I highly recommend Griffin’s Auto Repair shop. I was so happy with their quality work on my MINI Cooper, their timeliness and especially their pricing! I saved 75% by having my car repaired at Griffin’s, rather than the MINI Dealership, who quoted me first.After my car sat idle for 4 days at the Dealership, the service manager finally responded to my calls about my car’s issue, and then they misdiagnosed the issue and quoted me a fortune to repair it. I am so happy that I shopped around and called Griffin’s for a second opinion. I was able to speak with Carlos over the phone and he immediately put my mind at ease by answering my questions and telling me what the game plan and approximate cost would be. They also completed the work within 2 days because they knew I needed my car back so I could get to some important appointments. Carlos is wonderful with customer service—he’s honest and realistic—which I like. I will only send my car to Griffin’s from now on.

I bought a new intake for my Mercedes GLC and unfortunately with the holidays didnt have enough time to do the install myself. I called around to a few shops and Griffin was hands down the most professional and helpful over the phone. They told me to come in the next day for a quick check to make sure they could get everything done, and sure enough they fit me in no problem. They finished earlier than they told me they would and the install was perfectly done. Very happy with the services and absolutely recommend. Professional, friendly, great follow up and no hidden prices as it was exactly what I was quoted.

My car started leaking gas. I contacted the dealer and Griffin. Griffin talked to me (the dealer (VW) didn’t). Carlos was easy to talk to and said he would do his best to get it done as soon as possible. I dropped it off at 8am and picked it up at 4pm. No surprises and all went to plan. Had an engine replacement done here a few weeks ago and i was more than satisfied with the service. I admittedly don’t know much about cars. However, had done a little research prior to the service and Griffin’s charged me a very appropriate/reasonable price unlike the couple other shops I had inquired who tried to knowingly take advantage and charge me double the price. Not only are they reasonably priced, the staff is very friendly, professional, and communicative. They called me every other day to give me updates on my car. The work that was done was completed in a timely matter and my car is obviously in much better condition. Will be returning.

How I found Griffins Auto: I was turned away from Mazda service department, Firestone auto, and Pep Boys; to have my A/C system fixed. I couldnt believe that I was told they do not chase wires and that they only take on clients with working systems that need a A/C pump or dryer replaced. WTF!A technician at the Mazda dealership recommend Griffins Auto to me and I found Griffins Auto online and took my 1988 RX7 to have my A/C fixed.They did an GREAT job trouble shooting the electronics and testing the system. Found the cause in short amount of time (2 days) and started work, only when I allowed it. They communicate regularly and give upfront pricing for parts and work required. I recommend them to anyone who values their older car. The staff and techs are great at their jobs. Ill definitely be coming back again.

I have an older car that’s been a little problematic since I’ve had it. It’s reliable enough, but when it goes out, it goes OUT! I recently moved from WA to San Diego, and my moving gift from my car was the check engine light coming on. I went to three different sites (including Google) and Griffin’s was highly rated, and deservedly so. Everyone here is professional, friendly, and very customer service oriented. They were very thorough with the consultation, and explained everything in detail. I’m very happy with the work done on my car, and will be taking my vehicle here for all services!

Considering the fact that auto repair in usually not the most fun part of owning a car, I am happy to share I had a GREAT experience at Griffins Auto Repair! I have a 71 beetle that has been cared for by the VW shop in AZ for over 20 years....now that my beetle is in SD, I knew I had to find the right place for her.Not only were they quick (got a same day appointment), amazing service/repairs done (huge improvement on the ride and drive--they are well versed on how sensitive VWs can be), they were mindful of my time (1-day turn around) and budget...ya, that too!And,---Everyone was super nice! I will be bringing my beetle here forever.

10/10 recommend! My car was making some crazy noises and I thought it was going to be in the shop for at least a week. It was fixed in less than 2 days and cheaper than I expected! Carlos and Mario were phenomenal the whole way through and checked in with progress. Just moved into this area, but would definitely send anyone to them!

After making an appointment at another shop who didn’t show up, I found Griffin’s Auto Repair. They’re so helpful that I had my car parked right in front of the shop, first thing they said was I should call AAA because they’re busy. To give me a jump start! I said I parked it overnight for you guys to look at it, and what I heard was we thought you randomly came to us. What are the odds! And I have to wait probably for a day or two to get my car diagnosed. Because I want to know if my battery works or not!

He laughed and was very respectable to me like my Family/Friend. His name is Richard. He asked what was going on, I told him and he got me a quote I could have never imagined anyone would do for me. WOW!! This shop wants to fix your car, not take your money. They go so far to make sure they do just that. If they see something easier of what they previously thought/quoted, they will let you know and knock down the cost even more. Im from Los Angeles and I have never seen any Shop ever do this anywhere in California. I teared up because I had been done wrong many times in my 50 years. They make you apart of the Griffin Auto Repair Family by giving you a Warranty that most cant get when they buy a new car in some cases. Unbelievable, but TRUE. Abraham, Richard, Carlos & The Mechanic are four of the best Great Spirits that The most High has created. Aman. Gratitude.

Very unprofessional and poor service. Took our car into Griffins for a transmission issue. The receipt says that the transmission may have problems on long drives. When we asked about what that meant we got attitude. Windows were left down all weekend and seats were soaked. Problem unfixed and wallet cleaned out. Please avoid this place

UPDATE: I just took my vehicle to another location, where they informed me I needed $4k worth of work. The technician asked why the last shop (Griffins Auto Repair) never indicated any of this to me if they did a full vehicle inspection before releasing the car to me, even if they were only fixing my AC. The tech said these issues appear to be much older than 7 months, according to the ODO reading from when I went to Griffins and the ODO reading now. I will repeat my sentiments from 7 months ago. DO NOT GO HERE! They let me leave, knowing something on my vehicle could fail, potentially causing me severe injury. Im even more disgusted at this place than I was before.Plus side, they fixed my AC. MAJOR downside, they are rude, unprofessional, and do not have any sense of time. They will not call you to inform you of time changes - you will have to follow up multiple times before you get a solid answer. One of their employees told me there are no guarantees in this business. Even though they advertise same day service shuttle service and loaner vehicles - none of that is true. They had my car for nearly 3 days and did not offer shuttle service, a loaner vehicle, and it was not same day service, even though that was the initial quote. When you ask about a loaner, they wont have one available.From my experience, the subsequent advice I have to anyone - DO NOT COME HERE.

I found Griffin through Google, as I am new to the area. I am always skeptical about auto shops, as I have been taken advantage of and not always given honest service in the past. I dropped my car off since the check engine light was on and the team was able to diagnose and repair the car in a very reasonable amount of time. Even though I dont speak car, the mechanic explained the issue to me thoroughly. He gave me options and let me know his recommendation, which was not necessarily the most expensive option. My check engine light came on followed by my car stalling and turning off. As a female this is an absolute nightmare situation. The car was towed to the Griffins Auto Repair in Little Italy for the diagnosis. One of the employees, Abraham, was able to determine 2 sensors had gone and needed to be replaced. They were able to get the car fixed and back to running within a few hours. Thanks Abraham for the great work, super friendly and affordable service.

There are fewer and fewer places that work on vintage (eg air cooled) Volkswagens. This is one of them. They know what they are doing. I needed an out of state vehicle to pass CA smog, they did a lot of of work quickly, found parts, and I was able to pass. They know their stuff.

Griffins is an outstanding auto repair shop in Little Italy that I used when I lived downtown.I brought my Audi TT to Griffins for an alternator replacement, and I brought my Toyota Avalon in for brake work. In both cases, I dealt with Chris, who is excellent at clearly communicating the status and costs of the repair and following-up.Also, in both cases, Griffins delivered the work on-time and at or BELOW their initial estimate. That almost never happens anywhere else. With the Audi, Griffins price was 55% of what the dealer quoted me for an alternator swap, and with the Avalon, it was 60% of what the Toyota dealer wanted to charge for brake work.In a short time, Griffins earned my trust, and I am confident they will earn yours as well.

Ive been here a few times and also recommended my friends and family to go. It actually feels like a small town car shop when you walk in because the people who work there are so friendly. Chris and Abraham, and Abrahams dad (not sure of his name) .. they just got a good vibe. And they also helped me out now a few times when i really needed it, and like right away (engine mount, wheel alignment, oil changes) ... oh, and also i was convinced i had a transmission problem and that i was going to pay A LOT of money to get it fixed ... but they told me nope, no transmission problem, thank goodness. They could have charged me for the transmission and i would not have known any better, but the folks who work there are honest, great service (they allow you to borrow a car while its being fixed if you need) ... offer free coffee and a good conversation if you want it ... i feel very comfortable recommending my friends and family to them

BUYER BEWARE: I took my car in for some repairs and was charged over 4K... I got the car back and had the same issues, I returned the car was assure It was repaired and again same issues. I ended up taking my car to the dealer which I purchsased only to find that most of the work I paid for was NOT DONE at all and the work that was done, was awful.. after weeks of negotiations I was able to capture a fraction of my $ back... buyer beware of these guys!!

Before I even begin writing my review, I’d like to give a huge shoutout to Carlos for the best customer service I could’ve received from an auto repair business. I was never taken advantage of with prices since I’m only 19, I was called immediately with updates on my cars, and my car has never ran better. Before I took my car in, my BMW had issues. My brakes needed to be fully replaced and my engine was making a horrible grinding noise after I’d push the car over 70 mph... which is just horrible for any car. I have been to Griffins Auto Repair three times and they have always taken great care of me! The last place I went (Ballpark Auto Body), I came home to find someone elses cooler in my trunk - no lie! Really professional and friendly. My engine sounded bad and I had kept off from repairing servicing my car for 3 years. Its a 2008 Maserati quattroporte and its not easy finding anyone repairing these cars for a reasonable cost. Place has good reviews, so I chose the shop. We were on our way home but ac went out.They didnt fix the problem. Going off of what they said, They searched online all over the net but couldnt find the part anywhere! Including junk yards, dealerships, etc. They also said the part was about $600 and only one place had it, that I wouldnt get it till a week later.So all they really did was take out the part, clean it, put it back in...and spend lots of time looking for a new part. So whats the damage? about $200!!! Just to look at my car & search for parts online. If I would have know it would cost this much, I would have said just leave it alone.My wife called a shop we use from our home town and they say we can get the part in on Monday, $204 installed after taxes & a lifetime warranty. They found the part @ ORilleys Auto. He said possibly they were trying to make extra money on the part.So in short I dont think Ill use them again if Im in the area

FANTASTIC SERVICE!!! I have a Maserati Quattroporte GTS and its quite an expensive car to maintain as it is out of factory warranty. Ive always had the car serviced at Maserati/Ferrari service centers... Until I found Griffins auto repair.I didnt even realize how much I was overpaying for service and parts. These guys were honest, helpful, professional and super fast! Also, theyre shop is right downtown near little Italy...So, now I dont have to travel to clairemont and deal with picking up my car during traffic.Only shop for me! Came in Friday with a broken driver side window switch and a passenger side door that would not close.Initially gave me an estimate of $110 just for labor. Then bumped it up to $350 estimate after first call for labor plus window switch, and a passenger side door clamp. Due to weekend, I wouldnt be able to get the passenger side door done till Monday.Responded that I will get it done somewhere else. Ended up getting charged $54. To basically look at the car.went somewhere else. No new lock clamp needed. Mechanic was amazed by what wasnt done to charge $54.

I was having problems with my trucks brakes so I decided to take it into Griffins to have it checked out. The staff was very friendly and they gave me a reasonable quote so I decided to have them go ahead and fix the problem. They originally told me it was going to take a few days to fix but they called me up the following morning and told me it was ready to be picked up. It was been a month now and everything is still going strong. Great job guys!

The service staff is polite and friendly as well as.knowledgeable about their work. The prices however, are extortion. Being inner city and pricey I do not recommend it unless you have money you just want to throw away.

Ive taken my Audi TT roadster to Griffins several times. They have take great care of the care of it. They know the ins and outs of repairing Audis, so Im not waiting for days while they scout around for parts and figure out how to get the repair done. Theyre also honest and dependable, and the shop is clean as a whistle. I recommend them highly!

I brought my junker volkswagen in with a false diagnostic from another shop, Thankfully the technician convinced me to get it looked at again by them before I spent a thousand dollars on something that wasnt the issue. They ended up saving me a lot of money. The staff was friendly and professional and the shop was very clean. For the time that I am in San Diego this will be my go to shop.

I learned from Anthony Bourdain that a dirty bathroom is a bad sign in a restaurant -- if theyre not taking care of the bathroom, what else arent they taking care of? -- but maybe that can be applied on a wider scale. That said, Griffins has the cleanest auto repair shop bathroom Ive ever seen.In addition, they did a fantastic job fixing up my car! My air conditioner is colder than its been in years, I recently got 300 miles on a tank (something that usually only happens on long trips), and I got a loaner car while waiting so that I could keep working! Fantastic service and great results.Update, August: got my oil changed and tires rotated. Emergency repair, fast and professional

I appreciate the follow up and rectification of repair issues.

I took my car in for an estimate and the guy at the counter was a total jerk. I told him I need my radiator repaired and he didnt believe me. He said just because the light is on and its leaking it could mean there are a bunch of problems. Which makes me think these guys just take people to the cleaners. He quotes me a price to replace the whole radiator because it cant be reapired. What a surprise!!!? I also asked him to look at my AC and he said they charge $79.95 to look at it and any repairs would be deducted. However the website says free estimates? I asked him how much a typical repair costs and he said there is no typical cost but I Googled it when I got home and did get a typical cost. I got a bad feeling about these guys and they seem shady because of poor customer service and little knowledge on repairs. They seem more concerned with raking your money than pleasing the customer.

Horrible Service. First time I ever took my car to a place and the price went up three different times as they had my engine ripped apart. From a $400 job to a $1800 job. Then also charged me for parts they broke while doing the job. My car is still under warranty from what they supposedly fixed. I take it back because it was still having the same problem and they tell me that I have to pay for an inspection and the leak is not coming from the parts they replaced before even checking. Stay away.

Fair price, had the plugs and wires done on my silverado in 3 hours.
