So disappointed in this hotel being Marriott. Arrived no luggage carts available - no one to assist with luggage with husband in wheelchair. Room was nice/clean but literally that’s all you get. No lobby bar, no patio anywhere or even a pool to sit outside in the fresh air. They brag about the rooftop bar - it’s not all that and it doesn’t open til 5 pm. Parking is $50 per night! Overall, for the price, there are better hotels in the area, like the Omni. Never stay here again!

A soulless hotel. If there is no Padres game, there is no reason to stay there. Everything is stripped down, nothing is done for the sake of the guest, other hotels even elsewhere in Gaslamp are doing more guest service wise than this place. It shouldnt have the proud Marriott name.A line 10 people deep greeted us on checking since there was only one person there. The Elite lounge remains closed. Elsewhere in the chain it is open. The breakfast office was tepid at best, lol, touted as a buffet, there were lukewarm scrambled eggs, sausage and bacon and potatoes and toast. The breakfast at the Courtyard down the street is embarrassing better. No other place to eat on site during the week. Our room had the plug apparatus falling out of the desk and the cooler for sodas like a mini fridge not working at all. The room was tired at best and wasnt cleaned our second day. Seriously, cant they empty the trash at least or bring fresh towels. I guess not. Or tell us that up front.Stay somewhere else for less money for a better stay too.

The pros for my 3-day stay 9/22-25:*Right across the street from the stadium*Good views*Walking distance to restaurants*$50 valet waived as AAA member*Cool Roof-top bar on 22nd floor. (Masks are not enforced despite shoulder-to-shoulder crowds)Cons:*Absolute nightmare getting to hotel on game days/nights because so many streets are blocked off + heavy traffic.*TV in my room was broken. And they couldn’t fix it. So I was out of luck. Unbelievable.*No housekeeping due to Covid. Figured they’d leave enough supplies (towels, toiletries, etc) for at least a couple of days. Instead, got one day’s supply for one person at the most. Also, tub mat was missing. Shower water pressure was ok. I’d describe it as weak, TBH.*Phone in my room didn’t work. So couldn’t schedule wake-up calls. Had to call front desk each time by calling the main hotel number with my cell phone and wait on hold.*No mini fridges! What hotel doesn’t have a fridges in 2021?If you’re in town for baseball, you can’t beat the location. However, I spent more the $1,000 for 3 nights. Unfortunately I left disappointed. At no time did anyone acknowledge or apologize for the broken TV and phone in my room #1216. That would have made me feel better. Maybe the promise of an upgrade for next time? Anything. Instead, nothing. And I’m a Marriott/Bonvoy member. Not good.

Friendly staff! Hotel does need an updating though. All interior parts of the hotel are dated. I was just staying for one night and was only looking for a bed to sleep in (was not interested in any hotel amenities on this stay) but Ill include some details below.Convenient walking location to Petco Park, Gaslamp Quarter, Convention Center and the waterfront.WiFi is complementary if youre a Marriott Bonvoy member (its free to join). No pool at the hotel. No microwave in room (but theres one in the lobby). Breakfast can be ordered through the Marriott Bonvoy app/your phone but besides that there is no room service offered. I believe the parking is valet only.Theres a nice bar on the rooftop that looks into Petco Park and beyond. Pretty great views.

This place never disappoints. Always hustling and bustling. Social distancing is iffy. But I guess mostly everyone was vaccinated at this time. Location is ok but for the price a small fridge and pool would be have been nice for a 5 day stay at this price point. The carpet is sticky and has many stains so keep your shoes on. A strong positive is that they allowed for an early check- in (flight arrived at 10am) with no additional charge.

So disappointed! As a lifetime Titanium with Marriott this hotel is so below standards its not funny. First room was a king suite but we had to move due to a musty smell, stains on carpet and the bathroom being dirty and having a discolored shower mat. The new room is a King room (not a suite) but its apparent its a dog friendly room due to the yellow pee stain on the carpet next to the desk (See pic). The hotel added $800 to my CC for incidentals when it should have only been $500. Theres no breakfast Monday-Thursday which makes no sense since they do serve on Fridays and Saturdays. Definitely wont be staying here again!!!

Hate to give a lousy review here, but this was a sub-par experience compared to other Marriott properties. For the record, I’m Platinum, soI stay at Marriott’s pretty much exclusively. The staff is cordial and the room was nice. The hotel itself is a decent property. When we arrived, I requested a room away from the elevator for my guest - they put him right next to the elevator…Second we were offered absolutely nothing when we arrived. I usually at least get offered some water, or snacks, but I’m this case - nothing.Third and probably worst, no breakfast offered. No coffee, nothing. The good news is that there are a few breakfast places within walking distance, but be warned - they are low on staff, and even when we were *supposed* to have breakfast available (Friday through Sunday), the one person (?!) that they had to set up breakfast apparently no-showed.Fourth, 50.00 per night to valet. Considering everything else, the hotel should consider comping that.Won’t stay at this property again I’m afraid. Be sure to ask questions about breakfast if that’s what you expect, because they are having some issues there.

Hotel is in best location but lacks lot of amenities. They charge for internet $10 and valet parking $50. And there is no onsite parking for this hotel other than valet parking. There is no fridge or microwave in double bed rooms not sure about other rooms. There is no pool in the hotel. The hotel check in time is 4 pm. We came here early around 12 pm but they did not give us the room till 2 pm. Generally hotels let you early check ins at least by 12 pm and this one did not accommodate our request. Their breakfast is not included in the room charges and if you want buffet breakfast it is $17.99 per person. The buffet breakfast does not have lot of varieties just 3 options of hot food Egg, potato and bacon. We went for ala carte which has better options. We ordered bagels to go but they did not include cream cheese. When we called they said they are out of them. Overall you will spend a lot with little value for your money. Also please make sure to check your final bill as they had charged $100 extra for no reason.

Get ready to wait an hour for your car if you waste money on the valet (only option for parking). And be ready for the valet to leave your car out on the city streets past 2am after dropping off at 6pm. Bay-view rooms should be labelled view of the hilton rooms. And 1 of the 4 elevators is solely dedicated to going to the altitude skybar, so you have a 25% chance of summoning an elevator and getting that one which wont take you to your room.

Stayed here a couple weeks ago with my girlfriend for vacation. We wanted to stay in a nice area where we didn’t have to get Ubers to go everywhere, so we decided to pay the outrageous prices at this hotel so that we could be at a beautiful hotel with great amenities in a great area. Unfortunately, we had a terrible experience at this hotel and I wouldn’t recommend that anyone else falls into this tourist money trap. Now, let me explain:To start, we reserved a room with a single king-sized bed, which is one of their highest-priced rooms, about 2.5 months in advance. We arrived at the front desk on the day of check-in and see a line of people who look very disappointed. Little did we know we were about to meet their same fate: the hotel told us that they “didn’t have any king beds available,” and their excuse was that we booked the room with Expedia. The man at the front desk offered us a room with two double beds in exchange, stating that they would move us to a room with a king bed as soon as possible. If I hadn’t just finished traveling all day to start a wonderful vacation, I would have taken the time to ask for my money back and take my business elsewhere. They eventually moved me into a room with a king bed, but did not offer any discounted rate for forcing me to stay in a lower priced room for a day and a half of my 3 day vacation. On top of that ridiculous situation, this hotel will try to get you to pay for every possible cost of living they can. There is no free WiFi or continental breakfast. The rooms do not have refrigerators in them, which is an amenity that Best Westerns and Holiday Inns feature. Overall, this was a terrible experience, and I will never stay at this hotel again.

Absolutely terrible customer service and no consideration in the event of current pandemic. I was visiting San Diego for the long weekend and decided to book for my partner and I one night (Monday 31st of May 2021). While being there in San Diego on day 1, many people did not wear masks or didnt seem to care a pandemic was happening, which is each to their own but some of us are still worried and take precautions. However, because of this I contacted Marriot Gaslamp San Diego not once, but 6 times!!! I booked through booking.com and they sent an email in advance on Sunday May 30th 2021 to consider the cancellation and not charge for the one night stay on as I began experiencing symptoms and did not want to put other peoples health in danger, staff or customers there at Marriot. I first sent an email on Sunday 30th of May, 2021, called twice in the morning on Monday 31st of May 2021 and again in the evening, no one put me through to someone regarding my request of cancellation and consideration, they seem to not know who I should be transferred to?? What kind of business are they running or lack of? I have stayed at Marriott hotels before and they have been excellent with customer service but I am afraid not this one! I called in the morning on June 1st and was then transferred to their account department to only leave a voicemail as they charged my card! I again sent a follow up email and still NO ONE RESPONDS! I would have considered to stay there for the one night booking but I care about others health, and they have a ZERO duty of care policy about the health of others. This place is just a joke for customer service!!!

NOT a 4 star hotel. I was promised a red-eye check-in/late checkout, large flat screen TV, king size bed, pay-per-view, view of the water and room service on a high floor (they couldnt specify the exact floor, but said between 15-22).We got in town at 4am and were almost turned away. We were forced to take 2 small beds (one was sagging with felt springs in the center) The small TV was shattered. We faced away from the water with a lovely view of the side of the stadium and a parking structure on the 12th floor. This was supposedly the only room available but they ended up moving us to the 14th floor that showed a sliver of the Coronado Bridge. The small TV was intact but its built into the dresser on a swivel so the TV is nearly the same height as the bed; enjoy watching your feet! Glad they lied about having pay-per-view or that would have been irritating had I paid for it.Between two separate phone calls the day prior, I spent nearly 2 hours making sure thered be no issues and it was nothing but. This was supposed to be a rare lazy getaway for Valentines day and it couldnt have gone worse or been more embarrassing. Did I mention no room service? They supposedly took $50 off the bill but it was still $268 for an 8 hour stay in a glorified Best Western.Tips for the maid and valet was $60 alone. I felt cheated having to tip them despite the otherwise horrendous experience, though I know it wasnt their fault.Never again.

My stay was over Christmas so some services and facilities were either limited or not available. The location is excellent - adjacent to Petco Park, Gaslamp Quarter, and a trolley stop is 2 minutes from the front door. The shining star of this hotel is the staff - everyone is smiling, friendly, and courteous and really did give a sense of welcoming which was most appreciated. The hotel itself is in need of refreshing; the furniture in my room felt a bit worn and well-used and decor throughout the hotel was not as contemporary as other properties. Because of the location a stones throw from the Convention Center I assume the hotel is usually full so wear-and-tear is inevitable. Executive Lounge is small and was full every morning. Staff in the lounge could not keep up with the volume yet Jennifer the Concierge did a yeomans job of satisfying every guests request. The Lounge was closed at 9:00AM which seems a bit early. Room was generally clean - towels and linens were very fresh and very clean - but some trash including a pair of tweezers was left on a chair cushion. To housekeepings credit, things get missed and the room/bathroom were most acceptable. This is a perfectly fine Marriott.

Marriott Hotels are my go to hotels whenever I travel. The consistency or the service is the main reason. The Marriott Gaslamp Quarter is in the heart of everything I wanted to do in San Diego. From my room I could watch a game in Petco Park - if the Padres had made the World Series :-) or stroll the quarter for restaurants and clubs. I was attending a convention and this hotel was within an easy 5 minute walk to the Convention Center. Perfect distance to get away from the convention yet still be part of the action. My company hosted a cocktail party on the rooftop bar that drew RAVE reviews from our clients and prospects. From check in to check out this was a terrific experience. When I bring my family to San Diego on vacation - I will definitely choose this hotel.

Arrived around 11 at night after long flight delays hoping a quick check in and up to my room to get some sleep for an early morning meeting. Turned out that would not be the case. There was long line of people when I arrived and soon realized nothing was happening. 3 or 4 hotel agents on the phone and line not moving. Had to get of line and seek out some explanation of what was going. It turned out there computer system was down and people were checked into occupied rooms and could not check anyone else in. They did not know when their system would come back on line, just they were working on it. I was somewhat in disbelief. I am sure there were doing what they could, but still was very frustrating to the arriving guest. I was offered to be sent to another Marriott property for the night. But would not really work for me since I had a two night stay and had already dropped my car with the valet. Finally after some additional lengthy wait I was able to get a room and the stay was okay after that. I am probably being critical because of the initial impression of they did not know what was going on and not able to let me know what was going on until I was able to seek out a manager. But would say this Otherwise the room was nice and location was great.

Best location for conference events at EXPO center. Awesome breakfast for price; quality and quantity. Wish receptionist had given me room with better view; I checked in at 2 pm and plenty were available. Shower water very hot and strong. clean sheets.

Positive: We loved the location and how it was in the heart of downtown with all the restaurants nearby and how close it was to a parking lot structure Negative: The overnight parking fee of $50 dollars, there is a parking structure less than a block away that charges half of the cost that the hotel charges.

I love to stay at this Marriott . It’s my little getaway from home. I stay here at least 4-6 times a year. I come out here for the rooftop bar Altitude. All the staff is amazing. The music and ambience is great. The drinks are amazing ~ Jalapeño Margarita and the mojitos are bomb. Ask for Angel or Eddie and you will have the best service.

Positive: Location to Gaslamp restaurants and bars is great Negative: $50 for valet parking is steep, even for Gaslamp District.
