy. Easy for holiday travel as well.

I had purchased 7 days for $129 and the desk clerk said; t didnt include taxes etc. So he quoted me $230 as my fee owed. I declined. Then he lowered it twice and said $159 was lowest he could go. WTF ! Dont trust this car rental. Sleezebags!

Avoid payless. The representative literally could not even tell me how much he was swiping my card for. After multiple lines of direct questioning, I gave up trying to get an answer and moved on.

The facility is old and aging with really bad signage. The upside is that it is directly connected to the airport, with no shuttle needed.
