I have to admit that I was quite nervous to get on a fishing boat with many experienced fishermen and being one of the few girls on board. However, the crew and captain instantly made me feel welcomed. Captain Bill, Chris, Huckleberry, Nick, and Peyton went above and beyond exceeding my expectations. They all made sure that EVERYONE was having a great time and well taken care of, even when we weren’t fishing. Everyone on board was extremely knowledgeable and professional the entire time which as a woman I really appreciate. I had a great time and will definitely be playing hooky from work to come again!
It was tough fishing on the 4th of July... but surely not tough but lack of trying. Captian Bill did everything he could to get us on fish. They just werent biting. First time ever on his boat where I didnt catch fish.I will be back as I know he likes to have his patrons hooking fish and leaving the deck bloody. As for the crew Nick aka galley gal did a great job cooking and handing drinks out. Then the deck hands did a good job keeping everything in order and also pitched in to get the bite going.Next time Captian Bill we will get them. You and I both know it.
The captain is amazing and worked hard to give us a memorable trip. They created a culture where we had work together & communicate. Because of that, everyone took home fish. Crew is knowledgeable and helpful. Food was delicious too. Definitely going again. I never caught so many Mahi Mahi in my life!
Went on a trip on the Malahini on 9/10/20. Captain Bill and crew are extremely knowledgeable and friendly. They put us on fish and fished extra time for us. Everyone went home happy with full sacks of fish. Kimo has great customer service and knowledge of fishing. Crew even made sure that the kids and less experienced fishermen caught fish. Highly recommended!!!
Not much of boat captain, always hear complaints from the other crews from all the landings ive been at in San Diego. My experience on this boat was upsetting and not worth the money. This guy called out myself and my wife to stay on board at the dock after a horrible day out, just to try to get her phone number. Yes, right in front of me too! Not much of a man. My wife was livid. We will never go on this boat again. To bad he is with H&M Landing, i like those folks and they have really good boats there. Be advised!
Best boat this year!! Ive been on the dolphin water cruiser, the grande has been good. But Ill tell you bill is a top notch captain. His crew starting with Fernando are some hustlers. When we got on the fish it went off, and they where moving like lighting
Staff was extremely professional and courteous. Captain was friendly and even let me use one of his personal rods when mine broke and they didnt have an extra rental on board for me to use. Caught a lot of fish and had a blast. Also, their cook made great breakfast burritos and burgers.
The Malihini is the best 3/4 to Full Day boat in San Diego. On many occasions I have been on board and we have gotten back to the dock late due to the late bites or the Captain and crew just wanted us to offload with some fish. Some days are tough fishing and its those days in my opinion that separate this boat from all others. Take a ride with them and Im sure you will agree.
We went out on the 3/4 day with Mike and the crew of the Malahini and it was by far the best trip I have ever experienced. The staff was on point from the deckhand to Daniel the chef they keep the boat clean, orderly and maintained an atmosphere of teamwork and spirit of enthusiasm. Because of this and the relentless tracking skills of the team our trip yielded 10 blue fin tuna ranging from 65-135lbs absolutely breathtaking. Truly the best experience I have ever had on the water and I have been fishing in San Diego since 78. Amazing job guys!
If you are looking to get into some action and chase some gamefish out of San Diego the Malihini is the way to go. Captain Bill has a wealth of knowledge and will do everything he possibly can to get you on the fish. This is a crew of diehard fisherman that offer the best possible combination of service and fishing experience. It doesn’t matter if it’s your first time on the water or if you’re a seasoned angler you can’t go wrong with the Malihini.
Good captain finds the fish all the time thaxz William.
On Sunday February 28th I went on a fishing trip on Malihini. I had gotten my fish deboned and cleaned at the ship. When I came back home and I opened my fish bag, I was extremely surprised because there were none of the fish that I caught. Instead, there was only a few small fish that were definitely NOT mine. At first, I thought an accident happened but then after thinking it through, I realized that they put numbers on the fish to identify the owner. For this reason I concluded that somebody had, with clear intention, changed the numbers to steal my fish. Its totally ridiculous that the fish workers would do this to a customer. I will NEVER ride this ship ever again nor EVER give my money to that crew again. In my 15+ years of fishing experience in Southern California I have never experienced such a humiliating thing. BEWARE anybody that is thinking about getting on this ship, you might be met with the same disatisfactory experience.
I had a great time the whole thing was great and I would do it again multiple time and I will
