Clean, everyone wearing masks. Not everybody cleaning equipment after they use it. Ill say 75%. Good overall but it can be enforced for everyones health benefits.
Signed up, wasted my money.I called early this morning. I had just signed up. Wanted to reserve time this evening. Was told to call back in an hour if the app didnt work. Which it has yet to work, even after registering my fingerprint. The same guy tells me oh yeah, were booked up, try stopping by and see if we have walk-ins. This system is not working for people who actually have a job to go to. Just an absolute waste of my time and money.
This is a great gym. Great staff and clean. My only complaint would be a small free weights section. However, for $10 a month still the best deal around for a gym membership.

A good, clean gym with multiple levels. Its conveniently located downtown, and the staff have always been very nice. My only complaint is the size of the locker room; especially the locker area. When its busy, you can barely get to your locker. I know its a city gym, but I think it could have been designed a bit better.
Love this location, street parking pretty open at night, thats the only time Ill come here since its such a populated area. Very clean and great employees
If youre looking for a lousy gym with broken equipment where no one cares about your security - 24 hours on California is the right choice for you!My purse with a laptop, wallet, and clothes was stolen from a locked locker last Friday and the management could not care less about the incident. There is zero communication between team members and management, every time I called them, the next person I spoke with seemed like they heard this story for the first time. Moreover, when I called the following Monday, I was told that there were locker break-ins happening during the weekend, so the management would look at the cameras. However, when I came in in person, this statement was denied. Apparently, theft is so common at this gym that the management decided that denying it is the most effective strategy. Even when I provided a police report number, no one ever contacted police to provide the footage.Not only there was no manager on duty when the theft has happened, but also no one ever contacted me afterwards.Joseph, who called himself the GM and sounded overly sassy, refused to discuss any details of the video review. I am a customer and a victim of your negligence and you refuse to provide any updates of your investigation? I guess thats because no one ever bothered to look at the cameras.Dear 24 hours, why do you even have these cameras and fingerprint check ins if when something happens you dont even bother reviewing all of the evidence thats right in front of you?!
Reasonable equipment. FILTHY facility. Ive been in well over 500 gyms world wide and this is one of the dirtiest.
Ive been going to this gym since 2010 and its only been getting better. For 20 dollars month, Im more than happy with the new equipment and excellent staff which make this gym definitely 5 stars.
Great location to get a workout while at work. Big plus - the place is not crowded on weekend mornings and weekday nights. The weight room in the basement is very clean compared to other 24 hour fitness locations. And all the machines are operable.Locker room can get a bit cramped but thats expected. Found a locker with no problem. Facilities are fairly clean as well.Only street parking, so come early in the morning or after 6pm (to avoid the parking meter) or the weekends.
Clean enough, havent had issues with water temperature yet. Not truly a 24/7 gym... check hours on weekends.
From the street you can see rows of elliptical machines, but once you get inside, you realize that many of them are not in use because half of the elliptical machines are minimally functional -- resistance is stuck at the easiest level, and the buttons on the controller are broken.Focus on cleanliness in the locker rooms varies over time. Sometimes ok, other times pretty dirty.24 hour fitness could fix these two issues by spending a little $$$ to fix equipment and by hiring managers that are focused on results. If they would do this, I would give this facility 4 or 5 stars.
I got my laptop stolen. Someone broke my lock and took everything. Be really careful which lock you use.

Niekas classes will whip you into shape! Shes a great instructor for both men and women and you will have fun! The equipment upstairs is very old though I would go to a different gym if you just want to use the the machines and weights.
I see some entitled people commenting here, and I feel for the old lady working hard here whom he harshly criticized. Wear a slipper when you come to a communal showers dumb***, and stop complaining about your nasty feet. Now I feel disgusted walking on the same floor you walked on. Why do you enjoy criticizing hard working servers and cleaning ladies btw? I see you love leaving 1-star to businesses who smells an entitled and spoiled brat. Anyways, the showers were closed for a few hours when I came here, but unlike some other people, I understood and patiently waited until maintenance completed their work. Meanwhile I got a good workout while waiting.
Terrible but no choice when you in downtown and they know it and abusing it. Because even with new machines they are standing no functional because of screw missing etc, something what it takes 5 seconds for a kid to do. Instead, in best case scenario youll see a sticker non functional and it will stay like that for a months and month and month.... nobody cares inside about ANYTHING. Gym itself are good equipped, but management team is....
Average cleanliness as far as 24 hr Fitness go, in my opinion. The spa area is really cool though, its like an open garden area in the middle of the facility.The arrangement of the weight equipment is a little weird. Like having the cable machine and some of the curl bars upstairs with the cardio. Other than that, pretty nice location.
Great place to workout, great machines, but the hot water is not working and that sucks if you want to take a shower.. almost a month that is not hot water!!!
One of the better 24 hours in the city. Basement is recently remodeled with all new equipment. They are still missing some basics and the benches they chose are horrible (bulky and oddly tall). Overall still a solid gym and my primary at the moment.
Well Im in town doing a little bit of work through the night. all about now get the job done! $ having a place to go youre always welcome no matter what city Im in havent actually seen the gym but based on the reviews of all the whiners that I read they probably Im not the Gladiator types worrying about their toes in the shower and disparaging the workers! individuals who our humble like the people working on a cruise ship they cant afford the trip but they keep making it and get to live it . to be servants not making a lot of money I travel all over and a member since the nineties by another name so lucky am I. To always have a home away from home since there are lots of gyms maybe those guys are just lazy cant make it to the one further so I say if you dont like it germophobic play with your muscles Someplace Else just like to thank 24 Hour Fitness 4 always being there for me and give me choices as to what I want to do do or the kind of people I want to hang with so Im giving this gym a three-star simply because of the guys to go to this gym and Im going to head over to the other one with those guys
I like hitting this gym before work. Around 7am the machines and free weights are generally pretty available. Id like to try their rooftop hot tub at some point but I never remember to bring my bathing suit.
Overall its clean and has a good amount of equipment. There are two locker rooms, the standard one has a quirky layout. Nothing to complain about though.
It was cheap but so dirty. You need to share shower and rocker rooms with homeless people. I got pseudomonas aeruginosa from its jacuzzi and made me go to hospital. My husband also got infection.
The sauna is been dirty for. the pass 20 mins I told the maintenance lady to clean it and she said she is leaving. I told her to send someone to do it she said at midnight. Is 9:13pm right now. Meaning it will remain dirty and bacteria multiplies every 2 hours. I really started developing fungus on my feet ever since I started coming here. This place is disgusting for the 40 a month everyone pays.
I am a member of 24 Hour Fitness because their gyms in the east bay are amazing. This location has horrible machines which are not hooked up to a TV. There are just monitors with no volume and no hook-ups for ear buds. The treadmills are extremely loud and several of them shake. Some even gave me electric shocks. Most recently, I lightly hit the monitor while I was tying my shoe and it it actually almost fell off and was crooked. I had to readjust myself. Otherwise, staff is nice and it is not very crowded....they just need to invest in new machines!!!!!
The locker room is typically crowded in the AM, and somewhat dirty. But the free weights and power lifting portion of the gym is well kept, and well equipped. If youre looking for a decent place to get squats, deadlifting, and bench in, this is a good spot.
Great weight room with large set of dumbbells and some barbells. Its unbelievable busy M-F till about 7pm. Recommend going late to skip the crowd.
The equipment is run down and broken. The cardio equipment is constantly out of service. The downstairs weight room with all the new machines is not ventilated and smells awful. I do not recommend this gym.
I went for a tour and trial as its in a convenient location. My expectations werent great to begin with and I didnt mind that the place is a bit dated overall. The equipment is quite neglected though and it didnt look clean. Almost all of the stationary bikes had broken foot straps and looked like they were barely functioning (a lot of them actually didnt). In addition, the sales guy tried to charge me for the trial, when there is a free offer online. Which he only told me about when I asked several times.
You better hope nobody harasses you at this location because the staff will shrug their shoulders and do absolutely nothing about it. They dont care.
They normally charge me more and sometimes twice. Be careful check your bank statement all the times.
If all the machines all worked, id give it more stars. i pay a lot of money to this place monthly and the least they could do is have zero broken machines, especially during rush hour when all of the financial district gets off of work and goes to the gym. The place is clean, though, but cramped. Its a small gym but it has all I need to get a good workout in. The employees arent always the friendliest as it would be nice if I was shown a smile or some form of kind gesture being that its costing me almost $50/mo to workout there. But yeah, 3 stars for being a place I could get a good workout in, in under an hour (depending how long I have to wait for a treadmill lol)
I have to say that after my last review the people at Chuze have really tried and have made up for the bad review and have corrected some of the negative aspects that I had previously written about. Thank you Ian and Cory for making me feel like a valued customer.
Good location, great fitness classes, just ok equipement, locker rooms are disguisting and although there is sauna/hot tub I would never use them they are dirty. Overall it is what it is and I go to the gym because it has multiple locations (it is nice even when I travel to other states most of the time they have a gym that I can attend) and I do enjoy the classes.
Great clean gym with quite a few exercise options. Yoga classes are really good too.
Gets crowded right after work but its fine if you go before or during lunch. Super convenient location for those who work in the financial district. Not the biggest place, but good enough for a quick workout.
The only reason i go to this gym is the convenience of its location. The people running this location do not have any pride or passion. It took months to fix a broken shower curtain, something that would cost like $10.The layout of the mens bathroom is really poor. You have to walk through the showers to get to the toilet. Think about what people are dragging through the shower area on their feet. Gross. The change area is way too small.The basement weight room has two squat racks (and one of those squat racks that is fixed on rails) which are always being used. You can never get a spot and then when you do, people are constantly bugging you for a spot. The basement area is filled with machines that barely ever get used which is annoying because on Mondays and Tuesdays its really packed in there.
This low cost gym is a good bare bones place to get your sweat on. Not very flashy and management doesnt seem to care much to make upgrades or keep things like paper towels and TP stocked or fix broken showers but you get what you pay for. Locker room is too small and can get very cramped in the mornings.
Multi level, outdoor co-ed sauna, steam room and hot tub. Great gym, However, The inside of sauna smells really strong body odor. I’ve been to quite a few places with sauna and this one smells really bad. Street parking for this who drive, which can be tricky.
Guys, you need to pump more fresh air into the basement area during the busy hours (5-6pm). I cant breathe in here😵
I really like how clean this gym is and that the machines work. The only issue is some of the ellipticals are on the fritz. The front desk people are sweet.
Good full service gym. 50 Cal mens locker room tends to lack in cleanliness. Overall my favorite gym of the 24s in SF. Jacuzzi is here. Friendly staff. Most crowded between 5-8 p.m.

Its amazing how so many things can fit into this little place - gym, pool, saunas, change rooms, showers, and so on.
The weight room in the basement has a good amount of equipment, all of it new as of 2014 or 2015. It gets too crowded on weekdays from 5-7 pm but otherwise is large enough for the number of users.
The week of 1/22/19, 24hr fitness on California x Drumm did a major replacement of cardiology machines; trendmills, bicycles, skimaster, etc. Today I returned and found a whole long row of trendmills all with new new parts and all working. It was -- AMAZING! Even the outdoor hot tub is humming! I couldnt be happier.Well, I was at YMCA Embarcadero for years. I paid much more. And I was second class to families and teens. Then, I was at Planet fitness for less than a month. There was absolutely no empty floor for stretch out.24Hr Fitness on California has 2 floors; 2nd floor look out to Drumm x Calif St. It is airy and spacious. Basement also got class rooms, more machines and weights. This is the gym that I finally feel like home. Highly recommended.It now has $0 intiation fee if you add friend / family. They also get one-month free. It costs only $36/mo. It is a GREAT deal!

This is a practical, reasonably priced gym that has a wide range of classes. Each location can be different from any other and there are different pricing tiers.
A renaming ish in order, if the place ish only open during specific day time hours.In order to retain the 24 hour brand affiliation.As such having limited hours, to discourage the patronage of undesirables - like the homeless presence. Of non members trying to get in to use the facilities.It ish feasible to keep the logo, but renaming the place so that potential users will not have to be disappointed when they arrive prior to 7 am and find the doors locked and inaccessible.Like the name of the building plus gym or fitness, with the 24 hour logo in lower case.
Its convenient if you work in the financial district. This gym is busy so their equipment is always in need of maintenance
Many broken machines, classes get canceled 1 hour before they should start... Even when they know 1 week upfront that they dont have the instructor (because he announced he wont be here), they still leave the class on the schedule and make us think they have a substitute, we get there and theres no class!

Ive been going here for several years and it is consistently sub-par. The layout is OK considering the space theyve had to work with, but they changed their best class space (because of noise complaints) for a smaller. below-ground space that is constantly packed during their popular classes and is obstructed with several building support columns in the middle of the workout floor.They regularly attempt to implement a numbered pass admittance for the popular Group-X classes, however they almost never have any employee down to collect them before class time, so everyone just goes in when the previous class empties out making the pass system a pointless exercise.The mens locker room is tight and people are generally considerate, however it is frequently dirty and sloppy wet with towels from a few inconsiderate patrons that really do well at giving your immune system a workout as well.The biggest issue I have is with the poorly maintained equipment. The treadmills are the most heavily used machines and several are frequently broken for weeks - in fact any machine that breaks will be broken for weeks before attended to (I normally use whichever stationary cycle is still working). Frequently, machines will be broken and not tagged despite having the staff notified, so members will repeatedly jump on them expecting to get a workout only to try in vain to get the machine to work and walk away frustrated to try another one - I see this every day I go there.The only reason I keep coming back is for its proximity to my work and the Group-X classes which are generally very well done and led with enthusiastic people. If it werent for the Les Mills class leaders I would have quit this place long ago.
Every time I enter the gym I feel like Im back in the 90s, cause all the equipments all super old, most of the bikes are rusty, so as the equipment. I regretted changing to this location and Ill change again.
Very good location but the treadmills are mostly broken.
This gym always feels dirty and run down. Half of the treadmills dont work and the other half are covered in sweat droplets and have things broken off or feel like theyre going to break at any minute.
Great price gym... but it is what it is. Small sauna and hot tub included.

Most 24 hour fitnesses need help, but this one is really bad. If I worked here, I would be embarrassed. Theres rows of broken elliptical machines, the mens bathroom reeks of piss and the ventilation system is clogged and a health hazard. This place should be on a reality show called Gym Nightmares.

They have a variety of classes from zumba to yoga. you can get a discount if you sign up with your school or company which makes it very affordable

Place does not get cleaned like it should and on weekends this place is not open 24hrs. I got locked in on saturday night and had to wait for the guy to let me out after looking for an emergency exit which there isnt one. 24hr fitness means 24hrs, not 24hrs sometimes..... Frowns and shakes head

Absolute worst option and worst case scenario for a gym.
No towel service for a long time, half of the showers are broken, many equipments have already malfunctioned and lack of maintenance.
Mens showers are awful, exercise equipment damaged.
The people there are horrible people...rude and unkind.
