Its very difficult to communicate with management. its seems like if they were not there. Jason, the current building manager scheduled me for 10:00 AM but he didnt come until noon. very unprofessional and disregarding.

LOVE active space! It’s professional and affordable, also the location is great and centrally located and easily accessible.

My massage therapist was using the space for a while as his studio. Pretty decent space, very industrial, but serves its purpose well. The bathrooms are clean as are the hallways

Fantastic management staff. You can often see them around the building fixing, cleaning, keeping us safe! great environment. I have a few friends who rent here too and they agree. The hours you can use your work room are not limited to “business hours” like many other rental companies. Good energy in my space on the second floor. It could use some landscaping but other than that it feels great.

Great spot! I am friends with many of the tenants here. They all rave about ActivSpace, and I definitely enjoy my visits.Only downside Ive heard is that it can be a little pricey, but hey, what isnt in SF these days?

The most horrible experience in renting an art studio in San Francisco!! BEWARE! Incompetent management - they incorrectly quoted my unit, and without any advanced notice demanded double payment for the unit or moving out. Lack of communication and no way to escalate the issue to upper management. Huge lack of staff training - they place a triple charge on my credit card for the parking space deposit. NEVER RENT from this place - I never experienced such unfair and unprofessional treatment from the staff.

Great building! Im lucky enough to be one of the surviving artists in this city and thats in no small part to being able to have my space here. Great community, good vibes, and the management actually gives a d*%$, funny how much of a difference that makes.Shout out to Matt and Michael. I look forward to many more years in my space!

8/22/2019I want to give a shout out to Michael Hafner and Mathew Fenzl, the building managers in San Francisco. They have been consistently supportive, kind, generous, and flexible in my dealings with them. They have gone out of their way to answer questions, and suggest creative solutions to problems I have come up against, regarding my workspace. They have responded in a timely manner, and always with a smile to all inquiries and requests. Thanks so much Matt and Michael!

Very corporate values in the way they run the building. Management is not local (based in Seattle). Some shady handling of conflicts and other issues here. Reasonable rent prices although they are constantly going up. Nice community of people in the building. Read the fine print on the rental contract before you sign!

So I went to active space office in San Francisco & spoke to the new manager. I told him I wanted to start a dry barbershop he said OK “that’s a gray area for us so if you send me an email with your detailed plans on how you would prevent hair from clogging the drain‘s then I’ll pass it on to the appropriate people and I’ll get back to you”.So I took about two weeks to research and create my plan I sent it to him and his response was that’s a great plan to conserve water, However we will stick to our firm decision of no new hair salons at Active space. Good luck. His response was very different from what he told me.it was very confusing and disheartening. It feels like discrimination. They promote active space as “what is your dream?”And I shared my dream in detail with him and his response was good luck.

Solid place to make and create. No unneccesary bells & whistles, just private workspaces. Ive tried wework and a couple of other art studios, but no one else could get the basics right like they do here. Plus the managers are actually helpful and dont treat you like an inconvenience.

I can not say enough wonderful things about my 7 years at Activspace Mission! The affordability, the professionalism, the parking and mail services, the community, the management (!!!) — were all top notch and I loved it all. Just starting out? Changing direction? Been here several times for various reasons. I find the entrance to be rather poorly thought out and the halls to be uninviting. Several people have told me the tenants routinely get gouged by the management. Too bad there arent alternatives for small businesses.
