Worst experience ever. I went in thinking what a great concept for individual artists/instructors and those of us who like to take classes. Then I tried to buy a gift certificate for my best friends birthday. Went through the screens up to where I entered the payment info. Completed it and clicked enter...the screen went back to the payment info screen saying I had missing info. I did this three times and finally gave up. Figured I would contact tech-support and ask for help. Next morning however I discover in my online banking that I had been charged each time I entered that info. I contact them and got a very nice reply back saying that they would refund the money. I decided then to just buy a class instead of the gift certificate and that went through fine after spending a lot of time trying to figure out their whole “credits” vs straight payment screens. I waited… and waited… and emailed again… and again… and five more times. I never heard from them again and never received my refund. I therefore ended up paying $400 for a $100 course. thats a lot of money to lose to them just because their platform sucks. I’ll never use them again. Which is a shame as there are instructors with interesting classes I’d love to take. Just beware...

Found it on the app store...didnt have much to do on the weekend and signed up for a Thai cooking class last minute. Didnt expect the reservation request to be accepted with such short notice but it was!Had a great time cooking with my wife and other students. The instructor was very accommodating and energetic. She really made us feel at home at her spacious church tower kitchen space. The food was great and my wife and I now cook Thai on Thursdays.I would try another class soon.

Ive used Verlocal once. As an active individual, I do not like wasting my weekends since I only have a couple days to relax. Because of this, I thought it would be nice idea to go sightseeing. After seeing Verlocal on my friends newsfeed, I thought why not? so, I booked a ticket for Pauls Street Art Tour. The booking process was actually quite simple; it just required some time. Once I booked a ticket, I was able to get a notification from Verlocal, which was awesome.During the tour, I was able to get a good sense on how the Mission District has changed. Paul was a great guide and he was very interactive with everyone. He offered a lot of quick questions and trivia to everyone, which is totally different from a generic walking tour. I highly recommend his tour for anyone who loves to learn basic trivia and random facts.Overall, the experience was awesome. I would consider using Verlocal again whenever I am bored at home.

Beware! I got a gift card for my birthday and I cant use it. They will not refund the purchase price. I explained that during the PANDEMIC I cant use the product and will not be able to. They still wont be compassionate enough to refund the purchase price. Go local, buy directly from local merchants and cut out this service.

I used the Verlocal platform for about 5 years as a host to offer classes and was happy until January 2018. I started having to contact them to make sure I received class & gift certificate payments and to get students refunded because it wasn’t automatic when I canceled a class request. It became a major pain. This started around the time they started using Dwolla. I contacted them about my issue in Jan. 2018 and was told that if I use Paypal, they will pay me out the same day. I could then transfer the money to my bank account and that would take about 24 hours. This is a direct quote: “So youre looking at a 48 turn-around -- faster than Stripes 3 day settlement period.”  This didn’t happen.  When there was another delay in February, I contacted them and was told that when customers make a purchase, it takes about three days to clear and this is to make sure it is not fraudulent. If that was the case, then why did they tell me initially I could get payouts in about 1 day?! After pressuring them, they finally got my account squared away and I was receiving payments quickly. Then, again in March I had to contact them about another pending, delayed payment, and again in June about not receiving a gift certificate payment. I didn’t receive an answer so I eventually had to go on the website and do a live chat to get my issue resolved. The latest issue that made me cancel my account was after they dropped my pro subscription without talking with me first. I had another payment issue and had to get a student refunded, so I contacted them through the live chat. They did refund the student, but I complained about having to contact them so much about payments. There was no apology, but she only wrote “I see.” I was so frustrated that I canceled the chat. Well, I went to my account a little later to check on a customer and found that I no longer had access to my customers. She had canceled my pro subscription. I chatted again with her and she said they cancel subscriptions for those who take down the Verlocal calendar from their websites because many do business outside of Verlocal and Verlocal then doesn’t receive a commission. I never did this and was so angry that I was not consulted before they just dropped my subscription. I had removed the calendar because their commission was too high; Stripe is cheaper. No apologies from her for just dropping my subscription, so I closed my account. What a hassle! I have wasted so much time with this company!!

Great website! Dont know why I iddnt think of this idea earlier. Anyway, I tried a surf class, and had a blast! Ive always been a complete klutz but wanted to try it out. I ended up being pretty proficient by the end of the class (in my standards anyway)

Mexican mask making class had absolutely no teaching and was just weird. Very reminiscent of preschool. Dont expect professional level teaching here

I signed up for a soldering class thru this venue. The woman Christy Sears the owner of that August Axl Jewelry Studio in Venice; kept insisting on a conversation about an African American child with bad hair; and how she did not know about bad/ugly hair until she met that child. I am African American and I was very offended by her conversation that had nothing to do with soldering. If youre African American and would like to take a soldering class or jewelry making of any kind, spare your feelings and dollars and skip this one; go to Barnsdall or some other place.

If its possible, Ill give them zero star. Its just an advertising platform. It has completely no customer services here. I signed up a class and was not able to enter the host house since she cant hear the bell ring inside the house. Then I called Verlocal for a refund, they refused my request because they dont think it is their business and they want me to contact the host. Ok, I called the host and the host agreed to issue me a refund then she disappeared forever. So now, tell me this whole thing is not a scam. If verlocal has no responsibility in managing the relationship between customers and the hosts, its just an advertising agent.
