I moved to the Clairemont area earlier this year but havent had my nails done since before COVID. I chose Nails & Spa by Lauren due to the proximity to my house and I am so happy I did! I called to check availability before arriving and they were able to take me right away. They checked my temperature at the door, I had to sign a COVID-related waiver, and everything was super clean. The prices are fair and they did a great job on my acrylics and pedicure. I love how everything turned out and will definitely be back!

I went with my mom to get our nails done. One of the workers that attended my mom. She was pressuring her hands too hard. Pulling her fingers too hard. Not very delicate with her work on the nails nor her hands/fingers. She was very rough and uncomfortable to work with. Nobody deserves this treatment. Especially a paying customer. I spoke to her manager about it. To make sure she doesn’t do this in the future with other people.

I absolutely love nails by lauren. They are always so welcoming when I come by. Ivy does the best acrylics and I’m a regular customer. They always get me in as soon as possible and are so kind!

I found this place on yelp and called in on my way home from work. I was so happy when Lauren was able to squeeze me in right away for an appointment! I havent gotten my nails done in months due to COVID and have been a little apprehensive going anywhere public. I arrived and Lauren was there to greet me/check me in. She takes your temperature, you sanitize your hands, fill out a form, and sanitize again. There is plenty of room for social distancing and all stations have plexiglass barriers between you and the technician.Amy was my technician and she was AMAZING! Ive been getting my nails done for years and she is truly the best one Ive ever had. She has been doing nails for over 17 years and is a true artist! Also, very friendly and nice to talk with :)Everyone was so nice! From the time I called in to book my appointment till the time I left, the service was fantastic! Definitely will be going back here as Ive found my new favorite nail salon in San Diego. Support this nail salon and pamper yourself!

Wish I lived in SD just so I could go back to this salon regulary. It was a fantastic experience, and the staff is highly skilled. The salon is also very clean and takes all covid precautions very seriously. Highly recommended.

Pretty good. They were nervous because of an upcoming inspection. It took 3 people to get my nails done, and they couldnt remove the previous powder gel. Odd. This is a week later, but you can see the bit of debris stuck in one nail. I let them pick the color and I hate it. The dirt is mine, lol!

I love this nail salon. They have great customer service, a ton of selections of colors- particularly gel nail color. Lauren remembers my name every time I come in to visit and the prices are low in comparison to other places ($27 for a gel manicure). The only downside is they are so good that they are always busy! Definitely make an appointment, go during the week if you can, or first thing in the morning when they open. They are very honest about being too busy and wont make you wait if they dont have time - just be prepared for that if you go during peak hours.

Lauren expects great customer service from her staff. The salon is always clean the staff is always friendly they all do fabulous work. For over a year now Amy has been doing my nails, and I always have wonderful compliments on them!

Nails & Spa By Lauren is the best place on the street! They do a great job that lasts a long time and they are so fun! Yens is so clean and they always do an excellent job! I especially love the fun holiday nails they do.

I love coming here. They’re attentive to your requests and always offer you hot tea or water when you arrive. The music is always calming, as well as the general atmosphere. After having negative and disappointing experiences at other nail salons, I always come back here. I won’t go anywhere else. Keep in mind that while they accept cards, you have to tip in cash. There’s an ATM outside but using it will probably result in additional bank fees, so I stop by the bank to get cash before I come here.

Went in for a gel mani pedi, had an appointment at 3pm for 3 people, got taken in immediately and we were out before 5pm. My nails look amazing and the women in there were very friendly.

Pleasant service and quality job on callus removal on feet as well as french manicure on hands. There were two older customers with foot issues there when I came in, so it may be a good spot for those who are under a podiatrists care. Caution: bring cash for a tip if you are using a credit card. There is an ATM nearby.

Lauren and her crew do a pretty good job on the Gel nails. I get my natural nails done with Gel polish. I think in comparison to other salons for this service it should be $5 cheaper so the girls can get more in tip.My Gels lasted 2.5 weeks. Seems like the average time compared to other salons and reviews.Keep up the good job girls!

Love this place. I dont know how they do it, but my nails always last me for almost a month. Im sure if my natural nails didnt grow so fast I wouldnt need a fill as often but they always do a great job and blend the acrylic into my natural nails really well. Limited in colors but they still create great looks with what they have.

Everyone is very friendly and they definately do quality work. I like that they take their time with each customer. Prices are very reasonable for the area and quality of work.

Got a fill and reshape to my acrylics. I made an appointment and showed up 5 min ahead of time. I was told no one knew I was comming and sat to wait 30 minutes. The manicurist rushed, cutting and burning me 2x. I was very frustrated and had to tell her to lower the speed on her machine. After everything I was charged $40 for a fill and shape, my nails did look good but Id rather have a nice relaxing experience and pay someone who actually knows how to properly use their tools. There is zero excuse for pain !!!

BOTTOM LINE: spend $5 more and go somewhere else. The good yelp reviews for this salon likely pertain to ONLY LAUREN. AVOID HELEN AT ALL COSTS. Chipped and worn shellac french manicure after < 7 days wear.After seeing all the amazing reviews on yelp, I HAD to try this nail salon. I texted the number listed on the website for an appointment on a Saturday and did not hear back for 2 hours. At that point, I decided I would just try going the next morning. I arrived at the salon on Sunday morning about 30 minutes after the salon opened. There was a 15-20 minute wait and only 3 workers actually giving pedicures/manicures. After 15 minutes, an asian woman entering the salon rushed past myself and the two other women waiting to get to the back of the salon. Before she even finished settling, the man at the front ushered me over to her station.Heres where the trouble BEGINS...I am not a large or wide person, but I could barely sit in the manicure chair which was crushed between the table and the nail technicians chair on the next table over. After squeezing into place and trying to get comfortable, the nail technician introduced herself as Helen and asked me what I was getting. I told her a french shellac and she seemed to understand.Now I must preface the following parts of this review by saying that I have a lot of respect for anyone that learns English as a second language. Therefore, I always try to be empathetic and patient towards non-native speakers. I also must confess that prior to this appointment I had been carefully growing out my nails for months in anticipation of starting a job on the Monday after my appointment.As Helen soaks my hands, she asks me about cutting my nails. I hesitated and told her to trim, but then quickly added the specific instructions that I only want shaping. I want to try to keep them as long as possible. Helen nodded as if she understood and took out her nail clippers. As I saw her cut the first nail, my attention was drawn to how much she cut. I decided to clarify what I wanted by stopping her before she got to the second nail. Just shaping, I do not want trimming please. Keep them as long as possible. Again Helen seemed to nod and understand. Within seconds the nails on the first hand were reduced to nubs, cut down to the skin. After finishing the first hand, she said Good? to ensure I was happy. UHM NO. But even if I told her this 1) I doubt she would understand and 2) it wouldnt matter because I could not walk around with stubby hands on one nail and my long elegant nails on the other. Despite trying not to be upset and walk out of the salon, I stayed the rest of the appointment. Her painting was subpar. She left spots on the sides of the nails bare that required her more time to go back and get them. She also made the white line of my french manicure a lot thicker than I told her I wanted it. Despite trying to correct her, she did what she wanted. When all was said and done, my nails were cut to the start of my finger and looking stubby and gross. When I went to cash out, the male at the front (who had been on and off his cell phone since I arrived), asked me if I was pleased. I said No, she took off to much nail. He evidently wasnt listening or didnt care because he just smiled back at me and took my money.It has been a week and a couple of the nails are chipped around the edges. The white part of the shellac tip has worn back and is showing unpainted nail.It may also be useful to know that the girl getting her nails done in the chair behind me seemed to also be having trouble with her manicurist. I was going to refer my roommate to this place, but instead I am cautioning her against it at all costs. Not to mention that as soon as my roommate saw me when I was at our apartment, she remarked at how short my nails had been cut.My recommendation: spend $5 more and go somewhere else. The good reviews for this salon likely pertain to ONLY LAUREN. AVOID HELEN AT ALL COSTS.
