Had a great time out on the water with Capt Brain and deckhand Gavin! It was a tough day of fishing but the crew got us on some Dorado and we were able to deck some fish! Brain and Gavin were true pros. Boat was in great shape, clean and organized. Cant wait to go back now that I have found a dependable crew and service!

Horrible day on the water(8/2/21)been going on charters for 40 years and never been so disappointed in a (fill-in) captain. We would see a boil of tuna and we’d race for it and he would point the front of the boat in it to only have the captain and deckhand fish the boil while we waited in the back. Apex had a bad day, it happens. I just don’t know how the guy had a straight face asking for way too much money for a site seeing tour. We followed the next day on the San Diego charter and had a blast, way different experience, we even fished kelp beds where we killed it, no offer or even a though of doing that on the apex. It offers up to 6 people also, I would recommend 4 people if you want to be comfortable. But I’d definitely wait for the regular captain to enjoy this experience

Just went out for our 5th outing on the Apex and absolutely slayed it with limits on yellowtail and an epic 2+ hour Marlin fight! Captain Brian, Captain Nick, and their deck hand Gavin are my go-to guys when we want to get on fish. I cant overstate the skill these guys have in hooking and catching fish: One mackerel, one cast, one marlin hooked; Brian sends out a sardine, hands the pole off with a fish on. Ive had a phenomenal time with these guys and scored the biggest tuna of my life on the Apex (180-lb). I take out experienced and novice anglers alike with them. In-shore for the noobs... off-shore for the hungry--these are your guys!

Top notch! Couldn’t have asked for more. Captain Nick and deckhand Gavin put us on fish all day during our two day booking. We limited on bluefin by mid-afternoon! The two made a great team and were always working hard to make our trip perfect. My party highly recommends Fishing Charters of San Diego.

Fantastic! Brian and Gavin made sure we had a great time. We got to the fishing grounds quickly and they took care of everything so we could maximize our fishing time. We caught 38 fish and they said it was a slow day! The boat is comfortable and nicely equipped. I highly recommend using them for your next charter.

My friends and I wanted to try a tuna fishing for the first time and because we were beginners, we didnt want to try learning on one of the larger boats. After talking to a few different charters, we went with Captain Brian with Fishing Charters of San Diego. His communication was great and it was really easy to book through his site our full day offshore trip. Our trip started at 6am and when we arrived the deckhand Gavin was very polite and showed us around the boat. I was very happy with how clean his boat was and that we could store all our food and drinks in his refrigerator and coolers. When we left, he filled up on bait and we were off to the fishing grounds. When we got there, it was a sight to see tuna boiling all over the place and we hooked up and I was able to get my first bluefin tuna! the rest of the day Captain Brian worked hard to keep chasing these difficult to catch fish and even managed to find some yellowtail for us to catch. Overall, this was the best fishing experience I have ever had Thanks to Captain Brian and deckhand Gavin for their hard work and patience to teach us how to fish this tuna.

Captain Brian was wonderful! We booked a private 1/2 day charter for Father’s Day. Just the guys went (4) and they said it was a lot of fun! My father in law loves to fish and has fished many different places in the US and he said this was the best fishing experience he’s had! Captain Brian was so helpful in coordinating everything and responsive to all my questions. When we visit SD again we will definitely use Captain Brian and Gavin again!

I’ve been fishing with local charter teams in San Diego for more than 20 years and without question had one of my best experiences ever. Brian and his crew are absolutely phenomenal and his boat is primo💯. Short interval swell and wind made for mediocre conditions and this boat punched through it like we were on a glassy lake. In no time we were 30+ miles from the dock with wide open yellowtail hookups. We were at limits before the first party boat moved through the area. Felt a little bit bad that we cleaned up on high grade YT before these guys got their first bait in the water. Soon after, Brian and his crew put us on a nice sized striped marlin! Not every day you get an opportunity at this type of fish in our local waters. And in between the wide open fishing fun the crew was just all-around great company. I can’t wait to book another trip with these dudes. Thanks guys! Can’t recommend you enough🤙🏽

My family and I had the best time out on the water with Captain Brian and his crew. We spent the entire day fishing in shore and caught over 30 fish including 3 halibut. My family and I are all beginner level fishermen and they really showed us how to do everything. On the way back to the dock, they even cleaned and skinned the fish for us. They were so accommodating, and we have already booked our next trip in September!

The fishing experience of a lifetime!Before booking we looked at many other boats and found that Captain Brian had the most competitive rate for the fishing experience we were looking for. So my friends and I booked a full day offshore for tuna fishing on the Apex. We had 6 people with us along with Captain Brian and Deckhand John and it was a real comfortable ride with 8 people on the boat. We met Captain Brian at the docks at 5am and we were quickly on our way. Throughout the day we stop multiple times trying to find the right school of fish that was willing to engage with us. Deckhand John showed us how to to use a kite and explains to us the different methods we could use to try and hook one of those fish. By mid afternoon we hooked up on what we were looking for. This bluefin tuna was exactly what I was looking for. I am lucky to say that after 3.5 hours our group was finally able to get this fish on the deck! Captain Brian and John we excellent coaches and helped us get this fish on board and we all know we couldn’t have done it without them. This was a trip of a lifetime. Thank you Captain Brian.

Had a awesome time with captain Bryan, deck hands Gavin and Teagen. He contacted us the day prior to ask if we wanted to go offshore for tuna we accepted. The fishing was awesome we limited out on tuna for me and my wife. Deck hand Gavin and Teagen where extremely helpful and very knowledgeable and polite. I couldnt of asked for a better crew than them definitely book this crew they are all you will need.

Just had an amazing trip with Captain Brian. He put us on quality rockfish and we quickly limited. Then went and found yellowtail, he knows where the fish are. Great time out on a great boat. Will definitely be back.

Brian was a great captain! We booked a shark trip on july 7th and i landed a 500lb Mako, it was an awesome fight for 2 hours, after the fight we let the shark go to fight another day! Very professional and full of knowledge and his first mate was a great help also, if i am ever back in San Diego i will be booking another trip for the 1000lb beast.

My boys (age 10-11), my buddy and I went out with Brian Hyder on my boat. We learned a ton about fishing and managing my boat from docking to open seas. Brian took care of everything, kept my boys engaged and put us on the fish…Yellowtail!!!!Highly recommend Brian on your boat or for any charter you can get him on…he’s super chill and knows what’s up. Went out for a half day trip with Captain Brian today on the Apex. Could not be happier! I had booked the charter for my grandfather and myself and Captain Brian put us on some quality yellowtail! Captain Brian was extremely knowledgable of his trade and really just a down to earth guy. He coached us through a few tough fish and was very helpful through the charter.The Apex was clean, and well maintained. It has A Kitchen, restroom, and bunks (probably for longer trips). There was ample deck space and the rods and reels worked very well. My only regret was only booking a half day and not a full day. Definitely will book again and it will for sure be a full day! Thanks again Captain Brian for putting us on the fish and for making some awesome memories!

Cant say enough about Captain Bryan! First of all he was able to get me out the next day after I contacted him. Let me sister and brother-in-law tag along last minute. Then the fishing was great. Caught bonito by the bunches before we asked to switch to rockfish. Got a good amount of bites but lost a few in the process. Bryan continued to reel up and make passes on different rock piles in search of fish. Overall great day with solid numbers at a reasonable price. 5 stars and definitely recommended! Thanks!

We had one of the most incredible full day charters. We originally planed shark fishing but due to a last minute change we talked to Captain Brian and elected to target tuna; it was incredible! Brian and John worked diligently to find fish and get us on them. I can’t say enough about these two, great guys and they know how to put you on fish and make sure you are enjoying the experience. The boat accommodations were equally great! We are looking forward to many return trips.

Took a full day offshore aboard the Apex with Captain Brian and Gavin. The Captain called the night before to let us know fishing had been tough and discussed options with us. We decided to take a chance and head out offshore anyway. Captain Brian did not disappoint. He worked hard to find us some hungry fish and we landed several beautiful Yellowtail. Just returned from a three quarter day coastal on the 23rd. Captain Brian did not disappoint! We caught some gorgeous lingcod, red rocks, and a bunch of salmon grouper. The boat was very clean, had everything we needed, and the service was amazing. If you want an awesome experience, book a trip on the Apex!

San Diego Vibe- Captain Brian took us out today for an awesome afternoon of fun in the ocean. He was incredibly attentive to our requests: Our teenage boys wanted to see dolfins, sealions and fish a bit; the adults wanted to cruise the beaches and take a splash around La Jolla Caves. Cap. Brian over-delivered in every front, we navegated alongside large schools of dolphins, swam near sea lion by the caves, caught a dozen fish and took home over four pounds of nicelely fileted fish. Captain Brian was highly professional and easy going. Highly recommended. We will do it again in our next trip to SD
