The other branches of YMCAs are already opened in the Bay area but this branches heavily lacking behind. Hope they open up soon.I received news that they wont open till September. This branch has terrible communication and does not keep the client updated on facility plans. I assume this has much to do with terrible management issues.

Wonderful,They have a well lit indoor SALTWATER swimming pool which I wanted because I am sensitive to chlorine,it provides more buoyancy, and the hotel we stayed in had no pool.They have an hour open swim for adults at spaced time intervals and lap lanes set up on part of the pool. It seems fairly clean with average lockers and showers.I have gone here several times on my visits to San Francisco.Since I was not a member there was a small fee,check their site for swim schedule and fees and remember to bring a lock. It was very easy to get to by bus it is really close to Peace plaza(Kinokuniya shopping mall).

Although I prefer Central Valley YMCA in San Jose, I do like the atmosphere for the Chinatown Branch! It has less free weights and circuit machines, but it is a very beautiful facility. Staff is nice!

Love their mission in supporting the community and its a clean and friendly environment.

Has potential- its in a historic building with beautiful Asian elements. BUT, the center is old and in disrepair. The day I went, there was a homeless man sleeping on a bench, a busted main access door, and some guy in the workout area 3rd floor literally dropping weights with a noisy bang in complete disregard to others. Mens locker room is in a dismal state - moldy shower curtains, low water pressure, and old lockers. A disagreeable old man staring down at me for trying to get to our lockers was upsetting. There is apparently a lot of disrespect problems here as there are many posters and signs asking people to be respectful. I was so uncomfortable with the members here, I will not be going back.

A great place for the community to mingle and communicate with each other.

The gym is actually relatively well equipped for both bodybuilding and powerlifting. The barbells arent the greatest quality but there are benches, a squat rack and a deadlift platform. Good enough if you are on holiday and is affordable at $15.

Clean, nice selection of machines, great courtyard with the preserved original outside of the building.

The water in the pool is too cold for kids. I brought my two kids to have fun, they all complain about the cold water. They really wanted to play a little longer but they were just shaking while they told me they were too cold to move.

The staff is very friendly and helpful. The facility is a pleasant place to exercise. Thank you Chinatown YMCA!

Summer camp classes are useless. Wasting time and money.

Great place, be careful though the pool closes 30 min before.

The front door staff isnt very accommodating but i love their youth programs.
