We were looking for a small young dog for a little rescue that we already had. It was easy to make decisions on the dogs here because there is such great detail. Did they get along with cats did they get along with other dogs did they like children were they potty trained did they have some issues you might have to deal with. All rescues have issues but they pointed out whatever little issue they could think of that the foster noticed so that you’re well prepared to welcome the new dog in your home. The foster mom that we had was absolutely fantastic she had all kinds of pictures of him and a four page introduction of things that he like And or didn’t like how he behaved everything you could think of ! She made a point of telling me that I should call her for any reason concerning him she would be happy to answer any questions or help me with any issues that may come up so it’s been an absolutely wonderful experience! My husband and I absolutely adore our little Oliver !
They advocate for these little dogs & work hard at making great matches.
I feel that some of the criteria is Way too precise and is stopping these pets from having loving caring homes thus keeping them in shelters for longer periods of time😥
She texts me I cannot adopt because I dont have a current Vet. I havent owned a dog/cat in over 20 yrs. Offered to make an appt, prior to adoption. She texts me to go to my local animal shelter. Definitely, NOT willing to even talk to you to help place her rescues. So sad for them. I am retired from Hospice and was wanting to offer my caring to a fur buddy now that I have the time they deserve. I also provide my Reiki skills for others pets.
This is a bit late but I was calling around to find some help on re-homing my mothers dog due to some behaviour issues and I was getting nowhere. I didnt want her to be put down in a shelter because she has some slight behaviour issues and luckily Mary was able to help us. Not only did she give advice and share her experience with dogs like coco (and even my newly adopted yorkie-poo) but she came to my mothers house to pick coco the same day I discussed needing her help. Very reliable, does everything she says. She was super kind and my mother absolutely loved her. Even though she was sad that she had to let coco go, She knew her dog was going into good hands. I wanted to adopt from Mary in the past so I knew her standards for how she rehomed her dogs were top notch. Even after she took coco she still wanted to stay in touch for any of my current dog needs or just to see how coco was doing. Its great that theres people like Mary out here willing to give these dogs a second fighting chance. Thank you. She is definitely someone who cares and whether youre adopting or re-homing a pet with her, youre in great hands.
I have fostered two dogs with Mary Ts Chis and I have to say I failed both times because I adopted both of my fosters. I have never seen 2 women - Mary and Debbie work so unconditionally hard to save dogs. I went with Mary on a trip to Harrison to get to dogs from one of her fosters. Mary never quits I do not know how she does it. We need Donations and really she needs a station wagon type car or minivan as her car just has only so much room. If I had the money I would buy her one. Maybe we should start a GO FUND ME account for a new or used vehicle for her.
For those who have never had the chance to foster or volunteer for a rescue, please do! Not only is it incredibly rewarding, but you learn so much and meet some truly wonderful people along the way!Not only are all of the dogs completely vetted upon intake (spay/neuter, dental, heartworm/flea/tick, grooming, ect.), the volunteers spend many hours looking over all of the applications to make sure that each dog is matched with their perfect forever home based off of their individual needs. In many (if not all) of these situations that does mean that the dogs require forever families who are experienced pet owners with good veterinary habits. Mary Ts Chis is truly looking to provide the best for these pups and ensure that they get the second chance they deserve.
Loving our dog❣ Shes a super cuddler ❤❤❤
VERY helpful with the application process. We are still searching for our future family member and will keep this Rescue at the top of our list.
Extremely friendly and helpful.Even called the next day to seehow Dixie did overnight and gavesome very helpful tips!
I have adopted a few dogs from Mary Ts Chis, and I have to say they are very good at matching dogs with the right people. They take a lot of time and make sure its a good fit for everyone. I have learned the perfect dog for me isnt always my first choice. I am very pleased with the medical and preventative care that the rescue provides as well. My dog, Oscar, cost the rescue a lot more money than the adoption fee that I paid. If they feel a dog has a good chance of living a full and happy life, they spare no expense. I appreciate the effort their volunteers put into saving these dogs and I am very thankful for mine.
Called to ask about fenced yard requirementMary was quite rude as if not having a moment to find out my question, before hanging up on me.I question the REALITY of this adoption business.
Sent request about a dog never received response. This has happened more than once.
Mary Ts Chis does a wonderful job finding the right homes for each of the dogs.
Beware of this rescue. If you havent owned a dog before dont bother to apply. They only want experience dog owners and veterinarian established owners. I applied to them and to find that out. All I wanted to do was adopt a dog and give it a wonderful life and home. I wonder why you gotta be a experienced dog owner to qualify to adopt thur this rescue. This is the reason people adopt from breeders or per stores. If you are a first time going to adopt they will tell you to get your first pet at a shelter. First time adopters dont waste your time.
Adopting from Mary’s T’s Chi’s was a wonderful experience. Volunteers were timely and incredibly friendly, especially Marie...she is the absolute best. The dog Mary picked out for me and my family was and is the perfect choice.
Mary has been adopting small dogs to good homes for almost 10 years. She refuses a lot of people who dont meet her high standards. Rejected would-be-adopters are free to buy a dog or easily get a dog from a shelter. Marys dogs always will be and always have been protected by her and her lawyers.
Thank you Mary T and Staff at Mary Ts Chis, we recently adopted a beautiful little chihuahua name Mahlo, who we have since renamed, he is a perfect fit for myself and my husband, such a loving little guy. Thank you and your staff for all you do on a daily basis to rescue and place love and security back into the lives of these beautiful little souls. God Bless.
We adopted our dog Dazzle/Mia from Mary T’s chi’s. She is a wonderful new member of our family. The people with the rescue were thourough, helpful, and understanding. Mia came to us well cared for, and they sent her favorite toys and bones with her along with some food to get us started. 👍🏻👍🏻
Mary Ts was wonderful to work with. Each person we talked to was compassionate about the dogs available for adoption and making sure they are with a great family. After the adoption both the foster mom and volunteers from Mary Ts reached out to make sure everything was going well. We love our new dog, he has fit right into our family and we couldnt be happier.
My Mom found her forever fur baby and we found an organization with heart and dedication. Mary T. is a cool woman who knows her stuff and loves her dogs! She will do what it takes to ensure that her rescue dogs find the right homes. It’s not an easy task. I admire her.
I emailed about a dog. after several emails back and forth she asked if she could call me. I gave her my number and said yes. After not hearing from her i called the number on the WEBSITE.. she questioned me as to how i got her number. Then asked why i was calling her. I said cause you asked for my number so i figured i could call you. She then proceeded in a very rude way to tell me that she will call me when she has time in the next few days. I couldnt believe that this person was in charge of taking care of these poor animals. this place isnt right.
Thank you Marytschis for my recent adoption of my sweet dog to me! The process of adopting from your rescue was wonderful everyone is so kind. We love our new addition . My rescue had a rough start in life but your organization made sure that all her health issues were cared for before i got her. She is now the happiest girl and is loved beyond words.
Got my Willie from this rescue. Everything was perfectly done from start to finish. The foster was so nice to tell me about him and even knitted him a sweater. You can tell theres a love for the dogs. I was placed with a perfect baby.
I foster and adopted through Mary T’s Chis and I couldn’t be happier! Many of the dogs come into rescue in sad shape and Mary spends a lot of money to get these babies healthy and adoptable! She makes sure they go to their perfect adoptable home.
I have not received a response of being approved or denied, after days of applying. I read that you must have a vet or your application is immediately denied. In all honesty, I think that is inconsiderate for people who may be a first time adopter like myself. I want to rescue a dog, but I can’t because I don’t have a vet Y YET. It makes it very difficult to adopt a dog at the rescues and shelters. I don’t support breeding, but now, I understand why people still buy from breeders.
I adopted Prince Elliotand Lady Bug Bug from Mary Ts Chis. What wonderful dogs!! They were vet checked, neautered/spayed, given a dental and microchipped. It is a great rescue organization. I highly recommend.
From my fostering experience the dogs health and well being are top priority with Mary. Very well cared for animals. Thank you for what you do.
Beware - if you’re honest about your experience and leave a review on Facebook, owner will not only leave a fake “at the advice of my attorneys please cease and desist,” (oh please 😂) but will then continue to post derogatory comments that aren’t true about you. Beware. Not the kind of place you want to get involved with.
I called regarding 3 dogs i saw(all brothers). She didn’t get back within the time frame, so i called again. The app says if you don’t have a vet your app will be omitted(which she said i would know if i read the top). I explained we don’t have any so we would just have to choose one. She said so you never owned one? I said not since i was a child. Then she asumptively asks if my husband has. I explained he also hasn’t since he was a child. She says,” so you want one now” and then says. Well it doesn’t matter bc they are all being adopted. I asked her since we haven’t recently we can’t now want a dog? This is why dogs stay in the shelter/or in foster bc people like this. Very disheartening
When she picked up the Phone she was very rude and I have not called the animal shelter before She asked me if I left a voicemail I said no I have not called before I try to call her before this experience but I got disconnected I tried to call her again and that’s when she saidAnd then she acts very nice for a few seconds then she asked me the question if I left a voicemail then I said no And then she said I can’t help you no very harsh it was a very weird experience for
Very disheartening experience. I have been rescuing, rehabilitating and adopting standard poodles and mixes to forever homes for many years but finally decided that the time had come for us to take a break and collect ourselves and find our own forever dog. I also am a groomer of these breeds. We have allergy kids in the house and my stepson is afraid of large breed dogs and we had decided a Bichon, Maltese or a similar breed would be right for our family. I asked some FB friends if anyone knew of one who needed adopting as I don’t support breeding or pet shops from all the years of rehabilitating the poor souls that came from it. Mary was tagged in the post and posted the link to an adoptable dog named Cotton that she thought would be a match. I excitedly hurried and filled out the application and waited... and waited. I told my husband and he was so excited and asked me every ten minutes for nearly two days what was going on. As the time passed with no response from Mary, I finally reached out and was told that Cotton required a “secure fence to run around the yard,” which is a farce, but we don’t have one. You can’t assure the gate won’t fail or forget to be shut anymore than you can assure they will get walks and runs - that’s just silly. All dogs need to be supervised in our yard and you could ask any neighbor in our subdivision how many times per day our rescues are seen been walked or ran or taken to the park or dog park in all weather. How many times I am seen with a pouch of treats on my side teaching a pup I am sitting or grooming how to heel on a walk or working on distraction training because the owner is so desperate for help. How many times they witnessed a sad soul on a leash in our yard that had been locked in a closet for years that I ran out and saved or was tied to a tree at a crackhouse and the dog went from a sad, scared dirty malnourished dog to a vetted, well trained, clean beautiful happy dog ready for a family. Or you could ask the forever homes of those dogs. This one time, I wanted a companion to live here until it’s last days and to be that right family. This was the first time I’ve actually seen my husband cry in years. It really bothers me that I was not notified for two days while she repeatedly posted Cotton as available for adoption on the Facebook page rather than taking one moment to let me know. And second - this is a HUGE red flag for a rescue for me - is the fence issue. If you’ve worked with dogs enough, you know that first, no such thing as a secure fence. Dogs that live in fenced yards are always the ones that are on Facebook because they got out and they are NEVER the ones you see being walked, ran or trained on the sidewalk or park or dog park. When is the last time you saw a dog in a back yard exercising itself? Yeah, never. Those dogs aren’t engaged with their human parents learning and being supervised - they are nuisance barking, chewing themselves, digging holes in the yard or laying by the back yard waiting to get in. This is a TWELVE POUND DOG and I worried that me running with him 8-10 miles per day and stopping at the park or dog park several times per week may be too much for him so I actually was going to order a pouch or wagon for the way back. Also, leaving a dog to it’s own devices in a back yard is a bad idea because if something comes after the dog and they are not leashed, there’s not a thing you can do most of the time. This is such backwards thinking. I do not recommend this rescue, and I’ll continue to support and donate to Paws for a Cause instead. Too many red flags here, so sad but this is why there are so many homeless dogs and people buying from Pet Shops and breeders. There’s a dog out there that’s sitting at a rescue that could have lived in a beautiful sub with sidewalks and parks in a big home in the country spoiled rotten with love with two parents that are always home and four good kids. I’m just happy I didn’t get my kids hopes up too.
I talked on the phone with a woman. It was about 10:40pm it says it’s 24 hours. When I had mentioned I found a dog, she told me that it was a rescue not a shelter, fine... but as she got off of the phone she mockingly said “11 o clock at night.” I found that a bit disrespectful and all I was trying to do was help a dog.
Mary T IS WONDERFUL
