This place is close to the entire gas lamp area and restaurants, including Petco Park. And there is a Starbucks in the hotel for morning coffee.. Prices are reasonable but the the rooms are quite small and frankly we were cramped in this room. Hotel staff was a little hit and miss as well. Some great others less so.

Excellent customer support by Harmony. I just got off the phone with Harmony at the front desk to double check several things about the reservation which Expedia had screwed up and I needed to ship something to my wife arriving at the hotel. Harmony was very helpful and ensured me everything would be taken care of. It was a relief and I felt bad calling during what I know is a pretty busy time for check outs but Harmony, even though busy, was patient and understanding. So thank you so much Harmony from someone who use to work in the hotel/restaurant industry.

So I really have mixed feelings about this hotel so here are my thoughts both good and bad.I was only in San Diego for one night and I needed a hotel close to the convention center so from that aspect this place was perfect and very reasonably priced! The room was much smaller than any other Marriott I had stayed in but again it was just me so wasn’t a huge deal but definitely a really small room. When I got there, there was a fan out in the hallway it looked like it was like to dry the carpet or something like that. It was super loud and ran all night long. The air conditioning unit also didn’t work in the room so it’s extremely hot and muggy pretty much all night. To the staffs credit, they were willing to move me but by the time I called I was already settled and didn’t really want to hassle with it.So as you can see that’s kind of why I gave it a rating right in the middle because there were some good things and then also some things that weren’t so great.

Clean but dated hotel in terms of renovations. The plaster in the bathroom in the corners were clearly peeling off but we were in the room long enough for it to really bother us. Just don’t look at it?... Valet for $50+ a night which is typical for this area. Good central location with lots to do around downtown!

The first thing you need to know about this place is that the rooms are tiny. However small you are picturing in your head, these rooms are smaller. The rooms ARE very clean, and everything is fine. Wi-Fi is pretty slow. We went for my wifes birthday and they were supposed to help make her feel special but did nothing. We wont stay here again, but theres nothing really WRONG with it aside from the size of the rooms.

Tiniest room ever! Barely could fit two people and our bags comfortably. View was that of a dirty cement wall, no downtown San Diego in sight. Water pressure on hotel was awful, I couldnt even get shampoo out of my hair. Not only that, but the service of the bar staff was surprisingly awful/rude... I used to frequent this bar pre-COVID as Im a local to San Diego, and wanted to have a staycation here just because of the Nolen being a part of the hotel and Ive never been more disappointed. :( So sad.Marriott Gold Elite member, and have never complained about another property. Im always very happy with my stays! This has been the only exception.

Still here, and I must say that this hotel is a Marriott Brand that understands and practices “Hospitality, friendliness, and excellent Customer Service”, very well! Upon confirming my reservation and during checking in, I was treated with the utmost respect. All of the front desk staff I experienced while coming and going since checking in, provided exemplary service, suggestions, interaction, etc. The type of Marriott Customer service I am use to receiving. And they have a diverse staff. I am so glad that I reserved at this hotel. Definitely choose this Gaslamp location if you want outstanding customer service.

We stay for two nights. And the first night was so bad we couldn’t even sleep at all because of our neighbors party rooms. It was after 11pm and our neighbors got two or three rooms next to ours and we’re in the middle of them. We call front desk for more the six times all night long complaining. Our neighbors had really loud music they were screaming outside the rooms kicking doors talking really loud and screaming inside the rooms. They were just so disrespectful using really bad language. We even put our tv volume high so that we couldn’t hear them but they were just too much. Front desk did not do anything until the next day that they give us a different room in a different floor. I understand that we are on vacation and we all want to have a good time but we need to respect everyone peace. Front desk just keep telling us how sorry they were but they didn’t give us any solution at the moment. The next morning we had a appointment at 10:30 am and we woke up at 7 am because it was a one hour drive to our appointment we were so tired that we did not enjoy our little trip. So disappointed.

Absolutely no parking, which is understandable in such a densely populated area. But they didnt tell us ahead of time, which made for an...interesting...arrival. The room was incredibly tiny, and the mattress wasnt very comfortable at all. But the saving grace, what made this review 2 stars instead of zero, was the front desk guy Billy. He was SO NICE!!! He actually went outside to meet us because the whole parking situation was so confusing. He guided us through everything, and even gave my kids a few treats for our trouble. All in all, not the worst place in the world, but I probably wont stay there again.

Horrible experience. My reservation was canceled at 3pm, 1 hour before check-in because of mishaps. Karla Rios, the director of operations, sent me an email canceling at 3pm.The hotel charged my card in the morning and then proceeded to cancel my reservation, knowing well that refunds take 2-3 days. I should not have any kind of charge in the first place since you canceled my reservation. As a Gold Elite member, with two nights away from Platinum, I have never experienced this kind of unfair treatment at any Marriott property. The front desk staff was unsympathetic and provided no kind of apology for the inconvenience. All they said, with their I dont care attitude, was that they could cancel my reservation if they needed to.Worst customer experience.

Terrible experience, we get there and were told 0 parking go park on the street, which is not made apparent when youre booking the room. You would think being a Convention Center they would have parking... We then walk in requested a 2 Bed room, we were told we put you in a king and pull out couch so its like 2 beds, thats not 2 beds nor what I requested. Lastly crackers are thicker then the walls the people next to us were blasting music from midnight till 5am, we had to call front desk even after music was quieted you could hear them screaming and yelling... stay away from this place much nicer hotels 20 minutes north.

Elevater swipe barely worked and we had to stand there for 2 plus minutes trying to get it to work, we eventually figured out that you have to hold it there 5 plus seconds for it to go green bur were given no direction. Billy! I travel a lot, I’ve been to 100+ hotels and he is one that I will never forget. He is professional, kind, personable and funny. We were a bit needy this trip and he handled everything promptly and with grace. I wish I was staying longer because of him.Carla (?) on the other hand was probably one of the most stuck up, elitist, discriminating hospitality personnel I’ve encounter... possibly ever. She was rude upon our check-in. When I informed her that our keycard didn’t work she said with a huge annoyed sigh and an attitude that “it was probably “operator error”. She then confirmed that it didn’t work when she tried it herself. Then said “our machine at the front isn’t working” so she’s have to have someone else do it “in the back”. We waited patiently and politely. Upon receiving these new cards I said “my sis is parking the car, can I leave a card here for her to get when she comes in? I know you told me I can’t use the elevator without one.” Again, a huge sigh and said “yeah... I suppose I can do that. How much more do you need?” I said, “nothing else, just need to make sure she can get in. Thank you!” Didn’t see her again ... til tomorrow...I honestly don’t even have the energy to describe the prejudice she has against a man trying to get a room. A man who was polite and clearly had the kk way to pay for a room. But was being prejudiced based on his appearance. Myself and others chatted with him and he was nothing less than a gentleman. Even offering to pay for our room (money in hand) as a thank you for letting himUse our phone because he lost his.I’ll come back here hoping Billy is here, but probably cancel if I find that Carla is here.So many short quips of rudeness. My sister booked a very nice room and bought aspirin from her and I quote “am I charging this to a credit card or can you actually pay for it?” How does she work here???

Arrived at 3:30 pm and was able to check in early. Parking was a real issue. Parking was not available in close proximity of hotel. Valet indicated that he had to sprint 6 blocks to park car and retrieve car. Price of valet parking was a little high at $40 per night which was not indicated on website. Also disappointed that hotel did not have a pool. Laundry was left in white bag in hall way by cleaning people. Drinking glasses were also left outside some of the rooms for days. Young ladies behind front counter were nice but dressed in jeans with sneakers. Your Television commercials show a very professionally dressed staff. On a positive note, Claudia & Aaron at breakfast area were very delightful, helpful and pleasant. Breakfast was very good. In the future I need to research better to understand parking issues and parking cost by hotel. I also needed to research to verify if pool is offered at this hotel. After checking out and coming home, I reviewed charges made by Marriott and found billing error that still is pending of which I was informed to allow a few days to see what actually post against my card. This is not good service if you can not resolve billing issue with Marriott.

My wife and I were in San Diego for one night to attend a concert at Petco Park. The Courtyard is in a great location only a few short blocks from Petco and also right in the middle of the Gaslamp area with all the restaurants and bars. The Hotel is very clean and modern and everyone we came in contact with at the hotel was very friendly and helpful. We were able to check in around noon instead of the 3:00pm check in which was very nice. When we checked out on Sunday at 11:00, the front desk held our bags for a few hours so we could walk around and continue to enjoy San Diego. The only complaint with our stay is the parking. The only parking option is Valet for $49 per night but looking around downtown San Diego that is the going rate. The Valet Staff was very nice and helpful as well so that took some sting out of the parking price. Overall we had a great trip and I would recommend the Courtyard Gaslamp if you want to be in downtown San Diego.

This Courtyard is great option when visiting San Diego. Its close to the Convention Center, but not too close. Its in the Gaslamp District, but not in the center. So, theres both accessibility and a little more quiet. The staff is great, the rooms are nice, and the rooftop restaurant is a real treat.

3.7 star review. The location is great in Gaslamp walkable distance to nearly every downtown restaurant, the convention center, and entertainment. 12 minuets from the airport and easy access to the highway. At check in I was greeted with a shot of some pretty good glass of bourbon. My room was small even after my complimentary upgrade, and the view is literally of a courtyard. This is the first hotel that my check in gift was a cookie, and it was delicious! The beds are cool beds that are just okay, noting to write home about. The reason this is a lower review is the lack of black out curtains; these were clearly an afterthought. Light enters the room all around, so if you’re looking to sleep in and get a refreshed night this isn’t the place. The roof top bar and restaurant was great. If the curtains were not such a PITA this would be a high 4 star review.

Helpful and friendly staff. Room and bathroom were clean. Great view and service from the rooftop lounge. The bistro seemed a bit small and wasn’t yet opened the morning I tried to grab a breakfast snack at 6:45.

The hotel had a warm feeling in the best location downtown/gas lamp. It was close to all the attractions nearby and had a great roof top bar. The room was comfortable all around. This is definitely a great stay. Its a modern hotel with all the necessary amenities. I highly recommend this hotel especially for travers without a car.

My wife and I traveled to San Diego to visit our son who serves our great country in the United States Navy. He will be deploying for quite some time and we wanted to see him again before he deploys. When selecting a hotel we were never in doubt that we would be staying with Marriott, but which Marriott brand we would stay was undecided. Upon conducting internet research we learned that Courtyard San Diego Gaslamp/Convention Center suited our needs best and the good folks their did not disappoint. We would highly recommend Courtyard San Diego Gaslamp/Convention Center to anyone traveling to the San Diego area.

The staff at this hotel was top notch. Very friendly and accommodating. My plane got in early and they helped me get into a room for early check in without any issues. They were very personable. The bartender at the Nolen restaurant was extremely friendly. The toom was very modern and had everything I needed. The only downfall was there was no pool or hot tub on property and I was looking forward to those. It is close to everything and was more affordable than other hotels close by.

Great Location, amazing rooftop lounge (The Nolen) and outstanding staff. Sergio, Andrew, Karla, Ariel and the rest of the team when above and beyond to make sure my stay was perfect. Theres a plethora of restaurants, bars, and clubs within a blocks radius. Definitely inthe place to stay on a budget, very reasonable priced compar d to the rest of the hotels in the area. The rooms are modern and sleek.

Great hotel!!! My wife and I have stayed here in multiple occasions and we are always satisfied with our stay. Location for a Padres game is great! Look over your car after you use the Valet ( Laz Parking ) as they will not tell you they damaged your car.

The location of this place is great. Its right across the street from a quality night club, plenty of food within a 5-minute radius, and the room itself was fantastic. The views from the window are great, the bed is soft, and the shower heads are quality. 10/10, would go ahead

From the moment I walked in until I collected my bags to leave, the Courtyard staff made me feel welcome and cared for. Seemingly little touches like the complimentary Old Fashioned at check-in made this seem less like a hotel and more like family. A great property with a wonderful team of people throughout the staff. This doesnt happen because of policy manuals and memos. This happens because leadership is directly engaged and effective. I never met the manager, but he/she must be very good.

Our visit was very good. Staff was all very friendly. The valet guys were also really friendly and attentive. There is a $47 a day fee for using the hotels valet but its well worth it.

The hotel staff has been great! I love the location as it is right in the heart of Gaslamp so easy walks to anywhere and not far from the water. We had a single king room for our stay and it was perfect. The bathroom is spacious and has all the amenities. I will recommend this Courtyard to anyone planning a trip to SD and I would love to return! Thanks for the great experience.

I spend a lot of time in Hotels.. High end.. middle market.. and sometimes lower end bargain properties. This property lived up to well above the perceived level of its name. Marriott should be proud of this Property.. The staff was excellent and well trained. But more important than training - they CARED.

This hotel is modern, clean, and intimate. The rooms may not be huge but they are stylish and comfortable. The staff is very nice and accommodating. There are great views from the rooftop bar/lounge. Its a great central location in the Gaslamp area but without all the street noise. Definitely would stay here again next time I am in San Diego.
