I have the pleasure of working with the manager, Stephanie. The property is in a very clean condition even though they dont have a full time grounds keeper. Stephanie is quick to respond, attentive and avaliable. Even though the Property is close to freeway, the place is peaceful and calm. Dog friendly also! Plenty of street parking for guests

This 5 stars go to property manager Michael Rucker, since the first day of the moving process until now he’s been the most helpful and wonderful with us. We live here since April and there’s been some minor issues like everywhere but he would solve it in a day, thank you! great price and location as well.

I moved to Golden Pacific in November and it was one of the best experiences Ive have moving. Michael, the Property Manager, has been great through the whole process, from going through the application to moving in and even going above and beyond when I had some things come up with my unit. Nothing is perfect in life but the way the Golden Pacific has responded shows they care about their residents. I highly recommend living here!

Great location, love how conveniently located it is to downtown without having to deal with the noisy crowds. Golden Hill is a gorgeous neighborhood with walkable convenient stores, restaurants etc. with plenty of FREE street parking! When I originally inquired about this property there was only 1 unit available, it wasn’t actually available at the moment but would be when I was ready to move out of my previous apartment. Michael Rucker, the property manager sold me on the unit before I could even see it. I signed for the lease late December, saw it for the first time January 8th & moved in on January 11th. I took a big risk, but I loved the location & Michael did everything he could to reassure that the unit would be what I expected & it definitely was.Six months in and Michael is still checking in on his tenants and making sure everything is up to par. The maintenance services are great as well. My ac wasn’t working during one of the recent heat waves and Gaspar our onsite handy man saved the day! Overall, I am pleased with my decision with Golden Pacific, the staff & pricing given that the neighborhood is a hot commodity !

Ive lived here since July, and have been in the downtown area for the last 5 years. Golden Pacific is in a great neighborhood. Our office girl, Erica is on top of everything and is always a friendly smile as you come and go. The maintenance is also on top of everything and usually takes care of any matter within a day or two. I love it here and i dont plan on leaving any time soon!-Vanessa

So I saw the last reviews and how old they were. I thought it would be a good time to give an updated review.First off I’d love to say that this place is awesome! I have a family of four; myself, my wife, my son who’s 2, and my 1 year old daughter. We lived here for about 3 years and our experience in those 3 years was always the same great experience. Erica is a very professional and courteous person. If she’s not going to be in the office, someone else would also be there. Erica was always easy to work with whenever we needed something for the apartment. We lived in two different apartments due to a deployment that I had to go on. We lived in a two bedroom apartment and one of the townhouses. Both living situations were about the same quality and standard of living. The only downside was with the townhouses. The bedrooms are smaller and the upstairs gets warmer in the summer and you run up the electric bill using the AC to cool down both upstairs and downstairs. However, if you are ok with having your windows open and purchasing and extra fan for yourself this eliminates the summer heat in the townhouse.Maintenance was always on time and he always did a good job at fixing things. Gaspar is very easy to work and is quite the handyman. I do feel bad for him because he is the only maintenance man for the 7 buildings that are there. Despite this he still gets things done in a timely manner.Honestly the only negative experience we had there were with our neighbors. Most of the neighbors were fine but sometimes, people would stay out in the common area way past 10 which was posted on the sign that’s right there in the area. It angered me to think that some people didn’t want to be respectful of others and inconvenience people with loud music and chatter. Besides that there weren’t any other “bad” or “shady” people there. There’s a lot of dog owners there which I was fine with but I’m a dog person.Overall I highly recommend this place because of the location and the value you get for the apartment. It’s even good for people in the military like myself!

I lived here for ten months and this is the worst apartment I have ever lived in. In the matter of ten months, I had a worm infestation, a fly infestation, a mold problem, my car was broken into, and my apartment itself was broken into. The mailman left packages on top of the mailboxes so everyones packages were always stolen. Even though there are signs that say video surveillance is in progress, there are no cameras. Once my car was broken into, the apartment manager didnt even change the code for the gate, even though I told her the burglar took my remote. The apartment manager, Erica St. Pierre, is the WORST manager ever. She clearly hates her job because I cant think of another reason she would be so bad at it. When I messaged her about my car and home being broken into, she told me not to message her and that she was going to change her phone number. When I scheduled my initial inspection before move-out, she showed up thirty minutes late, even though she knew I was running home from work. She doesnt care about anyone who lives here and she definitely does not care about her job. She will NEVER respond to your emails so if you have any problems, you will be on your own. Lastly, she refused to refund my security deposit. I had to hire a lawyer to get it back. Do yourselves a favor and find somewhere else to live. You will be MISERABLE at this property.

Horrible! Headache after headache at this property! Also the area is very very bad including homeless sleeping on the stairs, urinating out front, gun shots often, break in including I had my purse stolen last week. The units are in poor to average working condition. Corporate jerks you around as well! Go elsewhere! Not a good place at all!

I happened to luck out and find this apartment when looking at others on Golden Hill. I could tell immediately from talking with Kathy, the current manager, that I had found my new home. The apartments are located right near the I-5 and US-94 (MLK). Balboa park is only a 10 minute walk away, and there is an additional park at the top of the hill. Walking to the trolley takes around 5-7 minutes. The apartments are less than 1/2 block from the freeway; my apartment was near the middle of the complex and I did not hear any traffic, though. San Diego is known for homeless living under highway overpasses, but despite being so close to the highway and downtown it was like being in a different area altogether, mostly because of the side of the highway on which its located. It is a gated complex and well lit and maintained. I lived there over a year and always felt safe.Parking is adequate. The parking garage is below the complex and gated. Some of the parking spots are pretty small. If you have two cars you have to park one on the street. Street parking is pretty good; only on rare occasions did I have to park a block down. Never had my car messed with or broken into.Apartments are not new, but appliances are clean and in working order; if youre looking for marble counters and fancy ovens, you might go elsewhere. My one bedroom apt was comfortable and clean, with fresh paint and clean carpet. Bathroom was small and did not have a ventilation fan, but did have a small window that was semi-private. I happened to get the apartment with the largest balcony in the complex, right next to the common area, which was great because I could take advantage of the wonderful gas grill and patio furniture. Also had a well maintained jacuzzi that I did not take advantage of.Electric use was reasonable (about $70-$120 a month). Water sewer and garbage is shared, with the cost rarely above $40. My rent for a 1 bedroom, 1 bath was $1099 when I signed my one year lease in 2010, and went up to $1199 right before I left in 2011.The best thing about the apartments is Kathy and her staff. She is very busy (she manages a few other properties) but she is very accessable and her staff is very prompt and efficient. She regularly puts out a calendar of events for the month and has an awesome cookout once a year (usually July). The neighbors were pretty nice also. Lots of military that work at Balboa Hospital (less than 5 minutes away) live there as well as some students and professionals. Apartments are within a short drive to a few nice grocery stores and you can easily jump on the I-5 and be to Coronado in less than 10 minutes.Overall, if youre looking for an inexpensive apartment near everything but not inconvienienced by downtown (like parking, strangers, noise, etc) then this is the place for you. Just get on the waiting list early. I got lucky and had to wait a month. From what Ive heard there are people on the list for two-three months before getting a place. Thats telling.
