A fantastic traditional gym with further classes and features to offer people. From a gym perspective a great selection of equipment and the opening hours make it very accessible. To answer top questions I always have: there are showers here and they provide towels, they do either 1 day or 1 week guest passes and you can just turn up with ID to pay for this. Will return loved training here.
I really like this gym compared to the other gyms I have been to because their service is so outstanding! I am so satisfied with how they deal with their clients and monitors your progress every two weeks! I highly recommend this gym!
So sad that local gem World Gym SF has closed at this location after a stalemate with the landlord. Hopefully the family will find another space and reopen.
Love World Gym in SF! It all started with the excellent sales service, which was extremely informative and got me set up quick. This place is very clean, you can tell they take pride in that. It also has plenty of different machines/ free weights/ classes. Couldnt ask for a better experience!
Every class I attended, without fail, the members helped pick up the gym at the end without having to be asked. To me, this demonstrates that the members are personally invested in their workout, their trainers, THEIR GYM. That kind of thing goes a long way with me, because it shows everyones willing to help each other out.
I did a trial run here. Its a no nonsense gym. Dont expect fancy equipment and swanky locker room amenities. People come here to workout and the staff is very friendly. I liked my experience here.
1. Very clean and nice gym equipment2. Open many and nice classes3. Reasonable membership fee(Group price)4. Free parking and many parking spaces5. Clean shower and locker room6. Provided tower and gym clothes
Great place to workout. No nonsense gym to get a good sweat in, equipment is nice, and the hours are really accessible. They have decent showers and they provide towels.
For the amount of money that they charge, the state of the equipment does not match the price. Not to mention on top of the monthly fee, there is a once-per-year charge for gym and equipment maintenance/upgrade. I would think this would be covered by the monthly fee? What else is the monthly fee going for?Second, the cancellation. I moved out of SF and was trying to cancel my membership. Theyre perfectly capable of signing you up and starting your membership at the gym, but cancellation can only be done via email. An email which I get no response for in a week. And then another monthly charge goes through. Called them to ask, and apparently it takes at least two weeks to cancel. Signing up is instantaneous on location, but cancelling is two weeks. What a joke and scam to extract every last dollar possible.
My favorite gym in SF. World gym is a big space with tons of old school hard core machines. There is more variety, and space here than any other gym I frequent in the city. There are also tons of trainers / fitness competitors that train here. If you are a serious lifter this is your spot, tons of massive guys for SF.
Last week, this gym allowed a homeless person to enter for a free trial because he stated he was an SF resident (and no ID was requested). The homeless person proceeded to swing wildly on the rings and misuse the gym equipment. He then went into the locker room (to apparently shower for over an hour and do who knows what else), and shockingly gym management just stood outside the locker room and stopped its *paying members* from entering the locker room.If you can get past this outrageous event where the cleanliness of the equipment/locker room and safety of the paying gym members was compromised, its a regular gym with the more than occasional number of patrons who like to pose and take pics of themselves flexing.
Awesome gym, this place is for people who want to lift, great for bodybuilders but friendly for anyone. Lots of free weights and machines. Had 3 amazing workouts with Mike Conol, head of fitness. Friendly and knowledgeable, will definitely come here again when next in San Francisco. There is a little restaurant/ cafe attached to the gym (open shorter hours) but you can get food and shakes Post lift.
I read the reviews from others before going there, but my experience was actually very pleasant. i called first to learn that they offer a daily and weekly subscription, so i bought one week and went four times (pricey for sure, but was worth it). tons of machines and weights. unfortunately only 3 platforms, but i was there at off times so was pretty empty.
This gym deserves 5 stars, because its not your average gym. The weights & machines have been carefully curated ... and even if they are old looking, they are BEST IN CLASS. Now, this isnt your Equinox style of gym. Worlds is a bit old-school, but that doesnt mean it doesnt have the best workout equipment. For example, its the only gym I know of in SF with a true front-facing hack squat. The gym is surprisingly clean too. The only thing that I dont like about this gym is the locker rooms are not the most desirable and the restaurant at the front (Its just off putting)...they really should have a health bar with smoothies (etc.).
This gym double charges people who sign up for 1-week passes, knowing that they probably wont notice. Ive been calling them for 2 months and they still havent refunded me the $100. Im about to call them for the third week in a row to get my money back.[EDIT]: In response to the below comment. They asked me for a copy of my credit card statement, which they asked for to verify the double charge. I sent it to them with the double charge on it. Then they responded saying I need to email them my actual credit card number instead. Sorry, but no way Im sending my credit card number over email to someone that already double charged me. I ended up filing a dispute with my credit card company and theyll be handling it from here on.
This gym is a scam.If you want to support good behavior in businesses, dont join this gym. I was falsely sold on the idea of month to month at this gym by a sales girl (to compete with my 40 dollar month to month at 24 hour fitness). Turns out she lied and the contract bound me to a year. Misrepresentation and flat out IRRESPONSIBLE on the companys part.On top of that, you cannot call in and cancel your membership. You call and they give you an email address to contact (and a promise to respond in 48 hours). When you end up emailing, dont expect them to respond in any timely manner. I called to complain and found out only one person handles gym cancellations and (of course) shes very behind. Please pay attention to all of these reviews from people who have tried to cancel. It IS a war to cancel and the company not only runs poor customer service, but by delaying cancellations and charging for extra months, is stealing money from customers.I filed a consumer complaint, but doubt that will do any good. I hope yelp at least gets the idea out there that this place is run without a stitch of ethics.
The best serious lifting gym in SF. Have been going here for 2 days trial here Awesome equipment; clean; not too busy; friendly but not chatty fellow gymgoers. 3 Olympic racks, a squat rack, several Smith machines, The best option on sf!
Terrific gym! One of my favorite spots in the whole city. Everything a guy needs to get an advanced workout in and more!
Arnold would be disappointed. Amazing people but no apparent reinvestment in equipment. No safety standards on old equipment, and ownership who doesn’t care about maintaining what this gym was intended to be upon creating.
I wish they would upgrade the mens sauna. Its so weak, which probably explains why nobody uses it. New saunas are around $1,000. I joined this gym because its the only $100-range gym in the vicinity that has a sauna. But, its practically an empty perk. Without it, there isnt much difference between Worlds Gym and Fitness SF.
One of the best gyms in the city. Its a bit expensive but its way better than the average gyms I have used in the past.
I loved this gym, the staff was friendly and helpful AND they met me in the middle in my situation of needing a temporary pass. I was pleased with every part of the gym that I used and would def recommend going there if you have not tried it. The major PLUS to this gym is that they have CROSSFIT in the back as well.
Probably the best gym in SF if not one of the best Ive been to. The people are totally friendly and when I went in for my 3 free day pass (found online) there were no questions involved. No sales-people who needed to take me on a tour and find out what plan I wanted to sign up for before letting me get my own feel of the gym. So far so great. The weight room is rather large and they even have their own Cross Fit section for all the crazy fitness junkies for when theyre teaching classes. The cardio equipment could be facing towards the window as opposed to the direction of the weight lifters. Although, I guess most people wouldnt complain about the lack of view. There is more cardio equipment upstairs if you want to get away from everyone below.Upstairs also lies a few different exercise rooms which are used for various classes such as spin, Insanity courses, and yoga. Its also much quieter upstairs when no classes are going on so feel free to grab a bike and watch some tv or read.
The best serious lifting gym in SF. Have been going here for 12 years. Awesome equipment; clean; not too busy; friendly but not chatty fellow gymgoers. 3 Olympic racks, a squat rack, several Smith machines, and lots of heading your dumbbells. Of you really want to advance, train with Ricky LaRocca in the specialized Train Tough training area.
Friendly place; I compared it to SF SOMA, and this place just seems way more laid back and down to earth. There’s plenty of machines and room, although I heard it does get crowded after 5pm.
Not crowded okay prices
I began to take lifting more seriously and world gym helped me up my workouts. People here are inspiring and truly motivating
Its an okay gym. It never gets too too packed, but it can definitely be busy. The equipment is nothing fancy, but it gets the job done and its pretty well maintained.
The gym seems to pride its self on being old school but uses this as an excuse to have old and broken equipment. Many of the dumbbells are mismatched grips and bent and loose. When cancelling my membership I was forced to pay for an additional month because they have a 30 day notice clause that was not discussed when signing up. I missed the 30 day notice by 3 days and they were too greedy to forgo the 1 month of my dues.Management should re-evaluate their priorities...
Great gym. Everyone is there to focus on their workout. All the equipment you would need, from machines to Oly platforms.
One of the few gyms with platforms for olympic lifting. It also has free spin and TRX classes my girlfriend takes advantage of. Not glitzy but then its at least priced appropriately.
Total scam, poor CSI applied for a free pass (trial) and got no reply. Showed off at the gym, asked about the free trial and they said they didnt have any available. I paid the daily 30USD entrance, then I was able to retrieve the screenshot of the free pass form I had applied for. The lady started asking me questions (I am moving to the area next month) and then admitted there was a 3-day free pass available which she did not mention before. I wasnt offered any compensation/alternative deal nor asked if I wanted to have a tour of the facilities. Total scam and rude behavior. The machines were ok, a bit aged. Terrible customer services - Id never sign up for membership.
Love this place, clean, very spacious inside, have a plenty of machines and not super crowded, great plus to me will be plenty of parking at night time, yet make sure not to leave anything valuable showing in your car as the area is a bit sketchy for night time.
Awesome no-frills gym with Olympic weightlifting equipment.
Large assortment of equipment catering to all types of lifters, and many nice accessory training tools (TRX, punching bags, etc) as well.
Best gym in sf for powerlifters. Four squat racks, three deadlift platforms, bumpers, chalk, reverse hyper, and I dont feel super self conscious when I use a squat suit.I do wish they had chains and bands but feh, u cant have it all
Friendly staff. Clean facilities. Convenient location.
Terrible staff, the lockers are disgusting and the machines are falling apart. Avoid at all costs.
Best gym in san francisco!
Best serious weightlifting gym in San Francisco.

The only gym at this price point with 3 Olympic platforms and 4 squat rack.
