The deposit is not really a deposit, particularly the pet deposit. Upon moving out, it was explained to me that it is standard procedure to just re-do everything in the apartment when you move out (I had only lived there a short time with basically zero damage, but they redid everything anyways!). This ate up the ENTIRE ~$1,400 deposit and even more (they sent me a bill for the extra, which was a few hundred dollars more). I find this very deceiving since no matter what, there is no possible way to get any of it back, and this isnt really a deposit at all. The only supposed way to get any of it back, I was frankly told, was to hire a similar cleaning service that they use, with no guarantee what they wont hire their own anyway and still get billed for it. On top of that, the rental office itself is terrible, one lady there is particularly rude (also incompetent) and also greatly mislead me in another matter of breaking the lease early, which I was told was no big deal, which in fact is was since I had to pay several months rent until someone else moved in, thousands of dollars which to me, is a big deal by my definition.This is not even to mention the conditions there. The apartments are so crammed together that you basically have zero privacy, you can hear everything the neighbors are doing 24/7, you can smell everything they are cooking, and your patio is basically in plane view of all your neighbors with zero privacy.
