This team of professionals obviously care about their reputation for service. They have all committed to the idea of excellent customer service, reaching a level well beyond a dealer shop. They are impeccably courteous. And somehow they appear genuine, a feat few garage’s customer’s reps achieve, including the dealers. Both times I came in they found the problem i could not. Their diagnostic skills are solid. Their rates are good, maybe a little less than shops of their caliber. They let you know the issues of your car, but do not push beyond their written report of what is urgent and non urgent. But what really sets them apart is how they treat you. You feel you got great service from people who care about you and appreciate your business. It is so great to find a neighborhood shop that treats everyone like a VIP. Love Smittys. Their prices are very fair and they are honest as the day is long.We have trusted them to keep our vehicles running for a decade or so. Just had them fix a tail light and a faulty door sensor and do a full car check up while they were at it...in and out in a few hours for under $150. Great place to have your car checked out, fluids changed etc. before a long road trip. They never recommend nonsense you dont need

My car is newer so luckily I dont need to get it serviced often, but Smittys is my go to for everything. All the staff are super nice and knowledgeable. They work fast and their prices are very responsible. The online car diagnostic they send you is really convenient too. They get booked up quickly though, so definitely make an appointment. Also, they went above and beyond and cleaned my filthy car windows!

Ive been coming to this shop since 2015. I no longer live in San Diego, and though I currently live in Pasadena, driving down to get excellent and honest service with fair prices is always worth the drive.Smittys doesnt just get your car back to tip-top shape, they go beyond that. Your car always comes back with a quick window wash (which is always welcomed, but even better is that you get a detail by detail rundown of your cars health! With an explanation of the areas that are inspected. Photos of your own car are also included in the break down. No wondering, no shady business, just honesty. And you can always go over every single thing listed with one of their many knowledgeable technicians.Trust me when I say you will get more than your moneys worth when getting your car serviced at Smittys!

I was able to bring my car right in, was pleasantly getting by several of the mechanics. I left my car there, and received a text thoroughly detailing what repairs were needed, and their order of urgency. I selected the urgent services, and they promised the repairs would be done the same day. I parked up my car, and before I left, they sanitized the inside, and cleaned all of my windows, including the owner.I felt very special there, and plan to go back for all of my future automobile services.Such a great team!!!

Nice shop. Worth the wait for your car. But make sure to ask them to wipe the steering wheel when done. It was greasy. Oh well. Good mechanics and honest. A tad pricey but they are ASE certified and family owned.

I drop my car off overnight without even telling them, next morning before they open, they called me and said they could check that same day. They texted me every time they had an update. My car is a model that doesn’t exist in the country but they said that they were going to find the starter that can fit it. They were very nice and I’m very happy because my husband wanted to send my car to the junk yard and they saved his life!

Came in with a rattling sound and broken windshield wiper system. They did all the repairs and diagnostic same day and were very patient with explaining things to me. The online report was amazing and offered great videos on the repair items with pictures

My dealer recommended an estimated $8,000 in repairs/tires for my 2012 Subaru Forester. I went to Smittys for a second opinion. They evaluated my car the next day, did the work for $2600 (deferring a $3300 repair because the car will be fine if I keep the oil filled). The work was completed the next day. Everyone on the staff was cheerful, professional, good at explaining things. Ive heard good things about Smittys for the thirty years Ive lived in the neighborhood and now I know why. Theyre the best!

Always provides excellent service and tell you exactly what is wrong with your car. They send you pictures of your car with what needs to be fixed. They use a color system red being extreme meaning immediate repair and green meaning good condition.

I decided to call around to some different shops in the 92116 area code. I usually go to a different shop. I have a family member that has known the owner Smitty’s for 25-30 years and uses his shop. So I figured I’d call them.First off, I was looking for an estimate, not an exact price for a timing belt and a water pump replacement on my car. The other shops I called had no problem giving me a base price or a price based on everything that it might need extra (cam seals, main seal, belts etc). However, When I called Smitty’s the man who answered told me he couldn’t give me a quote over the phone. He said I needed to bring it in so they could look at it. Understandable, but then he says in the most haughty tone, “there is a $55 inspection fee, but it does go to the cost of the repair,” I’m leaving a negative review for his tone and the way he talked to me. It was almost as if he didn’t want my $1200+ of business. A good salesman would of handled me a lot differently. I imagine the owner/manager treats his customers a heck of a lot better or at least tries to get the sale. Maybe he had a bad day and it was thirty minutes to closing. But at a time when a lot of people are still not driving and business can’t be great. Work for them that is mostly labor and a routine job is what mechanics call gravy.Furthermore, after working as a service advisor for 4 years, a mechanic for 5, and a parts salesman for another 8 ; I’ve never worked or been in a shop that would charge an inspection fee for a maintenance job. That’s ludicrous.Way to go. Good Job👏

They have excellent customer service and everyone there is so friendly. They all seem to genuinely love their jobs and love what they do. Once they check your car, they send a text with a link to more details. It shows a stoplight chart (red, yellow, green) of what needs to be addressed with the car. Really easy way of seeing the high priority items that need attention. And it was such a quick turnaround time! I dropped my car off in the morning and it was easy by 2pm the next day. So amazing and I’m so happy that I found such a reliable auto shop!

I started coming to Smitty’s after my car warranty ran out, which was about 2 years ago. I have had a few bigger ticket services done and some oil changes. They are very professional and the shop is clean and organized. They don’t try to hard sell you on unnecessary services and you can have an honest conversation with them about what fixes are urgent and what can wait. The owner gave me a ride home one time, very nice and interesting guy. Just a well run small business that has been around a long time. Very happy with them and would highly recommend.

The guys here are great. Its never fun having car problems, but the professionals at Smittys make it as seamless as possible to get it fixed, and quickly! Even though the were short staffed, they turned my car around within a day.

My radiator exploded left me stranded on the freeway. I had my car towed to Smitty’s they had closed, luckily they were about to leave. They secured my car, as a single parent I need my car for work and such. They replaced the radiator the next day. My car was back on the road. Thank you Smitty’s you’re the best!!!

I took a car in to get an inspection to see if it was a car worth purchasing. I was treated with kindness and honesty, and after all was said and done, I was able to make an educated and well-informed decision.

Smittys deserves the full five stars as they did the work correctly, gave me a solid analysis of what was going on, talked to me about my options for almost half an hour, and sent me home with a packet of photos of my cars interior and good advice. All this and I was still surprised by how affordable it was, PLUS they were realistic about what work I needed and what work I could avoid. Basically, expert advice and friendly delivery. Mike and his staff of mechanics and service techs are really good at their jobs. They’re honest, reliable, and don’t talk down to women, or assume that women can’t or don’t understand car jargon, (at least they never have to me.)I can trust, that they aren’t looking for ways to charge you more than you came in for. But if they see something contributing to your problem, or just needs to be fixed, they will point it out and give you an idea or where on the priority spectrum, everything falls. If you have limited time or funding, that prioritizing, helps tremendously.They guarantee their work, are pleasant to deal with and maintain communications at all stages never making any repair without your express concern. They may cost a touch more than other shops but with all the accountability and quality work, I’m ok with a few bucks more. I always take my cars to Smitty’s whenever possible. .
