I needed brakes rotors as well as a couple other things. I took my car in late afternoon not aware that i needed an appointment as Marvin the owner is very busy. When i told him i needed it done that day he was kind enough to push my car through. Not only did he do an excellent job he did a couple things he noticed at no extra charge. When i picked my car up he had before and after pics of repairs showed me the old parts and explained in detail the work he had done. I am very impressed at his attenrion to detail and pride in a job well done. I will continue taking my car to Carefree and Marvin from now on. Quality of workmanship on top of honesty and integrity are arent easy to find. Im glad i found a mechanic who has all those qualities and more. Thank you so much.

That carefree smog did an excellent job on my son car. He has a 88 Honda Accord that didnt pass snog. My son and I spent over $300 somewhere else to get it fix and it still didnt pass smog. Finally I start to shop around and I came to Marlen Carefree Auto Repair & Smog I told him the car didnt pass smog and that we have already paid about $300. And it still didnt pass snog. He told me let me take a look at it. He look at my sons car he noticed a lot of things wrong with the car like the cord the belt timing was off and other stuff he told me it was going to cause couple of thousands dollars and I explain my situation to him and he listen to me and thanks to Carefree Auto Repair & Smog he save me a lot of money that from those thousands dollars that I was going to pay I end up paying few hundred bills. He work a lot on my son car and was able to fix and and pass the smog. If it wasnt for Marvin My son wouldnt have his first car up and running cause when he first bought it they ripped my son off but thanks to this good guy my son has his car and no problems at all ever since he fix it. I highly recommend carefree smog to anyone. My son and I are very pleased with the work he did and special the time he put to fix my son car. He knows he lost money but he was happy that he was able to help a widow single mother of 8 kids. Thank you carefree your my #1 .

Marvin has been working on my Mercedes-Benz C300 4MATIC for the past year. I have gone to him for my 50,000 mile service, Synthetic Motor Oil Replacement, Oil filter replacement, All fluid level checks and corrections,Tire inflation check and correction,Cabin Dust/Combination, Filter Replacement, and Brake Fluid Exchange. He really cares about his work and it shows. After every service he takes the time to show me the old filters and oil, its always a nice feeling to see that gunk out of your car. He is a genuine guy with fair pricing, I trust him with all my car work and will continue going to his shop! Great job Marvin!

Marvin is a top notch guy, he has done extensive work on my Nissan Truck and has her purring like a kitten every time. I don’t know where I would be without his advise and expertise. His prices are fair and he is honest about what your vehicle needs. Cannot recommend another shop more!!

Stop in to get a estimate, I ask him, knowing that I have a FIXD SCANNER, to see how much he would charge for scan . He had a very bad attitude, I thought he was having bad day.He was closing and said it would cost 125.00To scan come back Monday . Well later on I scanned it and it came up with a minor problem.30.00 part. Scanner said labor and part 50 to 150. I call he and gave him a chance to make some business just to put it in he said 125.00When I got there he had a bad attitude. I ignored it and said ok he said do you have the part angrily.I said can you order it .He got upset so I told him off. Went got the part . It took 5 minutes to put in .1 screw pop it in. But if I didn’tHave my FIXD scanner it would have cost 125.00 plus labor and parts. Very hard to find good mechanics especially with a friendly attitude . I give him a zero.

Love this place!Every time I have to go to the shop I always get pretty nervous because the a lot of guys that work at shops seem to take advantage of those that don’t have good knowledge of cars. Marvin, the shop owner, is really understanding and fair. I have taken two cars to him now and he helped me get back on the road sooner than I would have at other shops. He would normally take me the same day that I called. Amazing customer service. Highly recommend especially for those of you that drive older-ish cars.Can’t do more than 5 stars but I would if I could!

Just what you want from a mechanic. Marv is always good about walking me through the service and repairs if I have questions. The team saved me from an unneeded smog check, have been going back since and car running better than ever.

Car battery died across the street. This place was a life saver. Jumped the car and replaced the battery even though technically they were closed. Super friendly and helpful service. I will be coming back here for all of my auto needs.

I wish there was a choice of no stars. For the love of god, avoid this shop if you want something done right. Every time I came back, something NEW was wrong with the car. Hed fix something and then itd have an extremely loud noise somewhere else, or it wasnt installed properly and leaks recurred. Hes a terrible mechanic and his employee who helps him is a complete moron who knows nothing mechanically. Absolute garbage, I cant believe I didnt just start with Bonds Automotive down the street (thats where I took my car after more than 4 run-ins with this shop). Just go to Bonds, they know their stuff, they fixed everything that this idiot did wrong in one day.

For my 60k service for my Altima, Marvin explained the regular maintenance he is going to do. Also he did a thorough inspection to make sure my is in tip-top shape. He recommended replacing several parts and gave me a heads-up that I might need to replace the front breaks in the near future.Bottom line, Care Free Auto gave me the best price with professional service.

Marvin is extremely professional and knowledgable. He worked hard to fix my car the day I brought it in since I needed it fixed promptly because of a work issue emergency. He had my car running great (he even worked thru lunch for me) and really put me at ease. Since moving to the SDSU college area this year, Marvin at Carefree Auto Repair on El Cajon Blvd right by the Ralphs on Montezuma has consistently repaired my car and tuned it up to peak performance every time I visit there.
