The best way to see the city. Oh yeah bring sun glasses n a Hoodie for 4 funny weather
Wow.... me n my wife book this activity for my birthday and it was a blast. We saw so many part of san francisco that we never know that it existed. Love it and will sure do it again.
Worth the money ! I took the 3 hour tour and I discovered a lot of stuff.
A must try ride in San Francisco. Want to have fun ? Rent a Go Car. I rented at Union Square Station. They provided helmets and a brief security video. The car is considered a 3 wheel motorcycle and its automatic. It rides more like a dune buggy than a motorcycle and you need to understand how to drive this, as its not like a car and does not have a reverse. Youll need to buy extra insurance coverage if you dont have motorcycle insurance. It does not go very fast but enough to be fun and dangerous if you are not serious. You can follow traffic easily. Follow audio instructions from GPS and stay on path to prevent uphill steep climbs that the car wont climb... seriously, one of you will have to get out and push. Its about 63$/hour and they add extra if you go beyond at a cheap rate $ per minute. We rented for about 90 min and I wished I had more time. Recommendations : check out a video on internet 1st. Rent for at least 2 hours. Go down Lombard St. and ride along Fishermans Wharf. Take your camera. Get a visual tablet GPS for 10$ extra and follow the path. Be a kid again and have fun !
We loved that attraction! Its really nice small cars, pretty fast, you may feel as you are driving low motorcycle :)GPS was really loud so you hear everything with no problems on the other hand stories wasnt really interesting and a lot of advertising :)One hour its not enough, you are going to be in rush, and every extra minute will cost you one dollar! 🤦🏼♀️Yes, weve paid additional 3$ ...But we really enjoyed our attraction, and stuff was very informative and friendly.Thank you!
So much fun! They even went above and beyond to help us get back to the train. Great service. I would definitely do it again
Such a waste of money. Overall, a terrible experience that we paid $98 for. They didn’t have enough of the right sized helmets. The cars navigation was so busted. We returned one car and they switched it out for another. The second one also had navigation that was lagging, so it didn’t match with any of the stops. The whole vehicle right was bumpy and the motor had limited power. Finally we decided it wasn’t any fun and went to return the car. I asked if they could discount our ride, considering the equipment didn’t work properly and his response was “but then I’d need to ask a manager”. I asked for him to go find the manager and he walked outside and then came back in and said he couldn’t find him. Then he said he already charged our card. At this point this company had wasted enough of our life, so we just left. Save yourself the money, the time and the unpleasant experience and do a hard pass on this place.
Was the best experience Ive had in San Francisco. After visiting multiple times i never got to see as much as I did as when i was in a gocar. My wife and i will definitely be doing this again.
The cars are fun to drive but my GPS didnt work so I spent part of my time trying to use the printed map. Dont get less than an hour. You really need a few hours if you want to really see the city and get out to take pictures.
I have used go cars before and knew it would be fun. Great way to see SF highlights. Recommend full day so you are not rushed. Ray was excellent when our original car was not running right and we had to end our full day tour several hours early which we were very sad to do. They made it up to us by letting us take out a new car the next day. Very much appreciated!
Rented from Union square location. Showed up 15 minutes before 9 a.m. reservation and the place was not open. Attendant spent about 20 minutes setting stuff up and ignoring us before we were all herded into the small building for paperwork and a safety video. By the end he had warmed up and was quite helpful. The go car was fun to drive but tight for a big dude like me. The GPS is helpful unless you stray off course at which point it just goes quiet. Map reading skill is a plus. Overall recommend. This is a very fun way to see the city.
We had a group of 6 cars go out for a tour. These little things are actually a lot of fun. They are totally gutless and struggle up hills, but I would definitely do it again.
Only good if you follow the routes the entire time. It was incredibly confusing to get back to the shop when our time was ending. The tablets that show navigation should be used in all of the cars. This would make it feel much more safe.
Not a great experience. Interesting concept but they do not have the tech to support it. Worked well for about three blocks and then I guess we made a wrong turn and the GPS shutdown completely. When we told customer service they said too bad so sad. Would recommend avoiding, there are better ways to see the city
The ride was good. Not a lot you can do in 1 hour so it kind of gets expensive. Also, fine print - they make you sign a lot of waivers and charge your card a $500 deposit if you decline insurance which you most probably would since it costs $20 by itself.
Unprofessional and unsafe. The people working at the Union Station location were rude, the training was brief and there were not options for tailoring the tour and have the GPS match. In addition, there was absolutely no way to have completed a full tour in the allotted time frame with downtown traffic. It is extremely difficult to initially pull out of this location and the verbal directions you receive from the employees are done at hyper speed. The car we were given had break handles that stuck and a throttle that barely made the car go unless you revved it all the way back. This experience was so unsafe that I used my own GPS to cut the tour short and return the car to the other location.
Loved it. Driving those little cars around was awesome, people taking photos and cheering at us.... fantastic.Only down side was the GPS lost signal a lot or the voice would cut off right in the middle of telling us where to go or what street to turn on so we ended up getting lost at least 7 times, thank God for my phone GPS to get us back on track.Well worth a visit and so much fun. Cant wait to do it again
We happen to stay right next to this GoCar location and decided to take a ride. It was awesome! That was the most entertaining and adventurous way to go on sightseeing.Car engine is powerful enough, accelerates quick. A little confusing controls at the beginning but it’s easy to get used to them.Tips: learn map they have in a car before you start your trip. It’s really hard to track map once you start driving and we got lost several times as gps might not work all the time.Tighten helmet harness so that it’s snug enough not to fly away if something happens.Ask to wipe mirrors. Ours were a little dirty and became noticeable when driving.Call your auto insurance company and ask if they cover 3-wheel car rentals.
Expensive and fine print adds more $$ since you have to buy motorcycle insurance. GPS guided tour (no screen by the way, just audio) is slow and if you make a wrong turn, youre stranded.
DO NOT RENT FROMT THIS LOCATION ... first let me tell you that these cars are very slow and barely work. You will be in bumper to bumper traffic in SF so that reason alone is a reason not to rent from here (perhaps at Pier 39 where there is less traffic). But let me tell you a little about our experience. We went on Friday during the day and rented 3 cars. Myself and my 6 year old in one car, my husband in one car and my sister and her son in the 3rd car. We rented for one hour to do the loop around downtown. My son was super excited and begged us to rent these. The people who run this are very rude. We rented our cars they give you a brief description of how the cars start and run but no direction on what to do when they stop running or the navigation stops working. My navigation stopped running completely. My husband tried to help me and my son and pulled over. He tapped our car (this was not a hard hit) and the entire front end split open. His navigation also stopped working. When the navigation stops working you have to read a map. If you are with a six year old you have to drive the car and read this map in the middle of traffic. The worse part was that not only were we charged $150 for the hit to the car (we purchased insurance or it would have been more). They charged us the extra time it took because our navigation stopped working. It was awful. I wold not recommend. Great concept but the people and equipment are horrible.
Amazing experience. Fudge and entertaining. We have gone 3 times.
Cant give it a 5 stars. Our GPS went out within 5 minutes! Was with other family members who took the lead, their GPS was working. Saw alot of sights, had a blast. Easy to drive. Great way to tour the city at your own pace. Drove down Lombard!!
Absolutely had a blast, my husband and I did this back on December 30, 2018. We will definitely do this again!!
Fun experience though I would not recommend two adults going in one car. The car is not powerful and had trouble getting up some hills with two people in the car. However, we had not taken the recommended route which I would assume to be a much easier drive than whatever route I had taken. Also, if you get the GO Card, this is the only location that will actually accept it.
.........At Go Car San Francisco, I had a great time, but only because I was in vehicle alone..........The Go Car Vehicle Registration, which by California (CA.) law must be on the vehicle, look to see the size of the motor...........If the motor is less than 50 cc dont go because the motor is not big enough for two adults to go up hill, there are many steep mountains in San Francisco.(S.F.). Someone will have to get out and walk..........There is much better performance with just one adult in the Go Car.Do not do what I did and take the Go Car across the Golden Gate Bridge. The people at the toll gate will let you pass but it is not safe. The regular high winds pushed me off track several feet. I had to go slow, too slow for highway..........I got off the designated path and my tour, GPS guided voice, would not reconnect. I recommend going in a group but go in separate vehicles.
We really enjoyed this experience but only let down was the paper work and service at time of collection. Give yourselves at least 3-4 hours to cover the parks. Early bird works well due to discount and quieter roads!
The GoCars are overpriced, and emit toxic emissions which are harmful to the drivers and passengers of the GoCars and people exposed to the exhaust from them. They’re also dangerous, loud, get you stuck in traffic, and despised by many in the local community. Instead of renting here, rent a Lyft Bay Wheels bike or JUMP (Uber) bike. They have electric bikes which will take you over the hills and it’s a much cheaper, safer, and more fun way to see the city. Have fun!
This is a must for anyone who isnt afraid to have a great time and look silly doing it! The tour is a lot of fun, and very educational!
Fantastic way to see San Francisco!!!! Definitely get the bigger engine. Also, 2 hours isnt enough, for the best tour get 3 hours. They close early, so get there early.
I love itGreat experience
This is so much fun. Ive done it twice over the last ten years. The last time we went, the car was a little rundown, and fitting two average sized adults was not the most comfortable.
Must try it when you get to San Francisco, the gos system they have could use with an upgrade but its all good regardless!
This was definitely an experience. A go car is essentially a retrofitted motorcycle. You can fit two folks into the car and has very little trunk space. Since it is registered as a motorcycle, you need to wear helmets but no seat belts. We had booked for a 5 hour window online. Now, in retrospect, if you want to stop at all points in the tour, then it is going to take way more. If you are looking for just a go car experience, then 5 is too much. Opt for 3 hours. We started at the go car office at union square. The issue with this office is that they are extremely disorganized. Expect at least 45 min of delay for them to process and get you started. Even if you have signed the online waiver form, you still need to pick out insurance (because it is registered as a motorcycle you might not be able to use your car insurance apparently). Also, I would strongly urge that you go with the gps tablet upgrade, otherwise the experience isn’t great. After we finished our paperwork, we started on the path. The problem with the gps tablet was that it was too slow to update, so we were already crossing streets before the gps showed it. After getting used to it (or anticipating it) the experience became a little better. You have to also be ready for constant rattling sound by the engine and the smoke other cars as you drive by San Fran. Overall the entire package, came up to $300. If you ask me whether I would do it again, hmmmmm probably not...
Fun great way to explore the city. Just be careful of traffic though.
Horrible customer service. The guy managing the booth made us wait outside with our 6 year old for 40 mins while he had lunch. It was ok to have lunch but despite repeatedly asking how long he was going to be, he kept waving us away. Never experienced this bad of a service.
The $176 is for only ONE car. Booked a month in advance and get there only to find out it would cost almoat $500 for two cars. Waste of time.
We rented two 50cc go cars from the fishermans wharf location. My 9 year old son and I were in one. My wife and 11 year old daughter were in the other. Even though the ride was horrible, the engine was loud and only one speaker worked on our gocar, my son and I had a pretty good time. My wife and daughter however, had a gocar that would randomly cut off at the worst possible times. It was dangerous. It just shut off 4-5 times. The last time she was coming up Hyde street (on the tour) and it just shut off on the cable car tracks. Some bystanders had to come to her rescue and push her and my daughter out of the way. We got it started again and we just tried to head back to turn it in and call it a day. It shut down again, just as we were trying to cross a busy street.Stuff happens. I get that. But when we finally got back to home base and we explained what happened there was not even a single apology. They agreed to not charge us for the 20 minutes over our allotted time (all of which was due to breakdowns). Further, they complained that that we should have called them and waited for them to come out when it cut out...they also accused us of going off route (we didnt). When I explained that the car should not just shut down randomly he said Look these 50cc cars are old technology. They barely work at all. This is a good concept but run by bad people with no idea of customer service. As we walked away, they sent out another couple in the same car that we just old them was dangerous in that it shut down randomly.
The best and most fun tour you could do! Saw the whole of San Fran without having to rush and while having fun in a scooter/go kart!
Im afraid of go cars but for those that arent if you tip well you get inside scoop of where to going sf
A lot of fun if there is a car available.
An absolute blast and a great way to see downtown. I have done it twice now.
Wonderful experience. Must do in SFO
A great way to explore the city. Twin peaks is a must see.
Hope that the personel are great.
Food took a very long time. Wasnt very warm. Sliders looked thrown together.
Awesome tour and fun city to zip around in.
This was the WORSE customer service exerience that I have ever had !!I am so dissapointed and I do not recommend going to this location. Our bad experience started right when we got there. There is a guy who works there by the name SERVIOR, he was totally rude to us........ firstable..he did not acknowledged us when we got there, barely gave us eye contact and he was very short with his answers.............when we were about to leave for our tour, he was not happy when we asked basic questions, he was rude with and with a bad attitude!!!!5 minutes after we left the GPS in the car will not work, so we drive back to the location..he was upset but he fixed it.....the GPS will work off and on during our tour to the point where we were so frustrated and did not enjoy our tour. When we got back he wanted to charge for the extra time that we were LOST due to no GPS working...We were so upset that I called the manager but with the surprise that the manager by the name BRAD SIDES was WORSE than his employee......when I said to him that we were lost for 30 minutes because the GPS was not working, he replied to me that maybe we werent working and he hunged up on me !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!So RUDEE!!! I COULDNT BELIEVE THIS TREATMENT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!I taken this tour in Barcelona but I will never ever do it again !!!!the worse experience ever !!!!!!
Its super annoying how loud the GPS system is
Maybe a bit expensive but offers a great way to explore the city.
The tour and the audio and the idea are cool. The equipment is inferior and the people are rude
Great fun and good team
Bad conditions and rules.
Askefd a question
Nice adventure
Terrible customer service
Interesting ways to travel around the city, especially on up and down streets like San Francisco
I borrowed two, and I was embarrassed to pay a total of $ 1,000 for a deposit of $ 500 per deposit. I will give you a refund within a few days and I would like to believe that the refund process will be OK.My voice was too loud than I expected, so I was embarrassed again, my husband was not having fun, and I did not want people to look at it in ten minutes, and my car was out of GPS.It was cool when I was driving with the wind, but it was fun when I was going uphill.
Very nice activity to discover the city in a unique way when you dont have much time to visit everything.
Good idea to get to know the city in a short time
The proposal is very interesting
You can go with a Japanese license (motorcycle?). One hour 6800 yen. Helmet wearing
Great tour, great Mario !!!
Great location, good cars
A different way of knowing San Francisco, 👌🏼👌🏼
