A bit claustrophobic and only one dedicated bench. Great views and an otherwise solid location though. Just make sure to go at low times if at all possible (middle of day or early AM)
Since discovering the perfect dress at this store, this is my first and final shopping trip. Shell examine you and determine what seems to be spectacular. The salespeople were friendly, knowledgeable, and made me feel unique. As a consequence, Im going to tell everyone I know!
Been coming to Fitness SF Embarcadero for over a year now, and have had good experiences thus far.The equipment are essentially all new and up to date. The gym isn’t very crowded on weekends, thankfully. The weekday rush tapers out around 7 pm (the gym is located at the base of two massive business buildings, so set expectations during the morning and day accordingly). There’s a nice outdoor space on the third floor where I like to row if the weather is fair.
Good club, clean, a lot of equipment
Fitness SF at the Embarcadero became a second home to me. The staff are so friendly. Annabelle who signed me up made sure that every question I had was answered and that I was helped if ever needed. She signed me up with Walt, a personal trainer, and he did an amazing job. Walts attention to detail, amazing attitude, and happy energy made coming to our sessions a blast. All the equipment is brand new and the facility itself is fantastic. I would highly recommend Fitness SF.
Good equipments and location. But showering experience is bad. Please install hooks in the shower rooms for clothes and towels. Also, the water is too small and it sometimes gets too hot and turning the handle does not change the temperature. The ventilation in the weights area is not good; need to go upstairs for fresh air after 20 min workout there.
UPDATE: thanks to the owner for looking into this matter. I have to report though that matters got worse, not better! In fact now not only the shower water is a trickle, but the water is borderline cold...come on, what next? Admittedly it is only 2 days after the owners intervention, so I will give it another couple of weeks, then its bye bye Fitness SF, because this is just talking advantage of your location to avoid paying water bills at the expense of your customers. Planet Fitness, just a few blocks away, which I tried before, may not look as fancy, but at least they can get their showers working normally, and if they can, why cant you?BEWARE: showers with just about a trickle of water and no temperature control. This gym could be ideal, given the great location and recent renovation, yet you have to be prepared to probably spend twice as much time showering as you normally do as the water pressure is very low, and it practically vanished one day last week!!! If you are soaping properly, you will need a decent amount of water at a reasonable pressure to remove that soap or it will take you some time, it is just that simple a principle.Everybody is understandably concerned about limiting water consumption in California, but this is really not the way to achieve that, as one will spend more time under the trickling water, with worse results for all the gym users (poor washing and longer queues). Furthermore there is no water temperature control, the first time I experience such a thing after having worked out at gyms all over the world!I am not quite sure why other gyms in the Fitness SF chain dont have this problem, while this one at Embarcadero just dont seem to be able to figure it out: it shouldnt be that difficult.Well, my friends and I will have to move to one of the many other gyms in the neighborhood if this issue doesnt get fixed, thats how annoying this problem is.
Worst customer service. I tried to cancel my membership in November and they apparently dont teach their staff how to do it properly? I stopped getting charged so I assumed it had been cancelled but I suddenly got a 350 dollar charge months later in January from fitness sf. I contacted them by phone and they were extremely defensive and uninterested in helping. They then told me to complain by email. No one responded to my email for days and when they finally did, they didnt address the issue of a sudden charge of 350 dollars. All they said was that my membership had never been cancelled and that I can enjoy the gym until Feb 28. I replied again wanting to know why they stopped charging me if my membership was never cancelled and then they suddenly decided to charge in January. No response yet.
Clean and uncrowded
It will get your mind and body right, all in one hour. He makes sure that the exercises are challenging and has a killer playlist throughout the workout. He is a great person and will provide any answers to your fitness goals.
Smaller than other locations but convenient. Less busy now that the transbay location opened in December.
Decent place thats reasonably priced
Beautiful club, make sure you sign up for personal training. Absolutely incredible trainers across the entire Fitness SF brand.
The gym has been getting renovated for over a year. It’s still full of construction stuff. Has basic freeweights, sparse machines, and basic cardio. The roof deck is kind of cool. They are only interested in communicating with you when they want money. They pass the buck, and are slightly rude.
Wow. Its clear that fitness SF took over an existing gym and tried to open as quickly as possible. Its tough to find this place (pro tip: its on the 2nd floor of 2 embarcadero). The equipment is super old. And the space is tiny and spread across two floors. On the plus side the lockers are OK and it wasnt crowded on a Saturday. Do yourself a favor and go to the other locations until the upgrades are done.
I would give them 5 stars because i loveee how this location is turning out, but their hours are much to short. I understand theyre on a 9-5 area, but we arent all 9-5 :(
Alright everyone.. hold your breathe... this is going to be a long one.*I have only written about 3-5 yelp reviews in my entire life.. so please keep that in mind*This gym is absolutely amazing... I am so confused why there isnt a million plus 5 star reviews.Okay so let me give you a little bit of background information... I love working out and its a huge part of my lifestyle.. I workout typically 6 days a week. Some context: I was living on the East Coast for 2 years and moved back to the Bay Area (SF to be exact). I was on the hunt for a good gym (CLEAN CLEAN CLEAN, not overly packed so that I could actually use the equipment without twiddling my thumbs waiting for that next person to be done, and positive and inclusive environment, and something not too far from my place/work).I moved back to SF in August and LITERALLY not kidding, looked at 5+ different gyms:- YMCA Embarcadero - this gym straight up smelt like chlorine- 24 Hour Fitness Embarcadero - guys this gym smells so disgusting and is NOT clean at all. I literally would rather work out at home or on my balcony then go here.- Equinox - alright,I love the eucalyptus towels..and the gym is nice, BUT its literally PACKED PACKED every single day.. how am I supposed to workout waiting in 10-25+ min lines to use equipment. And how am I supposed to pay over $200 to wait in line?!?- Planet Fitness - doesnt meet up to my gym standards- Bay Club near Embarcadero - their is literally carpet where the weights are... it literally reminds you of an OLD OLD building.. not into it. Also this is about $200... not going to pay that for carpet near the weights.Alright so you guys get it.. I did my research and went way overboard in ensuring I find the best gym that I will be happy going to everyday. Finally, after feeling really upset/down since all the gyms werent great in SF.. I thought well I guess it cant hurt to check out ONE last gym. After stepping foot in Fitness SF Embarcadero I was introduced to Ralph. He was the one that gave me a tour and I was blown away by his demeanor and customer service. I could go on and on about Ralph, he is always happy, makes everyone feel welcome in the gym, and has great customer service.I know... I know this email sounds very repetitive, energetic, and a bit overly enthusiastic, but I want you to know truly how much this gym and environment has helped me in all aspects of my life. Ive gotten back into working out regularly and actually look forward to seeing Fitness SF Embarcadero employees.Point is: I am sure most of you want a gym that is 1) reasonably priced 2) CLEAN!!! 3) Positive EnvironmentTo be honest, I didnt care to pay a large amount for a gym if it met all of my needs but Equinox and Bay Club didnt meet all of them.Great pros about Fitness SF:- You can go to all of the locations with the membership you dont need to pay more- Outside turf which is awesome! You can bring equipment/weights/rowers out there and workout- Gym is never that packed at all which I love. Selfishly I dont want people to keep joining ;), but DAMN this is seriously a hidden gem!!- Great resources!! Khaliah and Leah are so nice and helpful! They are both personal trainers and always give me tips/advice to help me achieve my goals... FOR FREE!- I met the President (Zhou) after I joined and he went above and beyond and literally handed me his business card. What kind of President at any company does that?- They really care about their members and you will find the resources you need to achieve whatever goals you are after!I LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS GYM! Please feel free to message me directly if you have anymore questions. I PROMISE PROMISE you will not regret joining! So so glad I found this hidden gem!
Clean, lots of towels, showers are great.
All brand new, rarely crowded, IMMACULATE changing rooms and showers, excellent location, what else is there to love?
This is a new location and its ok but its super small and cramped. Dont ever think about going at rush hour. A lot of youngsters go here so expect them to be sitting on machines texting and facebooking instead of doing what is serious people go to a gym for....and thats to work out. Its frustrating to say the least.
This gym is absolutely amazing. Its clean, very reasonably priced, conveniently located, lots of equipment, never waiting long very equipment, and the staff are great. Not sure what else you would want in a gym. Ive been to many many gyms and this is by far the best gym Ive ever been to. The staff go out of there way to make you feel welcome and the trainers are really good, huge shoutout to Khaliouh. She also teaches a kettlebell class its literally a fraction of the cost of personal training and is the BEST CLASS IVE EVER TAKEN IN MY LIFE. I hate group classes and this is an amazing class with 4 people. Really good for mobility, hiit training, ect. I highly recommend this gym to anyone looking to not spend millions of dollars and looking for a clean gym where you can actually workout instead of waiting in line to use machines. This gym is awesome!!!!!!
Everything one needs to be successful. Fan bikes, ropes, for a HIIT trainer or cardio lovers delight
I love it best job ever
Pro tip the cardio section of the gym is on the top floor. The weights and locker rooms and showers are on level 2You can check in at locker level and just give your name on the cardio level
Small and the showers are not the best. Despite that it is a decent gym and it does the job.
I just joined recently. The renovations mean this gym now has everything u could possibly need to workout (Ive done everything from crossfit to P90 to spin). The only knock is that the gym is spread across 3 floors which is kinda wierd. Like going from the main weights and locker rooms to the cardio equipment requires u to go outside and up to the third floor.
Awesome staff, less crowded and the new updates have been great. Looking forward to through new weight room.
Brand new equipment and very clean change room. Its also not very busy, making the relatively small workout area acceptable.
Clean, good equipment and great staff
Great equipment
Very small, and very overcrowded
Set up is a little odd
Very good
Small, old.
