Im grateful to have found Dr. Stygers office. I found him and his staff to be trustworthy, skillful, and friendly. I had an exam, cleaning, and received recommendations for further dental work. I felt that I could trust the recommendations. I was able to get in for the second appointment quickly. The office visit was as pleasurable as a dentist visit could be, and Im very happy with the outcome.

I visited first time ever in San Francisco for annual check up and then for recommended treatment. Both the time I had wonderful experience. They follow the covid guidelines and Doctor Styger is very knowledgeable and experienced dentist. He explained all the details nicely and made me comfortable during the treatment. The staff was very helpful and kind.

I enjoy catching up with Lorie and Dr. Styger. They are able to work around my crazy gag reflex while getting x-rays!

Just got my wisdom tooth out, it was very smooth - I was so nervous and scared, but - the anesthesia shots were gentle and quick and the exaction procedure took about just 1 min. Doctor Styger and Lorie are wonderful! ❤️

Ive been going to Dr. Styger since I first moved to SF about 10 years ago. He and his staff are very kind and helpful. Dr. Styger himself is extremely experienced and knowledgable of his craft, and works closely with other specialists in the building to achieve the best results for your oral health.

Ive been seeing Dr Styger for cleanings for the last year and love his office. My most recent visit made me SO grateful to have a great dentist on call- I came to him to treat an urgent broken tooth caused by a bad fall. I had fainted and severely dislocated my front teeth. My husband was able to reach his office immediately, send pics by email, and I was in the dentist chair within 1.5 hours. Dr Styger was incredibly capable and acted quickly to save the tooth and re-set it and develop a plan for long term repairs, and was able to refer me to an oral surgeon within the same building immediately to handle stitching up my mouth. It was a scary situation for me and he and his team were so kind and capable and took care of me well. My uncle who is an ER doctor also advised me on treatment and he said everything Dr Styger did was spot on. Also, theyre very transparent about pricing and I always feel I can trust them. Highly recommend Dr Styger, and I hope to never have another serious dental emergency but feel relieved knowing he has me covered!

He does exceptional work, and the office staff and team there are talented, genuinely friendly and a joy to be around. Dr Styger, is a very fine dentist who does excellent work. I remember he did a very difficult root canal on a tooth on the lower left side of my jaw . I have never had any problems with his work. I was a client of his office for seventeen years, 2000 -2017 My last appointment with him was in March 2018. I am moving to Utah, otherwise I would still keep him as my dentist. He and his staff are very friendly and helpful.

Ive been going to Dr. Styger and his team for about a year and couldnt be happier. I needed a new dentist and wanted one near work and came across Dr. Styger. Conveniently located at 450 Sutter and very straight forward appointment. Everyone was very nice and I recommend to anyone needing a new dentist.

Ive been going to Dr. Styger for almost 4 years now and have been very happy overall. Dr. Styger has never recommended extra procedures that I hear about all too often (from friends who go to other dentists). All he has recommended in the past 2+ years are the regular cleaning sessions. And Ive never had to wait for more than a minute when I was in for appointments.A word of advice: Given how flaky dental insurances are, always get a pre-authorization (even for a regular cleaning session).

I was mistreated by a dentist when I was younger, so going to the dentist was ALWAYS a big FEAR for me, even at the ripe age of 24. I moved back to San Francisco after graduating from college. I landed a great job while going to grad school, but needed a dentist. I had so many issues with my mouth and teeth, but was so scared to see a dentist until my boss at the time recommended her dental office. This is where I met Dr. Styger, from the first time I met him I knew this was going to be the beginning of a great relationship. Dr. Styger is the best! I have had so much work done for all the years of not going to see a dentist. He was very patient with me, and very gentle, all of my treatments with him have been great. He has great bedside manners and a sense of humor. He has taken a real good care of me and my mouth.. At one company, I referred all of my colleagues to Dr. Styger and they all loved him. I have been with Dr. Styger for over 17 years and I am SUPER happy hes my dentist.

Dr. Styger is one of the most professional medical professionals Ive ever met. He has a caring bedside manner (well, I guess a chairside but you know what I mean!), sends appointment reminders via text and the phone, and, most impressively, calls afterwards to check in and see how you are doing.His front office team is wonderful! They are so diligent and thorough. They always help you find the best deals with your insurance company and help you research what is and is not covered.They are truly top notch. Really terrible experience with Joseph Styger. Ended up paying a lot more from my own pocket that I would have been supposed to. I just felt robbed. This is what happened:First some context. I had a tooth ache and my regular dentist being on vacation I found Mr Styger on Yelp. After reading a few positive reviews I called and ended talking with Laurie his assistant who said that I could come in the next hour. She took my information on the phone and I specifically asked if my insurance and dental plan is supported (Aetna PPO). She said it should be ok, but I insisted on being sure before I commit to take the appointment. She said shes going to check and she called me back 10 min later confirming that I would be covered.I had my appointment, which ended up in having a root canal being done. They gave me an invoice with the detail of the full procedure and the associated costs. This was supposed to be a 3 steps procedure, removing of the nerves, then a temporary fix and a crown. The first and second appointments went well, and the dentist said I can do the crown later if I want since its the most expensive part.A few days after the 2nd appointment, the tooth ache started again, and I called to have it checked. My gum was bleeding and the aching was at the same location than when it first happened. I got Laurie, the assistant on the phone, and before continuing the conversation she said that I have an outstanding balance because the insurance company did not pay for everything, and that it happens. The outstanding balance in question was almost $400!!!I proceed to book the appointment as I wanted to get more explanation about what the problem was.After a long conversation with Laurie where she gave me the details this is what happened:- She told me that Dr Styger is out of the network of my insurance company which means she purposely forgot to mention that the first time I called and pretended that it would be ok.- She said that they dont really know what insurance reimburse and they base it on experience. Having been to a few dentists they are generally super accurate when it comes to this sort of know-how.- She said she could have asked for an estimate from the insurance company, but never mentioned it the first time, although I mentioned that my budget is very limited and I cant even afford the crown for now.I went on with my appointment for the tooth ache that was still there and Mr Styger without even examining the culprit tooth concluded that I should get my wisdom tooth removed. to which I obviously said no. He then left wishing me an Happy New Year with a grin. I left, paying my outstanding balance and feeling being victim of a thief.Long story short: Avoid going to Joseph C Styger.
